I work with a private organisation where I earn 20k as my monthly stipend
For the past one four month now we have not been paid salary and we dare not ask my boss because she is a disciplined woman who doesn't tolerate nonsense..

Things are really getting hard and I couldn't even afford transport fee to work this morning as I have to trek down to work this morning, and on getting to work I decided to summon courage to ask this woman about my salary, She told me to go back to my duty .
but to my greatest surprise it was sack letter that follows.
I tried talking to her and telling her the situation of things but she wouldn't listen and all what she said is that I have been fired.


I was told to come back ending of November to get my salary..

I don't really know what to do right now, it looks like cheating to me .
This is my sweat, something I have work for ...

I was actually given this advice months ago when the dollar was 950 or so but my thought process was that the dollar might come down and I will lose money 😔 even now, I made the calculations

If I use 4M to buy dollar, that will be 3200 dollars and if dollar increases, say 2000 by this year ending or so, I would make an extra 2.4M but if dollar decreases I will lose a lot of money.

Good day everyone. I never knew these guys existed until yesterday. I wanted to attend Koinonia(A fellowship meeting at Chida Event Centre, Jabi) since I came to Abuja for a visit.

I boarded a cab from Arab Junction in Kubwa at about 2:15 p.m. Inside the cab, I saw three guys and a lady. Two guys plus the lady were sitting at the back and one guy sat at the driver's side. I completed the seat. The fare was 600 to Berger Junction.

Immediately we got to Charly Boy junction, close to Gwarinpa, the lady in the cab came down. My head was full. I felt something telling me to come down, but I didn't have much on me and I had thought it would not be wise to stop here.

I continued. Immediately we got to Seraco junction. They winded up. The guy at the front pushed his chair backward. And they started harassing me. They collected my bag, phone and pointed a metal Gun at my waist.

They threw something upward like a powder and they looked at me. Maybe they were thinking I will fall asleep. I don't know. They told me to place my head down on the chair and close my eyes. Immediately we got to Nicon Junction.

I could hear how they carried another lady who wanted to stop at Area 1. As the lady entered the cab it was not up to like 3 minutes. They wind up and they started beating her. I was so surprised they didn't touch me. They asked us to call any of our family members for 5 million now or they will use our part for rituals.

I don't have anyone to call. I started crying. The other lady said she had an uncle. The only money I have both in cash and in the bank was 46 thousand. In my head I was like. I am a dead human. I couldn't tell what happened. They brought a POS machine and they withdrew the 43 thousand from my bank.

When they got to Berger junction, miraculously they told me to dropped that both spiritual and money wise I was not relevant to them.

That was how I was dropped and I stood there as they zoomed off with the other lady. I had a panic attack. I couldn't fathom what happened. Everything they took from me.

Please, Nairalanders be careful in Abuja. I have not yet recovered from the attack.

And no you don't need N2mln to N5mln in Nigeria. If you earn N1mln a month net in Nigeria (all other things equal) you are probably better off in the short to medium term than someone who earns $5k net in America where rent for a 3 bed alone could take 40% of that. However if you get a N4mln 3 bed in Lekki, you have spent 33% on housing. And with fewer bills to pay.

To put it another way, someone earning $5k a month may struggle to buy ticket to come to Nigeria (credit card aside) more than you can afford a ticket to fly to America with your N1mln.

In the long term though because of devaluation, that's where the challenge will be.

I assume you are newly employed, hence seeing 350k as a big token. You can actually survive on 350k salary in Nigeria but unless you have other source on income, you will not achieve much even after 3years of working.

If you do your home work well and see that you have a good chance of landing a job in Canada, I will tell you to go for it.

Take the Canada route and you might just be among the lucky ones to have something doing there. In 3 years of working there, atleast you will be able to save something even with the high bills and taxes.


Only remain in Nigeria if you are among the lucky ones like myself, where I work for an organization that pays me 4,000USD per month. Yes you heard me, 4,000Usd per month.

Na then it occurred to me that I've been dealing with 'Agba Scammer'. Out of anger, I started cursing her generation. That was when she let out a wicked laughter. That incident gave me typhoid because I don borrow 30k on top kpekus. After that, anything send transport, I no do again. Even if you're living in the next street.
