nahr:lol relax, i did enjoy it too, i just wanted to address the the whole "Ken is dumb" shenanigans and coincidentally you brought it up. My rant wasn't an attack on your opinion or how you perceived the movie, apologies if it seems so. |
ErenXSatoru:"Took themselves seriously" in what context? Because it was billed as a "Fantasy comedy" and nothing in that sub genre screams seriousness tbh. Greta Gerwig just wanted to make a "simple " live action of a popular merchandise and make many people's childhood fantasies come true, the promotion just went out of whack, as many brand didn't want to waste a once in a lifetime "PR goldmine" by not tapping into it, Heck if i was a marketing lead at a big firm, i would probably fear for my job if i didn't"tap into the Barbie hysteria". The whole promotions had a very strong satirical undertone, so what gives??
|
nahr:Anyone angry at this has probably never seen a Barbie media in thier life prior, i bet you, if this movie came out , let say 10 years ago, people will have absolutely no qualms with it, but now, movies are being watched with big microscope to see which silly thing they did wrong, and that's why we have many bad movies now in ratio to Good ones, Film makers are simply afraid to express thier "art" properly, they expect them to please, the rainbow gang, racial mafias, misguided feministas, egotistical misogynists and even the disabled (more recently)!, all in a 2hrs movie!. Now tell me how this kind of flick would come out good. I use to enjoy Family Guy but not anymore because of BS like this, if S1 - S5 came out in this period, these people would have probably convulse and have a stroke. Nobody and Nothing was out of bound in thier butt of jokes and they engaged hot topics in thier gags, 9/11, the Christian "God", Jesus, The Prophet SAW, LGTV folks, i mean nothing was out of bounds. It was now left for the audiences to decipher how to interpret this art. If one's takeaway from the Barbie movie is that "Men are dumb", then that person has no business seeing movies, and as the movie is PG-13, if your 13 year old child sees it and concluded that, he/she/their Father is dumb?, Then that person is probably failing as a parent.

abduleez1:The werey signed a 100 days cinema exclusive run with Universal 😩😩, which elapses on Oct. 29th, so you are correct, November is the earliest date for the VOD. |
Calibrator:loool Maaann. I have never seen a more apt response than this in a while on this thread. Should be framed and hanged up, in the louvre tbh....too elite 🌟 |
abduleez1:Fairs. I did read the article and i knew the poll was from a small time critics but why i used the analogy was that professional critics can actually be nudged to make "false" reviews, whether by monetary or by agenda. At my bolded lies the problem, there are just too many political and sociocultural reasons these days stoking and clouding up actual good reviews and there's is no saying that higher up critics can't be "bought", money can actually move "mountains". Take "Babylon" for example, a top reviewer called it "exhausting unexciting"!, Glad you have seen it, was it anything close to unexciting?. I think the best metrics, if one is to go by it seriously, is when both the critics and audience score aligns. |
abduleez1:Did you see the piece last week about small PR companies influencing critics ratings for as low as 50 bucks?. Point is, both side of the divide have thier issues as there are too many factors affecting these decisions, some might be silly agendas, some might be that the show is actually good or bad and others might be monetary as shown by the article yesterday. I always reference "Hillbilly Elegy" (2020) as an example, i don't know if you've seen the movie, Critics bash the movie because of one tiny insignificant detail, that truly didn't interfere with the narrative the movie was trying to tell. When i finally saw it, it was a mighty fine movie with a bonus of been scored by the legendary Hans Zimmer!. Now i would have missed out on it because of crack heads professional critics with silly agenda that seems insincere on paper. More often than not, I have also seen very poor movies rated highly by professional critics, case in point, just go with your guts and let these reviews whether professional or not, be a "little pointer" rather than an actual guide because you would miss out on alot if you pay serious mind to either. |
Baddestguyp:Just checked now, and "Midnight sun" and "That Day" has both dropped to 9.8 and below top 10...like wtf? People are really that jobless? Anyway, they can't deter peak, every sane person knows AOT is top shelf quality. The plot has way deeper meaning and psychology, that you might be randomly talking about the events on it, and people that are hearing it for the first time, would think it is not an animated show, i dare say, it beats many conventional shows in writing... People will visit it for years to come, long after it has ended. |
Octopusssy:and ironically the goal of every "glutton", to eat as much as possible and still be skinny, thereof opening up the possibility for more feasting. |
Baddestguyp:lol These weirdos are something else and they never seem to amaze me, like why and what's the point of hating on one of the best piece of tv since the 2000? They are not even hating enough cuz it doesn't seem to affect the metrics on IMDB, as the episode ratings are still very high on IMDB and ranks among the highest on the platform. My own own is they shouldn't shift November 4th oo, i hate that it is ending 😔 but excited at the same time to see it end 😀. |
Lmaoo "The actual ending" caption is cracking me up 😂😂. It has been on for 10 years or so but with only 4 seasons, Elite Milking 😩😩, but will miss the hell out of it when it finally does end. GOAT show fr 🌟

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022). “As my obsession grew, I was saving body parts, such as skulls and skeletons.” Jeffrey Dahmer, Jan. 12, 1993. When Netflix did "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile": The Ted Bundy Biopic (2019), so well, i knew they had something for me and other true crime and serial killers profilers aficionado. My eyes literally lit up when they announced the "Monster" anthology series that focuses on Serial Killers and i was giddy when they chose Jeffrey Dahmer as the first profile, his psychopathy range is an all timer, he is one of the best studied profiles in the true crime docu world. When the series came out last year, i had to let it marinate and i picked it up a day ago, and it kept me up till 3am, 2 days ago!. Maann, it was such top shelf serial killer biopic, that I don't even need any further true crime pod or docu on this cold, psychotic killer, the depiction exudes a next level realness on the chilling horrors of Dahmer's crime as he murdered and cannibalise 17 boys across racial lines, for no apparent reason, he stripped his victims to bones, and kept thier skeletons in bleach for perfect preservation and thier flesh, he kept for barbecue!, It earned him the chilling nickname name, The Milwaukee Cannibal. The show runners altered some accounts of the actual story probably to make for better TV, the entire thing is great stuff still, they started from his arrest and worked thier way up from his troubled past to his murders, then trial. Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer is an all timer casting, his depiction of the role was the finest quality and he adorned the blonde and glasses to completely match the physical profile of JD, you would have to watch carefully to catch the nuances of unbridled psychosis that is hidden his tempered mannerism..just an amazing top tier acting. A decent watch i dare say, and an easy recommend for folks who love true crime docu, pod or depictions but stay away if true crime lore upsets you and makes your stomach squeaky because Jeffrey Dahmer was a sick, twisted and sadistic fellow and the show is pretty grime and bleak. The show returns next year, taking on the Menéndez brothers, The dynamic duo, offed their Parents on a moonless night, because apparently, the inheritance money was taking too long.... Exciting stuff to look forward to tbh!. 8/10.

solostar1:Maann..The Psa site is not easy to navigate, but just click the "download" button on the page of what you want to download and it will take you 3rd party site, some might require to solve captcha others will require you to just be clicking "next" and waiting for some small amount of time, the "next" button might not be pronounced but look well. The final page will have a set of links to the file you want and you can paste those links on 1DM+ browser to download. I know Psa is premium quality but the hassle to get their link is a real struggle as they get thier revenue from ads so they are aggressive with it, but Pahe offers almost similar quality but with way less hassle. Plus it's been almost 3 years since i physically even visited the Psa site itself, as if you know your way around Telegram, thier files are always hosted thier...let me if you would like this option.

Achilles100:S5. Pahe has had it since yesterday i think. |

"Smile" (2022). Trauma/Horror fest This was so "mid-2000" regen horror flick. No coherent plot and defying any logical reason while an evil entity is seemly making people "off" themselves whilst smiling 😊. What the film offers in abundance is a good use of the trauma to horror trope with very good jump scares. I totally approve. 7/10.

abduleez1:I get S1 since last year and i never even touch...Maannn you cannot watch everything in this lifetime, it's impossible, we have to sadly let some go😭😭
|
abduleez1:I will pass, I am not falling for Yorgos Lanthimos's gimmick again. I trusted him with "The Lobster" (2015) and he failed me. I'm not a fan of his weirdness 👎

"Past Lives" (2023) What if this is a past life as well, and we are already something else to each other in our next life? Who do you think we are then? If a movie gives me the feeling that Charlie Kaufman's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), one of the best films i have ever seen, gave me, then that movie must be special. Wow! This was a marvelous rendition of those tiny forces that binds us together but sometimes tears us apart. Celine Song's Past Lives is so magical in its simplicity that might seem monotonous and probably too mundane for those unaware or new to art as good as this. It challenges the very essence of the human connection by presenting as a romantic flick, but it's much more, the beautiful direction and powerful delivery by the cast allowed me to absorb each emotional wrenching moment, i had to learn unrelenting patience in some part of the movie that wanted answers to the question the flick was asking, desperately. The cinematography is top work, good enough for those beautiful frames and mundane enough to drive the narrative. The dialogue was 60% Korean and 40% English and it didn't feel like i was seeing a foreign language movie as the Korean was as if it was a language i had known all my life, as the actors actions was enough to get the message across, it might as well be a silent language film and i will still get. The beautiful flaw [/i]of Past Lives is that it poses so many questions but with no definite answers. What were we in our Past Lives? Have we lived this life before? Are we transversing various Lives and settling for the one that suites us best?. The entire flick is a placard of the simplest life questions but the right answer might not be the best answer. I haven't seen some obvious titles this year for reasons behind my control but this almost toppling And A24! Maann, These guys can't even miss even if they tried, Thier knack for top shelf media is just uncanny at this point. They are the only major studio allowed to work through this strike, and the reason is not far fetched, they care about this art so so much. 9/10
