ShaqFu:lol...I think you mean "The Tournament" (2009), that's the one with similar plot to "Mean Guns" (1997). The is actually "Le tournoi " (2015), and Le Tournoi literally means "The Tournament" in French so i totally get the mix up . This particular one is French/Hungarian about chess and a little erotica. The man has been pleading for a link to it for about a week now, and i said i should help out. |
Years and Years (2019). A clockwork orange and Black Mirror regen.....but on meth and steroids!. I have been sitting on this since 2019 and i finally decided to give it a go and what a fking ride it was!. I have never been so enthralled by a pilot of a show in a while as this, a fast paced neatly written 1 hour intro into the subject matter that immediately sucked me in to digest the whole show in one sitting. The show is set in the period between 2019 - 2032, projecting or "prophesying" if you will, on how fluid the world has/will become touching on subjects such as politics, sexuality, AI and CGI use, Climate change, economic collapse, Immigration mess etc. The Lyon family, a family based in Manchester, UK, set as the base for the various interloping plot lines that brilliantly touch on all these subject matters with a soothing and yet terrifying score to properly drive home the narrative. Some of the narratives of the show are already happening now!, like AI taking jobs, the mass immigration crisis from people developing countries 3rd world to developed countries, and it shockingly touched on the Russian - Ukriane conflict a bit, that I had to actually check that this show was infact made in 2019 and not 2023....just brilliant brilliant stuff! BBC and HBO already make good shows on thier own respectively, but imagine them combining to make this? it's total flames and magic from start to finish. Highly... Highly... recommended 9/10

MrKang:It's an extremely rare movie and only one pirated copy since to be available, the tiny problem is that, the last 7 minutes of it is cut off, so see if you can manage it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PcEUjvSFYV4XQBOeCX_VA20E7vOZrdzZ/view?usp=drivesdk |
Palehair:Keyword is some not all. Grant Gustin is not in the "some" area. |
abduleez1:Jonathan Majors has had a near perfect PR before the allegations hit, and when they did hit, they were plans to cancel him, There were small chatters that Disney might even consider recasting his character!. I did see vile tweets hurled at him, his saving grace somewhat was a strong rebuttal that came almost immediately as the allegations hit, and the rebuttal were legit, so people had to cool off the "cancelling", then more allegations hit, which actually requires a trial, but the previous legit rebuttal has bad people not so quick to judge this time around and let him have his day in court and see where it leads. |
abduleez1:lol that's was my point. Both actors i mentioned have no other notable works outside of thier tv characters. |
Palehair:A Grant Gustin casting would also lead to the likely outcome. Tbh he's a C list actor at best, i doubt he has any significant project outside of that show. And PS tv show fame and acting is different from movies, just ask Tom Welling and Stephen Amell. |
abduleez1:It was probably due to previous history of documented misdemeanors as far back as 2011 when he was filming for "Perks of being a wallflower". It was intense last year from Journos because his misdoings were happening more frequently and it involved some guilty verdict and restraining orders. Looking back on "The Flash", i still insist it was not the perceived prejudice against him that made the movie fail so bad, it might be a small part reason but not the crust, infact i liked his performance and i believe i stated that in my review. In all honesty. There was the watery plot, the studio meddling, the seemingly inconsistent CGI, the general superhero cinephile fatigue no thanks to MCU spamming, the DCEU not actually pulling it's weight recently in terms of movie success, Zack Snyder "occultist" fans doing their own in one corner etc. This movie was "set up" to fail and i think a different controversy free actor playing Barry Allen would have ended up with the same likely outcome albeit maybe not as catastrophic as this. What do you think? A different actor would have made a difference? |
This looks like a bush plane. |
SOZINN:They are still running this Insidious gimmick in 2023? The franchise is average at best. |
Palehair:oh.. Johnny Depp already lost libel case technically meaning he was guilty at the time before he was blacklisted unlike Jonathan Majors who has hasn't had his day in court trial so he's presumed not guilty till it is proven otherwise. |
abduleez1:Who? |
abduleez1:I hearing rumours that he topped himself cuz of the immense sadness from burying his dad last week and his past battles with his mental health. His character on show totally mirrored his real life...sad sad man. |
abduleez1:Maann. Surprisingly, July has been the only month i have been able to do any proper curating that i followed through. The other months prior have been total disarray and apathy. So we are basically in the same boat. Too many stuffs to see man and combining it with "adulting" is a real hassle, so just work with any formula that best suites you. |
July cinematic dump 💐💚. mad run, few misses but mostly hits 🎯 and side bonus: I was able to throw in the monthly "Interstellar" re-run 🌟💫

Joyland (2022). Pakistani Cinema has my heart once again 💚. Bold, daring, emotional and heartbreaking best describes Saim Sadiq's debut feature. The movie has a firm grip on the subject matter with unshaken audacity to address a/a soon to be problem in a developing 3rd world nation. The movie tries to define a lady's place in a seemingly generational gap that is immersed in patriarchy and toxic masculinity, while streaming down a gripping plot, then the final 25 minutes takes a sharp turn into a really uncomfortable zone culminating in a gut wrenching final act. The acting and directing was fantastic, and it's no surprise that it was Pakistan's entry at the Oscars last year for Best foreign language film. "Joyland" is a total top shelf material 🌟...an absolute indie gem💎. 8/10.

One final ride gents ![]()

Octopusssy:Exactly!. I have been putting off for a while only to see it and discover it was actually quite good. I liked the futuristic tech theme too. |
ShaqFu:WandaVision and Loki the first batch and they were actually good. I skipped Hawkeye and FAWS tho. |
Upgrade 2018 7/10.

Baddestguyp:WandaVision and Loki were good. No? |
10thDentist:One of my favourite true crime stories. It is based on a real life story of the "Rotenburg Cannibal", that put out an ad for a voluntary fellow to indulge in some cannibalistic fun and some dumbo actually answered the ad and it all went gruesome from there, including severing the p£nis of the volunteer for both of them to eat, but the "meat" was too tough, so they cooked it with some spices and garlic, but it got burnt so they fed it to a dog. He then proceeded to kill the volunteer, decapitating his body, and storing it in the freezer, and preceded to eat the meat over a period of time. He videotaped it all, but the video tape was too gruesome to release. He's currently doing time but he's supposedly reformed now and attending church and leaving the prison for excursions, White justice system is something else!. The movie itself was banned in Germany, but was released underground in the US, with only very few copies available so seeing a copy online is elusive af. I streamed it off a site some time ago, i will drop the link below and see if you can use it. https://www.effedupmovies.com/cannibal-2006/ |
Slim02:Last in First Out. |
abduleez1:lmaoo yes...I think it's "She said" i was thinking about, i saw this and i thought it was the part 2 of it and i just skipped it 🤦🏿♂️😅 |
abduleez1:was this not a docu? 😳 |
SOZINN:It seems you missed the central theme and motif of the flick, Chief. |
Kaycee7:My exact sentiment the other day . Man wears monotony like a badge of honor. Already copped it tho, so i might as well just see it. |
Re: Pirates of the Carribbean : On Stranger Tides (2011). Jack Sparrow: The Fountain does test you Gibbs. But better to not know which moment maybe your Last. Every morsel of your entire being alive to the infinite mystery of it all. And who's to say I won't live forever, hey? Discoverer of The Fountain of Youth. I have no say in it, Gibbs. It's a pirate's life for me. Savvy! My favourite movie encoding guys recently did a re rip of this franchise from a proper source and i just had to indulge again cuz it's quite frankly one of my faves and comfort set of movies. This looked nothing like Gore Verbinski's first 2 run, as you can evidently tell from the onset, there is a change of personel at the helm but it still retains the charm, comic and charisma that the franchise is known for and this is squarely down to Johnny Depp as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, one of the truly great casting in modern cinema! A standalone sequel, the plot itself is modest, A quest to the get the fabled "Fountain of Youth" first discovered by the Spanish conquistador Ponce de León, familiar foes and friends and some new introductions races against time and tide to get to it. Don't let the critical reviews fool you, it is a decent watch, far far better than the 2017 run. It surprisingly made bank, amassing about 1bn American greens at the B.O. albeit in a era when Cinema movie going was still a proper thing. Bar the 2017 fiasco, it's a decent franchise overall and this was my personal 3rd best in the line up. Hearing thoughts of a reboot irks me, imo any reboot without Johnny Depp is DOA, and even if he's signed for another run, i don't think they can hit these heights again. It is just perfect as it is now. I can't recommend enough. 7/10.

Born2Freak:So you have never cussed out people for not going to the cinema to see movies on this thread before? really?. Anyways G. Anything that floats your boat, i just hope one day you get tired of all these antics and leave it be. |
"They Cloned Tyrone" (2023). A rare Netflix W. Barbenheimer fever might have relegated this to the background but i was able to sieve through the noise and see this and boy it was a refreshing watch. A "good black" movie is somewhat of a rarity these days, heck a good any movie is a rare find these days! but this was a very good black satirical sci fi that looked like something straight from the mind of Jordan Peele. Uncle SAM seemly wants to "erase" black folks through some diabolical sci fi means that creates the platform for values such as "black community togetherness" to shine through in the most funniest way possible. John Boyega is the star of the show, with the vocab and the swagger of an American thug that you'd almost forget he's British (or Nigerian if you will) and special praise to Jamie Foxx, he was the comical relief and he nailed it to perfection. he's such a gem all rounder, ngl he was his presence that attracted me to the flick in the first place, so sad what has been happening to him health wise but I'm upbeat after seeing the video he shared today looking like himself again. A fantastic watch, an expected gem when you actually pay for good writers and hire the best actors to deliver. Highly recommended. 8/10.

abduleez1:My own problem is that, why they don't just sit with these people properly and end the strike. If the strike continues, it's only going to cause more problems as more projects will be pushed further causing major disruptions. The only movies going ahead now are those past post production, and 2024 slates will be heavily distorted. |
