No, you should complain, you people are the once encouraging Hollywood to pump out reboot and franchise, instead of giving us something fresh and original.

Don't come complaining when it flop.
More than half of the "something fresh and original" that has been out in the past two years across genres have been shite and down right gutter quality so you logic and line of thinking falls flat...I will take what i can get at this point be it reboot or something fresh as along as it's good.

If they'd asked around, they'd have known the streets actually wanted a Scar movie.

Anyways, at least, we get some more of James Earl Jones' majestic voice, while he's still with us.
Brother....besides what they showed us in the Original run, i would loved to know why Scar was been extra salty and hell bent on "Offing" Mufasa. There must be an interesting backstory, giving it might be twisted, but interesting backstory none the less.

But like you said, if James Earl Jones is reprising his role in this, I can't complain.

I don't think I've ever seen a positive review for Thor Love and Thunder
At a point i was wondering if i was seeing a kiddies circus show or a marvel movie. They took the jokes too far and entire movie became an unfunny Joke. Funny enough i have seen some threads and board that are praising it as "interesting" and a proper "deviation from the norm of CBM". This same people are in the same group calling "The Batman", boring, dark and too gritty because Gotham's finest Knight wasn't cracking jokes like the literal God of Thunder.

I have a long list of preferred sites for film&TV downloads. Each sorted by their content (anime, TV shows, movies), subtitles support (either embedded or separated), file size, quality (360p, 480p, 720p), library size and sometimes download speed and ease of downloading from the site (ads, number of pages to skim through etc) as well as general site UX & UI.
I use some regularly, while others sparingly and specifically for different purpose or need. Genre of film or TV also determine the quality and file size I want at times as well as production scope, also the level of interest and anticipation.

My site options revolve around these (but not limited to) : tfpdl, netnaija, pahe .in, animepahe, animekissa, mobiletvshows dot net, FZ, lightldl dot xyz, PSA dot pm, nkiri etc.

Any chosen program is vetted by series of insights, research, at times on reviews/word of mouth from trusted platforms and persons whom my tastes & interests aligns.
At times, network or production company behind a project determines how much anticipation I have for a project.
Also, the crew behind such projects determines my scale of importance. IE the director, actors involved, writers, showrunner and past record.

While there are many projects I've curated, researched, followed and added to my watchlist for years before finally watching. I also have chosen genres and subgenres I watch and rarely deviate from, although over the years I've tried to expand my natural scope of entertainment and learning pool. Experiments outside area of interest is welcomed sometimes (it is also applied for exploring new sites).

Sometimes I download based on feelings. For instance, there are days I only want to watch horror or fantasy. Some days I only prefer to watch TV shows. Going outside that feeling at times to watch something else or something trendy could limit the joy and entertainment I receive from such endeavour.

On the data plan, I use wi-fi sometimes but I mostly use mobile data. I download some with part of my monthly data plan and sometimes Midnight Plans come in very handy (its way cheaper and easier since I'm mostly a nocturnal person). I use Glo and Airtel Sims and choose the plan that mostly suit my needs depending on budget.

I hope I satisfied your curiosity. grin cheesy
See detailed explanation grin

Could you name a few of her best acting roles? She is an utter bore, based on the ones I've seen.

She's not over the top good like I said but I enjoyed her performance in the above.

What's there to respect? I can't think of a single noteworthy role she played as an actress. She consistently featured in shitty movies and usually as a side character. Before venturing into directing, she was a C-lister at best.
lol i was comparing her acting to crash burn directorial career not that she is a necessary over the top good actress but I have enjoyed some of her roles.

Being the most painful thing a woman can go through, doesn't make it heroic. It's natural. People go through difficulties, depression and overcome it, still part of normal human life.
Whipping up emotions won't change that fact.
Never said it's heroic but negating it as a "normal natural" thing is what I have problem. There's a higher statistical chance of dying from Childbirth especially in 3rd world countries than actually dying from depression. It shouldn't be used as a bargaining chip in the gender talk as it's a no no..There are other valid points to talk about across the divide.

Go to social media like Twitter, Instagram or Tiktok. Women already made it a competition with men, but they seem to back down when the "real" task comes up.

There's nothing heroic about the 9 months gestation period of a woman. Most mammals go through the same...elephants can take up to 22 months, depending on the specie.

A man can impregnate about 20 women in a month, it doesn't make him a hero.
Its part of God's creation.
Still trying to process the BS you typed at bolded, like what form such callous thought process?

Child birth it's is the second most painful experience on the human medical pain chart. A woman is literally between life and death. And if the Baby isn't coming out the natural way, her body it's literally torn open to rip the baby and there are statistical chances of her bleeding to death.

Are you seriously comparing carrying a whole human in the belly and basically providing basic nutrient to it for 9 whole months to what other mammals go through?? I don't know how good you are with biology, but Humans are higher animals and top of the Food Chain!.

And if a woman decides not to get pregnant, she basically shed out blood each month accompanied with numerous pain and what not. Are you, in God's green earth comparing all these to a man impregnating a woman?? come on!.

It's argument and thinking like yours that throw the whole gender equality talk in a bad light. You don't have to belittle the actual struggles and pain of the other gender to score cheap points for your own gender.

You were on the right track until you said Pugh and Styles had a romantic link. Nah.

Due to his history of victimizing women and "method" acting style, Pugh found it difficult to work with Shia. Shia apparently comes off as too antagonistic when he's acting out his part.

Anyhoo, Shia abruptly quit the project (must have read the script and decided it was dogshit), and Wilde, who was dating Styles (whom she was screwing, which resulted in the breakup of her engagement to Jason Sudeikis), decided to cast Styles as a replacement.

Wilde and Styles were openly cuddly in the studio when she was still engaged to Sudeikis, according to reports. Pugh wasn't cool with this because she dated Jason Sudeikis's close friend, and was also a friend of Sudeikis.

Following Wilde's casting of Styles as co-lead, it was revealed that the two would openly fool around in the studio, often forgetting their responsibilities. Pugh was even said to have directed some scenes herself because Olivia chose to make herself scarce on several occasions. The project was a train wreck that lasted 24 months, culminating in Olivia lying to the press about firing Shia because he brought toxicity to their work environment.

Unfortunately for her, Shia had anticipated this and had saved the video call she had made to him, which he promptly released to Variety magazine. In the video, she practically begged Shia to return while also disparaging Pugh with some offhand condescending remarks. Olivia Wilde, who was already at odds with Pugh for unrelated reasons, in a bid to appease Shia, threw some shades at Pugh by saying "it's going to be a wake up call for Miss Flo" or something along those lines.

Pugh, who has been a consummate professional throughout the ordeal, snubbed the film's promotional tour, and on the same day DWD was supposed to meet with the press, she uploaded an Openheimer promotional poster to her Instagram. I can only assume she was attempting to distance herself from DWD as much as possible. She was well aware that the film would be a flop.

That's basically it. The end.
That's why I stated that it is a rumour so it may or may not be true. It's one of the theory going on in film Twitter this week.

The rest of your post is basically the hang of it...I respect Olivia Wilde's craft as an actress but her career as a director is as chaotic as they come.

Yep, I already know about the issues surrounding the movie.
I still don't think that should affect ratings critically if they are truly professional about it.

Anyways, I guess that's just some critics views about it cos I've seen some positives too. ↓↓
For starters, Harry Styles Performance was mid as he's not well grounded in acting and he only got the job because he was dating Olivia Wilde. That alone can drive down ratings.

Ouch .... Na wetin I dey hype as Oscar hopeful this people dey trash like dis?? embarassed undecided
The problem following this movie is quite long and the low ratings was expected tbh. Shia LaBeouf was to play the lead, but Florence Pugh didn't want to work with him cuz of accusations that he his an abuser, so Olivia Wilde trying to please her switched to Harry Styles, who she's dating btw. Florence Pugh was happy that Olivia Wilde tried to protect her from an "abuser" but in reality it was actually Shia LaBeouf that quit the movie and he has receipt of Olivia Wilde begging him not to quit. Florence Pugh found out and decided to skip promotional tours for the Movie and there's also a rumour that she romantically likes Harry Styles whom Olivia Wilde is dating, so basically, the 2 ladies are dragging one man...so side beef.

So the problem with the movie is long and complicated....na WB I pity pass.

He kind of has a dragon, which he was riding in that episode and it's named "Seasmoke" and he's Targaryen on his mother side who is Princess Rhaenys Targaryen who is a famed dragon rider, So she most likely passed on this dragon riding ability to him and the Targaryen blood means he can also utter the High Valyrian phrase for Dragonfire Dracarys

For context...see the pic below as per dragon riders on HOTD so far.

I might be jumping the gun here since it is just the first episode but how fantastic is the casting for HOTD?? Mann....Matt Smith as Prince Daemon and Amelia May Alcock as Rhaenyra Targaryen completely killed it in that first Episode.

And i cut cap for HBO....This people hardly miss. The production set and design is so so good, better than GOT imo already. The CGI for the Dragons are so top notch shocked.

1. DStv shows House Of Dragons on premiere night, meaning we can watch it at the same time as US audiences.

2. DStv subscription is affordable for most Nigerians with jobs. How much is a TV, decoder and dish that 50k per month earners can’t save toward?

3. With HD TVs being the standard nowadays, anybody can enjoy the series in full 1080i resolution (broadcast standard).

So…

Why in heaven’s name do Nairalanders opt to download the show illegally? Them swear for una? That one is too frugal to him or herself to watch a groundbreaking show live or just a few hours later means I shouldn’t post spoilers here? You children must be jokers.

Wait first let me watch the first episode in a few hours. You people’s poverty mentality is the least of my worries in life. Haba, you should have shame for once in your lives.
Who do you think makes this "said illegal" shows available for Nigerians to download??

Not particularly making a case for illegal or piracy but you are speaking like a person devoid of any atom of knowledge of the realities on ground.

HOTD primetime is available only on Mnet channel 101 which is only available on Dstv premium which cost 21k per month!...Now if the average Nigerian home has 21k to spend on Dstv sub monthly alone, then Nigeria wouldn't be a bottom barrel third world country and the poverty capital of the world with 90% of it's population living under $2 per day in abject bone crushing poverty.

And lemme leave you with this Kanye west leaked a screenshot of him trying to get an album off pirate bay one time and i remember a time when Neymar was watching an illegal stream of PSG's game on his laptop...so illegal download or piracy is not a Nigerian thing or a class thing.

The Sandman ......8/10

The show was top notch and a breath of fresh air, giving one something different when everything looks the same and formulaic in Hollywood these days. The Direction was top notch for the first 6 episodes. The dialogue was top class. The acting was great, all the cast members delivered their all. The cinematography and visuals was beautiful. Sound mixing was good as well.

Thumbs up has to be given to the casting director, especially for the Johanna Constantine, Lucifer, Dream, John Dee and Corinthian roles. Even Desire looks like a portrayal to watch out for.

I was initially doubtful of Gwendoline Christie being able to deliver a convincing performance for Lucifer but after remembering her portrayal in Game of Thrones I was less bothered and confident of her acting chops. After I finally watched the TV show and very familiar with the Lucifer character (as he's my fave DC character overall), I can say she delivered beautifully and embodied Lucy's demeanor to the tee.

Tom Sturridge as Dream/Morpheus was a role I'll say the dude was born for. Damn, epic performance and perfect voice acting as well. The demeanor, the movements, the reaction and the look. PREMIUM!!!

Johanna Constantine? My oh my, she played an altered John Constantine story arc really well. Performing John without me feeling they were pandering. She must be applauded. She brought elegance, beauty and dynamism to the show. Never knew I'd love her character this much. There's this aura she brings to the show and she was a scene stealer.

Boyd Holbrook was menacing and a great performer as the Corinthian. David Thewlis as John Dee was rock solid. Portrayed a misunderstood conflicted character really well. The dialogue between him and that black lady in the car was peak. Fvvk! The conversation about life I'm general was very relatable.
The writers na Odogwu. This is clearly a blueprint on how to heavily involve the original creator I'm your adaptation. It's clearly written Gaiman over it. Big ups to everyone involved in the show. They gave me something dynamic this year.

While the show felt like a football game of two different halves, it was a solid take on the Sandman universe and was a brilliant show. The first five or six episodes could be rated 9/10, while the later ones kinda dipped to a 7 and the shaky third act, it wasn't enough to spoil the entire story.

The only downturn I see for the show was the bar the first five episodes set in the first instance. It primed up expectations to the roof and the later LGBT content proved to 'force' a reaction from people's bias. This is what I feel is responsible for tge majority of low ratings and not something really cogent. While they showed some LGBT scenes, heterosexual scenes was included as well and didn't really feel forced.

Overall the weighted average is still above average and great.
I can barely see the "Wokeness" some people are crying about especially coming from a comic reader who understands the universe and the original characters. Asides the from changes to Lucifer which I still consider acceptable being that he is 'sexless'. Lucienne being changed female and black wasn't really much issue. Death as well being black didn't water down the experience as Howell Baptiste gave a convincing performance.

Picture below attached for people using Lucifer as an excuse. The original character look looks more like a female than even a male. Also the character design was modelled after David Bowie who is known for his LGBT beliefs/lifestyle. So claiming Wokeness now just cos it's the new fancy word is just lazy. Funny thing is Gwen even looks exactly like early Lucifer design.
Sandman comics /universe has been this way since the 80s.
Comic readers really have almost nothing to complain about this TV show.
Clearly this TV show was made for the fans. It's that obvious. wink

If I'm hyped for season 2? Fvvk yes, I am!!
And I look forward to how they progress the story going forward, the changes, the other stories they adapt as well as incoming new characters, most especially Delirium, Destiny and maybe Amenadiel.
I would love to see Michael Demiurgos too and maybe an Elaine Belloc reference. Wouldn't be bad if The Presence grace our screen
Do you know of this? shocked : shocked

The Sandman 8/10

With a pretty interesting plot, an intriguing cast of characters, great dialogue for the most part, gorgeous cinematography and good music, The Sandman was well on its way to being one of the best shows of the year. But like the biblical statue with feet made partly out of iron and clay which do not mix, it's last few episodes watered down its quality a little bit.

First things first, it was pretty obvious Neil Gaiman was heavily involved in the production for the most part, especially with the panel to screen conversions we got in a lot of places and the near pinpoint casting.

Tom Sturridge joins the list of people who it feels like they were born to play some specific characters, embodying the character both in physical looks and mannerisms. Boyd Holbrook, a really good actor who does not get enough chances to shine, does so here as The Corinthian. Jenna Coleman, Gwendoline Christie and Kirby Howell-Baptiste impress in their roles as Constantine, Lucifer and Death, respectively. David Thewlis delivers what is possibly the best performance in the show as John Dee.

The costume, set design and cinematography team also did an amazing job of bringing the world to life.

The writing team though, it felt like the folks who wrote the first 6 episodes went on a break and then a different team did the rest. If it were its own show, the last 4 episodes are by no means bad, the tone and pacing just clashes with the earlier episodes and takes the viewer out of the storytelling experience a bit.

All in all, it was a great first season for The Sandman. Looking forward to the next season and hoping they don't allow the writers of the last episodes back this time.
David Thewlis as "John Dee" was my favorite performance among the cast. Man seems to be playing the same creepy role in all his performances and he nails it everytime.

"RE: Million Dollar Baby (2004)"

If Morgan Freeman is narrating a movie chances are the movie is top tier...

Bolstered by knockout performances, balanced in all aspects of storytelling, and finishing on a heartrending note with a gut-wrenching finale, Million Dollar Baby is a wonderfully crafted, brilliantly narrated & expertly paced sports drama that may seem like just another underdog story at first but changes its course in the middle to finish as something else entirely.

The story follows an old, rugged & experienced but underappreciated boxing trainer who has spent a lifetime in the ring training incredible fighters but also finds himself being haunted by his past mistakes, for which he tries to make up by taking an amateur boxer under his wing & help her achieve her dream of becoming a professional.

Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film presents the actor-director in prime form and is arguably the finest work of his directorial career. The script also deserves a mention, considering its character-driven narrative & the exhaustive level of depth provided to its characters makes the ride all the more enriching. And further refining its quality is the accomplished work in the technical department.
Coming to the performances, Million Dollar Baby features a highly impressive cast in Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank & Morgan Freeman, with the trio delivering strong performances in their given roles. Eastwood is as good in front of the camera as he's behind it. Swank steals the show with her career-best performance while Freeman is pretty grounded in his role yet his input & narration play a vital role in elevating the picture.

On an overall scale, Million Dollar Baby is one of the best entries in the sports drama genre. It gives an impression of taking the Rocky route for a while but a surprising twist in the middle completely ends up changing the whole equation and from there on, it is an entirely different experience. A profoundly affecting, deeply heartbreaking & thoroughly engaging effort, Million Dollar Baby is in pure & simple words a knockout masterpiece.

Nairaland is not a file sharing site.

Your typical movie sharing site links to hundreds of movies and tv shows.

It is because the warnings are removed. Every original CD has unskippable FBI warning about piracy.

And the media companies have teams scouring the net looking for how to identify and trap website owners.

The owner of the former mega upload, Kim dotcom is effectively a fugitive in new Zealand for the last 10 years or so.
Reminds of a site i use to get music from back then that mimicked Itunes. The music were beautifully curated with album art and lyrics down to the entire song metadata and all ripped directly from Apple servers...Apple found out...sent the FBI after the site owner...This dude was actually in Brazil hosting this site, the FBI still got to him and he had to settle out of court to the tune of $22m.

Even "Mkvcage" of yester years went under ground cuz of FBI piracy issues.

P valley season 2 is been 8/10 for me.
I really like this season 2 and i like the fact that they are introducing some gang war into the season.
Can't wait for episode 9.

Becoming Elizabeth has been a strong 10/10 for me so far.
I am enjoying the history and dynamic of the British Empire and the life of Elizabeth.
The casts are totally killing their roles, it's like they were born for such roles.

You might have a different perspective of this but i think British and Europeans in general can play the roles of Royals more than Americans and other continents.
The way they play those roles of Royals, and king's and Queens and palace and kingdoms gives me goosebumps especially British actors and actresses
.

Asians too are very good in that role.
Most likely due to the fact that the bane of thier government and seat of power has been monarchy...most European nations had Royals since time immemorial and they sent out "Conquistadors" to explore and colonize new lands including the Americas. Some European nations like The UK, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium still have monarchs up till this day so it's most likely that they will represent "royalty and monarchy" on motion picture better.
