Hey get some respect, we are talking about a man of God here.Like i always say, marriage needs a lot of work to survive. Besides, some ministers devote so much time to their ministry at the expense of their family life and the results could be tragic especially in a society that have allowed the satanic doctrine of divorce to thrive even in churches. What we are seeing is a direct result of the effects of watered down gospel preached in most American churches today. When supposed men of God wed homosexuals, tell you that your wife may not be Gods will for you, encourage you to seek for divorce at the first drop of a hat, what do you expect. No one wants to stand for marriage. This is besides the fact that highly potent satanic forces are always focused on ministers especially in America to discredit the gospel. And thats also why i will never listen to juanita bynum or Paula white talk about marriage since thay have nothing to offer in that department.
That is just the lie they have sold to you over the ages to keep you enslaved. Anyways, you maghas must pay smart Bennie. Shout hallelujah.

The average life-span in nigeria is 45years due acute maladmistration.People shouldn't be surprise when people die in nigeria,it is such a crazy society that staying alive is a stroke of luck,a matter of being at the right place at the right time.

Nothing whatsoever is in place to keep a common man alive in nigeria, ordinary mosquito can take the life of an able bodied adult in nigeria with a snap and mosquitos are every where, unchecked, uncontrolled and untamed because they seems to be smarter than humans.

The only time we can lay claims to longevity is when we start doing our home work right by creating a descent and habitable society for human habitation.

At least he made an impact before he went.
Well said.

We are yet to evolve a society where we realize that the results we get are directly related to what we do and penalties for offenses actually deter people from being reckless in their attitudes.

Look at it this way,a drunk driver may run into a pedestrian or a truck.Whichever way ,somebody gets terribly injured or dies.

I really feel for the guy but have we evolved a society that punishes the person who parked the truck recklessly and the person driving while he is drunk even before any accident occur?

You may need to do a thorough self analysis of what motivates/demotivates the success seed in you. Once you do that, you will know what and where to avoid and also what and where to embrace.

You perform well if the combination of the factors surrounding you motivate that hidden achiever in you.

Going to Ghana,US,Iraq, etc may be your own personal motivator,NOT someone else's.

Dear Nairalanders,

There can't be any miracle to this.  It takes three stages to have power.  Generation, Transmission and Distribution.  One question we must ask ourselves is How much power do we need to generate for our population of about 150 million. Most definitely, 1,500MW, 2,500MW, 3,200MW or even the 6000MW we can't achieve is not enough to make a considerable change in the power sector. Even after generating 80,000MW thats if we can we must still work on our Transmission and Distribution.

Ghana with a population of about 23 million can boast of Hydroelectricity which is the primary source of Ghana's power. Ghana's current hydroelectric capacity of 1.072 GW is located at Akosombo (912 MW) and Kpong (160 MW). The Ghanaian government is considering additional hydroelectric projects to be built on a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) financing scheme. The $700-million, Bui hydroelectric project would be located on the Black Volta. The Bui project would have a generation capacity of 400 MW. In addition to increasing the domestic electricity supply, power generated from Bui could be exported to Burkina Faso, Mali and Cote d'Ivoire.

Upon all this they have they are still working tirelessly to improve.  For more information go to

http://www.mbendi.com/indy/powr/af/gh/p0005.htm

I am using Ghana as an example because we all know that Ghana has been able to achieve a steady rate of  power supply.
@dejyx,
It's nice to know that there is at least one other person in this Nairaland who understands how this electricity supply works. Most people just keep shouting "it has improved" OR "it has not improved" without any empirical evidence of what the national average is. They didn't really want to do the math.No wonder the politicians find it so easy to manipulate the masses. Most Nigerians just can't do simple math. Electricity hours is stolen from some places and diverted to some other places. It's no real improvement. Simple !

Now back to the issue.
3500MW capacity generation CAN NOT give any significant improvement. It is equivalent to just about 220KWH per person annually. Is ANYBODY here interested in doing the math?

It is quite obvious that we can not know the true state of electrical power supply in naija by  just listening to what individuals post on this forum. Some claim its better while some say there has been no significant improvement. We should be more interested in the average electricity supplied per person (that is the global standard of measuring it). It is hi time we looked at things quantitatively. Let us do some math.

Electricity Supply Per Capita= Total Electricity Produced in one year/ Population of Nigeria for that year.

There are various deductions that we can make if we apply the above formula. Is any nairalander interested in going quantitative with me?
Nigerians, the country will never improve in terms of infrastructure until we learn to report developments analytically.
Saying things like "it has improved" or "it's worse now" is complete BS in this 21st century.
If something has improved,by how much (facts and figures please). Once again I call on you all to let us analyze things

what we need do is to decentralize and let power stations supply those in their locality first before giving any leftovers to other areas and that is if there is any.
vigasimple:
The argument for centralised power system I still don't understand.

We have 36 states in Nigeria, and 780 or so local government. why not build power generting station in each of the state or local government and make it self funding business projects like the Telecoms., excess by any state or local government can then be sold on to the national grid.

I believe every state can find some matrials to generate electricity in their own state. There is sun everywhere, so solar power, in the south gas turbines etc.

Go for renewable energy which is the future of energy.

Let no one deceive us that breaking the power company is impossible because that is what we have now, everybody having their own power generating system as in generators. the state or local govt will simply be one big power generating unit.
Very good talk guys. I also believe that electricity supply should be managed at the state level.we should have state grid instead of the so called national grid. There is nothing that the federal govt. will supply that will ever be enough. They are just too far from the end users.

FoodRe: Scientists Develop Rice That Requires No Cooking by VALIDATOR: 12:38pm On Jan 20, 2010
The reason why naija is not developing is because of our people's attitude toward "change". You want things to always remain the same. Some people have worked very hard to reduce the time required to prepare rice and you find it difficult to embrace this new easy way. Most of you believe that it must give bad incurable diseases just because it's easy.
From my general observation, most nigerians do not like easy effective stuffs. They prefer trivialities. For example, you car has a problem, you call an auto-technician to fix it,he spends just 5 minutes and its done.He says his bill is 3,000 naira and you are like ", but you spent just five minutes na. I don't think that is worth more than 400 naira".
Another day,a similar thing happens to your car and you call in the same auto-technician Now he has learned his lessons. He says it is a serious problem and the car will have to be towed to his workshop. On getting to his workshop he first looses all the bolts and knots, brings down the entire engine, sweats very hard under his now dirty overall and your car is finally ok after 5 hours. He says your bill is 7,000 naira plus 2,800 naira for the towing and you pay him happily telling yourself "mehn, that guy really worked hard on my car".

When will our people learn to appreciate efficiency huh

The same reason you are told that you must scream your lungs out in the middle of the night before God answers your prayers.

When will our people learn to appreciate efficiency huh

The same reason pastors use loud megaphones in the middle of the night to address a congregation of just a few people.

When will our people learn to appreciate efficiency huh

FLT123:
Folks,

Before we castrate Pat, we need to take a look back at history and look at the facts:

- Haiti revolution of 1794 was started by a voodoo priest
- On independence in 1804, the country was dedicated to Satan (January 4th)
- Haiti population is primarily from West Africa (though they speak the language of their colonial masters:French, Spanish, English)
- While Catholicism is the official religion, over 95% of the populace is involved in voodoo (this I think is similar to Nigeria where we all go to church but most people still practice stuff by the side)

Now to the one that really got me thinking,
- this is the first independent slave nation of African origin in the world (over 200 years old), and look at where they are still at. It is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Nigerian infrastructure is excellent when compared to what you get in Haiti. Haiti is older than America! I strongly believe something is wrong somewhere. I do not want to believe that colonialism or slavery is responsible for this. It has been over 200 years for heaven sake!

I hope and pray that our Nigeria (that has a lot in similarities with Haiti) does not go down this route. We are just 49 years old. I have a friend who runs a charity in Haiti and I must say people have been wonderful when it comes to helping out on the current crisis.

I will appreciate thoughtful responses to this post, not emotional laden ones!
