It's more of a personality thing, no need to be gender biased here. I've met some of the most polite and well brought up women and vice versa, so with men.

Nigerian men spoilt Nigerian women, especially the illiterate traders of the late 90's, whom were not able to compete with the educated gentlemen. They resorted to using money. It now became a trend which we're all suffering today.

Not everyone will get married. Some women are genuinely unlucky, they live a decent life but always come across unserious men who only use and dump them.

That being said, a good number of girls waste their youths jumping from one man to another, setting unrealistic standards and requirements. When they now get old and have lost their value, they start expecting one man to wife them.
