We await Gov Okorocha's response. He should give a detailed account on how he spent the Bailout fund. That said, Imo State have not been fortunate with the type of persons elected into the leadership of the state, Gov Okorocha inclusive. |
mindtricks:Don't mix things up the Biafra issue is an ideology thing just as Soyinka pointed out. Ideologies are hard to die, even though individuals do. Countries are built on ideology not by guns and brutal force. Nigerians who really care about this country should work towards collapsing those sectional ideologies to one, which encompasses all. We are as a people should be careful in what we say and do. No people in this country is greater than other, let there be justice and equity and see how all these tribal ideologies and sentiment will become silent. killing Saro Wiwa did not stop agitation in the ND, rather it rose to another level. |
The NA is not a revenue generating unit, rather the constitution allows them to draw from the pool of revenue. If the TSA was meant to collapse the multiple accounts held by the various agencies into one account there by eliminating leackages, how does this affect the NA. Are there agencies remitting direct to the NA account by law? And to what extent should be remitted. This is what the Buhari govt need to tell Nigerians instead of pitching the people against the NA. People should be ruled objectivity when putting a public comment. The NA is an independent arm of government governed by set of laws. Nigerians should only go against them when they go beyond the laws. Anything corruption in this dispensation brings up lot of sentiment. |
ATERI:Most people here think nationalism, is only when you fight corruption. I have nothing against Buhari but I have not yet seen in him that National leadership qualities other than self principles. I would love to see those he mentored across the country while he was out of the government. His comments on religious issues and boko haram over the years are well documented. Nigeria need leaders who will put aside their personal, ethnic and religious inclinations and pursue common good. If not for the democracy and the constitution, I wonder how PMB actions would have been. It is important that Nigerians view national issues based on objectivity and not subject to tribe, religion or political alignment. God bless us. |
Mrtesso:If this people are non contained in the North east, how will the government do this nationwide. |
irondome:Can southerners try this rubbish of attacking communities in the north? Those who so much love Nigeria but fail to acknowledge the abnormalities should please provide the answers. If the locals defend themselves by retaliating, some persons here will be talking of war. until we begin to view issue without bias, one united Nigeria will continue to be an illusion. How sure are we that the kidnappers are not the indigenous people there but with recent one involving Olu Falae, one can believe anything. let be open on this until the kidnappers are caught. |
QuotaSystem:It is better that they show maturity for the good of all, after all the Igbos and indeed the rest of the country have also shown more maturity in the various killings of their people and destruction of their businesses in the North. Most hater pretend now that they don't remember those events and how the eastern governor handle the situation. How many northerners were killed in Onitsha? The said mosque that was partially burnt will still be fixed by the help of the state government, that is how accommodating the southern Nigeria is . Can you tell me how many of the churches burnt in the north were fixed by the the governors? Life just continues and the issues that will potentially put discord amongst the ethnic groups continue to accumulate. Uwazuruike should please share the names of those behind the agitations to us. |
It is important at this point in time in our nationhood that our "leaders" act pro-actively than be reactionary in leadership. while the governor's action is commendable, they should also ensure that no violence is directed to any person or properties of persons leaving up north. We have heard of such meetings in the past which did not stop the continued violence. Nigeria is a country of diverse tribes so also are peoples comment on the national issues here, but one thing we all agree on is that life is sacrosanct and nobody has the right to take another persons life under any guise. We should also understand that no single person or group of persons has the monopoly of violence,so there should be respect and caution on the way we talk and act to one another. For those calling for a breakaway for any reason(s), it is left for other groups to convince them to stay as one united nation. In the modern world, coerciveness brews violence. While there are huge benefits as a big country, this is achieved by the individual groups collapsing there different selfish aspirations for common good of the country, provided the common aspirations and will of the larger society will ensure security, equity and justice. The Biafran agitators have tabled their grievances, though a bit to the extreme, just like others; OPC/Afenifere, MEND, MOSOP had done in the past and even Boko Haram. It is important that the present leadership listens to all persons and take appropriate steps to correct any perceived grievances. The present administration should look into the constitutional conferences report for insight and show the political good will to implement relevant sections. |
uncleade:Although I do not support violence but there is nothing barbaric about this. When you deal with a crowd you need to be careful especially when the responsibility falls on you to make amends. The report was scanty and cannot be based on for any meaningful judgment. MTN has never been straight with Nigerians, their business ethics have always been questionable, at a time they had the worst customer service amongst the networks. They don't comply to directives and seem not answerable to any body. Can a Nigeria company disregard directives in SA? If we really mean to move forward in this country people should be made to account for there actions, both individuals and corporate entities. |
solash:Where did that come from? |
duality:I agree with you. The presidency should as matter of urgency resolve this issue as in a democratic government. Sending the military will only aggravate the issue like it did. Who asked the JTF to open fire? Have we not learnt any lesson from the book haram issue? |
juman:It will be difficult to completely stop the bombing for now but government can do much minimizing the attacks. Running an inspiring government in the present situation does not really need all the fund, let APC manage well what is available and most importantly inspire the people by removing sentiment from the mind of the people. Presently, what we see is blaming PDP for everything turn they take. It is not a news that the last administration mismanagement the revenue earned, so they should face it. |
TheGoodJoe:And what is stopping the prosecution of offenders since the information is abound and clear? |
chukwudi44:Seriously speaking I don't know what and who to believe. People just kept on pushing out figure and the gullible masses just take the figures to the Beer parlour. All those who have been in place of managing Nigerian funds have their hands soiled, no doubt about that, the question should be who, how much and where are the funds. The masses should learn to dispersionately dissect all the misinformation we hear around us. If anyone has proof to nail this woman or any other past or present leaders, let him or her bring them out or forever remain silent. This is the reason we keep moving in a cycle, movement without motion. If the government cannot provide true figures, how much she stole and where the fund are for proper prosecution, then let all leave this woman alone. |
Congratulations to Enyimba of Aba and Heartland of Owerri and in deed all to the premiership teams. It was a hotly contested season and I wish greater achievement to all the teams going continental. Our teams need to feel the continental glories again. Kudos to the NFA and the the Leagues Management Team for the good job done. We can always improve on this next season. If our league is strong and competitive only then can we dominate Africa. The various teams should please work on the facilities, we can not afford to lag behind South Africa and the North African countries. Up Enyimba. |
adebayoggt:The problem with Nigerians is their lack of openess to matters arising. The law is meant to put every one inline, both government and the governed, if a law court has issue a statement, you either challenge/appeal it incordance to the laws or comply. Everyone is innocent until convicted by a competent court of juridiction. Buhari should shun impunity and improve our legal system to convict true offender. If any corrupt person escapes or jump bail, there are international laws and bilateral agreement take care of that. |
Charly68:I think the writer has made some important points, it is left for we the Igbos to think deeply and take action in furthering the good case of the SE. We have had wrong leaders overs the years who did nothing in pursuing a common cohesive and purposeful action to bring about a common direction to the S/E people. Ojukwu tried rallying up the Easterners by floating a party which could have served as a vehicle of common development to drive our cultural and socio-political affairs but today only Anambra state has APGA in leadership. It is unfortunate that with the pool of intellectual resources abound in the region, the polity has been left to selfish individuals who parade themselves as leaders, set of people who has no strong principles. For me this current vehicle( MASSOB & IPOB) should be used to press for better leadership from both the State and National level and to correct the injustices in this country called Nigeria on the Easterners. Biafra is a good ideology but most be handle with caution in tandem to the calls from the Igbos in the various constitutional conferences. |
Aaree:He who live by gun shall die by gun. If he is truly bad as described here who cares how he dies. May God forgive him. |
MrEverest:Okorocha should develop a comprehensive and permanent solution to this issue of perennial refuse problem in Owerri. The place is not always dirty as may be portrayed by a lot of people here. The last time I went through Douglas Road, November last year I was really disappointed with the state of the mount of refuse on the road. Generally I think Owerri is a clean place. |
seunmsg:What does Nigerians want? Why are we such a confused set of people. Nobody has been able to fault the senate standing order convincingly except those who are biased to anything PDP. PDP is just a name, people made the PDP and some of those people worked for the failure of the party by not staying put to correct the ills with in the party. APC then took in a fire wood infested with ants. Nigerians voted for a change in the way we do things, and this is one of the change, equity. Until I see the present senate leadership try to frustrate the presidency in improving the life of Nigerians, only then will I take a stand against them. |
OJUcrook:OPC is a movement, does it mean every Yoruba person believe in them in all totality? Same apply to MASSOB movement. It unfortunate that we all live in a country that is tribally divided in every issue. For me how does the post of DSP hinder progress and development in the country? Or does the APC leadership have another agenda other than nationalistic agenda. Presently nothing is been said about the SS, I want to believe also that without Federal character policy I don't think APC will ever consider SE and SS for any ministerial position. |
cabaliciouscabal:You think this kind of a warfare is a joke. A fight you can't not easily identify your enemy in a crowd? and what gives anyone the impression that this violence sect cannot not spread their attack to other part of the country. If they strike in the South East for any reason, don't think a place like Lagos in the south west is water proof. This radicalized people will always attack anywhere you have their people captive to prove a point and what will happen when their is a reprisal attack on the northerners living in the South East or West. The easiest way to create huge a tension in the unity of this country is for any two major parts of the country to experience arms struggle at same time. I don't think the South Easterners are cowards . They are just protecting their homeland. |
[quote author=olalat post=35596518]As if his presence there for d past 8yrs has brought any meaningful change to ur region nd by extension ur life. As if he cares about ur jobless life. I wonder y u people always celerate criminality, immorality nd impunity on d alter of ethnic bigotary. Y are u like this !!! I wont be suprise if u re nt base anywhere near any eastern state. Nomad.[/quotze]Please be rational. The issues of non performance and doctoring of a document are different. If the principal officers elected has benefited from the said changes, does it not make sense to invite all beneficiaries. Moreover was proper investigation done to determine who made the the changes and when? Are there no mechanism within the senate to which this can be reffered to first? By the way the last parliament as a whole was a failure. All the regions suffered. |
fifty234:Why do you limit the ability of Nigerians, UCH in Ibadan has been doing great with new breakthroughs in Nigeria. Why won't this hospital do the same, when it is going to be in conjuction with foreign partners? Are Nigeria Doctors not doing well in USA, England and even SA and the KSA. so what's the big deal. The hospital is a specialist hospital and so will source for man power across the globe or is it also bad to do that? |
aresa:AKS people are happy with Akpabio, so why cry more than the bereaved. Over the 8yrs of Akpabio he has improved the state beyond how he met it just as Fashola has taken Lagos to another level. Give credit to whom credit is due and leave primordial sentiment. Which state governor does not have an uncompleted major project? Name one. The is why continuity is one of the campaign slogan of out going governors. It is left to the people to decide at the polls. Going by the info here 5yr of the project is not bad considering the fact that the project also contended with other capital projects across the state. In IMO state, no governor has done what Mbakwe did in the much larger state since 1983, not even Okorocha. |
chitop:Nigerians are not deceived. The fact that one of those that have benefited from the system is calling for a reasonable change is enough for you and I to support the call. Is this not what the masses has been calling for? How many of his likes has put support to this call? especially the legislators. pay attention to the massage and not the messenger. If we get it right in the future as a nation, the system will eventually extract the stolen funds one way or the other from the thieving politicians. |
Why insult some one you never knew personally, irrespective what other antagonist tribes think about him, Ojukwu remains a great mind just like the Pa Enahoro, Zik, Awo, A.Bello and others. These are leaders who believed in something. What does our generation believe in? We keep distorting history and denying our history as a nation. We write history as it suits us.That is why our foundation as a people will continue to crack. |
In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong with his visit to the president-elect, in politics there are no permanent enemies. I sometimes find it disgusting with the way some of my eastern brothers reason and the so much back biting among the people. Time has changed and it is normal for people to change positively with it. Whether the east voted for Buhari or not is no longer the issue. The important thing for the people in the east is to zealously asked for better leadership from their leaders, irrespective of party affiliation. |
Beamborla:I share your believe. Since our government can't respond authoritatively. Then our people should should take the responsibility on them selves to pass a massage the SA government. |
OneNaira6:Please highlight how the Imo people have suddenly become sabo. I don't think the Ikemba himself will say this. Agreed that Rochas movement to APC weakened APGA in Imo state, can you boldly tell the world how harmonious the party has been? Imo people I want to believe are much interested in personality and performance and not party affiliation. PDP have ruled much of the eastern states for years and what do we have to show for it even with PDP at the centre. Please don't let us beginning to wash out dirty linen out in the public. First, let all the Igbo leaders set aside ego and individualism and work together as true republicans we always claim to be irrespective of party affiliation for the interest of the region. Every Igbo person would have loved to see APGA become a strong force in the east, delivering common objective/manifesto across the east but what do have? Obi awuotu |
ceejayluv:Deeply look yourself up in the mirror. Common, the guy has made good sense. |
XBLadez:This election should be an eye opener for the Igbos and not a platform to cast aspersions to the Yoruba or whichever tribes that make up the contraption call Nigeria. As much as we all preach peaceful co-existence, it does not stop the fact that the East need developmental attention. It still baffle me that the Igbos have not learnt anything so far in this country. I think it is time that Ndigbo should look into the mirror and tell themselves the bitter truth, too much of individualism. For me their is nothing wrong being the opposition, the questions is what legacies do you leave on ground. If Easterners cannot change the rot in leadership of the east then we should not complain about the treatment received any where in Nigeria. |
!!! I wont be suprise if u re nt base anywhere near any eastern state. Nomad.[/quotze]
