Nwaonyishi69: Thanks, but desperate situations can only be solved by desperate actions. See, they don't allow your votes count. They won't allow reasoning to count. These are marauding beasts of no nation, after your oppression. You can't lie down to expect Mercy or pity from the wicked. There is a time in the affairs of men that you only speak to people in the language they understand. It is on record that by 1980 when we had less than twenty universities our scholars had international weight. Those great heads have all left the nation because illiterates who don't believe in merit have decided to ignore education. The worst is that they continue year in year out to devalue it from primary to the tertiary. The devaluation is so intense that even affidavit has been ruled to be an equivalent of a certificate. And now dropouts are difficult to differentiate from the educated. Thus, all areas of the nation's institutions are being led by lame ducks. It is now only ASUU and nma that speak to power. From the 1980s till now only these do stand for the people. But, ignorance of the populace, arrogance and ill will of this same group that started the bastardization of professions since 1980s have turned a full cycle again. So, if there is a anyway out, it must be from the trench. It is the ariya now, oya ooo, oya. Again, how do you expect the market traders/sellers to understand what you're trying to convey? |

Nwaonyishi69: A laughing stock in the comity of nations. When your Presido is busy talking of covick 1-9; other nations are spending trillions of naira on research, competing to get patency rights and to save their citizens by paying social benefits; your leaders are planning to spend 500 million dollars on nta, with no kits for tests in a time of a pandemic, and nothing on education: and you laugh over these coming perils; then there is no basis for you to be called humans. It was by swimming in foolishness that you elected a dumbass by killing hundreds of people to rig him in and, probably, you will loose millions of people pursuing Malthusian economic principles. At the end, your persons, family, friends and society will dance, or cry from far away, very far, from your graves while you hail a man of integrity that the children use presidential jets for picnics. From most of your comments it becomes clearer and clearer why they say that a people deserve the leaders they get. In Fela's voice 'oya oooooo integrity, oya. Oya ooo burn burn oya. Nothing good dey to talk about. Para para para'. We are finished as our future has been stollen, like Lagos by tiefnubu and MC Oluomo. Yeye dey smell, really, no be small. Stop rambling, your incoherent epistle means nothing to most Nigerians, in a country where we have more market sellers/traders than college graduates, you think people give a shit what you write on Nairaland? You want to make real change, join a worthy cause, start a grassroot campaign, make a serious effort to educate those who truly vote, those who don't even know what Nairaland is, you know those people that would gladly take a bag of rice for their votes. |

Yenefer: u mean people don't die due to malaria in Nigeria. And people don't get cured from the Coronavirus. Don't bring politics into this I don't care if Nigeria is a zoo or museum. I'm done with Nigeria since 2009 There's no cure for Coronavirus don't let anyone bobo you, once it gets deep within your system, you're gone! It's just like the regular flu, there are medication to treat your liver and immune system but it kind of just goes away on its own, I get the flu every year guaranteed but it has never landed me in the emergency room. Malaria has a cure, coronavirus/flu you just treat the symptom and hope it goes away. |

Yenefer: So far this season, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control has recorded 36 million malaria cases in Nigeria., with 370,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths. Where's the panic? This sometimes sounds like it was an evil plan. Came out of control and they had to say something that sounds good. This one world order formed by world organizations is not good for humanity. We don't need those mass global organizations anymore. Keep it nationwide only. Corruption is the most widely spread outbreak in the world. The Coronavirus is nothing compare to Corruptionvirus. No surprises there. All these ‘world’ organizations gain more power and most importantly money from the one world order. UN. Unesco, EU, AU, Olympic Committee, WHO etc etc. thats why they hate populists who care more about their people and their sovereignty than pumping billions into these corrupt monoliths. Well it seems pretty clear now that this virus is being use by the global elites to take back the control they have lost in the last few years. Comparing Malaria, a disease that can't be transmitted by humans to a modified flu virus is ridiculous. Furthermore, there's a cure for malaria, the flu since 250 years ago cannot be cured, the symptoms can only be managed assuming your immune system does not give up. Corruption is very real but let's not go off topic, this virus is going to spread like wildfire and a zoo like Nigeria can head straight into chaos if care is not taken, just ask America and it's 30,000 cases or the 729 people who died in Italy from it. |

Is Trump a kid that can't use language properly? The question is simple. Has chloroquine been approved for Covid-19? The answer is no and therefore Trump is lying as usual.
Clinical trials and approval are very very different. Many drugs die in the clinical trial stage and are never approved.
There are tens of drugs being researched and developed for Covid-19. Some are even in an advanced testing stage.
Nobody in their right mind will claim such drugs have been approved when they have not. Don't be so quick to criticize, this is not about politics but saving human lives. Trump being his usual enthusiastic self, probably heard it was approved for testing, in his mind this meant it was approved. Even if Trump is incompetent, Congress and department of dEfense will not allow him to take COVID-19 lightly as the entire country and world is in serious danger. |

Rocktation: Okay, any attempt I might have unconsciously made to defend docs that ask for upfront would entirely be for the private clinic owners. I worked for a couple of years with a tertiary hospital and I can tell you we were constantly having problems with patients running away at nights, after receiving treatment. For emergency cases, there was something we called billing to folder and that's what's always done. This act of mercy was even extended sometimes, to regular patients. The hospital is even close to a prison, so the inmates were constantly being rushed to the hospital on alleged emergencies and we were always billing to folders. I can't speak for all the tertiary hospitals, but this one, I can tell for a fact, will likely only ask for card payment if a relative is around, but always commence treatments for accident victims, when no one around is a relative That's better, I beleive in any sane society balance is key. We must balance humanity with the need to make profit. The biggest responsibility here is the government and in a zoo like Nigeria I have lost all confidence in the government's ability to do the right thing. |
Health › Re: Coronavirus: How The Suspected Patient In Enugu ‘Died’ — Igbere TV by abbey621(m): 7:39pm On Mar 18, 2020 |
Rocktation: Back to the matter of a faulty system. In the US, only emergency departments are legally bound to provide such services, which Nigeria cannot always do because her model of financing is mixed and different. All over the world, health bills must be picked up by one way or another, emergencies or not, through different mechanisms involving government, groups, out of pocket for individuals...if we agree that money is needed to continually procure inputs into providing health goods and services. In a system, where citizens pay taxes on a regular, which is a major source of government revenue, why would they have it any other way? Yes the system is faulty and must be changed but we are talking about doctors here, doctors who signed the oath of do no harm. Let's focus on just emergencies, do they deny treatment or not? If yes then no excuse in the world justifies a person dying or seriously harmed because the doctors waited until payment was made. Excuses can be made for doctors working in clinics or even private doctors but when you work in a government hospital, you are backed by public funds. THERE'S NO DAMN EXCUSE! |

Rocktation: If only you knew the half of what goes on in the abroad, where they make us, "mere international medics" to pass their board exams before practicing, you would cower down. Nigeria did not place a monopoly on questionable ethics or fatal mistakes. In fact, we got our idea of having mortality reviews from these abroad people. And payment is done upfront too, if correct procedures are not taken to qualify for free treatment, or covered by insurance...which invariably takes us back to the little tools we have at our disposal that we must work with....we could go round and round these issues all day. The entire system just needs to work better, is all. I've lived in the USA almost half my entire life, I not only have doctors in the family and friends but I've been privileged to work with 5 or more. The thing with abroad is that if you know what you're doing you would have no problems passing the board exam. Payment is done upfront? You mean someone with an emergency gets to fill out paperwork and payment info. before receiving treatment? I don't know which of the abroad you're referring to but most definitely is not USA or UK. The only point you made that is applicable here is that government needs to do more to ensure insurance or free treatment programs are available to those in need. |

Rocktation: I've worked very closely with Nigerian doctors -in Nigeria. And apart from the absence of state of the art medical equipments in our facilities, the most of these doctors aren't as incompetent, as a lot of Nigerians portray them to be. If anything, using the little that is at our disposal, speaks volumes of our proficiency. It's not incompetence per se but unethical and downright immoral. Most will refuse to treat without payment, most will take shortcuts that could lead to serious injuries or death. This is why no matter the level of education and experience as a medical doctor in Nigeria, once you get abroad you still have to pass the board exam and some additional education/training before you are allowed to practice. |

The same way those your so called black and brown skins found their way into white man labs and be able to be part of those breakthroughs.
The point "The Whites build platforms" for dreams to be easily achieved and problems to be solved and life to be made, easier. Thats why I was grateful to them in my first comment.

You are one of those blacks who continue to blame the whites forever instead of rising from their challenges. Yet you left your Africa for a better life in the White man's land. You got those right? You rose from your ghetto country to elite country.
The point is clear, let the black stop blame game, change their mindset and rise up. Who's blaming the whites? If anyone is to blame it is our greedy ancestors. I only stated facts which shows the mutual benefit to both side, you can't say be thankful to whites as if they're the messiah without knowing that your fellow black and brown skinned people are also part of the research/discovery team. I asked you a simple question about your dreams but you couldn't answer, could the reason be that you've never thought of your fellow man or being an agent of positive change? Perhaps you're content arguing baselessly on a nameless forum? Either way, that's your cup of tea. Just listen to yourself...... Do you know the meaning of oppression? Have you ever seen a school from the ghetto rise above the ghetto to become elite? Rather, what you'll see is schools like Havard, Yale, Cambridge continue to excel. The same principle applies here, you can't emancipate yourself if you don't know that you're in slavery. Majority of Nigerians would jump at the chance for U.S citizenship if it meant just ordinary slavery of 5 to 10 years, majority of Nigerians and in larger sense Africans are incapable of emancipating themselves. You for example, what is your greatest dream? I bet it involves money, building a house, a successful job/business. I bet you've never thought of ways to help those suffering in your community, you've never thought of giving part of your income to those kids struggling for food daily. The Chinese probably bought or rented the place they are using hence it's theirs (for that period at least). The business is also theirs and they can decide how they run their business. They are not stopping you from eating anything, if you want a particular food, go to another restaurant or build your restaurant. It's that simple. So you mean I can open up a business and decide I don't want to sell to Igbos? Perhaps I can open up a hospital and refuse to treat Yorubas? While I'm at it, I can build an hostel and refuse to let it out to anyone with a disability. Imagine your kids waking up one day and wondering why he or she can't eat ice cream because of his or her nationality?
