Mercychen: This has lost the touch and idea of a real beach with all these funitures and decors.
A beach is supposed to have that feel and view of nature. Anything short of that is a resort center.
I don't fancy this kind of artificial view in a beach. Give me the beautiful sand, coconut trees and huge water body that are common features of a beach. This looks too unnatural.
I miss my childhood days when pops used to trip us to the beach. Building of sand castle thinz. Chai. Finally, someone who gets it. But I wouldn't blame the people behind the concept though. Anything to justify the outrageous prices they put on the drinks and food they sell, is a pretty good deal to them. |

If one woman amongst 100 doesn't agree with them on one specific topic, then that person should just be killed and left to rotten. I value people who have individual mindset, whether they right or wrong it doesn't matter.
Enemy within... Bruh I'm weak. I don't believe they actually care about bringing every woman on board. It's not as if they're 100% invested in the movement outside the confines of NL anyway. What they simply can't stomach is the idea that there are some women here who voice out opinions that go against theirs. In their minds, it would have been better for any woman with an opposing opinion to simply NOT comment. |

Yet women are marginalized.
So because we do not have 50% representation of governors or presidents, women are marginalized?
Do you even understand that men and women are different and want different things?
Must the quality of a woman's life be measured in relation to a man's?
Can't a woman define what a good life means to her and work for it? Tor... Trust me, even if equality of outcomes is finally achieved (highly unlikely anyway) and this set of women don't see any man to drag rights with anymore, they will move on to start dragging rights with children. For instance, if there's a fire in a public building, why should the children be saved first before women? This is proof that women are marginalized. |

Well-done PrimadonnaO on this thread.
We have ensured everyone has equal opportunities; now we are policing for equal outcomes.
We will still get to 'why do only women get pregnant when men & women have sex'?
A woman got the presidential ticket some years back yet only four people voted for her.
I am 100% sure that more than 4 feminists in Nigeria were eligible to vote and had PVCs.
They did not vote for her yet come to wail that women are marginalized. Do they even have PVCs? People whose activism begins and ends on social media. The ones who will bother risking their wigs and makeup to go out and vote, still end up NOT voting for the female candidates. Why? Because they have been conditioned. Robots. |

Will women themselves even vote for a woman who comes out to contest for top positions in government? A few women have tried in the past, in case y'all have forgotten. Where were all you 'female activists' then to carry/vote those women into the promised land? Or should we still blame this obvious inability for grownup Nigerian women to rally round and vote fellow women, on 'societal conditioning'? Total lack of personal responsibility is all... Pffft |

2. A marginalized woman.
She could have been so much more, but society has held her back and placed obstacles in her way.
She probably has a very unsupportive husband/partner also – and he is a misogynist for allowing her carry their baby while hawking her goods.
Her situation in life is NOT her fault, men have definitely caused it.

He is NOT marginalized because the society is fair to him and has provided everything for him to succeed.
Some might even say he lacks initiative to do more with his life.
His present situation is mostly his fault.

How can that be measured?
How have you reached that conclusion?
So if a woman says "I'm not running for the office of the President because society doesn't expect me to" do you think she still has any right to scream marginalisation?
No, she doesn't. Because her limitation is in her head, and there is nothing in the real sense stopping her from breaking free of it. https://www.reactiongifs.com/r/rdlol.gif |

Dear pseudo-feminists, please learn to differentiate between cultural issues and social issues. You can try to solve the later by associating with a movement and cause the movement to gain enough traction ( outside the internet BTW) that might bring about change. The former however can ONLY be solved by dismantling traditions ( also outside the internet), not through meaningless social media posturing.Tenks... |

PrimadonnaO: You know you've not said anything, yeah?
How has the paternalistic society stopped women from aspiring to be Presidentz et al? FreeIgboho: By conditioning and expectations, that's how. Human beings don't aspire to things you've conditioned them to believe from childhood is beyond them. Only the rare woman indeed can overcome such conditioning PrimadonnaO: This is quite intangible. Lmao... Intangible is a good word... But I prefer another. I was reading the comment and all I could ask myself is, what kind of "fuckxplanation" is this? You ask someone how women are being marginalized and what is stopping them from aspiring to anything they desire. They respond by telling you that women are not really marginalized, but the reason they can't aspire to certain things is because they've been conditioned NOT to. Like seriously? As big as these women are? At their age? So they already know they're conditioned and still they have refused to uncondition themselves OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE doing so will mean they can't claim victimhood anymore. Well, I guess it's so much easier to have no ambition besides being a man's wife and effectively hiding it behind the claim that patriarchy is the reason for this lack of ambition. Such blatant lack of personal responsibility for their own lives being masqueraded as feminism and women's rights. |

mariahAngel: Well, his reason for wanting to throw away a more than 8yrs old relationship is not valid enough in my opinion. Although if you ask me, I'd say he never really loved Chioma to begin with. Perhaps, and say you're right, isn't the absence of love a valid enough reason to end it? Or should he go ahead and hope the love will grow as time progresses? Remember also that his mother is against the marriage, so it's good time to avoid MIL and DIL iissues that will definitely come up later. My intention (with my earlier comment) was more to provoke some thoughts in him, and never to emotionally blackmail him. I'd do the same with any of my brothers if they were going to make such a decision in a similar situation as the op's.
I think the op should really think things through. A person who complements you doesn't come by easily these days. Lol, okay. |

PrimadonnaO: I feel he's screwed whichever way. If he does a 360° and abandons her, he may always feel guilty... he may end up marrying someone else as a rebound only to regret it down the line.
And if he goes ahead to marry her, he will likely be financially stressed for sometime... there's no telling how long. Heaven may smile on them in good time.
He needs to take time off to think things through...and pray, too. Well, there'll always be consequences to every decision we make — could be good, could be bad, and both could be to varying degrees. So yea, while you're right that he definitely needs to think things through and pray (assuming he is the type who does), neither of these two will totally eliminate the consequences of whatever decision he finally makes. Above all, he needs to be decisive, resolute, and own his decision whatever the outcome may be – good or bad. |

"I just realised you and your family's too poor."
Somehow, in this story, what I'm most concerned about is how in 8 years, her station in life didn't change.
Since he was concerned and supposedly loved her, how did he not encourage her to further her education, even if it was an NCE.
How didn't she learn any skill she could have monetised?
Mind-boggling.
What sort of static 8-year relationship were they into? Maybe they were just busy having lots of sex the entire time, and it's now the sex finally cleared from his eyes. |

As far as the bride price has been paid, she’s his wife anyways. Calm down... People have thrown away more than 10/15 years of marriage for much less, and the world did not end nor did they earn the title of fool.If you ask me, I think he's better positioned to throw it all away right now than wait till when he's knee-deep in marital life before getting fed up. This however doesn't excuse the fact that he dated her for that long, BUT still, quit the emotional blackmail about how you can't do away with someone after dating them for years. Who died and made such a rule? Women even do it too, lots of them BTW... So calm down. |

The husband in this case is the 'enlightened' partner and should have developed the girl to his standard or influenced her to the point she is thirsty for the next level.
She is not even thinking of becoming an auxiliary nurse or chemist to complement her husband.
What were they discussing?
Was marriage even on the table or it just progressed to marriage because they have benn together for 8 years? I just dey look you with one eye... Anyhow though, your post is quite understandable given that you're more of a traditional woman in words, actions, and overall philosophy.
