Nigerians and lack of maintenance culture, wether rich or poor, na the same. To even mow his lawns neatly na problem. See how bushy the grasses looks. |
Smara:Na so na. The wording and terms are abraodish. If you have money and not in a haste, just kukuma build your own house and supervise yourself. Nigerian estate developers are experts in cutting corners. One man building in my estate now has to evacuate his family from the house he bought in Lekki and rented an apartment pending when he completes his own building. The one he bought started sinking after five years. He couldn't risk anything and just left the house with his family. |
I am not a social media freak. My main social media are Linkdedin, Whatsapp and Nairaland. I visit facebook occasionally. Not on any other ones. What does it mean to be "verified" on twitter and Instagram. They are known to use that word. I am old school o. There is no need to insult me ![]() |
I blame the idiotic parents that gives birth to all these urchins. My people, what awaits this country in the future is damming. Street children roaming everywhere. I drove to site through badore road in Ajah and saw many street children wondering about. What do you think they will become in the future. People without means of catering for their kids should be castrated biko |
Abasman008:Nigeria's environment is chaotic, disorganised and grotesque when you look at it from the window. We lack good environmental aesthetics in Nigeria with highly polluted environment and ubiquitous NEPA poles and telecom mast every where. |
My own na make Daddy Biden give me my visa. Trump denied me visa throughout his tenure and I wonder the reason behind his support by some ignorant Nigerians. Under Obama, my visa was always granted straight without any issue. |
So Atiku's son works with the Nigerian customs service? After his father had worked there, he made way for his son? Did he write the aptitude test, participated in the field events with white shorts and t-shirt and interview? All the above were for the average job seeker who stood no chance at being taken. All the choice government establishments are filled with children of top politicians and the rich. Their children can never compete in a competitive job market despite their foreign degrees and education. The street graduates from LAUTECH, Abraka or FUTO would always trounce them big time if recruitment were to be free and fair. But this na Naija. If you are from poor background in Nigeria, please take heart. ![]() |
Pochettino, the former Tottenham coach, is still without job. They should get across to him. |
She is already a Canadian PR holder, under international protection .na her own better |
Even the so called "Ebube Muo Nso" that people hero worshipped there still failed to sympathise with one of his staff. For Nigerian capitalists, people's life meant nothing to them. I hope that school is under the control of the diocesan Bishop of Onitsha. All these holy ghost fathers in SE are Lords on to themselves. Establishing and controlling empires without being controlled by their diocesan Bishop. Mbaka and Co. |
The man follow deceive us that year, 2005 for a concotted management trainee program for the brightest graduates from the Nigerian Universities and abroad. The program was well publicised, with a Federal government backing then. They said they wanted to hire 200 best graduates across Nigeria and abroad for their graduate management program to position NICON group as a world class conglomerates. ![]() All na scam. Nothing was heard after the whole show. Wealthy Nigerians and government scamming her citizens since time immemorial. |
This may become a recurrent issue whereby the state would become powerless in the face of increasing mob action. The general populace will eventually pay for this attitude of the citizens. Nigeria is fast degenerating into lawlessness. Ambode should take a blame in this Okada menace. Fashola did well by banning them that time but the rules were relaxed and they came back in full force during Ambode. Controlling them now is proving difficult. |
Nigeria and overhype - our standards are terribly low in this country. A simple family house in US or Canada is far more finer than this grotesque build |
From what I have discussed with people, top on the reasons for migrating is to secure a better future for their kids. Second on the reason is for security. Job is even on the last as some of the immigrants seems to be doing well prior to going. I am not an abroad kind of person as I believe that my success is going to be made in Nigeria. What I did was to ensure that I gave birth to my kids in Canada as all are citizens. But for now, all of us will continue to live in Nigeria. I also want them to know their culture, their root, language and the harshness of the Nigerian environment. I love the freedom I enjoy in my work, the big man that comes with living in Nigeria, the family and friends, the somehow chaotic Nigerian situation ![]() I hate boredom and I fear that Canada may be too boring for me just like UK. I lived in the UK for three years but never enjoyed myself. Was totally homesick most of the times and felt coming back but decent job wasn't coming at that moment. Luckily, a Nigerian company came over to UK and conducted interview for us and voom, I boarded my flight home and since then, even though it has been difficult, especially this year, I still believe in the future here. My only fear is the insecurity in Nigeria. My people, I like my lifestyle here and the ability to do things they way I want. |
baralatie:With Buhari in power?? |
KosiGee:You made sense bro - my sincere apologies. Generalizing is never a good thing. I used that word based on some comments coming from mainly SE resident guys. So sorry about the generalization. SE guys are very industrious and independent minded. Accept the assurances of my highest regard nwanne. Nothing do you. That statement was meant for those ethnic warriors not SE |
My own be say make them renew my visa for ten years. I didn't get any visa under Trump. I got all my visas under Obama, including birthing visa for my wife. |
Kenplay:I don't know how you guys reason. Even if the gas is to be fed to the North, is there anything wrong with that? Seplat is a private concern for God's sake and they can source for customer from anywhere. The gas is to be fed to companies and manufacturing centres irrespective of location. You guys don't produce any food and depends on foods from the North. What if the North decides not to sell food to SE, na another kwasiokor. Please let's live in peace and eschew ethnic profiling |
STRI1:YOU AND WHO DIE HERE?? BRO, YOU BETTER WAKE UP. THE BUS WILL LEAVE YOU ![]() |
diordaves:Ok. You win!! But still note that we practically import everything in Nigeria. Government's management of exchange rate is not sustainable by all standard of economics. Just imagine what will happen to naira when we stop importing fuel.Without government intervention, you will see market forces in action. Naira will appreciate immediately.Up to 55% FX demand from CBN is for fuel importation. Imagine what will happen to naira when we stop importing some of the food items we could produce here. My brother, forces of demand and supply will continue to affect the value of naira. For how long will the government continue to sustain and support naira from depreciating further? Using their strategic reserve which is fast depleting? Bro, we need to be productive, export more, consume more of what we produce, import less of what we produce and avoid wastages in governance. Government intervention in the management of exchange rate regime is never a sustainable policy. |
Lack of communication, trust and may be respect are behind all her action. To plate my daughter's hair, my wife will first of all discuss with me on the style or show me picture. I take interests on how she and my daughter looks. So before she collects money for weavon, clothes or hairstyle, she shows sample or else if it is not what I like, especially for my seven year old girl, she knows that she would have to take her back to the stylist for a redo. That has stucked with her. She engages me before any action and vice versa. It has been working. Communicate more with her and share your day with her as well. Let her be on the know of all your actions. |
In all situation, just remember the road that will lead you back home |
diordaves:Good write up. But note that there is no magic in exchange rate management. There is a limit to what the government could do. The country is simply not productive enough. Nigeria's export potential is simply not enough to earn her foreign exchange. When you are an export economy, you will have sufficient hard currencies to support your own local currency. Nigeria doesn't have that, and the forces of demand and supply will continue to weigh down on Naira, thus making it weaker and weaker. Government won't perform any magic. Simple! That's why you hear Government say they are defending Naira with their external reserve. The citizens and companies should be able to export goods and earn foreign exchange, which they will exchange back to local currencies for their operations, thus increasing the value of Naira. |
Badgers14:I have been doing simulation on the best business model for my wife's intended business since paid employment isn't forth coming. Guess what? None yielded profit considering all issues that may arise. We are going online. Online model seems to be the only one that yielded small possible margins. Her two friends that did the same business have all packed up even though she is insisting on having a physical presence. Luckily, I used the sad cases of her two friends to convince her to adopt the model I proposed. Nigeria's business environment is hostile and could be unforgiven to start-ups. |
I think the OP is in a haste to make money and start contributing to the family purse. You guys seems to be on course for a rewarding future based on your academic achievements. It is frustrating not to graduate on time and focus on something important. I was lucky to have even concluded nysc by age 24, despite reading a five year course. Life is a marathon and not a sprint. As long as you are making a steady progress, just hang in there and continue. Nigeria is good at frustrating people in a lot of things. All the best. |
EgunMogaji2:Opportunities abound but fear of risk and uncertainty is holding people down. Take a global perspective, a lot of investors sees Nigeria as a good place to invest but fear of unknown makes the final investment decision impossible or delayed A finance company in London, where a friend works did an investment survey and found the Nigerian market buoyant, but fear of uncertainty and country risk were too high that they jettisoned the idea. To tell you how far foreign investors takes risk seriously, they follow citizens discussions about the country on their own social media. They followed Nigeria and Nigerians to get perspectives and views about the people and the country. Some are even registered on Nairaland. |
They are welcome home - It is tough living abroad these days. |
SIONKPO1:He is a typical Nigerian that have been brain washed by his General Overseer pastor See wack thinking!! I give up on Nigerians ![]() |
Just as someone said, I hope the guy has a source of livelihood otherwise na wahala. The country is not smiling. I have seen two ladies regretted taken this route of accepting proposal from unemployed fellow corper. When their mates were busy with their respective careers, they were nursing babies for the husbands that were struggling, looking for better opportunity. Anyway, all the best to them |
demanuel:You are right. That's why we are working hard, even though this year is messed up and it hasn't been easy. I lived in UK for 3 years as a student but never enjoyed the lifestyle there. The children have dual citizenship but I still want them to understand their root, country and ways things works in a difficult setting like Nigeria. |
demanuel:Honestly, I am worried about Nigeria's situation to the marrow. EgunMogaji said it all. " find a way to survive amidst the chaos". Can our children be able to survive the Nigerian environment and chaotic situation in the future? Our generation have adapted to the situation and evolving an incredible means of survival. What about our children? Not less than 19 of my closed family and friends have all relocated to Canada. But living abroad again is not my thing. My wife sometimes see me as being insane for not considering that idea even when we have opportunity. Today, I have four relatives in my place all looking for jobs. Graduate and youth unemployment in Nigeria is the highest in the world. The economy is not productive enough to support job creation and the much needed foreign direct investment is not forth coming. All the federal executive council does in Abuja after their meeting is to share and allocate money for one road construction or the other. My brother, I am deeply worried about Nigerias situation. The weak are the most hit and their is no solution insight. Do our children have the same fighting and adaptable spirit we have? Sorry to say this, I haven't seen it yet in mine as the Nigerian chaos may be too strong for them to adapt based on their current upbringing. I have been thinking of finding an ingenious way of inculcating the harshness of Nigerian reality on them to be better prepared for any eventuality. ![]() |
