Christianity Etc › Re: What Did Jesus Mean By "The Poor Will Always Be Among You"? by gabicon: 11:54am On Nov 17, 2019 |
TechCapon: Seriously as Christians, we need to study our Bible and learn things for ourselves because there are so many things pastors will refuse to teach us in church and even if they do they won't elaborate on it. I was reading my Bible this morning and came Matthew 26 when Jesus was in Bethany and a woman came and pour an expensive ointment on his head, the disciples Judas Iscariot complained that she was wasting the oil that it should be sold and the money given to the poor instead.
Mathew 26:9 This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."
Jesus responded and said something very striking. Mathew 26:9-11
“Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing to me?You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
What did Jesus mean by that?
Did he mean that poverty is a phenomenon that will always be in the world forever?
If so, why are pastors always preaching prosperity? Why are they not telling their members the truth?
Bible experts please explain because pastors hardly preach about this particular scripture. I'm not sure what more explanation is needed, we will always have poor people in the world. Matthew 11:5 Jesus said the poor hear the good news, good news to a poor man is that he doesn't have to be poor, that's the prosperity message. We also need to understand that poverty occurs as a result of low productivity, so the message of prosperity is meant to spark the productivity catalyst. It's one thing to hear the message of prosperity, it's another thing to work on productivity, so Jesus is implying that those who don't work on increasing their productivity level will always be poor. But those who accept the prosperity message by working on their productivity level will beat poverty. The problem I have with some pastors is that they don't tell the poor the complete prosperity message, yes it's good to give but no wise farmer gives away his seed yam. We need to encourage the poor to use their little resources to create goods and services it's from the profit that they are meant to give generously. The poor are constantly told to give seed that they are meant to plant and asked to pray that harvest comes, but only thieves harvest where they don't plant. I strongly believe that the church is the key to ending poverty in this nation is the church. |

Family › Re: What My Wife Does Whenever We Have A Disagreement by gabicon: 8:18am On Nov 15, 2019 |
byna: We got married in 2012 and ever since then we have been blessed with 3kids (3,boys). I have a monthly upkeep of 130k for my wife as she only comes to our factory and goes home without doing much for the day aside taking care of kids and cooking.
I noticed that each time we have a misunderstanding, we both keep straight faces for days and she behaves as though she is less concerned to make up. It doesn't affect her chores or cooking as for me I hardly reject food served.
Now, after a couple of days, she would come for sex without wanting us to discuss and resolve the disagreement first.
Even when I feel rudely insulted, this happens. She feels whatever she does doesnt matter as long as Las Las na sex go end am. But I feel it's wrong and issues should be kept straight and fun time separate.
So we had same issues last week and we have been keeping straight faces yet I've been eating her food. Sometimes she joins me for mng prayers, sometimes she does her privately ( we do together before any misunderstanding) So this mng she appeared stark nude to my room and demanded for sex after almost 15 days. I told her it would be unfair if we sweep the pass e events under the duvet. She got up and told me she wasn't ready to discuss any past misunderstanding that she came to f*uck. I told her I wasn't ready till issues are ironed out.
She taught it was business as usually as my John Thomas always disappoint me each time I see her nude but today I was ready to turn her down.
I Want to know if it's proper to always treat ur spouse the way you like knowing fully well that sex is their weak point for reconciliation?
Mature minds pls You both just have two different perception of how to solve your problems, she sees sex as a solution while you want to trash the issues by talking about them. The reason for this occurrence is that you both have not deliberately but a communication framework for your relationship. You guys have to work on your communication, have unresolved issues for 15days is not healthy for your relationship, you need to understand that your children are watching and learning from you both. I think you both need to take time out to work on the modalities of your communication, sit together and decide on the rules and regulations of conflict resolution. Most conflict should be resolved before going to bed, some could last days but with constant communication. Please have sex with her asap you don't need this to metamorphos into something else, I will suggest you forget about what happened 15 days ago and start working on the communication process together. The process will have rules and regulations guiding it, I suggest you write them down and store them safe. For instance one of my rules is we don't argue Infront of the children, another is we don't correct each other in front of the children, another is we don't raise our voices when we have disputes. Some disputes are as a result of long term decisions that need to be made today, we talk every dispute before we go to bed, if it's one we still don't agree on, we adjourn it for a week and we both give it serious thought, then we come together and discuss it, if we still can't agree which is rare, we meet in the middle or sometimes when there are multiple disputes we pick two disputes and we both win in one. I'm not saying you should follow through with these methods, I'm saying create your own method. After sometime you both will know who makes better decisions in what sector and it will be easy to see reason based on track record. Cheers bro. |

Why is it that we breed citizens that can't honour contacts they sign? If they knew it contradicts their faith why didn't they reach out to their representatives in the federal houses or contest it in court?

AutoReportNG: Lagos State government has assured local boat builders of patronage, not only to strengthen the economy but to enhance interest in water transportation and decongest the roads in line with the vision of making water transportation one of the best alternatives to road travel.
The Managing Director, Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), Mr. Abdoulbaq Ladi-Balogun gave the assurance during an inspection tour of two major boat factories, V-Craft and Sierra Craft, in Lagos State on Monday.
He affirmed the government's commitment to efficient water transportation system, saying LAGFERRY has been mandated to identify and patronise local builders who have the capacity to build and adhere strictly to international standard practises.

“We want to build an eco-system and ensure everybody is carried along in achieving the multi-modal transportation initiative of the present administration to decongest the roads, so any manufacturer that meets our criteria will be patronised. We want to encourage local investors, particularly those that have an interest in water transportation to patronise the manufacturers of these boats”, he stated.
While disclosing the State government's intention to roll out commercial ferry services in the next couple of weeks, Ladi-Balogun assured Lagosians of a new experience in water transportation driven by the latest technology and built on safety, reliability, efficient services, comfort and value for money.

Responding, the Managing Director, Sierra Craft, Mr Olusegun Jaji expressed delight at the interest of the State government in developing local water transportation, especially with assurances to local builders that they would enjoy government patronage, expressing his delight at this administration’s commitment to improving and increasing water transportation.
He asserted his company's capability of producing and delivering world-class boats of international standard as required by the State government, maintaining that industry players are also ready to key into the vision of the present administration to improve water transportation as a means of decongesting the heavy traffic situation on Lagos roads.
Source: https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/11/check-out-these-made-in-nigeria-boats.html As nice and welcoming as this development is, there is need for supporting agencies to be created, for instance if there is an accident, or a boat packs up midway, or a boat starts taking water, or an head on collision, how do we manage it? Secondly, proper sailing route needs to be created as a result of current differential, a few ⛵ have capsized as a result of this. |

ursullalinda: Pls someone should break down in a lay man's language It's good for the economy, the average profit margins on businesses is around 17%, combined with all business risk. The government has been selling treasury bills at 12-14% interest rate. Treasury bill is a low risk investment, as long as the country is not destroyed an investor will always get his money with interests back. Now, it makes more economic sense to buy treasury bills with a profit of 14% guaranteed than to use my capital to build a factory with a possibility of 17% plus much risk (I may not even get 2% depending on how the risk play out) Lowering interest rate to single digit will force an investor who wants more money to produce goods and services. |

Mods, please help move to front page so that we can get more insight It's a tricky one bro, land may sound lucrative but is a long-term investment, also if the said land is not appreciating by at least 15% compound annually, it's a bad investment. Uber is also a good business because of the cashflow of the business, if you are disciplined in saving and can save 50% of your earnings from uber you should be able to raise the capital for your land. Land in Nigeria is highly overpriced, there are no amenities that justifies appreciation, their appreciation is speculative. My fear is that soon the bubble will bust, especially for cities like Abuja. O will suggest you do a comparative analysis stating the ROI in the mid and long term, investment decisions is not something that can be placed in the hands of random strangers, you need to do the work. |

sweerychick: Whose Fault Is It Anyway?
Good evening nairalanders!
I need serious opinions on this issue, as it has bothered me so much so I decided to bring it up here. It's about my younger sister and her girlfriend.
About 2 years ago my younger sis girlfriend met a guy that indicated interest in her, according to my sis her friend wasn't into this guy, in fact her friend was using him from the onset, my sis said that her friend told her that she doesn't like the guy at all because the guy according to her was a teacher in one private school and he isn't really what she wanted in a man.
But this guy loved her and my sis recounted one time the guy paid her tuition fees and gave her money for her project work. The guy was always there for her but her sis friend never liked him sometimes my younger sister will tell me that she should go for him she thought she was joking but little did she know that her girlfriend was serious.
When it was obvious she couldn't play the guy anymore, she had to confront the guy and told him face to face that they can't continue together, that she can't put up with him anymore and that he can have my younger sister as a friend since my sister is her roommate.
The guy was shattered and devastated, and it equally shattered my sister as well because my sister knew how much sacrifice the guy has made for her girlfriend. So the guy would meet my sister and start begging her to talk to her friend, and each time my sister tries to talk to her girlfriend to reconsider, she would turn it down.
So the guy gave up his efforts but maintained communications with my sister.
As time went by my sister and this guy became close, and they were good friends, so early February this year they guy got a contract job with Exxon mobile for 5 years at Akwa ibom, and he is now asking for my sister's hand in marriage. He's so serious that he has brought wine to my Father with his family members.
My sister told him let her put it in prayers. Because she's currently doing her NYSC. Upon hearing the news of my sister and this guy, her silly girlfriend that rejected him because he was low, is now beefing my sister and telling the whole world that my sister snatched her boyfriend away from her. it was so bad that she even tried to re establish communication with this guy again.
My sister told me that her girlfriend sent a message to this guy and told him that my sister once had an abortion when she was in her 3rd year, and some stupid lies. But she said that the guy knew that her girlfriend was lying and decided to block her. This got my sister infuriated and me also but the guy begged us to let her go That she's just desperate.
But I'm really really really angry now because she has been spreading malicious lies about my younger sister. And my sister is planning her traditional wedding with this guy by January So please I need suggestions on how to deal with this issue because I don't see my sister at fault here, and I only see a wicked and desperate friend trying to cause wreck in someone's happiness..
Mods I really appreciate if this topic is on front page because it's a serious issue.. There is a saying that silence is the best answer for a fool, I suggest you apply that saying. The lady in question is no friend of your sister, she knows she can't get the guy again,so what she is trying to do is make sure your sister doesn't get him also, friends don't behave that way. |

We don't stop drinking water because people drown in water, so also we shouldn't stop giving because some clergy abuses his office. Sometimes we need to ask some questions, how did the missionaries bring the gospel, education, modern medicine etc to Africa? These things were done through people's tithe and offerings, or are we going to say it was wrong for the church to have financed missionaries through people's tithe and offerings? Let us face the big elephant in the room, there is corruption in the church, we are afraid to say it but it's the truth. We can't overemphasize the value of economies of scale, giving as an institution beats giving as an individual any day anytime, we can reach more people giving as a church, we can get better deals buying as a church etc.
Giving offerings or tithe is not by force, it's by choice. Our giving has to be inspired by love not returns, most people believe giving is an heavenly lottery where they play a game with 1 kobo expecting to receive a million naira |

Let's get serious, In a democracy, the vice president is assigned duties by the President, the vice presidents aids are assigned to him by the same president. The relationship of a president to vice president is not a partnership, its a boss to a subordinate, Managing director to Executive director, they are both directors but one manages the directorate. The VP can't force the president to assign duties to him, he as no prerogative to do so. Lets not forget history so quickly, this same thing happened between OBJ and Atiku, in fact, OBJ even denied Atiku the right to use the presidential Jet. If we want things to change we have to make adjustments to our constitution on the duties of a VP. The only card on the table is to resign, that is if the VP feels he is no longer valued in the administration.
Resigning is out of the question, the VP's patron is planning on running in 2023, why remove an insider in the cabinet? As a matter of fact, I think this whole thing is about the 2023 ambition of Tinubu, what better way to weaken him than making his inside man weak? My instinct tells me that this thing will backfire really bad. |

But in Nigeria, reverse is the case here.
This same people struggling for presidential office in the country were together with this man we have today as president. They, together with him, promised us heaven and earth and till today, nothing good come out of their administration.
E dey vex me when I see dis failures fighting to keep ruling us without any remorse from their failure in governing. It not even up to a year, they are fighting for who will be next. Failures!
Old men with empty brain! Kind sir, developing an economy is like planting a tree, the first few years it doesn't look promising but all of a sudden the tree begins to produce fruit and give shade. What Trump is enjoying is the tree planted by Obama, unemployment had been on a steady decline so also was inflation. The prosperity enjoyed during the Yar-adua GEJ era was as a result of the sound policies by GEJ. GEJ didn't sustain the tree, warnings were flying everywhere from Sanusi to Okonjo to IMF that we were in trouble, then we handed over a dying tree to a recession-ist to fix and we are here. Politicians are not the failure, it is the Nigerian people that are the failure, Politicians win, Nigerians don't, old men with smart brains. |

igwegeorgiano: Friends on NL I greet you all. Trust your day is going well? It is with very heavy heart and confused state of mind I sent this post on this platform so you can advise me on what line of action I should take. Pastors and genuine men of God should also advise me on what to do as well.
There is this lady i have been dating for about a year and 6 months now. We love each other to the moon and most importantly we respect each other opinion and decisions. She is a born again christian who appreciates the things of God more than she appreciates me which of course I have no issues with.
When we agreed to start up a relationship after being friends for about 6 months, it was agreed that there will be no sex until the wedding night but at a point I asked her "what if we are done with traditional marriage rites are we still not gonna have sex? To my creates surprise she said we won't until church wedding is done. I did not actually took her serious.
Fast forward, on the 15th of July 2019 the traditional marriage was done in her father' compound in the east and all I was asked to pay and give was paid and given without any remainder . after the traditional marriage we went back to my house in abuja. Note that we were not staying together before now. I am base in abuja while she is in owerri. When we got home that night I told her we can now make love as husband and wife hence the traditional rites has been done and most importantly the bride price paid. To my amazement my wife bluntly refused. She told me she will never compromise her stand on pre marital sex
I have been very faithful to our agreement based on her claim that she is a virgin. But refusing me my right over her body after every thing including the bride price has been paid is something I can never subscribed to and to this end I have I have involved her parent and her pastor her decision however, still remain no sex till the wedding night. I am putting the wedding on hold for now until she willingly allow me make love to her and she seems not to be comfortable with my decision as well.
This is the dilemma I have found myself please I need your wise counsels on this. Thanks and remain bless. Moderators kindly push this post to the front page so it can have adequate views it deserves thanks What you have here is two conflicting perception, you are of the perception that after the bride price is paid you are married, your wife is of the perception that marriage is the church wedding. Perception is governed by teaching and believe neither of you is right or wrong, you were both taught the same thing with two different methods, one of you will have to come down from your high horse. I will suggest you fast track your wedding date or better still go to church for church blessing if you don't intend to do the church wedding. As much as possible don't force her, else you will violate her conscience and believe and she will detest you for that. In all fairness to her, she gave you her requirement for sex, but you didn't take it seriously, you didn't have the sex for more than a year and you didn't die waiting for the main wedding won't kill you. |

I can feel your pain my brother, but sympathy won't help you, it's been five years since you finished nysc, have you taught about getting a skill or learning a trade? The education system has experienced a paradigm shift, it's no longer get a degree get a job, that era ended in the 80's. Now you have to be able to add value to an organisation to get a job, intact the graduate trainee Jobs are increasingly becoming extinct. There are no quick fixes to your present situation, first I will advise you relocate cos since PMB became president cash flow in Abuja has significantly dropped, no more free money, secondly I you should get a job like say a teaching job as suggested to enable you meet basic needs and strategize. Thirdly search online for skills of the future and what it takes to master them, choose a skill and start learning it. Opportunities will sure open for you when you are prepared for them. Stay strong my bro, and put it at the back of your mind that it's not over until you succeed. |

Lol, the the FG don't have a choice, as it stands, a quarter of our budget is being used to service debt. No creditor will issue us credit if there is no improvement in revenue generation. The FG need to draw the line, it's becoming too much, at this rate inflation can rise by 5%, less money chasing many goods, a slow down in manufacturing, lose of manufacturing jobs etc are the associated risk if not we'll managed |

Racoon: Abeg what is The unit of currency in Nigeria today that these overfed Buffons want to be collecting state allocation in dollars? The Governors clique is one of the bane of our national development. Bros, the country earns in dollar, we are an import dependent country, meaning that raw materials for capital expenditures is priced in dollar. They give the governors naira, any slight fluctuations in the exchange rate devalues the allocation of a state, and the CBN makes profit from those currency fluctuations not the state. Secondly as a result of our import dependence, contractors have to go source forex, the value of a project will depend on how much the contractor buys Forex, again CBN is smiling and the state is at loss. |
