PoliticsRe: States’ IGR Hits N691 Billion As Osun, Ondo, Others Recorded Biggest Growth by gabicon: 4:37pm On Oct 11, 2019
We still have a long way to go, Netherlands is half the size of Niger state, they make $100b annually from agriculture. This means that Niger state has a capacity of $200b if agriculture resources are developed. I strongly believe that in four years with the right equipments Niger state can make $2b annually. Can you imagine osun state being the headquarters of sheabutter in the world or Anambra the world largest producer of oil palm. Our governors are mentally lazy that's just the truth, as a governor they can create agriculture reserved areas with offices were farmers can lease fertilizer, tractors, pesticides, drip tech equipments. The Government can set up a company to buy the produce from the farmers sell and make a profit. There are other ideas like tech zones and manufacturing zones the possibilities are endless, all this going to Abuja for survival is not sustainable.

The middle class of the Nigerian society don't watch local channels because they lack content, they watch cable TV, the target market for the likes of dangote, Glo, and banks are the working class. Their aim is to make them return customers. I think Baba George is ignorant of how big businesses work, they must have done a cost to benefit analysis b4 embarking on the advert.

The problem still remains that recurrent is twice the size of capital, it's just like paying workers more for a service than the value the service is adding. Debt service being a quarter of the budget is ridiculous. Subsidy has to go, legislation and executive jumbo pay has to go, it's no longer about comfort, it's about survival.
FamilyRe: My Genotype Is AS And My Fiancee Is AS; What Do I Do? by gabicon: 5:22pm On Oct 08, 2019
BroAchival:
Greetings to this great house,

As I type this message, my heart is heavy.

Up till today, I have never known my genotype till I went to do medical fitness test for my job/employment process.

I've being dating by girlfriend for about two years and seven months now, and I've always seen her as a perfect match to me, not because she's perfect, but because she's very loyal, reserved and calm, respectful, teachable, willing to learn, beautiful and very supportive to say a few.

Kai, the thought of losing her is killing and unexplainable. cry She had been a BLESSING to me all these while.
We've really worked on ourselves and helped each other to overcome our weaknesses.

With the challenges of my new and better job, will I really have that time to woo women and start the process of working on a woman to blend and suit me?

And this is a girl I'm planning to settle down with by the middle of next year, after I must have gotten used to my new job.

I have always believed that my genotype would be AA, but I was wrong!

Somebody told me that there's nothing God can not do, that he has seen people giving testimonies about change of genotypes. I didn't doubt him, it's just that i'm not the "churchious" type who easily believe all those stories.

Now, my questions are:

1.) Is it possible to have just two children without an SS child?

2.) How do I relate this sad news to her (after she has turned down several serious marriage proposals because of me)?

3.) Please, what do I do?

Please, help me and send this to front page for greater views and advice.

Matured and very serious advice needed.

Thanks.
i would think that the question of genotype is something that should be discussed before a relationship gets too serious. I lost 2 siblings to SS, its not an exprience I will wish for my enemy.
TV/MoviesRe: Bbnaija Vs 2019 Presidential Elections: See How Nigerians Voted by gabicon: 9:25am On Oct 07, 2019
Once again South Africa 1 Nigeria 0, we need to understand in this country that the end game of every venture is to make money. 240m votes @ #30 per vote #7.2b for a country with half its citizens living below poverty line. Then we now come back and say there is no money in this country, there is money but it's only misappropriated by both our leaders and the citizens. Let's assume all house mates were given #30m, it's still not up to 10% of what was earned. We need to transit from being a consumer nation to a production nation else we won't survive.

PoliticsRe: VAT Increment: Robbing Peter To Pay Paul? by gabicon: 8:43am On Oct 04, 2019
We have a perspective problem in Nigeria, FG thinks that raising money by excessive taxes will bring funds for development, I think this perspective is a flawed argument. Citizens are spending 2.5% more on goods and services, citizens are paying 5% taxes on online transactions, citizens are going to be paying toll gate fees, customs are impounding vehicles of citizens in the name of charges, subsidy will be removed in the next 2 years. All these are negative indications for production. The government will end up taxing the same people over and over again, they will need to be careful because people will most likely cut spending which could cumulate into a recession. The government needs more of its citizens productive, in the sense that don't scrap the bottom of the pot for leftovers, instead get a bigger pot and a bigger fire and enjoy the soup. We need venture capital grants, customs holiday to bring in equipment and materials, then electricity.
There are no quick fixes it will take time.

Good day people,

A month ago, I suddenly started feeling pain in my chest and dizzy eyes and numb palms and feet, I thought it was shortness of blood because I have been stressed for the past 6 months waking up out of bed getting into traffic to work and coming back in traffic late at night.

The chest pain feeling like my heart skipping a beat still didn’t go away, i couldn’t get a sound sleep every morning I wake up unrefreshed and tired through out the day

I checked my blood pressure one day at the pharmacy and it was abnormally high and I’m just 26 I went to the doctor and conducted PCV to check my blood count, malaria test and fasting sugar, all came out normal, he suspected angina so I also did an ECG which also came out normal, the doctor gave me paracetamol, vitamin B12 capsule and since then that is how I have been frequenting the hospital, each time the blood pressure still high.

Last week I was still at the doctor last Thursday and my BP was 148/96 at my age, yet the doctor doesn’t really tell me much he just keep prescribing the same sleeping pills and vitamin B12 and iron capsule.

Right now I presently can’t help myself to sleep, my day is always filled with fatigue, headache, dullness, I lose concentration at work, I can’t seem to get anything done because my eyes get heavy and my head be pounding me seriously. I don’t know what is going on I’m gradually losing the sharp young man I used to be.

Please, I don’t know if anybody has gone through a phase like this or if we have experienced doctors in the house please.

Please I need all the help I can get
You will have to take responsibility for your health, doing marathon sex isn't taking responsibility cause you are overworking the body. From your blood pressure results you are hypertensive, I home your doctor gave you blood pressure pills, if they didn't pls rush back and get some. All your symptoms are pointing to that direction, you will have to eat healthy and rest well, moderate exercise will also be helpful. As a result of your schedule I will suggest you have lazy weekends to accommodate enough rest. Wish you well.
FamilyRe: Is Intelligence Inherited In A Family? by gabicon: 3:55pm On Sep 30, 2019
Rapmoney:
Is Intelligence Inherited In A Family?

"An apple doesn't fall far from the tree" - English proverb.

I spent some years of my life teaching pupils/students at different times from Basic 1 to SS 3. Over these years, I was also able to meet with most of the parents of my pupils/students. One particular thing I observed was that pupils/students whose academic performances were very poor and who lacked the capacity to understand the various subjects taught, plus inability in exhibiting creativity, either had parents who were not 'averagely' intelligent or if they had one parent who happened to be intelligent, they didn't take after that parent; they took after the other in mentality and character.

I also observed that some kids might be intelligent, smart and academically sound while some or all of their siblings would be unintelligent and indifferent to creativity. After meeting both parents of such families, I observed that the intelligent child often took after either the mum or dad who is intelligent in attitude, mentality and character; in fact, sometimes, I have noticed physical appearances and features as part of the resemblance in nature. Have you ever wondered why some people do not study as hard as you do to understand the contents and materials of a course, and even teach you? huh Such people do not need to read much to understand! It is in the gene. Don't forget the brain is the seat of intelligence biologically; if children can take resemblance of one parent in terms of eyes, nose, mouth, way of walking, way of talking, etc, what stops them from taking semblance of the brain too?

When an intelligent person didn't inherit his/her intelligence from either parents, check deeper, there could be someone in either the mother's side or father's side he/she must have gotten it from. It is this inheritance that gives children the interest to learn, understand, cultivate the interest to pursue knowledge and exhibit creativity. It spurs the attitude of curiosity to learn in a child. Such inheritance of intelligence does not necessarily make a child to be intelligent but it gives the child that innate (natural) consciousness and desire to learn and create things in whatever field he/she finds himself/herself in future; whether in science, arts, entertainment, technology, education, finance or agriculture.

There is a high possibility that two naturally intelligent people will give birth to intelligent children if they marry. There is also a high possibility that the reverse will be the case if the two people involve are not 'averagely' intelligent. An apple never falls far from the tree.

This is the reason why I always opine that love is not enough in a marital affair; especially, when you as a young person, possesses some basic standards as regards an ideal and balanced family.
I'm not sure using a school setting as judge of intelligence is tenable. Getting exceptional grades in school simply means you were feed information and could accurately give back the information you were feed. Being intelligent means you leverage information from multiple sources to solve a problem in record time. I have seen taxi drivers that are more intelligent than investment bankers, just asking them how they break even will blow your mind. But as I have observed intelligence is not enough, it has to be backed by relevant information to birth excellence.

Daniel2802:
Good day, still don't know why I wasn't chanced to write this earlier, the rage inside has reduced now. Still I can't see things going bad that bad and keep quiet. I personally believe that change actually begins with I and you. Let's skip the drama and let me lament.
This is my second time of using Nipost, the first was when I received a parcel from Lagos and it got to me at Nsukka in three working days.

I made a purchase on Aliexpress and patiently waited for it to arrive. Do you know that anxiousness that comes when you order something and all? Yeah, it got hold of me. Tracked the package and it showed "Receive item at delivery office (Inb),A 2019-09-20 12:20:00 [Nigeria]". I went to UNN post office that Friday by 3:45 pm to check for my package, apart from the poor reception by the old woman who was at the front desk, she rudely directed me to an office inside.

I went inside and met the man and told him why I was there, he replied with, "We have been attending to Alixexpress orders since morning, we are busy with other things...". I stared at the man and hesitated to go, he looked at me and in an attempt to give me false hope asked me my name, to which I answered him. He told me he hasn't seen any parcel with that name and told me to come back on Monday. I humbly left for my place.

Fast forward to today being Monday, wanted to go as early as 8 am but I remembered it was a Government establishment I was heading to, so I waited a bit. Got there by 10:48 am, lo and behold I met a woman still mopping the office, let's call her woman A. I was shocked beyond words, she was only concerned with me not entering inside the office so as not to dirty the newly mopped old tiles. Due to the fact that I don't like to add to someone's work, I waited till the floor got dried and I went in.

I went straight to the office of the man that instructed me to come on Monday only for him to tell me they are busy. I became bittered and wondered what were they busy with. Oh, mopping of the floor by 11: 00 am. I jejely went back to their front desk and stood, I wonder why there are no chairs for customers to sit on and wait for the "busy people". While waiting another student came, she had a case of missing goods but her own story is one for another day.

Still standing, I was scanning the room with my eyes looking for a number I can complain to. Saw two numbers on a document posted on the walls of the building, 07055991756 and 07055991740 around 11:21 am. Tried both severally but the number refused to connect. We were there then a man in a suit came in, trust we Nigerians to showcase the 'Big man' mentality. People I didn't know were inside the building came out to address his issue. I muttered bitterly, "Shey it's because I didn't come here with a car that's why they don't want to attend to us".

The painful thing is the woman that is supposed to attend to us was still 'busy' mopping her part of the office and didn't bother to say a word to us except, "Shift from the road before this mud touch you", let's call her woman B. Woman A's concern was that we were blocking the front desk, the counter is very wide and she was the only there with nobody to attend to us. After more complaining, I still don't know why it's the language we choose to understand, another man there asked that those in charge should attend to us. The first man insisted that the woman was busy, the other man told us to exercise patience.

I suggested to the other girl to check Nipost's office for their official number, and we got it 07000NIPOST and I dialled it. It went through normal Customer Care call ish till I got to the part where I could complain. It connected with an agent and I started speaking to her, poured out my heart to her only to check my phone and see that the line had disconnected. I don't know if my issue made her end the call or not. Tried the number again severally, they kept saying their agents are busy at the moment. I wonder how many people are complaining about Nipost at the same time as me.

Finally, by 12:00 pm the man that was telling me they were busy came to us and took us to the Aliexpress parcel part of the office. He looked at us and asked," You people don't understand the meaning of someone being busy?, So if you were busy with something at home and someone came, you would leave the thing to attend to the person?". I laughed in mind and replied," Yes Sir I will". He was shocked, maybe he was expecting me to support him so as to obtain my parcel. He tried to suggestify his actions with the excuse that if they start handling Aliexpress orders, they will be stuck with it till 4 pm. Shey, they want to come to work and be idle?

In the end, the other two girls saw their parcel and I didn't see mine in their book, yet Nipost's website is saying the stuff has arrived. Let me not think to that side yet.

My annoyance is not the fact that I didn't see my stuff but the way they treated us because we were students. We students are busy too, ask around exams has started in UNN. Yet they treated us anyhow and many times said, if we couldn't wait, we should go back and come the next day.
I am also displeased with the fact that a whole Nipost has no efficient customer care line. The branch has poor customer service and all, don't know if it's because it's filled with old people who feel they are doing you a favour.

Thanks for reading, I hope we can push it to the relevant authorities.

A Concerned Nigerian.

My dear, send a mail to the postmaster general and thank me later. I had a similar experience with them sent a mail on Friday, by 8am on Monday the guys at the post office were practically begging me to come get my parcel.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Should Stop Blaming Buhari by gabicon: 1:44pm On Sep 18, 2019
frosbel2:
Fallacy of blaming Buhari ;
When Nigerian names are mentioned every single day killing both locally and abroad, we need to sort our house before we blame Buhari. When Nigerian Youth are caught with drugs abroad or caught in scamming scandals, it is not because Buhari did not provide Jobs, it is because of GREED, GREED and then GREED.

When Nigerians cultivate a culture of living large by any means necessary, and when we have parents and elders turning a blind eye, Buhari is not to blame. When we celebrate excess, corruption, and material things at the expense of contentment, community and humility, Buhari is not to blame.

Our land is soaked with the blood of rituals, saturated with the spirits of kidnapped victims, laid to waste with LAZY LAZY YOUTH who refuse to do work and want to be stinking rich overnight. I am tired of our people’s tolerance for evil and wickedness, I am tired of the criminal mindedness of our youth, I am tired of wicked governors and leaders and I am ashamed of parents who encourage their children’s criminality by silence and subtle encouragement. How will Nigerians resolve all these problems? Will our hate for Buhari quench our lust and thirst for money? Will our hate for Buhari stop our youth from kidnapping and ritual killings? Will our hate for Buhari destroy corruption? Nigerians, we need to look ourselves in the mirror. Why do other countries ‘hate’ us?

Solution ;
Are we going to continue to support a culture of arrogance, wanton greed, criminality and then blame Buhari, or should we stand together, acknowledge these problems and ROOT out all undesirable elements in our communities and states? We have to make our homes, offices, villages, towns, cities and states unbearable for wicked people, we have to bring back the death penalty and long prison sentences for hardened criminals.

But most of all we need the government to help provide the infrastructure and maintenance that will encourage investors and local businesses. We need our rich countrymen to start investing more at home than abroad and create jobs for the youth. We need to revamp the civil service and education systems and make them more efficient, cost effective, smaller in size and uproot the culture of bribery and kickbacks. We need a better education for the youth so that they can be delivered from ignorance and illiteracy. Police force must become more accountable and the army should not get involved in civilian affairs, harassing ordinary people and supporting crooks and criminals in our society.

Yes we need good leaders, and we can only talk about good leaders when we ourselves begin to hate evil with a passion, when we refuse to partake of blood money, when we turn looters and corrupt government officials away, when we vote out bad leaders and we start embracing decent, hard work that is able to create opportunity, wealth , pride and peace.

The revolution starts with US, the People.

End of rant.
As it is popularly said, everything rises and falls on leadership. The leader is supposed to chart a course for the follower's. The Nigerian youth only misbehaves because they feel there are no consequences for actions that perception was given them by the government. They go outside the shores of Nigeria with this perception and soon find out that foreign countries won't tolerate bad behavior and will hammer the consequences of bad behavior to the letter. Yes, the family and society have a part to play in the upbringing of a child but also the government has a bigger part to play in delivering consequences for actions.

Towerty:
Good day NL fam. I need your help to get my fashion business back.

I started this business about 4 years ago sewing for clients and running a fashion school which had been good. I had a fairly large number of clients which takes care of the business expenses and meeting up with some other minor demands.

We needed space and organisation which prompted me to move into a 2 bedroom apartment of which the difference in rent is small. Most of our clients , over 95% came from online ads and referrals.

As such we had no fear that it will be business as usual since we do not operate with passers by patronising Us.

Since we moved into our new place in same location., since January, business has been dead speaking on a soft term.

We run adverts even better than before , every month is a more sad story. No patronage at all. The school is practically on hold right now as no one is enrolling for our programs.

We have been keeping hope alive but it seems not worthwhile. In 3 months to come , we hope to renew our rent. And as we speak , not even a tenth is available as savings.

Please help me with suggestions on how to revive this business. Thank you.

P.s: Expenses did not increase at all. We didn't employ new staff.

Mods, pls push this to front page to get the much needed responses. Thanks
All standard organization in the world depend on return customers for cash flow, I hope you have a database of all your customers that patronised you, and I hope you've been keeping in touch with them, sending them festive messages.

I will suggest you start contacting your old customers and try and make them return customers, create a new campaign and send to all your old customers, sell your newest innovation to them. They have used your services and if they were satisfied they should come back.

My life has always been going well until I lost my dad when I was in year one in university, it shocked me so hard but I still manage to graduate...

I graduated and served d nation.

I have always been an extrovert and I like places that are lively...

I have a lovely gf who is so understandable even though I'm not taking care of her as expected cos of my lack of job

I served and returned home, I have spent 9 months at home since after my service, I looked for job everywhere but no job in sight, my uncle looked for job for me but d job is too tough with little salary ( they call it sales representative but d description is of sales boy), going to work from Monday 8 am to 6 pm Saturday with 18k salary which 6k will go for transport fare in a month.

I know I won't be able to cope with it so I rejected it, but it now seems I'm becoming a burden to my family as they look at me as if I don't want to work.

A woman told me to come and be teaching in her school, jss1 and jss2 only typically a new school, the school location is typically a village, but d pressure from home is much for me and doubt
left me with no choice than to accept d offer, d pay is 25k per month... Though out of it I'll be d one to pay for rent and furnish it, house rent is #1500/month....

I traveled to d place today and I can't believe what i met, d place is a very local place and everywhere is just so quiet and boring, i have 5 students in my class.

My gf is already serving and we've not seen each other for months which is already having a bad effect on our relationship...i got home this afternoon and having deep thinking with tears in my eyes if this is how i will continue to live my life...Im 27yrs of age and seems no direction in where my life is going...

Pls, i need mature advice from mature people pls...

It's looking as if i can't survive here at all and my gf is complaining cos better things are not looking to be forthcoming soon.

I'm typing this with tears in my eyes, pls pardon d errors
I can feel your frustrations bro, but the truth of the matter is that you are still living in the past. In the 60s, 70s and 80s people finished school and got jobs but in this new era you need a skill to get a good job, without a skill you will get jobs that anyone with an average brain can do n the pay is low.

What I'm explaining to you takes the average graduate at least2 year post nysc to understand. The era of graduate jobs is over we are now in the era of skilled job meaning a skilled area boy will be preferable to an unskilled PHD holder.

The first step for you is to stop feeling sorry for yourself, graduates in developed countries are facing similar plight.

Secondly information is power, take your phone and check for the skills of the future, corelate these skills to the Nigerian environment, research on the skills and pick one skill you will like to make a career of. Like data science, 3d printing, ux design, AI, business analyst etc.

Commit your time to learning theses skills and join communities (like association, WhatsApp group, social media forum and LinkedIn).

Trust me in 6 months, your vocabulary will so change if you are diligent with it. You start to meet people that do the same thing and from there opportunities are shared.

For example I went for a conference and met people that had similar skills like I do, a WhatsApp group was created and somebody in the group just posted that a new company from America is coming into the Nigerian market and are looking for people with my skill set.

Don't lock yourself up in a room crying, go out socialize, it is seen people that get help and see opportunities.

You will be surprised that in that village you are in there are opportunities, you just can't see it because of the sunshade of self-pity you are wearing.

As for your love interest, you both are in the building phase, I will suggest less of fun and more of work.

Lastly don't forget to make God the first priority He only can open doors.
PoliticsRe: Why Nigeria Should Nationalize All South African Companies – FFK by gabicon: 10:35pm On Sep 08, 2019
We need to be logical with our accretion, investment they say is a coward, the slightest perception of threat it shuts down. South Africans are not the only investors in Nigeria, we have other nationalities if we hostile take over SA business don't we think that other investors will get afraid for their investment? This will weaken investors confidence, nationalizing SA assets is out of the picture. That is not to say we can't impose sanctions on their goods and services like president Trump is doing to china.
Christianity EtcRe: The Bible Does Not Support Drinking Alcohol, Don't Let Anyone Fool You by gabicon: 11:15am On Sep 08, 2019
alBHAGDADI:
Hello,

There's this wrong believe among Christians that the Bible supports drinking alcohol but only in moderation. They say we can drink alcohol but we shouldn't get drunk. Well, I will be using Bible verses to show that Christians are not to look at alcohol not to talk of drinking it. Also, this thread will debunk common lies told to support drinking alcohol e.g Jesus turning water to wine.

The word wine is mentioned 231 times in the Bible. But the mistake we make today is that we think the wine mentioned is just alcholic wine. Half the time wine is mentioned in the Bible, it is about fruit juice.

In the Greek and Hebrew languages in which the Bible was written in, the word translated as wine was used to refer to alcohol and also fruit juice. So when those who translated the Bible into English did so, they had to look for an English word which could mean alcoholic beverage and fruit juice. That word is wine. You might wonder why the translators didn't make things easy for us by just writing fruit juice when the verse is talking of fruit juice and write alcoholic beverage when it's about alcohol. The thing is, doing such would mean they are injecting their own idea into the Bible.

Now, in modern times, we have this believe that wine means an alcoholic drinks. That's why we think the word wine in the Bible is always referring to alcohol. Let's me show you that wine in the Bible doesn't always mean alcoholic beverage but fruit juice.

As seen above, wine is found in the cluster i.e wine still in the cluster of grapes. This is purely fruit juice and not alcoholic.

However, grapes usually have a white powdery film around it called yeast. It is that yeast that is made use of to make alcoholic wine. They crush the grapes and in the process the yeast mixed with the fruit juice that was inside grape cluster. Next fermentation takes place then the result if alcoholic wine. Most times, wine makers add more yeast to attain the desired alcohol level. So you see, wine moved from normal fruit juice before it became alcoholic wine after yeast was added.

Now, there are two types of wine as explained above: The alcoholic and fruit juice. There's a certain type of wine the Bible said we shouldn't even look at, not to talk of touching our lips with it. Read the passage below.

The verse above is talking about alcoholic wine. It even describes fermentation process. It says we shouldn't even look at that type of wine. Yet some folks say we can drink it in moderation.

It describes the feeling one gets after drinking alcohol. It's a horrible feeling.

Have you ever had alcohol such that after taking it, women whom you would never touch with a ten foot poll suddenly start looking attractive to you? The above verse describes it as the effect of alcohol. It also describes how you start saying all sorts of junks which you would not normal say.

Remember when you lie down after taking alcohol and the whole bed seems like you are swimming, and also you feel like you are floating and your eyes being dizzy. That's the feeling described.

After the whole horrible night and you wake up to hangover, what's the cure drunkards usual prescribe? They say to cure hangover, start drinking again. That's what the above passage described.

Yet, some people say we can drink alcohol in moderation and that it only becomes a sin when we get drunk. Sorry buddy, the Bible says don't even look at it.

The Bible doesn't say we should drink alcohol in moderation. It says we should be sober at all times (1 Thessalonians 5:6 Titus 2:3).

Now let's see the common verses people love to twist to try to say we can drink alcohol

The first is found in the passage where Jesus turned water into wine. They fail to realize that it was fruit juice kind of wine, not the alcoholic or fermented one. Let's examine the passage carefully.

According to some people, it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into and gave the people at the wedding to drink. However, a closer look shows that not to be the case.

Pay close attention to verse 10 where the Bible says when men have well drunk. Let's see how the New International Version (NIV) renders that verse.

If it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into, then it basically means he wanted to destroy the guests at the wedding. After they have had too much to drink, Jesus decided to give them more. That means if there were cars back then, many would have accidentally on their way home. Remember the passage in Proverbs 23 which talks about the horrible effects alcohol. If we say these people were already drunk on alcohol, then Jesus just helped them double those effect in their life by giving them more. This means they would start to behold strange women and say perverse things. Now, tell me, who would want to listen to Jesus preach the next morning after the "alcoholic wine" he gave them to drink made some of the men to sleep with their housemaid to the anger of their wives? Made them to saw perverse things to their boss? Made them to sleep in the gutter? Yet you say Jesus gave people alcohol to drink.

Jesus didn't give anybody alcohol to drink. Doing so would mean he's a liar. Remember what he said in the passage below.

If it was alcoholic wine Jesus turned water into at the wedding in Cana, then he abolished the law and the prophet which spoke against alcoholic wine in Proverbs 23:31. So clearly it wasn't alcoholic wine he turned water into but fruit juice.

Another passage people love to use for an excuse to drink alcohol is seen below.

Mathew 11:18-19
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

The above passage talks about a false accusations against Jesus who pointed out how they also falsely accused John the Baptist. Yet, some people will say because Jesus was accused of being a drunkard then it means he use to drink alcohol. Was John the Baptist possessed with a devil? No, but he was accused of such. I now wonder why you believe Jesus drank alcohol due to some false accusations. Remember, the accusation is that he was a drunkard. So if you use this verse to justify drinking alcohol, then don't get angry when some tells you that Jesus use to fall into gutter after getting drunk; he use to behold strange women and say perverse things. Can you see how wrong they are with their interpretation of the passage?

Another verse they use is seen below.

They pick the verse out context and say God is telling us that we can buy alcohol and drink it. If you read the previous verses, you will see that the context is about tithing. Those items listed alongside strong drink are to be brought to the temple for sacrifice to God. Some are eating, but it excludes the strong drink because nowhere in the above passage does it say drink the strong drink, same way it doesn't say drink the oil. Now, see what the strong drink is used for.

The strong drink or wine is poured out onto the Lord for a drink offering. It is not to be drank at all. But people have twisted the verse in Deutoronomy 14:26 to mean God is saying we can drink alcohol even when he said in Proverbs 23 that we shouldn't even look at it.

Guys, drinking alcohol is a sin and every Christian should abstain from it. Don't let anybody fool you into think moderation is the key. A little sip sends your good sense of judgment out the window. That's when another glass or bottle won't seem like a bad idea. And note, wine has tripple alcohol content that four bottles of beer. So don't think drinking a glass of wine is sophisticated. You are emore alcoholic than the beer drinker.
Lol, I think you are just trying to justify your stance, anyone can take scriptures and make it say what ever they want it to say.

Alcohol is not bad, the abuse of alcohol is bad, food is not bad but over eating can have adverse effects on ones health. Many of us take syrup, there is some alcohol in most syrup medicine, does that make taking medicine bad?

God doesn't want anything to have control over man, man must always be in control, so if you can't control alcohol be sincere with yourself and stay away from it, abuse of alcohol is also the cause of a number of illness, therefore it's important to control it's intake. But don't discourage people who take alcohol responsibly.
FamilyRe: My Sister Is On The Verge Of Making The Worst Mistake Of Her Life by gabicon: 1:05am On Sep 08, 2019
blackangel0403:
Hi guys, I i need your sincere advice pls.

My sister is a divorcee with two kids she is solely responsible for. Life has not been fair with her.

Finally, God brought a cute man who is based in UK her way, the man is willing to marry her and take her to the states, he has come to see our parents and also took her to see his, they have agreed to tie the nut in December this year.

The guy is currently in Nigeria and has been begging my sister to get pregnant for him, my sister knows for sure he will marry her once she is pregnant but doesn’t want to so that pregnancy doesn’t stop her from meeting other guys pending when he comes to pay her dowry. Note, they met in the club but the man still overlooked it and still proposed marriage to her.

Sincerely speaking, she wants to settle down with him but her problem is that she doesn’t want to get pregnant and stay alone all by herself pending when the man will take her and the kids to the uk, she wants to take in when she has moved to the uk, but then she is scared she might loose him before then as they are already having misunderstandings been that my sister likes hanging out with friends and going clubbing which doesn’t go well with the guy.

Now the guy is having double mind on if he can go ahead with the marriage or not, I have adviced her to take in for the man and by dec her dowry will be paid but she is adamant, pls what is the best option for her in this situation?

Take in for this guy now he is in Nigeria and secure him or wait till December and risk loosing him, note he is a very cute guy and every girls dream, my sister also is tired of life and wants to settle down, if she takes in now, by dec her pregnancy will be 3 months, she is also bothered abt wat people will say on why she took in befor she was married to the guy, my parents also especially my dad will frown at it but dey don’t know that life has not fair with her and she needs a man to call her own. Should she careless abt my parents and what people will say and take in or wait and do the proper marriage before she takes in?

She is 35 years old with two kids, no other suitor insight too.
First of all getting a spouse visa in the UK is not a walk in the park, secondly getting a visa for unadopted children won't be easy especially now that brexit is still very hot.

Thirdly you guys need to dig info on this guy, I smell a rat, and for God sake if it will be tough to get a visa for 2 children let's not go to 3 children.

If this chap is really serious about your sister they should have gone to court by now to get a marriage certificate which he will need to process her paperwork, he should have legally adopted her 2 kids.
