Nigerian women have equal access to job opportunities with their male counterparts. They are also paid same salary as their male counterparts. In fact, if you check the Nigerian labour market today, you're likely going to see more women being employed than their male counterparts.

Yet, these same women still expect Nigerian men to spend their own earnings on them while they save theirs. They back up their greed with verses of the Bible forgetting that the Bible was written at the time women never competed with men for jobs and financial success.

That imbalance is the reason why many men don't fancy the idea of getting married anymore. It is fast eroding the traditional family system especially in the "woke" parts of the country.

Christian religion supports that anomaly because they still preach that the man should take responsibility of the woman in marriage like it is written in the Bible. Yet they don't factor in the fact that the job market arguably favour women these days than men.

Islamic religion understand that granting such equality to both men and women in the job market would financially empower more women but would disrupt the family system. That is why in core Islamic countries, women are restricted to their traditional roles of bearing children and keeping the family while the men work. With that, their population keep growing while they take advantage of that population growth politically.

I have two elder brothers who are married. I also have neighbors, friends and acquaintances who are married as well. Therefore my post stems from what I see happening around me.

Marriage is an achievement only for the ladies. It gives them the opportunity to dump their problems on their husbands.

You see even a jobless lady running her mouth anyhow for her husband who has to go out even under the rain to make money lest hell would be let loose by jobless madam.

If not for the love of children, many men would not get married and even those who mistakenly marry would run out in a short while. But children are something else! Once they are there a man is greatly motivated to work harder and make more money to keep them taken care of and happy.

People like to deceive themselves that marriage is about companionship, but that is never the case. Many men would rather prefer the company of friends than that of women.

In all honesty, this is a very myopic opinion and I am disappointed that even @Dominique supported the op.

Evil people cut across all social-economic classes in the society. One thing I have come to understand is that there are people who are naturally evil and it has to do with their neuropsychiatric make up. While I believe that envy can trigger such people, I know also that many financially bouyant people belong to that group.

In fact, op let me inform you that making wealth require some level of evil tendencies! That is why old thinkers and theologists recorded it in the Bible that it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Agreed that there are those who might be lazy, but you and I know that it takes more than physical strength to make wealth. While I also know that there are those who legitimately acquired wealth cum those who inherited wealth, the majority of wealthy people especially in an evil society like ours made their wealth through one crooked means or the other. A good example are those in the political class.

So, op never despise the poor men in our society because wealth is fleeting and no condition is permanent.
