luminouz:Again, not true. Those are your opinions and I respect them, but it is a stretch to assume that, the generality of the public will conclude that, it is that simple black and white. I watched her video, I do not know if you did...she seem liberated, and stated that.."she found another or other opportunities" maybe having secured her income, she had the boldness to start her confrontation. Twelve juries in the US believed the women for an alleged crime committed about 50 years ago, despite the fact that they could not confront their abuser there and then, so it is wrong to assume 'no one cares'. My guess is, you are not one of those keyboard warriors and you put your action, where your mouth is and are out there at the seat of power in Nigeria in Abuja, carrying placards everyday confronting the political bullies leading the country down a ditch. |
luminouz:Again, not true. We are not all the same, you can’t use a single reactional or response-based yardstick to judge everyone and conclude that, those who don’t conform must shut up forever. There is nothing like, the right or wrong time to response to a bully or someone that have done you wrong. Agreed, it might have some credibility if you react to their face immediately and that might stop them from continuing or doing it to others; but in certain situation that might not be the prudent step to take or you might not be in the right state of mind to do it them or are not empowered or have the courage to do it; making factors could be involved. She felt that, she could not do it then and based on her video; she emphasized been a single mother and having a son to feed and afraid of losing roles...so, her fears are justified...if she lost roles if she had confronted her then, you wouldn’t come out and feed her and her kids...and not responding then is not a yardstick to disbelieve her or to state that, she must forever shut her mouth. Serious child molesters are in jail the US today, because women who didn’t have a voice or couldn’t confront them 20 years ago, came out and spoke two decades after. Most times, these people speak out to get emotional relief, because the have been bottling and suppressing this emotion for years and they just want to let go, as in free themself. |
luminouz:She was there to make a living, aka feed herself and family; and base on her story; Mercy had or have great influence....she gave in and took just to survive. Confronting Mercy then is like nailing her own coffin and kissing the industry she loved goodbye....it is even more suicidal than confronting a Boss that is mistreating you, because you can quit and get another job or if you get fired, you can get another job. |
lonelydora:What is wrong with the four point system? The concepts and theories you learn from these Universities were discovered, developed, formulated abroad by foreigners, if we can copy those, why not their assessment methodology, after all we should be producing graduates that are globally relevant and competitive. |
victorian:Na wao! How you come carry my matter 4bodi like dis? Na play I dey play oh! Today na Sunday, oya go pray for all of us and make sure say, you no forget to pray for di country and that ya sister marriage...say anything wey wan scarta-scarta di marriage go scarta-scarta too...even if that thing na Nairaland, facebook, whatsapp, phone....dem go scarta join! |
timesup234:[may contain lots of typos...] Here they come with the false equivalency again! Can we do some real comparison with data? First question, lets establish some baseline...who is an average Nigerian and how much does that individual earn, what industry does he or she works in, then use that data and march likes-for-likes with an average American. E.g. Is that individual a graduate civil servant on grade level 08 in Nigeria, whose income is strictly from his salary, no bribe, kickbacks, no government diversions, etc; then compare that same individual base on education, level of experience, years in civil service to a similar individual working in America civil service either local, state or federal...Are you saying that the Nigerian living strictly on his salary with no other dishonest income source is better than the average America? You be the Judge, use google and do computation of their earnings, etc and compare. Sometimes, we make the mistake of comparing celebrates and entertainers in Nigeria with professional Americans who are not celebrates or entertainers. If you want to compare A-list comedians in Nigeria like I-Go-Dey and their success within the Nigeria context, try to use A-list comedians in the USA, e.g. Chris Rock....or if you want to compare Davido in Nigeria, try use USA examples like 50 cents. Now brings the point about debts, money, riches, etc....What you fail to understand is that, 'money' is a fiat currency, it is useless without the value global economy attached to it. The America economy is built on credit system, without this credit system, the economy and it's value will crumble over night. Lets take a simple example of buying a car...does that your average Nigeria own car? Lets assume that he/she does not own a car, lets start deducting from his/she salary and save up money for him/her to buy a car..lets say that car is a Toyota Camry 2018, with a price tag of $23,000.00 (N8,165,000.00)...how many years of monthly savings will it take that person to save N8b? Level 08 civil servants in Nigeria makes on average about N980,000/PA....even if this individual is able to save 50% of his/her salary towards this Car, it will take them 16 years to afford the car..if they save 100% of their salary, that is about 9 years! Add 3.5% yearly inflation to that money, plus the fact that in 9 years time, a similar Toyota camry be above $23,000.00...Compare that, to a similarly situated average America graduate, who walked into the car dealer, sign a five years loan and makes car payments for five years. This average America gets that car today, the Nigeria will wait 9-16 years, and the American will start using that car to improve his standard of living, business, opportunities, network, horizon, etc and will pay off the Car in five years free and clear why his Nigerian counterpart is still trying to save money to buy the same car....my guess is, maybe in 10 years after owning the car free and clear for 5 years, he will sell it out and it will be shipped as tokunbo to Nigeria and be sold to his Nigeria counterpart. Use that same example above and ditto it for owing a house, starting a business, etc.....You have to use the credit system to work for you. This is the singular reason the average Chinese foolishly save money and live in penury and the wise America will come and borrow that money and live a comfortable high standard of living....since this is fiat currency, its value is useless and often is controlled by the America system. |
Myself2:If you re-read my comment, I used the word IF; and that is based on the original story and the defense of the worker and the reason for her post. My comment was, if her defense is true; then there is no defamation. I don't put much weight on Police arrest or their them filing charges, sometimes they are not worth the paper they are written on. Police can arrest anyone, and IPOs can charge anyone. A charge brought against anyone is not a proof in itself. We have seen even Nigerian courts striking out EFCC cases. IPO bringing a charge against someone in Nigeria, especially in a circumstance like this, in majority of the cases; might mean either the defendant did not pay 'bail' money or the 'bail' money was not enough or that the claimant have a deep pocket and must have taken care of the Police and is determine to teach the lady a lesson or to intimidate her to back down and back off. I don't have to be a Judge to know the law, it is your duty as a citizen to know the law and conduct yourself accordingly and also be able to assert your rights, if the Police or some Boss want to intimidate you. |
Issokay:What were you doing in the romance section? FYI: he planted the number there in the hope of catching you. Now you have proven him right, that you have an ulterior motive in constantly visiting the romance section. You better start confessing to him now or....time will indeed tell. |
Myself2:Go look up the law and meaning of defamation. It is not defamation if, what is alleged is true! If the guy is owing salary, then calling him a debtor or publishing online that he is a debtor is not a crime and it is not defamation. The over zealous police must prove that, what the lady published is false and untrue to get a conviction....all the lady need is a charge and bail lawyer and she will be free, otherwise the IPO will falsely push her into some stupid agreement that, she will sign to put her in silence, therefore making the debtor not to pay her and she not able to talk about it anymore. |
eazzzy1:It is only defamation, if what she said is untrue. If the Boss is truly owing her salary, then he is a debtor and the lady have every right to even publish that fact in the radio, daily and all over the Internet; if the guy lost business or is injured as a result, then it is because he is a debtor. All the lady need to proof to have the case tossed is: 1. She is owed salary. 2. The guy in question is responsible. 3. QED - Case dismissed! |
Were they praying or singing National anthem? |
tsdarkside:Not all charged court cases are worth the paper they are written on. It will be difficult for the Nigerian government to win an extradition case against him in UK, hence they are not going for it. They have prove that, the charges of treasonable felony were not politically motivated in order to silence his activism....and a clear evidence against the Nigerian government in such a proceeding is the fact that, the other people arrested, charged and locked up along with Kanu have not been prosecuted by the government; it appear that, the government is contented with just locking them up and throwing away the keys, without pursuing the trial to logical conclusion. Another case is Sowore, they arrested him, then start asking for 90 days to gather evidence against him; are you not supposed to have your indicted evidence before arresting someone? Agreed, you have to do investigation, but you should at least charge them to court for the offense you are alleging that they have committed. The government know that, if they fail in an extradition hearing, it will be a big egg on their face....also, even if they win and he is extradited; the trial will take a global status as the whole world will pay attention to see if it was been conducted according to international rule of law and that it is fair...it is a lose...lose situation for Nigeria, hence they would rather just ignore him and behave as if he does not exist. |
Martinez39:I didn’t see anyone saying, because a search warrant was obtained, then he is guilty. No one, except a Judge in a lawful procedure in a court and after giving the accused the chance to confront his accusers can be declared guilty. The Police must clearly articulate that their search will uncover specific evidence before a Judge will grant it. I think that is what he is trying to say. Also from the article, some of his accusers must have told the police what to look for. These could be circumstantial evidence of the crime, it’s cover up, it’s admission, etc. Whatever it is, the Pastor is a well known figure and we should give the police a chance to do their job. |
OP take your time! Am Army Corporal is not an Army Officer, they are call ‘other rank’ up until Staff Sergeant....ie three stripes & a bird. |
oz4real83:The reciprocacy is on visa fees and not on visa policies. America under Trump started enacting more tougher visa policies even, with previously otherwise friendly and developed countries. And if Trump have his way, birth right citizenship will be stricken from the books and immigration visa will be biased and selective only towards the best and brightest, family immigration category will also be removed and will only be on merit. |
aremuforlife:Even if he were not a British citizen, given the antecedent of the Nigerian government to clamp down on all opposition and label them terrorists; he can claim political asylum in the UK citing that, he wouldn’t be given a fair trial in Nigeria. The Nigerian government have over reached and can easily be proven in court to engage in duplicity; since they have yet to label the Herdsmen or BK a terrorist organization, but had done so to IPOB as they have to prove during the extradition hearing in UK that, they were fair in proscribing IPOB a terrorist organization and that he will be given a fair trial in accordance to international standards. |
OP, ‘Fatal’ presupposes tha...death occurred, from your reporting and the pictures, the soldier survived. |
You don’t need your battery when in traffic or when the car is running, your car gets its power during this period from the alternator and only uses your battery as a backup. If your car dies while in traffic, you most likely have an alternator’s problem and not battery’s...off course the battery will be drained because, as a result of the faulty alternator; it was the only source of power for the past 10-30 mins. |
AntiBrutus:Again, the key words are ‘without due Authorization from the customer’ with today’s technology that authorization can still be done and documented without wheeling him into the banking hall. There are CCTV cameras in the hospital, they can make documented video call, or documented video authorization. It is not true that, it is the account holder that will always go the extra mile. The scenario that likely played out here is that, this is not a big fish customer and his account value is not much. Bank managers are known to even withdraw money and take them personally to the account holder, if the individual is a big fish with a fat account. All these policies are usually only enforced to the later, if the account holder is poor, otherwise the banks know of other subsisting requirements to employed given the circumstance, that will still meet their authorization & verification requirements. |
AntiBrutus:You made some sense in your post. In many cases, there are alternative requirements when the original owner is incapacitated. The bank policy requires that he be verified and not necessarily that, he comes physically to the banking hall. Otherwise, why did the bank initially had to send their staff, then the bank manager to go to the hospital to take pictures? It appear, they wanted to verify him using alternate documented means, but someone at the bank put a break on all that and insisted on him showing up. |
I just hope he had the fore sight to withdraw every penny of his in that account before leaving. If they can play hardball like this while he is still alive, imagine the hell they will put his love ones through; God forbids, if he passes on. |
YungMillionaire:Why are so naive to conclude that, it is the same set of people that invited him, were the ones who attacked him. Agreed, they were all Ibos, but those who attacked him, were protesters and were outside, whereas the set that invited him were outside while some were there trying to shield him. |
obojememe:I tire oh! If he no come pay the fine nko, dem go ban am for next life join on top? The alleged crime is even flimsy, unless the rule book also kick against utterances with no actionable backing. But in a criminal court, it will be difficult to find someone guilty based only on their utterances, they didn’t carry out the deed and did not have actionable plans to carry them out - since, they can claim that, it is just bluffing or joke or intoxicated at the time. |
It is possible. But, no one can impose pregnancy on another in this day and age, there is DNA testing. Tell your guy to simply tell her that, based on the timeline, he have some doubt that he is responsible and that he will need a DNA test after delivery to clear that doubt. |
O boy! Tailors and their promise and disappointment no bi here oh! I am beginning to conclude that, Buhari self better pass tailor, when it come to promise and fail! |
judgementyard:O boy forget that side! All na setup by bloggers to attract traffic and clickbait.... The girl, the guy and the camera crew are working for their daily bread financed by your clicking, viewing and making the video to trend! |
Bros don’t ask her....if you had met her criteria for a hubby, she would have said YES by now. God only directs our steps, He does not point to a particular individual for us. Majority of those who seeks God’s face in marriage, still gravitate towards the things they like in the opposite gender. I also do not believe that, there is anything call ‘love’. We just call a laundry list of things we like to see on a ‘wife or husband’ material and gravitate toward the individual that have most of the things on that list and conclude we ‘love’ that individual. If there is true love for an individual, then the cripple brother and truck pusher should have had an equal shot at marrying the most beautiful Christian or Moslem lady around; but if you check those marriages, it is only available to the exclusive few. I believe only God is capable of Love, as he love us irrespective of who we are or what qualities or features or skill, etc we possess....no man or woman born of a woman is capable of love....and don’t start me off on those ‘love at first sight’ gibberish...I also love a ripe banana and groundnut at first sight, because I desire it so much right now! |
PASS - Evening news paper. |
Couple of things you can do to extract a pay back... Rate the customer 1 star, this will ensure that, she never get matched to you again. If she continues the behave, other Uber drivers will keep giving her bad rating, this will further isolate her and make her pool of available driver decrease with time and increases her wait time for a driver if she get matched. Also, Uber have started deactivating customers with bad ratings, so her bad rating will be a baggage that she will keep carrying until she get deactivated. If she go to bolt with the same altitude, the same fate will befall her. Lastly, remember to charge her clean up fees! |
post=81036499:Bros forget that English oh! Dem no dey carry ordinary eye do politicis for 9ja...those politicians must have settled village people or counter them via one or numerous babalawo or through the power of the Almighty. If doubt and have any friends who will be truthful with you and they are into politics in Nigeria..pull them aside and ask them how far. |
mrZENographer:It is common sense in Nigeria to known, if someone yell run run run.....many people will run before asking questions. Nigerians are curious by nature, all they need is one individual to point at the snake and tell them that, it just magically from from a lady...and that tales by moonlight will spread like wildfire, making that place some type of Mecca. As December is approaching now, you will start seeing people gathering here and there and in their Centre will be one inconsistent individual crying that one old baba touched him and his ‘thing’ disappear, and despite the fact that nobody will ask him to pull down his pants so to confirm...but the ‘news’ will spread like crazy, thereby attracting people.....methink if a guy’s kini disappear, there will be nothing to hide under there and he should be able to bare it all to prove his point....but till today I have yet to see anyone proving it, but the rumor comes in every year and attracts it’s own clouds. So am not surprised that, there was a crowd there and if you are a 9ja, the fact that crowd gather is common sense...in that it should be expected given salacious nature of the tale. |
KanielOutis92:Nobody is disputing what you witness, everyone saw the crowd in the video and the second video with the snake. But just like others here and also not shown in the video, you did not witness or saw a girl turn into snake, it is all hear say. |
