Utomi should not allow himself to be used by selfish and over ambitious people

Is it not funny that People who could not reach a concensus for months to present a common challenge against the PDP could within hours of loosing the election adopt Utomi as their spokesman. He should just respect himself.
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua Might Try To Implement Sharia Across Nigeria? by McKren(m): 10:29am On Apr 25, 2007
Please Yaradua a muslim serving as Governor in a predominantly muslim state is totally different from being President of Nigeria, if his people want sharia law why will he kick against ithuhhuhhuh??

But that is different from being President, lets be optimistic and give him a chance, all this unnecessary dust u trying to raise will get no where.
PoliticsRe: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by McKren(m): 10:28am On Apr 24, 2007
One thing that has not ceased to beat my imagination is why people will fight with all they've got to ensure the death of the third term and yet be calling for the cancellation of the elections which can only lead to either the continuation of this present administration or installation of an interim government. Can Nigerians begin to learn to think straight? Pleaaaaaaaaaaaase
u could not have said it better
PoliticsRe: FG To Name Ribadu New Police IG! by McKren(m): 10:08am On Apr 24, 2007
Frankly there are more serious things to do than to arrest OBJ, Atiku or IBB.

In the next dispensation I will like to see a more proactive fight against corruption rather than the retroactive fight we have today.

Why cant we have the EFCC or another audit body ensuring the projects executed at the end of contracts is commensurate to money commited?

Why cant we get every government to publish their Budget and set quarterly milestones on which they will be measured, so that those who are not up to speed with delivering the dividends of democracy could be called upon to account what they have been doing with government money?

The human mind is so corrupt and every average human will be so tempted to embezzle in our system because it is too relaxed. Lets help our leaders to help us.
There should be checks and balances not allowing people to fail and then going after as that does not help the ordinary man on the streets.
PoliticsRe: FG To Name Ribadu New Police IG! by McKren(m): 9:43am On Apr 24, 2007
The truth is that there is a silent revolution going on in Nigeria, OBJ is simply telling his age mates who are leaders to come lets go home and leave leadership to young and vibrant men.

Check out the army, Navy now Police.

The next should be Customs and Immigration.

Duke should be made the next Minister for Interior to revolutionalize most of our failing systems.
PoliticsRe: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by McKren(m): 9:15pm On Apr 23, 2007
if you think he is OBJ's paupet then read about him below

Profile: Umaru Yar'Adua

Yar'Adua: Taciturn, down-to-earth and not to be underestimated
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, the former chemistry teacher, is set to be Nigeria's first university educated leader, after being elected as Nigeria's next president in controversial polls, but little is known about him - even in his home state.

The reclusive Muslim governor comes from the northern state of Katsina and is not a major political mover or shaker.

But at 56, he boasts a political pedigree that dates back to the 1960s when his father was appointed as a minister in the post-independence administration.

His late elder brother who was an army general served as President Olusegun Obasanjo's deputy when the president was Nigeria's military ruler during the 1970s.

They were both imprisoned together after they were accused of plotting a coup against late military strongman Gen Sani Abacha.

Backing

Mr Yar'Adua's emergence as the ruling People's Democratic Party's candidate in the presidential election in April 2007 rests almost exclusively on the support of President Obasanjo.

Nigerian presidency sources say Mr Obasanjo used a mixture of inducements and threats of investigation by the anti-graft agency to persuade 10 influential state governors to withdraw from the race and back Mr Yar'Adua.

Analysts say that by backing Mr Yar'Adua to succeed him, President Obasanjo is will hope to continue pulling strings after he steps down.

Shortly after he won his party's nomination, Mr Yar'Adua paid tribute to President Obasanjo whom he described as "the father of democracy and good governance in Nigeria".

He pledged to continue with Mr Obasanjo's economic reforms and fight against corruption.

Independence

But analysts say that Mr Obasanjo might have difficulty trying to control Mr Yar'Adua who is said to be quite independent-minded.

"He differed with his own brother on many occasions and criticised him on many issues and so I don't expect him to be easily controlled by Obasanjo," says the BBC's Mansur Liman in Abuja
.

Although he is reputed to be prudent in managing funds in Katsina State where he had been governor for the past seven years, critics say contracts have gone to companies with links to his family's vast businesses.

He was among only a few Nigerian governors that publicly declared their assets before he was sworn-in as governor in 1999 and in 2003 - when he won a second term. He is also one of the few serving governors not being investigated for corruption.

As an undergraduate student in Nigeria's Ahmadu Bello University, Mr Yar'Adua was a self-confessed Marxist and criticised his elder brother's 'capitalist' leanings.

A man of few airs and graces, he is also known to have ignored the advice of aides and bodyguards to walk alone to tobacco kiosks to buy a single cigarette.

Described by his critics as taciturn and not known for his tolerance of opposition, Mr Yar'Adua has sometimes been underestimated.

As one commentator put it, "because he's quiet, people mistake him for a weakling. But he's someone who knows his own mind".

After his controversial election, he will need all these skills to lead one of the continent's most testing countries.
Even OBJ himself says only an unwise kingmaker will allow himself to be murdered by the king. Thus he understands his bounds when he leaves power.
I personally don't expect Yaradua to waiste too much time going after OBJ, Atiku or IBB. All I expect of him is genuine leadership that will see the transfornmation of the lives of ordinary Nigerians. This country is blessed and we can move on without the loots of Atiku and his likes.
PoliticsRe: Forced To Vote Against His Wish by McKren(m): 6:24pm On Apr 23, 2007
Who ever doubts this story has either never been in naija before or at least did not witness 1999 and 2003 elections. Thats practically what elections are all about in naija "the more thugs you have the more votes you have" This includes the opposition and is basically the reason for AC winning in Lagos, PPA in Abia, ANPP in their strongholds in Northern States and PDP everywhere else that they have a sitting Governor.

If Yar'adua sas any inherent sense of integrity, he would refuse to be sworn in based on the electoral rape we witnessed on Saturday.
I dont agree with you cos at this stage in our national life we should be more concerned about the output of our election than the process.
PoliticsRe: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by McKren(m): 2:56pm On Apr 23, 2007
The electoral process was in no way perfect, however if Nigeria's electoral process saw the emergence of those who represent everything that has made Nigeria the mess it is today then it is not worth having.

I have never been a great fan of Yaradua, but I do think he repersents the much needed generational shift. I welcome his emergence as president and hope he lives up to expectation of Nigerians.

Funny
Because nobody died or the building was not blown up that is why it is propaganda, Nigerians are so funny.
Have we not seen greater desperation in this country from the part of AC? Have we not seen people inform naija delta youths that FG is importing amunition to silence them so as to incite them against FG? did we not see the same people spearheading the boycott of last saturdays election when that failed the next day a lorry load of petrol tanker almost hit INEC office in the wee ours of the morning because supposedly the INEC materials that were to come in from South Africa will arrive there.
The same group of people are openly telling Nigerians that they tried to compel INEC to destroy the previous ballot papers they had for reasons best known to only them. And you think this is propagandahuhhuhhuh

Terrorism is no opposition, we know those in opposition in this country.

My brother stop trivialising the real issues, that people who dont want election to hold by all means because they think they cant win this election was trying to sabbotage the process should be the bone of contention not all that you going on about.
This is a terrorism and all those behind it should be ashamed of themselves.

PoliticsIbb A True General by McKren(op): 12:11pm On Apr 22, 2007
IBB, Abdulsalami Want Attack On INEC Office Probed
FROM: NKECHI ONYEDIIKA AND JIDE ORINTUNSIN, MINNA
Two former Heads of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar have condemned yesterday's attempt, by unknown persons, to burn down the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja

The two men, who spoke with journalists in Minna, immediately after casting their votes, warned that such an act would not be tolerated in the country and called for an immediate investigation into the matter to unravel those behind the act in order to bring them to book.

While Babangida described the incident as undemocratic and unNigerian, Abdulsalami declared that such act was never part of Nigeria's culture but a new dimension being employed by some individuals to bring the nation's democracy to mockery

"Politicians are bringing in another dimension into this country and I do hope this will be the first and last time this kind of thing would happen in this country," Abdulsalami said. "The perpetrators must be caught and dealt with."

He observed that the violence, which trailed the announcement of results of last Saturday's governorship election, is not peculiar to Nigeria.

Babangida however stated that the protest, which greeted the announcement of the result, was because Nigerian politicians had not learnt to accept defeat, just as he observed that winners have not also learnt to be magnanimous in victory.

On how he felt voting for another candidate, after nursing similar ambition, Babangida replied: " somebody has to be a President and we have to vote for somebody. It is the civic responsibility of all Nigerians to chose whoever they want as their leader".

When asked if he would try his chances again in the 2011 election, he answered, "I am already 66 and by next election, I will be 70, and you don't expect me to be running around with younger men at the age of 70."

Both leaders commended the large turn out of voters for the election, saying that it was an indication that democracy was taking root in the country.

The former first lady of the country, Justice Fati Abubakar said it does not matter who wins the election, as the Nigerian constitution does not discriminate against anybody.
I have been one of those who always criticized the man IBB, though I have always maintained that while I do agree that his regime had some very fine economic programmes but it lacked the genuine desire to implement them. For that reason I could not forgive him for knowing the right thing for this country and refusing to do them, I also thought him being President post May 29th 2007 was too huge a gamble for this nation to embark on.

However now that the electoral process have come and gone, I think the man deserves respect for accepting his faith and remaining loyal to National interest rather than his ambition.
PoliticsRe: Ken Nnamani Plots To Stall Transition, Says Govt by McKren(m): 9:52pm On Apr 21, 2007
I hope Nnamani does not dignify this allegation by reacting to it, Nweke is being foolish.
PoliticsRe: Is Senator Ken Nnamani Still In Pdp? by McKren(m): 9:01pm On Apr 21, 2007
Frank Nweke is just being foolish, I dont understand how he came up with his criticisms when even OBJ himself have already admited failure.

Someone should tell some of these Government spokespersons that sometimes it is more honourable to remain silent than to react.
Ken Nnamani is plotting ING yet the same Ken Nnamani frustrated the move by some senators to impeach OBJ and Atiku, not because he has any deals with the Presidency but because of national interest. So where is Nweke's allegation coming from?

Frank Nweke Jr. should be ashamed of himself.
PoliticsRe: Army Seize Trailer With Ballot Boxes In Kaduna(presidential election) by McKren(m): 4:45pm On Apr 20, 2007
Frankly no one knows the truth, we have seen all sorts of desperation in this country in the run up to this election. We have even seen people incite Naija delta youths against a Government they are part of. So you never can tell who is behind all these

It could be the PDP trying to rig, it could also be the opposition trying to blackmail the PDP. No one knows.
Some have told us today that they are only taking part in the election so that they are able to inititiate a legal proceeding against the election. They even pointed out that they hope that they are able to gather much facts and proofs of irregularities to back up their case.

So you never know, as much as it could be a PDP rigging it could as well be a blackmail.

But the truth of the matter is, Elite politicians as a whole (Ruling party and opposition inclusive) should be ashamed of themselves for their desperation. Not even Clinton will give Nigeria a free and fair election in this sort of atmosphere. People are just so ambitious and desperate, no single regard for the people's interest.
They should bury their heads in shame.

omon:
If 10 women got stripped to protest against PDP does not make PDP unpopular in a nation of 140M
That ascertion is so ridiculous, a responsible and civilized society should react even if one woman strips. The rape on democracy we are witnessing simply takes us no where no matter what party you support. Note other parties AC and ANPP are guilty of the same offence just that that of PDP is larger because they are more widely spread.

A Nigerian Student on BBC said "the more thugs you have the more votes you have" that statement is so true and need to change. Politicians must stop dehumanizing our youths who they are exploiting to pepertrate their clandestine motives.

PoliticsRe: My Proposal: Election (postponed); Buhari (president), Utomi (vp) by McKren(m): 2:05pm On Apr 19, 2007
Even if they like they should form alliance with all the parties in west africa, it will change nothing
They have no programmes, no one knows what they stand for, 1week to election they start forming alliance that is simply a sign of failure. If they connected with the Nigerian people all this while there will be no need for alliance. People will simply vote them.

When they fail now, they should learn the lessons. Start their campaign and give the people a reason to trust them even at the grass roots. Not after election everyone disperses only to reconvene 6months to election. When they fail to upset the ruling party which is naturally unrealistic they begin to call for election boycott or polls delay.

They should stop blaiming someone else for their failures, because they have simply not done enough.
PoliticsRe: Inec Chief: Pdp After My Life For Losing Abia State by McKren(m): 1:05pm On Apr 19, 2007
That sums up why it is so senseless to call for election delay or possible boycott.

The opposition are no better, AC won lagos cos they control lagos, PPA won abia cos they control the state, ANPP won Kano cos they are in control. It is not about the people's vote in Nigerian politics. The opposition are as good as PDP.

The opposition parties are not in opposition cos they think there are better ways to better the lives of Nigerians, they are just in opposition because the portforlios shared in PDP could not get to them so they hope they may be better placed in the scheme of things if their party gets to government somehow.

There is simply no one to trust, so dont know what the average Nigerian stands to benefit from postponing elections

PoliticsRe: Greedy Atiku. Why Can't He Step Down? by McKren(m): 11:04am On Apr 19, 2007
@ Dayokanu

JoshO has simply said most of what I would have said.
Atiku's popularity soared as a result of his illicit dealings between 1999 - 2003 when he was the de-facto President  of this country, most of those who support him are only fantasizing how they will enrich themselves in his Government if he becomes President. Yes he is popular but sometimes in life it is not how popular you were when in power that matters but how history will remember you.
IBB is a clear example of this, OBJ made his mistakes but trust me 20years from now history will remember him more kindly than Atiku.

I don't want to try to sell OBJ to anyone, in the first place their is no need for that because hate or love him he is going. But the worst mistake we will make in this country is to vote Atiku to spite OBJ.

PoliticsRe: My Proposal: Election (postponed); Buhari (president), Utomi (vp) by McKren(m): 12:02pm On Apr 18, 2007

PoliticsRe: Is Senator Ken Nnamani Still In Pdp? by McKren(m): 11:36am On Apr 18, 2007
Nothing will hapen to Nnamani, he has no question to answer and nobody will bully him with EFCC.

Loyalty to the Nation, its future and the destiny of our children should be more important than loyalty to PDP.
Nigeria will go no where in the face of deciet, you can not ask naija delta youths to lay down their arms in the face of deciet. People in Government need to be more sincere or at least pretend to be sincere in the interest of national security and sanctity of leadership.
