Most of these guys e.g Mode9 are no more relevant in the Nigerian rap music. The style of rap music that is in vogue in Nigeria today is the new Ghana Azonto-rap style which is fast, danceable and good for parties and club houses e.g Olamide, May D etc. People want to dance, no matter the kind of song u sing.....and the Ghanaian Hiplife/Azonto rap style with the electrifying fast beats is what Nigerian musicians are now playing

Foolish talk.
So you are happy and proud that Nigerians now travel to access good university education in Ghana? Your thinking is very distorted.
It is a foolish talk to use population to boast. What matters is what you are able to do and achieve with your population, no matter how big or small! That is why countries like Israel, Cuba, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland etc are respected globally even with populations below 10million.
Are you not ashamed that a nation of 150million does not have electricity and other basic things of life? We are becoming a global nuisance becaue of our shamelessness and reckless attitude.
Why do you want to repackage Azonto? Ghanaians do not need Nigeria's help/idea to repackage Azonto....they originated the dance style and they will repackage it whenever they fill like. Azonto had been reigning all over Europe and beyond before Nigerians reluctantly embraced it....go to youtube and check it out!
Go and repackage Galala, Etighi and Alanta etc and see how far you can go with them! Shamelessness

I have never heard of a country that deceives itself like Nigeria and Nigerians!

What did we do for South Africa that other countries did not do? Did we fight any war for them? Just blabbing for nothing.

The way we encourage SA during apartheid is the samw way some other countries encouraged us when we were still under colonial rule!

It is this arrogant and foolish talk of ''upon all what we did for SA'' that makes people from other countries to dislike us for our loud lousy disgusting tendencies. A lot of countries, still give Nigeria aid till date, but you dont hear them say ''upon all what we do for Nigeria''!

Many countries helped SA during their hard times....not only Nigeria. And a country like Ghana also helped Nigeria to get independence too.....Ghana became a base/venue for meetings of pro-independence movements in Africa, including Nigeria.

Quatermaine: Nkrumah had no source of inspiration.

Bigest Lie..

Every Great man, I repeat, Every Great man had his source of inspiratiön from some where.
You are quoting him out of context......What he said is that Nkrumah had no source of inspiration in the African context. Maybe from outside Africa, but definitely not within Africa.
Nkrumah became the person that other Africans looked up to and they drew a lot of motivation for the struggle from his achievements.
Nkrumah battled the colonial powers to a standstill. His speeches at international forums like UNO/Commonwealth were always the main points of discussion.....he virtually charted the course for the struggle of Africa's independence. No one else matches that feat in Africa!

Quatermaine: Thank You Sir.

You just told us indirectly that mandela is greater.
''He taught the world how to forgive''.. Thats enough to place Kwame below Mandela.. If Kwame had his way, he would have wanted africa to conquer the world which is not a good thing..
Nkrumah's struggle was inspiration to people like Mandela.
Nkrumah was virtually a lone-ranger in the battle. Mandela had many examples to look up to. Nkrumaah no example in Africa to look up to.
Mandela's meekness is unique. Nkrunah's courage, boldness and determination benefitted the whole Africa.....something that encouraged Mandela as well.
Any way, BBC organised a poll and they can tell you who the winner was.....that was more 30 years AFTER Nkrumah had died

Foreign Affairs › Re: Ghanaian - Nkrumah Is Greater Than Mandela by mikeapollo: 12:59pm On Dec 13, 2013
This debate was settled a few years back when BBC organised a poll to determine who was the greatest African leader, and the 2 leading contenders were Nkrumah and Mandela.

Votes came from all around Africa and beyond. At the end, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah emerged the ''Greatest African Leader''

This happened when Nkrumah had died over 30 years ago, and Mandela was still living. Again, the votes were not influenced by the population of their respective countries because Ghana is just 25million and South Africa about 40million, yet Nkrumah won.

People who were alive and knew what Nkrumah did to liberate Africa and the black world would tell you that he is unparallled because the struggle that he championed was niot just for Ghana, but to liberate the whole of Africa. What he did was virtually unthinkable. He virtually challenged the world order. He challenged the super powers of the world and his scuccess in Ghana became the springboard for other African countries to start believing in themselves.
At a time, he was more like the president for the whole of Africa because he set up a department in his govt that was to pursue the liberation of other African countries and he was inviting/recruiting a lot of Africans from other countries who were working in his govt in Accra and and still going back to their countries to support the struggle for their countries independence and to challenge the white colonial masters. He became the backbone of the struggle for independence in Africa
Today, Nkrumah statute stands tall in front of the AU building is Addisa Ababa.....a tribute to what he did for the emancipation of Africa.

Most of the comments in favour of Mandela at this time is because he has just died and sympathy/encomiums would naturally pour towards him. Although I acknowledge that he paid a GREAT price for the freedom of S/A!

Mandela was very very great. He thought the world how to forgive....that is something special about him. He spent 27 painful years in prison, but we should also remember that many other people DIED in the struggle.

Both are very great, and the comparison is not necessary.....but going by the impact of what they did......Nkrumah almost single-handedly defied the super powers at a time when it was a suicide mission to do so and also motivated and even sponsored other Africans that never knew or believed that they could be independent to start their struggle.....and Mandela thought us all how to forgive and live in peace with one another!
Wow, u are a perfect example of one who has no inkling about his history. Try and read more and ask questions. Alaafin is a descendant of Oranmiyan. Oranmiyan was the ruler of Ife then, but he left to settle a matter in Ibini(now Benin) and instead of returning to Ife, he created a new settlement which he named Oyo under directives of the gods. Before he left Ife, a regent was elected. This regent is the ancestor of Ooni of Ife. Oranyan didn't av a son in Ife so the kingship was retained by the Ooni and his descendants. But the seat of government was later moved to Oyo from Ife by Sango, Oranmiyan's second son. Bro please read more about this to confirm.
If Alaafin of Oyo is a descendant of Oranmiyan, then answer this: where was Alaafin's progenitor(Oranmiyan) buried?
Do you forget your roots just because you are doing well in a new place? PATHETIC! Can Alaafin show you the grave/tomb of Oranmiyan today?
If not, why? And why why?
Oranmiyan's staff was his symbol of authority/power. Where does the staff stand today? Can you find that staff in Oyo? Absolutely NO! The staff is standing in Ife till today. What does that tell you again?
It shows that Oranmiyan and the people around him in Oyo(chiefs etc) regarded, ranked and respected Ife to be higher than Oyo in hierachy in the scheme of things and in considering where Oranmiyan should be buried. And it was right.

Go and ask the kings (7 kids of Okanbi who became the forebearers of Yoruba Kingdom).e.g Ijesha, Ila, Egba, Apomu, Ijebu, Ekiti etc and listen to what they would tell you. Only an Alaafin would deceive himself that Oyo is equal to Ooni in Yoruba ancestry........No other king would talk that rubbish!

If you do not know, one of the reasons why Alaafin of Oya(Lamidi) is promoting all these lies is because his father was dethroned by Awolowo and the Awolowo family was very close to the Ooni of Ife......all this is part of his plans to strike back.
During his lifetime, the late Asipa of Oyo (Chief Amuda Olorunkosebi) made it clear that Ife/the Ooni is higher than Oyo/Alaafin in Yoruba ancestry

It is only in your imagination that Oyo would be superior to Ife. I am not from Ife!
All the recognition given to Oyo came from their military prowess. Military prowess leads to political relevance. That is all Oyo had. But Yoruba histotry is deeper than that.
If the Oyo kingdom/people trace their roots to Ife(Oranmiyan's home), then how can the Alaafin of Oyo(a decendant) be greater than ruler of The Source?
Why was Oranmiyan's body buried in Ife? What does that tell you? If Alaafin of Oyo cannot show you the grave/tomb of Oranmyan in Oyo, then what does that tell you? Oranamiyan'd grave is in Ife, his home!
Oranmiyan had a mystical staff(rod) called Opa Oranmiyan(Oranmiyan's Staff, which was more like his guide/power, just like Moses had. Where is the staff standing today? It is in Ife, not Oyo! What does that tell you?
Oranmiyan left Ife to Bini, before he lleft to establish Oyo. How does Oyo become superior to Kingdoms that had existed long before it?

It beats my imagination how people could allow petty politics to cloud their sense of judgement.

Even first generation Yoruba kingdoms like Ijesha, Ila, Egba, Ijebu, Ekiti etc all trace their roots to Ife. So how could Oyo be superior to Ife? How many Yoruba first genertaion Yoruba kingdoms originated from Oyo?.

Oyo might have expanded in territorial land mass because of military conquest. Wherever you conquer in war becomes part of your territory and you can start collecting taxes, royalities (Isakole) from the people......not because they had any historical, cultural, ancestral, or spirirtual superiority over Ife. IMPOSSIBLE

Go and cleanse yourself of bias and you would appreciate/understand your history better!

Even Yoruba in diaspora eg Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela etc know that Ife is their ancestral home. The Ga people in Ghana also have a part of theirt histroy that traces their roots to Ife......but here we are.....Nigerians who are too biased to say the truth!

macof: Do u realize that Ife was once a colony of Oyo?
And the Ooni must have payed homage to Alaafin as his head

Back to Oranmiyan, he is was c
Heir to Ile-Ife and most honored in Ile-Oodua after Oduduwa's death.

He personally established Oyo to be superior to Ife, and all taxes collected from his siblings were put into Oyo's development.

I think Alaafin is superior in matters outside spirituality and traditions
Who made Ife a colony of Oyo? Where did you get your history? Ooni of Ife had never paid homage to any king in Yorubaland. IMPOSSIBLE!
How can Oranmiyan, the youngest of Odudduwa's children establish Oyo to be superior to Ife. Does that make sense to you?
Before Oyo was established, there had been other Yoruba kings and kindoms. It is not as if Oyo came immediately after Ife. Oyo was established much much later.
And if Oranmiyan's body was buried at Ife when he died.....what does that tell you?
Ooni of Ife is the undisputed numero-uno, the historical, spiritual and cultural head of the Yoruba....Alaafin became recognised by the British because of the military strenght of Oyo.At a time in ancient histroy, a new Alaafin was crowned by the Ooni.

If every kingdom in Yorubaland traces their roots to Ife, then only a drunk person would say the Alaafin is superior to the Ooni!

twosquare: Either Ooni or Alaafin of Oyo...None is superior to the other and we all must understand this....these kings needs to put sentiments aside and do away with their differences
Please, keep quiet if you dont lnow Yoruba history.. The Ooni is far far ahead of Alaafin. Hostorically and culturally, several Yoruba tradtional rulers were originally far senior and ahead of Alaafin.

Alaafin was only given more prominence and relevance by the British colonial masters because Oyo had the strongest military might among the Yoruba at the tme coupled with well organised administration....

Oyo Kingdom was established by Oranmiyan, who left Ife to Benin, and later to Oyo. Even after he died....Oranmiyan's corpse was returned to Ife for burial and his mystical staff(Opa Oranmiyan) still stands in Ife till date.

Alaafin's re;evance is a creation of politics....Ooni is the spiritual leader and numero-uno among the Yoruba Obas.

Mr Knowitall: I want to relocate back to Nigeria from the United States and I just have some questions.

1) is this advisable to move from the U.S back to Nigeria?

2) are there any job opportunities available that one can make a comfortable living from?

3)what are the road and traffic conditions in Nigeria now days?

4) and has police harassment and political corruptions reduced? thanks.
What do you plan to do in Nigeria? Do you have a comfortable home/house to stay in? A good job or skill or experience to sustain you?
Have you thought of what you can do in the US to improve your prospects, both in the US and Nigeria or elsewhere?

My brother, dont let me deceive you.....except you are already well made(financially) or your family is buoyant enough to support you, better stay where you are! If you dont have a specialised skill that would enable get or create jobs in Nigeria, please dont risk it.....better concentrate and work harder to improve and equip yourself with some specialised skill/training in fields or areas that are scarce or in high demand in the Nigerian market, then you can take the plunge. The you can do well in Nigeria after the initial hiccups......but to just relocate from US to Nigeria just like that and be lookinng for work to survice.....it is hell!

Your first frustration wil start from lack of basic electricity....so you must get a generator and buy fuel everyday. You must must be ready to have money for 2 year rent(you may get 1 year if lucky), spend an average of 3-4 hours in hold up(if living in Lagos), and be ready to bribe your way through virtually everything you do with the govt .e.g getting a licence etc

Of recent, Nigerian government have been having diplomatic row with countries like, South Africa, Ghana, United kingdom and now, India. Why these counties always like to create tension and later went ahead to apologize? Is it that they see Nigeria as a threat or what?

No doubt, some Nigerians are into various criminal acts same can also be said of other countries but why is it always a big issue when it concerns Nigeria? Even when a black man commits crime they will say is a Nigerian without verification.

So sad and very sorry picture!

But let us ask ourselves the bitter question: Why is virtually every country reacting this way to us? The answer is simple.....our attitude and behaviour.
We should know how to behave, especially in a foreign land. If we are disliked in West Africa, in Africa as a whole, in Europe, in US, in China and now in India, then there MUST be a problem with us.

But we Nigerians like to deceive ourselves......we are not facing the bitter truth that our ways and attitude have become a nuisance to many countries.

I was in Ghana Dec 2012 at a night club in La, near Accra. There were some Nigerian boys(Igbo) who were making trouble and disturbing guests at the club. One of them went to attack another man in the club. The bouncers at the club had to grab him, held his legs and hands and then flung him out of the club premises like a log of wood!

I told my colleague who was with me that it is this kind of irresponsible and disgusting attitude that make other people to develop some dislike and anger against us.

I hope this guy would receive adequate treatment and also get come compensation for the injuries and harm done to him.

But we Nigerian need to change our attitude and behaviour if we want other countries to treat us with better respect!

Who told that most Ghanaians wouldi faint if they were given JAMB/POST UME Exams?
Ghana is not like Nigeria. If they set standards, they make sure they try and achieve the standards set.
Ghana was operating the Higher School Certificate (HSC) programme for some years long after Nigeria had abandoned it. JAMB of the 1980s-early 90s was just like the HSC curriculum.
Yet the Ghanaians were never found wanting, Infact, most of their students passed through HSC before going to university.

Currentlt, at at WAEC/GCE O Level, Ghanaian students are the leading canidates, scoring and doing better than Nigerian students(this is official). So what makes you think they would faint because of JAMB?
JAMB/POST UME exams are now only being used to limit the potential number of candidates for admission due to the inadequate facilities at Nigerian universities
