On hearing from God, as a starting point, the the very first point I will put forward is what the scripture teaching.

Ps 119:130. The entrance of thy word is light and understanding to the simple.

Also in another place, the psalmist states.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path.


Obviously, these texts showed us a simple way we are led by God. It's states that it's by his word. That means primarily no child of God lacks God's leading or hearing from him. It's a matter of the person"s choice.


Hence the very first way God speaks to us is via his Word. It's the first, and the primary and the most reliable way.

Until we see God's word as God's communication to us, we won't appreciate how much he says to us via the written word whenever we look at the word.


The written word are God's counsel, thoughts and instructions for our daily living.
If that's the primary way he leads us, then that's the primary way he wants us to hear from him


What this means is that, when I read the scriptures it must be seen as me talking to God and God talking to me. I must see it as if, if God is physically here with me, this that I am reading is the same he will communicate to me now. It must be that real to me.


Hence, we must first hear from his written word before, we can start speaking about audible or perception from our spirit because those are very subjective and must be tested by the written word.


So, how do I know I hear from God.
Whenever I read his word, that is him talking to me via the inspired writings. He is unveiling his thoughts to my thoughts in a written form.
His instructions in those writings are what he wants me to carry our and prosper in them.


It's also from this I will learn other options of hearing from him and how to judge those options so as not to be led astray.

So the primary way is the written word. A man who cannot study and see God and his plan for him from the written word cannot be trusted as hearing the spirit or voices or perceive God.

Well said. I agree God speaks to us through His Word and adequate study is very important.

But you know the word cannot always guide your decisions especially when it comes to significant life choices viz which business to commit to, what business you should invest in, which wife to marry, whether to go into ministry or further your education or get a job, etc.

Also to hear God concerning spiritual entities planted within your family or work environment in order to be well prepared to counter their devises or cast out these demons as Jesus did, as Paul did, etc.

Likewise when you're being misled by false teachers and prophets, you should be able to hear God to discern them. Cos one thing Christianity seems to be awash of is false teachers and prophets.

In this instances, would you say it is important to truly have audible hearing from God?

All the days of the week for example were named after some form of god.
The months of the year likewise. And many more.

The line you're towing is like a rabbit hole. If you're questioning words with pagan origins You might also want to change the name of Sunday to Jesus day since Sunday was named after the worship of the Sun god.

Speaking of Jesus, you might also end up realising his original Hebrew name is Yeshua and you've been praying in a different name.

You might end up abandoning the KJV and other bible versions for reasons of translational errors. You may need to start learning Hebrew and Greek to understand the original bible.

When I read this thread stating that It's So Hard Practising Envagelism As A Single Female, I have the opinion that the thread OP might be a Starter or Just developing commitment towards evangelism. But on the brighter side I see evangelism more easy for female that male because people tends to give better audience to them than their male counterpart. The Samaritan Woman by Well is not an evangelist yet but she was able to pull stunt that attracted the city to Jesus. It is natural for women to attract attention anyway.

Witnessing to a guy, I have no problem; but to female most of them if alone at that spot or walking, will fell like I came for wooing.

Although, I can confess that sometimes I don't have my Bible with me and the reason being that it just another random day not planned for evangelism and I felt led and I go.

Unlike the other thread that the OP sited case of lewd attitude of the male, which cannot be exhibited in a public places, the counterpart might have problem getting the right attention, It is only when you have the attention you will be able to witness.

However, in both case nothing should stop you from Evangelism, if you have that guy or lady you felt it won't be a good idea to meet the person your self on your own, invite another person of same gender of your target, so that both of your could witness together. Don't try to form Batman or Wonder-woman, Stay away from any Appearances of evil, so your good will not be spoken of as evil.

Any Evangelism, Witness or Follow-up that involve opposite gender should be done in an open place where people will see you, it has never a shameful act to preach in public anyway. At her 44yrs, My Mum once preach to a Muslim man in Ilorin who follow her to church, that same day men where assign to follow him up.

Evangelism is not easy but also it's not difficult if you follow the principle.

For a lady it's advisable not to go alone but with a guy or an elderly married woman.
Cos we know some guys see an opportunity to toast the babe and it might lead to sex. Some girls can be that susceptible.

For a guy, know that not everyone will give you audience. Just know how to pass your message and move on to the next one.
Evangelism is core to Christianity cos it's the last commission of Jesus christ.

On this note I find it imperative to advise potential evangelists to always pray for divine guidance and pray for God to go before them. Cos by flesh a lot can easily go wrong. But if God has been involved, even the most difficult person can give you audience.

At the end of the day, what's most important is having the right mindset about Evangelism.
It is not about you or your church but about God, Jesus Christ crucified and the souls.
Try as much to know that not everyone will be ready for you. But your part might simply be to plant the seed. Someone else would water for God to give the increase.

Meaning those that respond positively had been rude to the first person to preach to them.
While some will be rude to you for someone else to finally build on.

For no reason should you resort to insults or fight. Cos trust me some evangelism results in fight.
We all heard of a Redeemed evangelist who got killed while preaching in front of a mosque. Please apply wisdom.

More importantly, if you have spiritual leading, pray for direction. There are so many people dealing with issues beyond them. And I believe God's word can help them get through it.

Moral of the story, stop looking at the difficulty of evangelism but the impact the gospel has made on you or someone you have seen it affect positively.

Also one part most evangelist miss is praying for miracles. This is how the early disciples easily have converts. Ask for divine backing as you launch out on your evangelism. Mark 16:17

Ok, I currently work with an FMCG Coy in Ibadan as an inventory officer where I earn N175k net on a monthly basis. It’s important to state here that I was living in Lagos prior to my getting this FMCG job.

Hearing From God is a benefit of being in a relationship with God and as you correctly pointed out should be a gift to all Christians.

It actually is and like I pointed out in my comment 1 step above, the reason many Christians fall short of it is not developing that side of themselves through study of the Word and prayer.

I know literal hundreds of Christians who hear from God regarding their personal issues and I can give numerous personal example but this is not a competition but a matter of faith.
You either accept this based on faith in what God has said in His Word or reject it based on rational but limited human thinking.
Either way, you will get what you accept and believe in.
