CultureRe: Pidgin: The Language Where Question & Answer Are The Same by Nightshift(m):
It's almost as if Chief Zebrudaya and Mr. Clarus Mgbeojikwe (The Masquerade) invented Pigeon-English. One can also add Countryman Bouma Erekosima(RiP) of Radio Rivers 2 FM Stereo Port -Harcourt. Those men could turn that language to your salad-dressing....
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 11:12pm On Dec 22, 2012
afam4eva: The expansion of Enugu couldn't be as a result of population because Enugu's population is kinda static and not growing in astronomical proportions like other cities despite having better infrastructure than some other cities. The city as it is a civil service state and not commercial or industrial. That's why we need to expand the city having commerce and industry in mind. But in doing this, we should not destroy the idiosyncrasies of the current city.
Trans-Ekulu is growing fast almost like Lekki area in Lagos. Ndigbo from other states are moving to Enugu at the speed of light, so to speak.

Agbani is almost becoming like Nsukka; with a private university at Akpugo, a new road linking Emene/Nike with Akpugo will open a new corridor that can rival 9th mile. Akpugo people are very industrious, they can compete with Nnewi if their domain is opened with new roads. Alo Aluminium is already showing Akpugo money muscle at Emene with his multi-billion Naira aluminium coils factory.

With the sitting of UNTH permanent site at Ozalla/Ituku, the federal govt.has already piloted Enugu expansion Southwards. Though the potential for industrial hub still remain Northwards. Can Awkunanaw clans lay low like their Ogui- Nike brethren as Enugu expands into their domain ?
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 10:30pm On Dec 22, 2012
ezeagu: Instead of expanding, Enugu should work with what it's got first. There are cities all over the world that are unable to expand due to being on islands that have much better infrastructure than Enugu.
Enugu is expanding due to population pressure. Those Islands may not have that kind of pressure like Enugu. Spanish Island of Palma de Mallorca is an example.

As my folks drive on the smooth roads of New Heaven, GRA, Uwani, Achara Layout, Independence Layout, Ogui, Maryland, Real Estate etc. Shop in peace at Roban, Shoprite, Ogbete, Keyetta etc; the struggle for the present Enugu started far back in 1979- seven years after the Nigerian- Biafran civil war. The late Chief C.C. Onoh led the struggle....

Should Coal City expand North(9th mile/Udi), East(Emene/Trans Ekulu), or South(Greater Nkanu- Amechi Akwananaw/Ozalla-Ituku) areas? My personal analysis coming soon. Watch out.... Who can analyse Enugu now and the future better than Nightshift? I convinced Chino24(Nwa Aguata) to see the light, argued with Nwa Umuoji-Idemmili(Aroli Odenigbo) over the symbol of Enugu in Ndigbo mind-set. Nightshift will break it down soon....

Firma Bilfinger Berger AG, is the most powerful foreign company in Nigeria. Mr. Koch (Chairman) knows that nobody will tolerate this kind of embezzlement of public funds anywhere in Germany. Not even in Hessen where the company's chairman was a former state governor.

afam4eva: I'm really happy that they did not go the way of Calabar, PH, Lagos and Abuja carnivals that have imported costumes and content. This is a celebration of Igbo culture and i hope other states can take a cue. Enough of importing the Caribbean festivals to Nigeria.
Enugu people will not allow carnival import; the state is a leader in masquerading in Igboland. Okanga Akpugo and Nike can produce colourful masquerades(Omebe) that can fill a stadium. In 1985 then military governor Emeka Omeruo, inaugurated the biggest carnival in Igboland( Mmanwu festival) at Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu. All the big groups and masquerades were there including Perikomo and his famous Arondizuogu dance group.

spyder880: Pammy dey, roasted yam, abacha etc. Its a cultural carnival so NB cannot afford to overlook the traditional styles of the people.
Great, if we hold on to our eating culture. Enugu folks know how to enjoy rich food. I really enjoyed last year's carnival organized by our tradition-loving governor Chime. There was a weeklong procession of masquerades on major streets in the City. The peak of it was the night masquerade( mmanwu abani) at Okpara Square. It made me miss the Easter carnival at Obiagu in the 80s. Famous groups like Black Children of Amagunze, Ogene Camp, Ugo Mba City group, The indomitable Umuabi Udi , Ogbangbada Obe, Ugomma Amuri and the dreaded Inyiya Agbaoku from Umuatugboma. Mmanwu Enugu ebuka!!

Ray Power FM, premier? Perhaps as a private station. The first FM radio station in Nigeria is Radio Rivers 2 FM Stereo Port- Harcourt. It was built by Gov. Melford Okilo and started transmission in 1981. 99.128Mhz was the best radio station i ever listened to in Nigeria. My 99cent...

pak: Are you that young ?
Of all the defenders mentioned above, only Eguavon was at the USA '94 world cup and how much did that cost us ?

one, he made a reckless challenge that mistakenly fetched an innocent Sunday Oliseh, a yellow card argentina.

two, and the most bitter, He just couldn't resist the wrestlemania urge in extra time against Italy so much so He pulled down an italian attacker in the box, the rest is history, Baggio scored the penalty and Nigeria was out of the mundial.

Please get your facts right
I still stand by my original pick - Shofoluwe, Omokaro, Chukwu, Keshi and Okalla. The other duo you mentioned were well known for their hard tackle during their days at New Nigeria Bank FC. Austin (whom you castigate) played well for Nigeria. If he was bad, i don't think he would have made it far. Moreover, a successful defence must be hard on attackers somewhat. As i have written, Italians combine their ruggedness in defence with tactical brilliance. Are you refuting that as well? Germans are also another example... Was it not Finidi who naively gave Italians the winning penalty in '94? He tackled an Italian from behind in the 18 yard box.
SportsRe: Is This The Best Green/Super Eagles Team Ever? by Nightshift(m): 3:21pm On Dec 13, 2012
pak: Bright Omokaro, Ademola Adeshina, Sunday Eboigbe (and even Augustine Eguavon) were 'agberos', old school defenders. Butchers masqueraded as footballers.

Yisa Shofoluwe came about 20 years before his time. he was at that time consistently blamed for his laissez faire attitude as a defender, when in actual fact he was a modern wing back who played before the game evolved.

Wouldn't have been out of place in today's champion's league
Those defenders you call "Agberos" were Eagles best in Nigeria's best world cup outing. Such are the kind of defenders who have made Italian defence the most dreaded, and the one everyone tries to emulate. Those '94 Eagles defence were well organized and tactical.

PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 6:06pm On Dec 03, 2012
Prior to 1991 in old Anambra state, Enugu people were controlling the politics of the old state. That was why Mr. Roy Umenyi and Mr.Austine Ezenwa were deputies to Jim and Onoh respectively. Wawa people had more local government areas and the control of the state house of assembly. Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Enemchukwu, the then speaker of the house, said that they (the ijekebee) then decided to fight to get their own present Anambra. He is still alive to tell the truth. The only person that tried to shake up the status-quo was then Col. Akonobi, a military governor from Nneni Njikoka, who was later removed due to petitions against him by Enugu people especially Chief C.C. Onoh. This is another historical perspective...
