PoliticsRe: Africa's Richest Woman - Nigerian Folorunsho Alakija by Nightshift(m): 5:53pm On Nov 27, 2012
Wearing Mrs Alakija's Supreme Stitches design amongst Nigerian elites in those days, was like wearing an Armani or Canali suits and matching it with a pair of Mauri shoes. Those were the sharpest Milan collections to put on for a Lagos party night.
PoliticsRe: Africa's Richest Woman - Nigerian Folorunsho Alakija by Nightshift(m): 5:40pm On Nov 27, 2012
Between mid 80s and early 90s Mrs Alakija was very popular among Lagos yuppies. She was then heading 'Supreme Stitches', known for designing flashy wears for Nigerian elites like Miriam Babangida, Shina Peters and the Abiolas. In 1990 or 1991 she won the Nigerian Designer Award. I liked her first name but i never pronounced it correctly like the Yorubas. I think she used her connections to Babangidas to get into oil business. Congratulations, designer!!
Car TalkRe: Mercedes Imagines The SUV Of 2025 by Nightshift(m): 3:38pm On Nov 22, 2012
Mercedes Benz designers and engineers haven't been smiling proudly in Unterturkeim since BMW cut MB's market share by over 30%(SUV segment) with its more stylish and sporty X series. Now, MB is trying to catch up by applying an unconventional "Schwäbische offensive". Let's see if that will push up its falling stocks at the Frankfurt Börse.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 4:03pm On Nov 21, 2012
@Spyda880, you've spoken well! The politically wise ones will appreciate your advice. Those who never new when the journey started are the ones spitting fire and brimstone. Haters can also create their imaginary "East".
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 1:43pm On Nov 21, 2012
NRI PRIEST: Haha....Ijele ko Ijele ni! I dont think you know the mysterious meaning of an Ijele which was invented by the ancient Omanbala through "akwunechenyi" ! Ana azo nwata ndu osi na onwu kia nma!

PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m):
What Berlin and Paris are to Germans and the French, so is Enugu to Ndigbo. Nobody in this age can change such a historical narrative. Also, more importantly, it will continue to be a powerhouse where political chess is played. Enugu shall continue to host conferences that impact and shapes the future of Ndigbo. She is an old lady with magnificent hilltops, always smiling with open arms welcoming its children from near and beyond. Enugu bu nnukwu ijele ndigbo; Enugu akwulugo!!
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m):
May i take this opportunity to beg you fighting school kids to take it easy? Enugu is bigger than any of you. Enugu is a symbol for freedom, be it in a colonial, Biafran or Wawa context. Enjoy the thread or let the sleeping dog lie. No town or city in Igboland can evoke great emotions like Enugu. It's a city that define Igbo identity; whether one is an Aro, Ngwa, Owerri, Onitsha, Ijekebe, Wawa, or Mbaise Igbo, your Igbo identity is somehow tied to Enugu. Ije awele....
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Orders rehabilitation Of Roads Nationwide Before Christmas by Nightshift(m): 11:41pm On Oct 31, 2012
The biggest threat to Nigeria's democracy is that we always allow our politicians get away with lies. The day we start holding them responsible for lying to Nigerians, our country will change for better.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Orders rehabilitation Of Roads Nationwide Before Christmas by Nightshift(m): 8:29pm On Oct 31, 2012
7weeks to do what Nigeria has failed to do in decades? Even aliens from Jupiter will not believe Mr. president!!
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Name Godswill Orubebe As New Power Minister by Nightshift(m): 3:44pm On Oct 31, 2012
Has Mr. Orube transferred Niger Delta region to Dubai as the former commission's chairman? Siemens boss in Nigeria was quoted by a German newspaper saying that the company feared that someone with less or no knowledge of the sector might be appointed to replace the former able and had working minister(Nnaji), due to political reasons. Seems like the president has proved the German right.
PoliticsRe: PHCN : The Darkness Is Slowly Creeping Back by Nightshift(m): 3:31pm On Oct 31, 2012
Perhaps PHCN power plants and sub-stations have been invaded by pythons again. It was a reason given by old NEPA for cutting some parts of the country off the power grid in early 90s. As we all know, bad habits seldom die....
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Accused Of Annexing Rivers Oil Wells To Bayelsa by Nightshift(m): 1:38pm On Oct 31, 2012

PoliticsRe: Hurricane Sandy: Will Nigeria Learn From The Emergency Response Plan Of USA? by Nightshift(m): 4:29pm On Oct 30, 2012
In Nigeria, the government is only answerable to the 1%, while the American is responsible to the 100%. Unless perhaps Mr Romney is elected, he doesn't care about the 47% of US citizens.
PoliticsRe: PHCN Finally Privatised, NCP Announces Results Of Bids by Nightshift(m): 4:12pm On Oct 30, 2012
Most or some of the companies that won the bids are really novices in electricity industry, but were apparently successful due to political connections. When the chips are down, those companies will be bought at higher prices by the experienced companies in the field e.g. General Electric, Siemens, Geometric and some Chinese Cos, or their affiliates. My problem with some of the winners is that Nigeria's billions are being laundered as clean investment capital especially by the former military rulers behind those firms. Our laws should not be allowed to be trampled upon at every turn by rogues! It could also take 5 to 10 years before any tangible changes are felt by the nation's industries, in terms of steady and stable electricity supply from public power lines.
EntertainmentRe: Adewale Ayuba Denies Being Beaten-up By Mobile Policemen by Nightshift(m): 2:34pm On Oct 30, 2012
Personally, i will trust Mr. Bubble to tell the truth than all those other 'sources'. Ayuba seems to be a humble guy. I've always liked his music, especially his first album that got him the best Nigerian Music Award in 1991. He got Lagos bubbling all night long with his Bonsue Fuji music. That great album was produced by Laolu Akins. It was popular like Shina Peters 'Ace' album a year before.
HealthRe: Why Do Mosquito Bite Some And Leave Others? by Nightshift(m): 2:16pm On Oct 30, 2012
Certainly, the 25 billion+ mosquitoes in Lagos aren't choosy, they bite people without discrimination. Even in busses and taxis, the story is same. Word....
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Aba Roads: I Weep For My State by Nightshift(m): 8:32pm On Oct 28, 2012
By a long shot Lagos is still the filthiest City in the world. And one can't forget its 25 billion+ mosquitoes. Lagos is certainly followed by Ibadan.
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Aba Roads: I Weep For My State by Nightshift(m): 6:35pm On Oct 28, 2012
Those aren't roads but craters. I weep for great Enyimba City of the 80s. I wonder what has become of the then clean and wide Aba-Owerri Rd, Asa Rd, the then smooth Okigwe Rd, Eziukwu Rd, Hospital Rd, Milverton Avenue, Jubilee Rd, Azikiwe Rd, Ikot Ekpene Rd and those fashionable streets at GRA by Okigwe Rd and around Eziama High Sch./ Enitona Hotel?
Christianity EtcRe: Gospel Singer Patty Obasi Dies Of Kidney Failure by Nightshift(m): 11:50am On Oct 28, 2012
Patty Obasi's songs were often requested for on Sunday mornings during the famous pan-Igbo programme 'Ozi Ekene' with Linda Menakaya on Radio Nigeria Enugu. He prepared the path Okwey(ihe emebiwo),Obi Igwe and Chika Okpara later followed. May Patty's soul rest in peace!
CelebritiesRe: Pictures and Video From Flavour's Night Club Launch In Enugu by Nightshift(m): 2:51pm On Oct 27, 2012
Any possibility of getting fresh palm-wine served at the club's bar? Ebami Eda's portrait on the wall looks good. Hopefully, a homage is paid to Osili(Osadebe)as well....
FashionRe: Woman Wearing Helmet On Her "Gele" Headtie by Nightshift(m): 8:18pm On Oct 17, 2012
Not really abnormal in a country where some bikers use calabash as helmets. Nigeria and safety standards are millions of miles apart.
CelebritiesRe: Happy 52nd Birthday To Mr. IBU by Nightshift(m): 8:08pm On Oct 17, 2012

PoliticsRe: Nnaji's Power Plant Opens For Business by Nightshift(m): 6:51pm On Oct 16, 2012
Geometric with its €250 million grant from the EU, have genuinely demonstrated a passion to deliver uninterrupted electricity to Enyimba City and its environs. Ironically, the same company was recently disqualified from bidding for Afam power plant, because it lacks the "technical expertise" needed.
PoliticsRe: Enugu May Lose Power Ministry by Nightshift(m): 6:27pm On Oct 16, 2012
Well, Coal City state must be proud that one if its gems has been able to show Nigeria where the lights are. The state's worthy son drew a map for Nigeria's future electricity hope. Nevertheless, they are certainly dozens of competent and serious professionals in the state who could follow the former power minister's footstep. My take on this issue is that someone like Nnaji, who isn't a PDP member would be a better option.
PoliticsRe: Big Fear In Enugu Over Governor Chime’s Health by Nightshift(m):
Hopefully the good guy will back on his feet soon. The good people of Coal City state will pray for him. I'm sure if he isn't in Enugu, he sure is missing palm-wine. Chime is a fine guy!
PoliticsRe: Presidency To Spend N654.02m On Generators by Nightshift(m): 12:35pm On Oct 14, 2012
Immediately Prof Nnaji who has shown that things could be turned around for good in PHCN resigned, i lost hope in the present administration's ability to deliver better electricity to Nigerians.

Is Psquare also coming to 'Oktoberfest' in Munich? Or do they want to send Perikomo and his Arondizuogu Dance Group to represent them? Call me when they arrive....
PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy To Go Next Year- Sanusi by Nightshift(m): 1:39pm On Oct 12, 2012
A combination of fuel subsidy removal and a looming food shortages in 2013 are recipes for a death sentence to an already short-changed Nigeria's poor. Is that the only killing pill the government know?
