afam4eva: I'll like to see Barth Nnaji become a governor in Enugu state. We've been blessed with good governors in Enugu but i'll want a governor that will take a different approach in solving some of our problems.Isn't Prof Bartholomew Nnaji a registered member of ANPP? I don't think he belongs to the ruling vultures party . He wouldn't like to go near them, especially if the party's executive had a hand in his resignation . Winning Enugu governorship election without being from the present ruling party will be very very difficult . Nnamani tried it but got his fingers burnt. |
In 1997 while interviewing Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon, Larry King said " Nigeria is a country of contradictions, - it has no democracy but is exporting one to Sierra Leon, it exports over 1.5 million barrels of crude oil daily but imports fuel. That's funny".... |
Well, personally Lagos is synonymous with mosquitoes . It's census in that filthy city will shock experts . Seems the state govt care less about it.... |
Mr Fashola should also put the perhaps over 25 billion mosquitoes in Lagos to jail by building underground sewage canals, closing the city's dirty gutters, cleaning dozens of ponds and open canals which the malaria-spreading fly use as breeding paradise . |
Good , but he must return all the public money he stole . Are the present Abuja boys learning anything from this man? One day they will account for all the iniquity they've committed against poor Africans . Time changes everything .... |
freecocoa: Na you pick the phone?Certainly not, I'm 6 flight hours away from Lagos . Just remembered that part of Lagos . Nairaland senior boys know what Ojuelegba/Ayinala street use to be until early 2000! Lots of funky Afrobeats and .... |
That must be in Lawanson area, or were you at Ayinala Street? Just asking .... |
Party of vultures feeding on Nigerians ! |
Isn't London the most expensive city to do shopping in Europe ? If not for language barrier , Milan or Paris would offer one better bargains than London . |
Fashola, what about Swahili? - a language spoken all over East Africa and which could be adopted as the language for a united Africa . |
And the Chinese will learn Yoruba .... Even Lagos mosquitoes are laughing ! |
Mr Tinubu is a notorious political operator who wants to be everywhere . That was why the goon Sani Abacha was after his arse ! |
Sanusi's goal is to turn Naira to Francophone Africa's CFA. But on the flip side, that will make it easy to move around with €500 bill changed to Naira without attracting undue attention . Well, let the prudent minds win.... |
That road leads to Nigeria's "Davos", a prime tourists destination . It looks more like a crater on the planet mars . Nigeria still have no standard for road construction . |
The problem with Nigerian cultures is that it makes us think that married couples must remain married for the rest of their lifes, even when its obvious that they are not really happy in their marriage . Your friend should go for marriage counselling perhaps first alone, and later with his wife if asked . But seriously , do we have marriage counsellors in Nigeria ? Young couples in Nigeria must also realize that divorce will be more of an option in our culture that hitherto was not used to such. Marriage is something that asks one often " let the real you please stand up?".... |
Why is the airline still running its advertisement on CNN ? I saw it yesterday on the network, though it seems the airline is bankrupt already . By 2020, Ethiopian Airline ( 100% govt owned) is projecting to increase its annual revenue to $20 billion ! When shall Nigeria be able to manage a company successfully ? |
As a history romantic, it excites me remembering those wonderful years in that beautiful tropical country . I thank God for giving me the opportunity of being born just after the Nigerian civil war. Growing up during the oil boom of late 70s, means my generation had it so good before Nigeria lost almost all its attractions . Buying fresh bread at the bakery for 10kobo, cooked stockfish = 50kobo, ice creams = 10kobo; generally all those kobo coins buy enough goodies all over Nigeria then. It was the years i would wake up in the morning enjoying the sound of Honda CD195 in my neighbourhood . Or jokingly trying a new dance step to Osadebe or Ghana highlife music . If it's possible to turn back time , i would go back to those years in Nigeria . What a time!! |
Evil is everywhere in Nigeria . We need to re-evaluate our values in Igboland. The old saying in Igboland (ezi afa ka ego), seems to have been forgotten by most Ndigbo. We need to show more love to our fellow Ndigbo. With all the Igbo-on- Igbo hates, i personally find it difficult to believe that we have something in common with the Jews. Ndigbo needs a new orientation in social values as well . |
Well, that will definitely not be a punishment to me. I love cooking , i even cook for my family when i have time. At worst there is a Chinese restaurant in my district . This is 21st century , don't allow your wife use kitchen power hold you to ransom.... |
Judging from Thisday's investigation ,it's apparent that nobody is presently forcing the horse to drink water like Nnaji was doing. Moreover , an established culture is difficult to do away with . PHCN culture since decades, has been to keep Nigerians in darkness . Western companies ( whose investments are needed) started developing cold feet about Nigeria government seriousness since Nnaji's departure . A tougher future lies ahead for the country's energy sector . |
Barth Nnaji is not a typical Nigerian politician. In the land of vultures , rotten meats are preferred ! |
In the land of vultures, rotten meats are preferred. Nigerians shall know the truth someday .. |
Abuja's major roads have no marked lanes . It makes speeding on the highways dangerous , especially in a country where many drivers are insane . |
Zeus I: OBJ is my political mentor and the greatest politician Africa has produced. He is of yoruba tribe, and i, of Igbo tribe, but i love him as i do my tribesmen. In fact i doubt he is truely a yoruba man, everything about him is totally different from yoruba attitude. So Mandela and Nkrumah are not Africans, if Obasanjo is your best politician on the continent ? |
Seems to be an indictment of the current president . Mr President , what is Nigeria's present debt status, and where did all those money Obasanjo left go? |
cdamsel: who is dis gay?u no c blood 2 suck?Ada, i am not your gay, and you aren't my lesbian either. This is a forum read by people from many countries . Wouldn't it be better if you write something everyone can understand ? Just an advice , but you can go on ranting stuffs you grew in. Are you in Okpoko? |
cdamsel: @ billant, osha traders dey go mkt on public hols na only xmas, new year & easter dey don't trade,I ll 4give u cos u no no dat 1.its sad, pple make their daily living 4m there, its unfair 2 close it down.peter obi who personally I hate,he has shamed d state,he only does investments dat oils he personal pocket.he is rich enough don't get y he won't do anytin 4 d state,4m enugu 2 osha u can't pass 10km of good road, shey na jona we go still call cos na fed road,*smh*.ok no town in anambra can boast of Good road,na d road way ngige do we still dey manage.d mu mu of a gov shd do & step down 4 ngige,he is d only gov dat made us proud over 10yrs of governace.don't get me worked up peter ObiIs this the new Onitsha English ? Disgusting, to say the least .... |
Gov. Obi is acting OMATA chairman is this issue . Previously , closing any market in Onitsha was a decision left to the traders' top executive . Are they loosing their control of Onitsha politics? OMATA and peoples club use to be the only government Onitsha traders knew and respected . Their powers could only be compared to the legendary guys in Palemo. |
Most of those traditional rulers aren't fluent in Igbo language . I suspect some will adopt " Engligbo" to avoid sanctions . Example : ihe anyi megaa here wü inweta peace n'ebe k'anyi.... |
Geo-political power game: Nnaji is a tested and experienced man in the industry , who is also interested in playing a role in the South eastern power companies . He knows that the only way the east will attract investments and industrialise is if there is a power company that is ready to give easterners a competitive global service. My fear is that with his exist , the fate of Ndigbo's industrial quest might depend on proxy companies with ethnic motives to frustrate , or sabotage the desire of easterners . If the Enugu power company bids are mishandled , or giving to incompetent company we must reject it. The power companies are likely to be a tool that could be used in Nigeria's dirty ethnic politics . On a global level , when Russia's Gazprom snizzes, Europeans catch cold. The present power privatization is the most fundamental reform in Nigerian history . It will definitely determine to a large extent , the future of the country . Forget NNPC, this is where the real power is. Well, for Nnaji, he has made history : under him Nigeria saw the light , but for how long will that light stay on? That is the trillion dollar question .... |
anitank: Go to Aso Rock, u'll see Mr. President there.Perhaps Aso Rock attack dogs will not allow me. Just lost a great bid for an NNPC job due to such people . So many weird people in Abuja . Too bad, it still pains me.... |
