No need to travel long distance to ATM and at the same time get charged for withdrawals when you can comfortably make your withdrawals at any POS next to you. Commercial banks are happy they loosing out on ATM withdrawal charges thus the gang up against POS agents.

Banks are more comfortable and make more money from POS than from ATM. The workload inside the bank and at the ATM is slashed by over 50% for the bank.

These banks have committees to encourage pos operators. They give them targets, then commission and awards. I know of this.

In fact, I think it’s the CBN that forces banks to maintain a certain number of ATM.

What the CBN is saying is that to be a pos operator, get a shop with a verified address so you and your customers will be well monitored.
