RoyalUc:I've read it. Thanks for sharing. |
RoyalUc:Thanks. I believe number 2 is where the work is. Can you shed more light? |
I had been feeling a spiritual dryness especially in my prayer life. Eventually I became vulnerable. I never knew I could find myself falling back to what I was saved from. Believers and especially ministers, how does one recover from backsliding? Please help. |
jiggaz:True. Eternal salvation is genuine when we bear the fruits (evidences). -John the Baptist calls it the fruits of repentance. Luke 3:8 -Jesus calls it Fruit of the Vine. John 15:1-2 -Paul calls it Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 |
unstoppable51:Believing Jesus Christ as the Son of God is the First Salvation- that is the Faith in Christ that saves us from from the First Death. The first death is a state of spiritual death for unbelievers and the carnally-minded. Where one is disconnected from a relationship with God. The Second Salvation is where our Faith in Christ overcomes the trials and tribulations of this world. 1 Peter 6-9 It ends in the salvation of our souls. The trial of our Faith helping us to bear the Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:21-22, 2 Peter 1:5-7 having overcome the power that compels us to do the works of flesh as listed in Revelations 21:8 and Galatians 5:19-21. That is how we are saved from the Second death. I pray that we continue to grow in Faith and that Jesus Christ meets us in Faith. Luke 18:8 Grace, Mercy and Love to us all. |
Klarge0137:Be careful with online opinions. Some are good, some are otherwise. Be sure it's not a jobless person giving you employment advice. |
Mcslize:Did you read the post at all? Op just stated that some relationships seem to end right after sex. There are different factors that can be responsible for this, no generic answer. |
SalamRushdie:He should start from Lagos, we don't even know if we have a governor yet. He just knows how to give quotable quotes. |
miqos02:Exactly. The title isn't necessary. Unless situation demands it. But Nigerians seem to feel less accomplished until they are recognised by titles. Pastor, Doctor, Engineer, Mrs, Barrister, Chief, Apostle, etc. To each his own i guess. |
user283:It's a tricky one to judge. I'm glad you're both believers, meaning you both would submit to the Word of God as I believe you intend to make Christ the Head of your home. That said, one of the major things Christ does in a believer is make him or her a giver. It doesn't even matter if you're engaged or not. The love of God expressed in giving His only begotten Son, breaks the hardness of a heart and makes us givers of our time, service, finances and even life. No one is perfect but stinginess is quite a big deal regardless of gender. The most important thing I believe ypu need to look out for is that she submits to God's Word. If she doesn't yield to the Word and Spirit of God, then there's an issue. But if she yields, then there's hope cos we are all growing. She'll get there. |
SpoiltVirgin:Glory. I believe with more good works as this, the church is being restored and the gospel becomes tangible. Jesus saves. |
I love this thread and some of the replies so far have been edifying. I believe the most important part of living the Holy Life is to detest Unholy life. Until one hates sin and worldliness, he cannot truly desire to leave it behind. (Matthew 16:24-26) One of the works of the Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. Meaning He helps us see the wrong in sin and the right in righteousness and to make better decisions/choices knowing Christ has already defeated the power causing us to sin and given us Power. In conclusion, our Journey of Faith starts from the Heart (Spirit), then we grow into manifesting it. One doesn't become holy by becoming holy overnight. Trust the process. There's a lot God reveals in the process. It is instructive to know that when the Israelites entered the Promised Land, God did not take away all their enemies in one spell, he left them to overcome them with time so that the land truly won't swallow them up. (Exodus 23:20-30) Just be sensitive to know what God is dealing with you per season and be growing in All Grace. I leave you with the words of Apostles Peter and Paul. 2 Peter 1:2-9 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Galatians 5:16-26 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Keep growing in all Grace and as the Holy Spirit gives you instructions, obey. Grace to us all as we continue to Grow in Christlikeness and Workmanship. |
Mynd44:There in lies my dissonance with religious Christians- the double standard. If this had been a Christian Conference being resisted, we would have called it Persecution. But now we are the ones doing the same to others. They should let the conference hold. Those who wish to study wizardry or even convert should have their freedom. No one is forced into God's Kingdom. After all, how else does the world know we serve a superior God if we fear witches are wizards? |
Are we still on this? |
electroTech:Explains our generation's low level of morals and high level of greed/covetousness. Thank God for always keeping his remnants. There's still hope for as many as seek the truth and not pastors that preach what we want to hear but what we need to hear. |
Almajiri1:When they get caught, they also face the law. Two wrongs don't make a right sir. Unfortunately we think it does. |
Esseite:Fighting for people is frustrating. Because the people are a big part of the problem. Rather live to declare God's glory and you will find comfort in His Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence. God's will is that his people are prosperous. Unfortunately we, his people want to drag along people that we love even though they are not God's people. Love is both the solution and also the problem. Which is why God says first of all, you have to Love him wholeheartedly and "hate" others if we are to follow him Luke 14:26 . Only then can we begin to love others. We cannot love God and people in the same measure. We have to love God first then He can teach us Love differently from how the world defines love. Then also teach us how to love others as much as we love ourselves. Hence the cardinal law- Love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. |
alBHAGDADI:This is a timely post. Thanks for sharing. I will like your insight on these verses, particularly the last verse. Galatians 5:16-22 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. |
GOFRONT:The problem is simple- the heart of man is evil. Only God can change that part. Charity as good as it is doesn't change a person but love does. Love and prayers. This isn't about religion. Religion often breeds hatred. There's a difference between being godly amd being religious. |
Happy birthday to her. It's not easy to control such wealth and still be down to earth. |
Being witnesses of Christ means telling our experience in Christ to others and people seeing our new life and glorifying God. |
Crofton:Truly the church abandoned the core of the gospel, Love, Discipleship and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. But God is restoring the church like never seen before. The Move of God is extraordinary in this season, even celebrities are being saved. Grace and Mercy, Peace and Joy to the world. |
Crofton:How so? Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. We need the Church. Spirituality outside the church may not produce love. |
sparko1:You're right. Unfortunately it isn't working for Nigeria. The whites who we are following didn't start of with democracy in their own country. USA for example established a working structure for Democracy to thrive. Democracy is one of the most sensitive form of government in the wrong hands. And our politicians presently are absolutely wrong hands. They've managed to create a constitution that insulates them from the law and also oppress the masses. But I believe, hope is being restored. |
Ilamina:In Nigeria, i believe Fela is one of the core influencers of this menace. However, people smoke weed for any or combination of these 3 reasons; -creativity -peer pressure -depression/frustration. The problem is, any thing can become an addiction. Weed is not an easy addiction to overcome. |
There are myriads of problems plaguing Nigeria, but Mediocrity has to top the list. We do not vote based on merit/competence but tribe/religion/party. The worst part is how we have been brainwashed to think this is nornal. |
No Tinubu on the list? You must be joking. |
badmrkt:Actually, with understanding you'll realise he spoke as an elder. That's called a disclaimer lol What did you expect him to say? Get thee behind me Satan? |
daddytime:She raised a rebellious child. She's simply reaping what she sowed. But I perceive God is working in him lately, I pray he changes his mind and grant her last wishes. |
OLAADEGBU:To answer this question, one must understand that God is Good and there's no Evil in Him. 1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Permit me to expound on this. When a criminal kills, it is evil. When an executioner kills the criminal, it is judgment. Meaning, not all Killing is evil. Often times when God judges who we consider good by human standard but God considers evil because he knows their heart, we often consider Him evil. Often times when God is working on us as well to help us correct our sinful nature, it often looks like evil. But we simply have to be sensitive to be able to distinguish if we are being chastised for correction or judged for committing evil. Habakkuk was able to see God's judgment befalling God's People. And that seemed evil in his eyes. But later from Chapter 2, God unveiled Him and he began to sing praises to God in Chapter 3. |
Shepherd00:You have spoken with deep insight and Wisdom. Thanks for sharing. I pray God delivers us all from Self, that we may Acknowledge Him in all our ways, not leaning on our own Understanding but on The Spirit and Word of God in Jesus name. Amen. |
