Good evening Nairalanders.
Last year, I created the above thread, how my younger brother set 70k on fire, some people did not believe me. But Thank God that 3 nairalanders saw the video evidence when they PM me and I hope they come across this thread so they could testify. I also want to thank everyone for the great and helpful advice.

Although, ever since then, he has been maintaining his lane, he barely talks to me, he greets my dad like he's being forced to greet. And am not happy with his lifestyle, he's my only brother and I need advice pls.

My brother is into yahoo yahoo, he comes home late at night (12 or 1am), sometimes he won't return home till the next day, he keeps wayward friends, he drinks alcohol, he smokes and do drugs {I haven't caught him red-handed smoking, but I'm not a child, his eyes are always red and dim}

My brother is a 2'1 graduate in Economics dept. From uniben. He's refused to get a job... Okay let assume there is no job in Nigeria, my dad's friend offered him a job in Lagos he refuse to go, learn a skill or trade he refused... Okay further your education {probably masters or professional courses} he refused.

We're neither rich nor poor, just an average family. My dad make sure we don't lack basic amenities. There is a roof over our head, he sent us to school, there's always food at home, he advice us despite he's not educated but as a traditional man he's full of wisdom.

Am concerned about my brother because of the high rate of ritual killings and yahoo plus whatever.... Am scared and worried, I don't want my brother to be involved in such crime.

Right now as am typing, my brother is not at home, I don't even know my brother's whereabouts. If one ask me where is your brother? I can't vague of his whereabouts but he returns home very late, sometimes till the next day.

Sometimes our parents are not to be blame for the evil and atrocities done by their children in our society, Honestly some children are from the pit of hell.

My dad has done his best but no changes, he has washed his hands away from his life but deep down I know he's not happy. Nairalanders please, how do I advice my brother.
Please take drastic actions before he uses your Dad or sister for rituals.

I'm sorry this is happening to you.

WillyWonda1:
https://www.nairaland.com/6983980/gave-boss-shocker-life

Sequel to my previous post about my boss and I.
It was a dramatic day for me yesterday. While everyone was enjoying Valentine's day celebration, I was summoned to a panel to explain my reasons for having to yell at my superior at work and not reporting to HR just like everyone has been suggesting on the comment section.
So I honoured the panel while a member of the board of directors was invited to hear from both parties.
My boss was emphasizing on the fact that I don't do the duties assigned to me, which is a BIG FAT LIE. Basically, he didn't have any cogent reason for his negative actions towards me. It was just pure hatred. I was then asked to talk, then I told the panel that since I was posted to his department, I've been getting negative vibes from him for no reason. I endured the whole hatred for 2 years and 3months under him without any retaliation.
Luckily, the MD had been briefed about the whole thing.
Now, i need you all to understand that I have a personal relationship with the MD.
So while the panel was ongoing, the MD called on zoom and interfered in the meeting. After hearing from both of us, he gladly ordered that my now EX BOSS be transferred to our portharcourt branch while someone else takes over with immediate effect.
Before I decided to yell at him, I had already made up my mind for whatever the outcome would be cos I had been pushed to the wall. Then the promotion even worsened the whole issue to the point that he couldn't hold the hatred other than to show it to me.
During pep talk this morning, y'all needed to see the look on his face. It was obvious he wanted me out, but to God be the glory, reverse is the case.

The MD later called me personally to admonish me about taking laws into my hands. I apologized and the whole thing ended.

I'm sorry for the long talk, but that's how it all played out.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. God bless us all.
You serve a living God.

And you're hardworking too, if not, you would have been fired.

Congratulations.

leksite120:
It's all about relationship and Ally. The world has changed from before, every country is now relevant because of their friendship with bigger nations.

It'll be rare for any war to take place now between just two countries, directly or indirectly, other nations would be involved.

So what does Ukraine has to offer? She's offering her proximity advantage of being beside Russia to Russia's enemy, US. That enough is even an importance to the West, cos US having a millitary base beside Russia is a very huge edge for them, whereas Russia doesn't even have anyone close to the US at all.
Thanks for responding.

Ukraine's proximity negotiations seems to be working well for it as Russian troops are moving out now that the US has raised alarm that Russia plans to strike today.

Raising that alarm would have given the US the justification to start preparing to deal with Russia but Russia has prevented that by pulling out.

Presently, the US is still the boss in this particular 'love' triangle.

Khaleepha5681:
Israel halted an attempt by the US to transfer several batteries of the Iron Dome defense system to Ukraine over worries it would damage its relations with Russia, the Ynet news site reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the defense system’s capabilities — especially during the 2021 Gaza war — piqued the interest of Ukrainian officials.

The country’s representatives began working vigorously in Washington last year to persuade US lawmakers to initiate a transfer of the rocket and mortar defense system to them.

The Ukrainian government officially asked the Biden administration to transfer Patriot and Iron Dome missiles to Ukraine last spring.

At the time, when then there were no worries of a possible Russian invasion, both Democratic and Republican lawmakers supported the transfer.

According to the report, Israeli officials made it clear to the US administration in informal talks that it wouldn’t agree to the transfer of Iron Dome batteries to Kyiv, fearing it would hurt its relations with Russia, especially in light of Moscow’s influence over Syria.

The Ukrainians, in turn, have in recent months made direct requests to the Israeli government and asked for officials to approve the sale.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said last Wednesday that his country was seeking greater cooperation with Israel on air defense technology amid fears of a Russian invasion. An Israel TV report specified that Ukraine has been in contact with Israel regarding the Iron Dome missile defense system, other missile warning technologies, and cyber defense technology.

During a press conference, Kuleba said there was “very deep cooperation… under the current circumstances” between Kyiv and Jerusalem, without elaborating.

“We are also interested in deepened defense cooperation on defense technology, in particular related to air defense,” he told a reporter from the Kan public broadcaster.

He added, “we would welcome the effort of Israel to play a diplomatic role between Ukraine and Russia,” apparently owing to the Jewish state’s close ties with both nations.

They should pay for a replication, not transfer.

How would you expect me to give you my roof?

Hello guys. Straight to the topic. In my eight years of marriage, he has never taken me out. I look good and dress well, i even have toasters outside. I am very faithful to him. I actually envy couples that go to outing, take pictures, create memories with their loved ones, but his own is different. Whenever i bring it up, he starts talking about this responsibility and the other one. I even told him that we should add money together just incase he doesnt have much, but he refused. I want to experience it and also want my 5 year old daughter to experience it too but she has never. He promised me that if i take in, he would take me out. It happened and he gave excuses until i forgot it. He then said wen i put to bed, we will go out. We never did. Even we dont celebrate anniversary because he doesnt want to spend anything. Na by force i dey take buy pepper meat and drink bitter just to mark the day. There was a day his friend offered to take me out in his presence. He didnt say anything. When it was almost evening time and I reminded the friend, if u see the way my husband shouted that i was long throat and that its ojukokoro that will kill me. I was so embarrassed. Now we are not on talking terms since yesterday because I reminded him about this outing issue, he said that with me, he knows he will never progress because I was an enemy of progress. Please i am dying of boredom and I cant go out with another man because he will get angry. Please is this stinginess or wat?

Win111:
Good morning everyone, I seriously need your advice on the decision am about to make.
Firstly I and my baby mama were in love for years right from when we were teenagers, it's over 9(nine) years now that I and my baby have been together and we were planning to marry ourselves but there is this red flag I used to see in her. In 2012 I went to Lagos for 3 months jamb tutorial before I came back my baby mama have been following another guy, when I came back I confronted her and she told me that she thought I was going to leave her that's why she followed another guy but I decided to forgive her and she promise me she won't go to that guy again but to my greatest surprised she kept on going back to that guy and anytime I confronted her she will deny it and also apart from that guy she also has another guys she fell in love with when they were still in secondary School, my fellow nairalander did you know that up till now my baby mama is still dating this particular guy after almost 10 years she has been with me and I always do everything she needs for her, I always stood by her whenever my family wants to attack her because my family were aware that she is dating another guy because we are from the same village and also my friends were aware of the situation, in short nearly everyone in my village know that she was dating this guy, I login her face book account on my phone because I knew her password and ever since then I use to see her chat with everyone on messenger, the one that broke my heart is when I saw her chat with one of her ex, the guy is begging her to come to Benin so they can have nice time but she told told the guy to come to our state because she can't leave our little baby behind, I confronted and I told her that am going to inform her family but she begged and I forget everything but I told her that am not going to marry her again because she is a disgrace to her family, because of her I can't go to our village again because it's a shame to me that my wife to be is following another man and nearly everyone in the village is aware of it.
The main issue now is that her younger sister is everything a man need in a woman, she has good behavior, she doesn't follow guys around infact they told me she does not have boyfriend in our home town because she is a good Christian and the one that impress me the most is that she is academically sound she does not joke with her studies at all. Everyone in our village always talk good about her. The problem now is that I love the younger sister but I don't know how to go about it, should I go and meet their family and tell them that I love the girl or I should move on and if I go ahead and meet their family will they accept me and does it even make sense If I marry her, what did you think people would be saying and will it affect affect my little baby from her elder sister.
Please elders in the house help me out.
You need a psychiatrist asap

redrose88:
Good morning Nairaland members, I hope we have all had a nice week and are looking forward to the weekend.

I brought this issue here hoping for workable suggestions after seeing how you have helped other people with their various problems.

Apologies for the long post but I really need your help.

As far as I can remember my mother has always had some kind of issue with me, I don’t know, it’s like she hates me or something. Constant screaming, embarrassment, reporting me to my dad or her siblings since I was small. I usually chalked it up to traditional African upbringing or that she was tired or stressed from work but after visiting family back home (I grew up abroad) and them also coming to stay here I can say there is a difference between traditional/strict parenting and actual abusive behaviour.

Children are the centre of every Nigerian mother’s life and even if they have some tough love techniques or discipline that may look harsh to me as an oyibo they always show their love in other ways that you can observe.

Like making sure the child always looks neat, teaching them things they need to know especially female children like cooking, washing. At least you can always tell that the love is there even if its not all kissing or “I love you” and all that.

A small example: I would always end up at school with my hair messy and tattered, I wasn’t allowed to style it in the salon even though she always make sure her own hair looked good. If I asked to get a nice childrens style at a salon she would report that I’m trying to be like all these Jamaicans, Akata and so on. But when I visited Nigeria I never once saw any little girl whose hair wasn’t done nicely, even if they were living in the slums. And again, other Nigerian/Ghanaian children in the same school never looked the way I did so how is this an Africa vs. Akata issue?

It may sound silly now but it’s just a small example of her neglectful and nasty attitude that does not relate to being from Africa or being a good Christian or whatever.

If I wanted to ask her something she would snap at me and start being hostile, after a simple mistake she would tell me that I’m like my father’s side, and she placed a curse on me that my younger siblings would grow up to surpass me. Is this from African culture?

If I’m cooking she’s nagging everywhere, why am I doing it like this, why am I slicing it like that, why am I taking so long, why am I this and that. That I should stop blocking the kitchen and allow other people to use it. But when I ask what the correct way to do it is, she won’t tell me; she would prefer to mock me in front of everybody. Knowing how important cooking is for women in our culture why chase your daughter away from the kitchen?

What bothers me the most is that she is always very nice and kind to other people’s children (cousins, classmates, neighbours) and just normal with my siblings but the complete opposite when it comes to me. If she were just a mean person who was horrible to everybody, it would be much easier to handle but she’s not! All this seems to be reserved for me and me only.

As I grew older and started university I thought she was mellowing a little bit because she would draw me closer and have conversations but I noticed that most times her “niceness” was actually just manipulation to get me to do what she wanted, using me to dump her problems with my dad or to stop me becoming more independent. Any sign of independence and the insults start flying again, this is from somebody who always narrates how children start boarding school in Africa when they are 11 years old and university at 16 years old and don’t need to keep staying near their parents all the time.

I tried talking to her about the way she behaves but it always ended badly with her getting offended, telling me I’m being disrespectful and so on.

Actually after reading similar threads on Twitter/Nairaland I realised that the majority of elder African people would feel insulted if their child tried to broach such an issue with them, so I decided to abandon that method and I actually quite regret it.

And I also regret answering her back and getting into arguments with her because it only dragged me down to a lower standard and messed up my temperament without solving anything. As well as providing a poor example to my siblings and giving her more ammunition against me to report me with. I don’t like myself whenever I’m near her at all.

Eventually when I realised she was never going to change and seeing the impact it was having on my life and behaviour I just dropped all contact with her and avoided her completely. I do feel much better and I wish I had done this sooner but I think it harms me in the long-term.

For example when I get married she will have to be an integral part of the arrangements and beyond but I really don’t want anything to do with her, I don’t miss her at all and I can’t stand her. I can’t imagine her coming to visit or doing omugwo or anything like that. Can you imagine doing all that with somebody who even drags the kitchen with you??

There are countless times where I went against my own wishes and obeyed her trying to be a respectful daughter only for her to turn around and blame me when it went wrong and I strongly suspect that my future marriage will follow the same pattern if I don’t keep her away from it. But this approach only obtains in Western society where you can get married without anybodys input and not in Nigeria where you need your family to back you in everything.

I dont stay in the family home anymore but I don’t know what to do because avoiding her essentially means avoiding my whole family. I can’t isolate any contact with them without her being involved in it somehow. At the same time I can’t imagine being stuck in her bondage again.

What do I do please?
She was depressed during your formative years.

Her depression is still untreated.

In your own case, there's even a step-father in the picture who probably adopted the boy and took on responsibility. Old age is just a few years away for everyone. What you sowed during your youth, you will reap in old age. Men are known to be especially lonely when they are getting old, even those that are still married- unlike women who most likely have children and grandchildren and omugwo to keep them busy.

Go and read Jeff Bezos story...his real father is a bicycle repairer till today. Another man raised Jeff. The sperm-donor of a father didn't bother to ask where he was till jeff became a billionaire. Even the surname 'Bezos' is his step-father's name. Now Jeff is the richest man in the world and doesn't even acknowledge the so-called sperm-donor. Same as Steve Jobs.

A word is enough for the wise...Gone are the days when 'children look for their irresponsible fathers' - like most of you believe. Children of these days no send you! Behave well in your youth!!
Only a wise man will read this and learn.

But how many want to get sense?

Lmao! I will be civil, but I won’t be welcoming.
Your being civil is kindness enough.

Men like this should be used to clean the streets, I mean both figuratively and literally.

He thought the boy must come back to find him. Now it is becoming clear that it might never happen, that is why he is crying out.

Bad of the woman to play that game, but the party with the child most times act very toxic and uncooperative. So I wouldn’t entirely blame people like the OP for giving them space.
The party cleaning up a mess will not cooperate with an irresponsible person.

If he had been dropping upkeep money regularly it would have been a piece of cake to invite the son.

If you were abandoned for 24 years would you be civil?

Hey guys I need your advice please

In brief I am a mother of 4 children and my two oldest children father have been abroad for almost 9 years he has abandoned the children,  he hasn't sent a kobo for their upkeep for all these years nor a phone call to know about their health. He returned back this January and he messaged me few weeks ago on Facebook ( I have been using my Facebook since 2008 with my real names) he requested for my number because he want us to meet with him to discussed about the children. I ignored the message because I think if my children had survived 9 years without him and they will survive more years to come without him. He messaged me three more times the last one was yesterday he said he is going back to Italy next week Tuesday  if I miss this opportunity to meet up with him . he will never bother me again and my children will hate me for keeping them away from him.

Please am I wrong for not wanting him to see the childrenhuh This is a serious matter if you have nothing good to say  please skip my post
Your feelings are valid.

However, if you feel that you can't support your kids by yourself, let him help you.

But a sensible man should seek you out, not send facebook messages.

I don't know how so many women tolerate these shitty treatments from men.

Modified:

Whaaaaaaaat?

I went though your previous posts and I'm so shocked at what you've had to go through.

KEEP YOUR KIDS WITH YOU!!!!

That man is horrible. Gosh, don't even talk to him. Keep the number blocked.

Call your kids and explain everything to them, then meuuuuve.

There was no place I said he was the demon.
It is my narrative so it has to be narrated through my words, oga how would I know what he is feeling,I only know of his actions.
Did I not wrote that he said I hardly give him Peace? That is his words,so what do you want me to say.oh chim!

I am anything but a saint and if demanding answers from my "husband"means I nag and choke then so be it.
You deserve to know what is going on because you're his wife.

If he gets stabbed in a hotel room, you'll be forced to clean up his mess.

Yes, a responsible man should not treat you this way.

P. S. That friend of his is a jackass, avoid him.

I called my husband and actually blasted him calling him a very big liar and how embarrassed I am.on Monday I left for the hospital he called and we discussed some business and the kids(I was actually not angry again knowing that he is no different from any other guy,if you see how he use to condemn cheating ehh....) Only for my mum to call me around 12 in the afternoon to ask me questions,my husband actually called my mum after I confronted him about what the girl said to tell her he is DONE with me,that I don't give him peace in the house that this and that.in summary calling the girl actually triggered divorce because I am ready for anything.

For those that are doubting that I am a woman, abeg I am.

I followed some lovely people advice and I have actually achieved alot of things this week

1i paid for driving lessons (he literally have to drive me everywhere or I take Uber)
2 I have dusted out my certificate and is seriously looking for jobs(I have contacted alot of outsourcing firms)
3 signed up for gym classes.

In a way I lost myself trying to be a good wife and mother that I literally drove away alot of my friends.i had to stop talking with a good olfriend of mine because my husband was chatting with her behind my back for long (this is one of the reasons I don't trust him)

Lots of information...

So what and what should I do to upgrade myself I have not work for a long time.

So, where do we start from?

1. Don't be afraid.

2. Take your time to decide for yourself what you want, and what kind of man you want in your life.

In the meantime:

Don't call the girl again. Don't ask your husband about her. But please don't have sex with him. Don't demean your body.

It's not easy but that's the best way to help you and him to figure out what you want for yourselves.

A man who triangulates you with another woman is disrespectful, immature, narcissistic.

He will tell you her qualities while showing you how inadequate you are. He has seen you finish. See finish.

If you're tired of doing nanny work, take the kids to Grandma's, preferably your Mom.

REINVENT YOURSELF

Anticipate and be proactive.
Where do you want to be living?
Which career do you want to take up?

Take things one step at a time.

He will still try this nonsense with you again.

Whatever you do, don't stop your career efforts, because for him to gather the liver to threaten your MOTHER with divorce shows he doesn't mind living without you. And he has ZERO RESPECT for your Mom.

What are we even talking about here?

Face front and build some dignity for yourself!

If he wants you back, you have to check if he's truly repentant (repentance will take a while). And never let him do that to your mother ever.
