Politics / Re: President Akufo-Addo Speaks On Nigeria Border Closure by Sirwallace(m): 2:00pm On Oct 30, 2019
mfm04622:

You forget Nigeria manufactures for the while of West Africa and even up to Central Africa! We underrate our manufacturing prowess because our manufacturers or their customers smuggles those goods out of Nigeria without paying duty! I schooled in Maiduguri and up to 2000 that I was there, if you go to a certain park, you will see goods manufactured in Nigeria being parked into different types of vehicles to be smuggled out! Plastic, pharmaceutical products, mats, etc! What if I told you a lie that food manufactured in Nigeria like Indomie, Milo, etc are supplied to the whole of West Africa? If you buy anything produced in Nigeria and the details are written in French and English, that thing is not meant for consumption only in Nigeria! It is meant for the whole if West Africa! Those manufacturers, how will they survive? We need to resolve the smuggling issue (both in and out) but the border need to be opened because it won't solve the problems!

I understand your point. But is it a common knowledge we consume more than we produce.
Smugglers of these goods undermine local manufacturers and that is why most of them go out of business.

We are talking tons of goods smuggle into the country without a penny being paid as duties on these goods. No developed country can take that. It is called trade Imbalance and we are at the receiving end.

Another thing is the issue of Nigerian Mindset and inferiority complex towards our own good. We import more than we export especially goods that can be produced around here.

In the long run, we stand to gain more than lose with the closure as lesser demands of dollar used in importing these goods will strengthen the Naira, boost local production, create employment and grow the economy.

Nairaland / General / Ghana To Start Teaching Students Swimming In School As Flood Take Over Their Sch by Sirwallace(m): 11:00am On Oct 30, 2019
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) says it has become imperative for swimming courses to be introduced to pupils in schools following the rising death toll of children under 10 in floods in the Ashanti region, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The latest is the drowning of a six-year-old twin girl at Moshie Zongo, a suburb of the Kumasi metropolis on Monday evening following a torrential downpour that lasted about 30 minutes.

The girl, according to Nsenkyire, “on her way home from school, was swept off her feet by floodwaters, resulting in a huge fall that landed her on a sharp metal, leaving a deep cut on her head; it is suspected that she died from the profuse bleeding”, he told Kumasi-based Angel FM on Tuesday.

“It is sad the way children are being swept away by floodwaters in the Ashanti region in recent times; as at this morning, twelve children have died in floods and it is high time we taught kids how to swim in school; it is very important that we take this step”, he said.

It won't! And the Government know.

The aim of this border closure is to force Benin Republic to a table where they will stop importation of goods to be smuggled into Nigeria! Obasanjo did same when a criminal kingpin was sending armed robbers to Nigeria to rob Nigerians of their high end vehicles.
Nigerian government can't succeed in this case. Smuggling into Nigeria contribute estimated 20% to Benin GDP. If they stop the smuggling, what benefit will they get in return? The fruits and vegetables they export to Nigeria can't match what they get from smuggling. So why would they give it up? Nigeria should just ensure we police our borders well and make the cost of smuggling too high for smugglers

Are you for real with your assertion?

The multiplying effect on the Nigerian economy cannot be overemphasised.

Do you realise nigeria manufacturers and producers are now working around the clock to meey local demands. Thats more sales for local farmers, polutry owners, local manufacturers etc.
Thats a rise in employment and tax for the govt.

The Govt get more duties from sea port usage as opposed to the Benin republic getting all the goodies and smuggling the product to the country.

Goodness me. Which part of the road did this happen?

And yet just between shagamu and Benin, you pass over 40 check points. Why can't those security agnet be redeployed to the kaduna Abj road

Those checkpoints are the doing of the south west governors after the killing of that Afenifere leader's daughter. Although checkpoints hace always been on that road, It was intensified as robbery and kidnapping on the road become incessant.

The FCT and Kaduna govt can arrange same on that road.

That dude that said you might do all this requirement and still not get the job was right.

Speaking from experience, I did the panel interview with one of the big 4.
I answered all the interviewers questions perfectly without flipping. I was the candidate with the highest CGPA in my group, you know those strong 2.1.
Network with people on nairaland and linked before the interview and still got dropped by them and my sorry ass is still jobless till date.

Not disputing the fact you have to prepare for these things, but thing is only the recruiters know exactly what they are looking for in a candidate even if you wow them like Obama in your speech.

As a matter offact, the Hausa language is the most popular nigerian language outside the country.
Infact, you can get more NGO jobs and international organization like UNICEF, UNESCO et al jobs with a required degree and fluency in the language.

Not saying she has body odor since I've never actually met her , but the fact she wasn't smelling when she was at your place , doesn't invalidate their claim .
Body odor is caused when bacteria break down protein into certain acids.

It is also known as B.O., bromhidrosis, osmidrosis, or ozochrotia .

This could be worsened by poor physical hygiene or underlying medical problem .

So if you haven't lived with her 24 hours on the clock , you really don't have enough evidence to counter them .

Knowing that body odor can be kept at bay for a certain amount of time with bottled perfumes
, body spray or roll on deodorant .

For someone that constantly calls the Intelligence of others to question ...Mr freeze always comes off as thewless , vacaous and numpty with most of his ridiculous assertions and half baked conclusions .

Kanye was a good child raised in the holy way. That reflected in his early song which are majorly gospel, love and motivational. Songs like "jesus walk", " champion", "heartless", " put on" with young jeezy etc.

But you know, the rap and the game change you and he was embedded in that.
Good to know he has found his salvation back to his root.

But with this change, I think he would lose a number of his fans.

There is one we call O.G.O.

every players aim to score a goal keeper at one post. If you dont score at the appropriate time, you are disqualified from playing further.

Another one in my neighborhood is called "SAMKOLO"; whatever that means. We played that without post targeting any player " kolo" that's nutmeg in today's football. Any player who get nutmeg get the beating of his life from every other players.

Do you know how scientists work?
They do so as a team with.one man as their leader, hence he takes credit or the fall for either the success or failure of the project.
Fermi created the nuclear bomb.
I never said Einstein won a Nobel for relativity cos it's bullshit anyways.
My stipulation is that Einstein's theories are useless in real life.
Photoelectric effect brought about semiconductors and all?
Dude please tell me how.
Einstein gave theories, other people actually found materials that could do this in an electric circuit and commercialised it,not dwelling on any E=hf equation some fuxktard sat in his empty house and formulated.

The real doers are out there doing things not writing equations all day.

You are the most irrational fellow I have come across on nairaland. And this is just a manifestation of the genesis of backwardness in Africa. A situation where we dont appreciate and value the great minds with theories and invention.

The "useless" Einstein you call it was well respected by president of the US who granted his citizenship during world war 2.

Now in engineering and sciences, we dont just build things, we work with theories and natural phenomenon; Einstein was a Genius in rational thinking.

Michael Faraday discovered electricity based on (electromagnetic induction) of voltaic cell (an italian)

Libz Biro invented the ball pen psycho like you use today. But do you know how he did it?
He works with his brother who happens to be a chemist on flow of the fluid use in the pen in a laboratory working with different fluid considering their viscosity and volatility ( another theory).

As simple as the pythagoras theory looks today, it was used by the Greek to conquer their enemies with precision in firing weapon.
Pythagoras, a theorist was Brutally killed by the Roman Army because of that. He didnt invent any shit but still well respected and feared.

The streamline shape of planes, fast cars, and train were design based on aerofoil and drag ( a phenomenon in fluid mechanics). These are designed to reduce friction and drag of these technology. You cant compare today's airplane to the brights'.
Not to lecture you about alfred Nobel who revolutiorised the quarry and brought connection of the whole world with his experiment with nitro compound based on reaction of reagents.

fleming, thomas edison and the likes who invented stuff based on these theories and they are still celebrated till date but not as Einstein.

Archiemedes design the volume for blacksmith to produce a ring for a Greek king using buoyancy and principle of floatation (another theory). He didnt built it you know.

Back to Einstein, Einstein was instrumental in particle theory of matter at a time most scientists frown at it. I know you might not know this, but theories are basis upon which invention are made and this explains why it is keenly contested by scientists.

The applications of all these theories and model is what ungrateful folks like you enjoy today.

You realize that it is possible for constitutions to be amended right ? Something being written in the constitution doesn't automatically make it correct.

Just because Christianity and Islam say it's wrong doesn't make it okay to treat lgbt people badly or deny them their rights. By that logic if there was a group that kills Christians and Muslims or punishes them severely then that groups actions are also justified because maybe their Constitution or religion call for it.

Both Christianity and Islam allowed the taking of slaves and the constitutions of the middle East and West allowed for it. So surely slavery is correct and no one needs to apologize for enslaving the black man.

You are missing the point. Constitution is the supercede any other laws in a country unless the religion law is the standard constitutional practice in the country like in the middleast.

And yes, changes in narrative, law and other and political correctness can only be ratified by the constitution.

The OP is brilliant but clearly not intelligent.

Firstly It was teaching the young kids out of contest on a national topic way above their learning cycle.

Secondly, he was brainwashing the young kids with conspiracy theories on election that so many factors are responsible for failure and success at the polls. And linking that to gay right is way above board for kids at that stage.

Thirdly from his write up, it is a clear fact the dude is a sentimental and politically aligned to a particular region and political party respectively and this clearly affect his judgement.

Lastly, he is too arrogant to admit he made errors with his style of teaching and for the fact that he sees everyone from the north as illiterate boost his ego as to what he teaches and how he does it without interference from anybody.

Why should they be jailed ? Because your book says they're sinners ? If I make a new religion saying Christians and Muslims are evil and should be jailed, can I do so?

Our constitution clearly made it clear that homosexuality, gayism, lesbianism and other LGBT are crime with capital punishment.

For the fact that the two popular religions also frown at them is more reason it should be outlawed from our society.

So you don't have a valid argument and if we found gay among us, that person like bobrisky should be severely dealt with according to our laws and not what "new jesus" like you creating new religion says or write in your new religion.

When the started looking for the phone, she simply said, “go and wait for me in the car”, even when everyone insisted I am going nowhere ( I used to keep beards so it was easy pointing fingers at me). As I left she dialed the number with her phone, the nurse’s husband picked and told her she forgot the phone at home, my mama went mad. I could hear her voice from the car park.

One day, I’ll remind her about that day.
