BlackBovi: Nigerian TV Host, Tobi Akingbade, Writes After Surviving COVID-19.
Shared with Caption ...
I survived coronavirus. Spent nearly 2 weeks indoors + in quarantine as my body fought it off. Yesterday, I took my first steps downstairs, headed straight to my garden + took a deep breath
Wasn’t gonna share this online but I’ve been encouraged to share hope & good news 1/18
Because a lot of us may not get access to Covid-19 testing kits and calls with NHS 111 feel scripted, I’ll share my experience. It may help someone. These were my symptoms... 2/18
Day 1: I’d been informed that I was in contact with someone who had been in contact with someone with covid-19. Nothing serious I told myself, but I decided to social distance anyway. Later I found out I’d been in direct contact with a confirmed case 5 days before. 3/18
Day 2: I develop a very dry cough. And a swollen gland I developed 2 days before Day 1 became very prominent. The cough was persistent making speaking for longer than 40 secs hard. I was extremely fatigued. I’m anaemic and well acquainted with tiredness but this was chronic 4/18
Day 3: A good night sleep did not help. My chest was painfully tight, at first I blamed work anxiety. I developed a fever (was hot + cold at the same time). I struggled to walk and my breathing became shallow + difficult. The muscles in my neck began to ache. 5/18
Day 4: The scariest day. Woke up feeling like I’d been run over by a truck in my sleep and then thrown of a cliff. The muscles in my face ached. The muscles in eyes hurt. Every muscle hurt. My persistent cough became extremely painful. Developed a painful migraine. 6/18
Day 4: Still with a fever and cough. On this day I became frightful of how my body would force itself to sleep. My breathing was worrying and I feared the worst. I called NHS 111 who confirmed my suspicions and instructed me to self-isolate in my room as I don’t live alone. 7/18
Day 5: I slept a lot. Keeping my eyes open was painful and a core. Wore sunglasses to use my phone. The sunlight made my migraine worst. My body ached and my breathing became worst. Coughing didn’t help. I could feel my lungs getting heavier, every breath got shorter. 8/18
Day 6: Painkillers did not stop the pain. Also stockpiling trends meant even my pharmacist could not help. Was scared to sleep as my breathing was not improving. Could not hold my breath for more than 2 secs. 9/18
Day 7: I became alarmed when I noticed I lost the ability to taste food. Nearly passed out brushing my teeth as it was obstructing my breathing. NHS were too overstretched to help. At this point I was begging God, I didn’t want to die this way 10/18
Day 8: Twitter said that running a humid shower would help breathing. It did for me. I drew my curtains for the 1st time, still needed sunglasses. Body aches stopped. Migraine not so persistent. Coughed less but it was a nauseous and brought up yellowy phlemg from my lungs 11/18
Day 8: Still breathless from just sitting up, sharp pains in my chest but migraine improved. Body temperature back to normal. Coughed about twice a day. Found the strength to find hope. 12/18
Day 9-12: Saw improvements slowly. Was able to hold my breath for 8 secs now. Slept less, was able to WFH at times. Called NHS again due to a scare with breathing, unable to get medical assistance but the problem solved itself. Became physically restless on Day 11 13/18
Day 13: Walked down the stairs for the first time. Thanked God and walked around my garden. Wasn’t sure I’d remember what fresh air would feel like. 14/18
I know the staff at NHS did everything they could for me with the limited resources they had. On a normal day, I would have been accepted into A&E. It was touch and go. Also, I was not tested. 15/18
I've lost several days of my life to this illness. Many others have lost their lives. You can do your part by staying at home, stop joking around & take it seriously. I’m a healthy 28 year old & it hit me hard. I’m grateful to have recovered but I will continue to do my part. 16
I might do another thread on what helped me get through it?
I’m gonna talk about the emotional side of coping with this during the next episode @YellowCupPod. It includes avoiding anxiety, my faith, prayers and positive affirmations.
Source: https://twitter.com/TobiRachel_/status/1244276393963393024 I have been fighting off extreme fatigue with back pains for about 10days now. Did not bother calling the NHS cos they are overwhelmed already and we are asked to call only in extreme symptoms. Let me make you people laugh a bìt. I started eating garlic and black grapes like snacks from last week Saturday which was 10days ago till date. My confusion is that I don't have persistent cough, no difficulty in breathing at any time, very rare episodes of sneezing and very low grade fever and no soretroat. I used hot water and salt to gaggle I used aboliki balm with hot water and even stuffed my nostrils with the balm...drank so much water, lost my sense of taste and all I just want to do is sleep sleep and sleep. I take Panadol extra once a day since last week up till this moment. The truth is that I have never felt this way in all my years and I have done my best, prayed in tongues, anointed my body with oil and I trust GOD to do the rest for me. The truth is that I can't call the symptoms covid-19 But whatever it is, I will overcome it in Jesus name...AMEN |

kikero: It would be a good thing if Nigeria did the same.
However, we are heavily in debt. And the price of oil has fallen below what we need it to run a balanced budget. If we tried to do what the UK, and the US are doing, we would be in so severe debt...that we might as well sell the country and be done with it. Lame excuse. So is U.K and U.S not in bldebts? |

I have friends who treat them like trash but the ladies still keep chasing them. Some don't even have money or cars o. Ladies love bad guys. It is just the way they are. 8 out of every 10 bad guys were once good but were taken for granted by ladies. |

You shouldn't have done that!

I guess some people only watch NTA
The most stupid set of people are those that say the virus can't thrive in our environment and our blood is too strong for the virus bullshits.
How is the climate of India any different from Nigeria that they are also on lockdown? The problem is the mutation of the virus. It becomes more virulent by the day to conform to the environment it finds itself It is also unfortunate that many Nigerians are using self medication which may make the virus become tolerant and become even more dangerous. So YES there could be a sort of immunity by the people of colour at the beginning but with the mutational tendencies of the virus, no one is safe...NO ONE |

Shugavee: There is absolutely nothing like a broke / lazy good man. You can never know the real him till he has some money. You can never know if he’s faithful, except he got money in his pocket!!
So ladies, don’t waste your time, if he doesn’t have a source of income, he is a waste. Always remember that your time and attention is an investment, don’t waste it on some dude who got just sex to offer. Don’t let people single shame you that you go for anything and don’t ever agree that you can only offer sex. They know you have a lot to offer.

Family › Re: Virginity Doesn't Guarantee A Stable Marriage (a Must Read for young ladies) by Toks2008(m): 3:31am On Mar 18, 2020 |
Vega100: Disclaimer This thread does not in anyway encourage promiscuity nor does it propergate indecency but rather it underscores some real facts for young ladies to be aware and more mindful of what's ahead.
So a very close friend of mine I happen to know very well married as a virgin, this was about 11 years ago. After about a year of blissful marriage, her marriage turned hell in the ensuing years that followed, she never opened up to me until last week when she did; she is blessed with kids, but her husband has been giving her hell in the marriage, abuses her, both physically, mentally and emotionally, carries various young girls and flaunts them to her face. She is about calling it quite. This is a girl I know very well as we grew up together, and I can vouch for her on many fronts, one thing I know about her is how genuine, cool headed and humble she is, she's someone meek at heart, I am sure she wouldn't create problems for her husband in a home, she was just unfortunate falling into the wrong hands
I also happen to come from a large family with 5 sisters (all married), from all my sisters, the one with the best marriage is the one that lived more of a party life style in school, attended many parties etc, and the one with the worse marriage was the one that married a virgin (actually, she has the kind of personality I wouldn't be surprised might cause problem for her , her husband and husband relatives, as she could be selfish).
My point is, for the Ladies, being chaste and maintaining high morals is something any parent will be proud about and will long for their child to uphold; but do not see that as all you need to portray yourself as suitable enough "wife material". Marriage is something very dynamic and complex, it entails a lot, and has to do with both you working on various facets of your life (of which sexuality is just one) as well as being able to choose an appropriate partner for yourself.
Do not see being a Virgin as the price you have to uphold for your husband, as it doesn't in anyway guarantee a good or perfect marriage (far from it), it is rather more dependent or perhaps a fine and infallible blend of various facets of your life viz a viz personality, charisma, behaviour, sensibility etc. as well as your keen sagaciousness in choosing an appropriate partner who is sensible and will be very well compatible with you..
Just a food for thought sageful minds can ruminate and mull over!!
Thank you very much for your time.
Yours truly
Vega100 Virginity guarantees maximum respect from your husband and what you wrote up there is an isolated case. |
