Ikenna351:
Numerous calls, messages & emails I receive weekly are request from people asking me to recommend a reliable, trusted and knowledgeable Japanese mechanic/technician in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria. Likewise, majority of Lion owners I have met in Abuja owns Japanese vehicles as well and would always ask me to recommend a good trusted Japanese technician to them for their non lion Vehicles. While kingreign is here having fun with his fingers and losing these prospective clients/customers from me with his insults and mocks. He is too childish to realize or understand what he is doing to himself. I don't even operate automobile workshop and he does (or used to) and need those people more than I do. As a Monk, I am my only responsibility, financially and otherwise. While his financial responsibility will keep increasing since he is married, requiring more money to sustain his new married life. Please, let him enjoy himself.

kingreign, GAZZUZZ and the remaining gang members have ruined Car Talk section with their hate, envy, jelousy and attack on other active or former active members on this section. I wanted to use this thread to share information on how to successfully Convert a Z9 V6 from Auto to Manual, which doesn't exist anywhere online. But they have successfully stopped that from happening. This section would have been the only place in the whole world/online that the information would have existed. What a waste! Just as Jesus said, if you enter a house and they are not interested in the free information you come with, dust your sandals, shut the door behind you and walk away with your peace/information. I am not even a Christian or a religious man, yet I always find my life choices, perspectives or lifestyle a match/similar to that of Christian's God (Jesus Christ). I wonder why.

Ikenna351, Lion King - Monk.
Monk, you should care less about what they say or do.
If your intention was to share how the conversion was done, please go ahead.
I do not drive a Peugeot but I like some of your threads.
We are all different people who do things differently.
You cannot expect everyone to agree with you all the time.
Ignore those who don't agree with you and hearken to those who share your aspiration.
Cheers.
Car TalkRe: What Could Be Done As My 2004 Honda CR-V Burns Oil At 255k Miles?. by 9icetoo(m): 5:20pm On Jun 15, 2020
Martiny:
Hi all, professional advice needed as my 6months old tokunbo Honda CR-V 2004 at 255,000 miles burns oil, I notice a black colour on the exhaust too. I discover a regular shortage on the guage even when recently serviced.
Black soot on the exhaust is not a confirmation that it's burning oil. It may be from incomplete fuel consumption.
Secondly, you have not ruled out external leaks.
Lastly, how many liters of oil does this engine burn between oil changes? Less than a liter isn't a very good reason to swap engines depending on the cost of the whole exercise.
Start with the easier things first.
Wash your engine and undercarriage thoroughly. Look for external leaks. Look for oil stains where you park.
Clean or change your pcv.

It's up to you to decide whether to ring the engine or source Tokunbo replacement depending on the mechanic expertise around you.
I'd ring the engine though.
Car TalkRe: Please Help It's My Fuel Consumption Okay by 9icetoo(m): 9:49am On Jun 13, 2020
veecent:
I've scanned and got no code. The consumption increases after the fuel passes the half tank mark. I can hardly get 150km
The consumption doesn't increase after the half way mark. It is the way the gauge is designed. It isn't symmetrical.

6km/liter isn't outrageous. Maybe you have a heavy foot, maybe you idle a lot(with the AC on, that can be tempting), maybe you've got a brake that is binding, maybe you drive ridiculously short distances eg 3 kilometers per trip. With this sort of short distances, your car never really gets to warm up and drive at its efficient temp.
The only way to know if your car is healthy is to fill up, take it to a highway and drive for about fifty kilometers. Fill up again and check how many liters it took to cover that 50kms. If you get anything above 12km/liter, then your car is fine.
One last thing, what's the state of your transmission? Does it shift smoothly all the time?

I haven't bought a brand new tire in 2 years so I wouldn't know. However, I've bought Tokunbo Yokohama tire and it is quite good. No warp, no bulge, apparently minimal wear after 5k miles.

PLEASE KINDLY HELP GUYS
I recently got a Nigerian used Skoda octavia, and i have never enjoyed it for once, After spending lots of money to bring it to shape, it started crawling and jacking. Any time i hanged in traffic and tries to accelerate, no matter how i press the gas pedal, it will not accelerate. i need a trustworthy Skoda mechanic to deal with it cos i want to tackle the issue rather than sell the car
my mechanics is a Volkswagen specialist but he was just doing the typical trial and error stop, at first he said gear oil, later coil, now he thinks it is the fuel pump
please kindly help
Skoda is a Volkswagen with a different badge.
I guess you have to look for another mechanic. If you are in Lagos, reach out to greatstephenho on Nairaland. He might help you source for a decent mechanic.
Volkswagen's. Haha. Na person wey never gave their wahalla.

Hello guys, I've never had any experience when it comes to car. I've never been behind wheels before. I'm a complete learner when it comes to car and any issues about it. However, a friend of mind just sent cars from CA and he's offering me to get BMW 320i 2004 for 1.150.
Please I'll like to know the pros and cons of getting it before even proceeding to getting a mechanic to follow me. Any advise or suggestions are highly welcome. I'll be active to answer any questions that you might have.
It's a good ride. No major known problems. Quite reliable.
Use recommended fluids and you will be alright.
If it's coming from Canada, make sure your friend checks the underneath thoroughly for rust.

Car TalkRe: Audi S8 2007 by 9icetoo(m): 10:06am On May 31, 2020
If the Porsche cayenne will announce your arrival, the Audi S6 or S8 will do same. Unless na poor people u dey roll with.

Both Audi's are "in your face". There is no way your circle will mistake the A4 for s6 or s8.

Audi's are essentially Volkswagen's. Same issues.
If you found the A4 a bit of a challenge to maintain, the S8 will dig a hole for you.

I can't advise you on any car to choose. Buy what you like. Since you already have a fairly capable hand who has cut his teeth on the a4, the s8 shouldn't be too difficult for him to maintain as well but you will be much more patient for jobs to be performed on the s8 while you use the a4 as your backup car.

come and finish the story nah
Lol. Car has since been sold.
Glow plug relay wiring got shorted out. Diagnosis from electrician was that the whole fuse box needed to be changed. Getting the fuse box was a challenge. Relay was connected direct and problems still persisted.
I park vehicle begin drive the mdx. No Time.
Car was sold last year.
New owner removed the engine and put in a petrol engine.
Turned out cylinders were a bit scoured which leads me to believe the cylinders had low compression.
The glow plug tips were also burnt out which may have contributed to the scouring as the tips fell into the engine.
Sad end to a much loved car.

Biko what am I selling?
Na only Mercedes Truck I advertise oo and even before I got to upload the picture, it was sold.

Volvo is a good car with all the bells and whistles you will find in a Mercedes and made with premium materials.

The s60 looks very nice. I don't really like the s40 looks.

As for Mercedes, if you are not buying it toks, don't even bother.

Thank you.

How can I confirm that it is OEM the mechanic buys?

The mechanic is a stone throw from my house and I want to use him.

Also, yesterday morning I wanted to drive out and noticed the gear lever refused to move....its stuck in park.

What could be the cause as the ATF is still there.

#naija used cars tho.... sad
I can't confirm what OEM looks like. Never bought one before.
But it won't be cheap. I suggest you look up luvvinhubby on Nairaland. He sells Honda parts and should be able to guide you on that.

As per the gear lever being stuck in park, check your brake switch, confirm your battery still has enough juice. If the two above are correct, try inserting something in the slot beside the gear. That should free up the gear. Then check your transmission range switch.

Your mechanic should be able to get the car out of park though. He will know all I mentioned above.

Naija used cars are hit and miss. Often miss.
Car TalkRe: Accord 07 (DC) Repairs by 9icetoo(m): 12:56pm On May 28, 2020
Which of the catalyst is missing? The one on the manifold on the engine or the one under the car?
Your misfire is most likely the cause of the high fuel consumption. And if you say it consumes fuel, what's your kilometer per litre?
Make u no go use corolla or micra consumption dey measure accord DC consumption.
Use Tokunbo mounts as has been advised Unless you can afford OEM.
