OBI-a meek man without the usual 'nigerian political swagger' i think what nigerians need are not liars or crooks or illiterate god fathers but accountable leaders.OBI has constructed more roads than our ngige which is just one 'arm' of obi anids of the all rounder developmental programmes including health, security , transportation, grass root development, economy, education ,agriculture etc, whis are so numerous to mention for want of time. So in other words obi achieved all that in roughly three years and all ngige could achieve are roads.Well i see it as another polical 'scope',knowing fully well that anambralian would be returning home during christmas,so our roads are constructed to appeal to us. This is good no doubt but we need more than roads to suceed as state. We need proper functioning public institutions which is exactly what obi has done.OBI'S only offence is that he is 'stingy' which to me is a plus for him because he wouldn't do bazaar with our little resorces or share it to illiterate godfathers and greedy 'elites'
We don't need a stingy leader. It is not his money, it is public fund. Yaradua demonstrated his stingy nation in Katsina and was boasting of leaving billions in office but the truth was that he had no ideas so there was no need spending the money when he had no game plan.
Obi is another baba-go-slow. No that's not what we want.

Soludo will do the job. Anambrarians!!! shine your eye

LOL you just proved me right. You bought your laptop after you got a job in a company? Dear, people here start owning laptops from high school or at least before going to college. What's college without a laptop? Homework assignments are mostly on there. The only reason a college student here won't own a laptop is maybe because s(he) is one of those freaks who never see the need for such stuff, they'd rather go to the library even at midnight to use the computers there.
Again you prove me right when I say you visited Nigeria last in the 60's. I bought mine when I began working but go to our Universities here in Nigeria and see students using their personal laptops for their research work. I visited Covenant University (Ota - Ogun State) and I was impressed. Please come down to Nigeria and pay a visit to that school and you will agree with me that the days Nigerians sing America wonders are over.

chiogo:
As far as I know, no one group owns America, that's why it's called the United States, true Americans my nyash!! Columbus stole it from the Indians, the whites used black, spanish, and many other ethnic groups to build the America we know today. Why do you think Indians get free education?
Ah! Ah!! Ah!!!, there u go again with the feeling that you have a stake in America. My dear obliterate that notion. Oh I can now see why u feel so comfortable in another man's land. If there are no true American's, why did they have to wait so long till 2008 before getting their first black president?

Soludo any day!!! looking at a man like Soludo, you will realize he is one dogged man who will only play to the gallery just to win the support of PDP godfathers but immediately he wins, he'll turn his back on them and do what is right for Anambra.

Ngige tried during his short term but he had no choice because he had no one to run to so he had to work for the people to get their support. If he had no problem with Uba and Obasanjo, we would have known the true Ngige.

Obi should sit down and come as a deputy Governor.

I'll surely vote Soludo.

Honeric, you just don't get it.

In Nigeria, you can work your ass off and still not be able to buy a laptop or even get a job to begin with. In America, if you don't have those things, it's not due to lack of opportunity but laziness to take advantage of the opportunity. simple!
My dear, wake up!!! You must have left Nigeria to the US in the 60's and you are not aware of the happenings. Iam hooked up to the internet from my own home with my personal laptop. I bought my laptop during the first three months I began working in my company.

I have an uncle in the US who is now a citizen. Some years back he sent some coats to two of my other uncles in Nigeria. He indeed was feeling like a yankee super star but my uncles here in Nigeria were just laughing at him because those were coats you will see in okrika at yaba in lagos. He inded thought life was as bad as the foreign media and people like you paint it. When he came to Nigeria to inspect the progress of his building, reality dawned on him because he saw that the people he was sending coats for wear good suits and were doing good jobs. He became startled (and let me use the word) flabbergasted when he realized they had gigantic structures in Lagos. They were doing good jobs.

As am writing now, he is thinking of relocating and my other uncles wanna fix him up with a good job here.
My advise to you all out there who are posing with the labour of others is for you to come back home and enjoy the freedom of been in your country rather than complaining of money growing on trees. Men and women like Martin Luther, Rosa Parks struggled for blacks to have a decent life in US and today you are there posing. Why don't you come back home and be the Martin Luther of your country.

The only Nigerians respected in the US are those that have made impacts in their own home and affected the world at large not liabilities to the US who come to enjoy basic amenities meant for true Americans.

Half of the americans dont know what malaria is here, keep boasting, many more people are trying to leave the country than stay in it.  cheesy
You are really funny. Is malaria the only disease that kills? I'll give you the list of diseases that consume most lives on a regular basis in the US.

1. Malignant tumor
2. Cerebrovascular diseases
3. Diseases of the heart.

How many Nigerians do you hear have such diseases in Nigeria. That's why u hear the doctors give them a time frame to live. My dear wake up to reality.
Travel › Re: Why Do People Back Home Think Money Grows On Trees Abroad? by Meldrick(m): 5:19pm On Oct 16, 2009
It beats my imagination when people atttribute diseases, high crime rate and other social vices to coutries like Nigeria alone. The United States is rated as the ninth (9) highest in the world in rape cases. It is also rated as the 24th in the world in murder cases. Funnily enough as good as the economy is, the suicidal case is rated as the 7th highest in the world.

I sympathize with a lot of our Nigerian brothers who thought money was littered on the streets of Washington and as a result they denied the other members of the family the right to enjoy the little income they earn here in Nigeria and their families sold all their belongings to get them abroad. When they finally get there, they turn their backs and start creating topics on Nairaland with the caption, ''Why Do People Back Home Think Money Grows On Trees Abroad''?
Now you know money doesn't grow on trees, come back and re-arrange your life but you refuse.

I was in France during one of my leave period and I saw a man who used to be our neighbour, He was much more elderly. When I saw him, he tried to dodge but I called and greeted him. He asked what I was doing there and i explained, after telling me his pathetic story, I advised him to come back but shame wouldn't allow him. It's just a pity. Why won't you be relevant in the country God placed you and be adoured by foreigners. A lot of Africans make names under this underdeveloped state and they are hailed by foreigners. Those are the people respected by foreigners not those who act as liability to foreign nations.

you are one of those who r living good in naija and believes others r living same as u. in case u dont kno d rich is getting richer and poor getting poorer in naija. and for your info my name is Igbogirl not Nigeriangirl. I'll claim Igbo b4 i will ever claim Nigeria. till today i regret that Biafra didn't win the war cos there's nothing to be proud of abt nigeria. and yes u read me right, washing dishes in America can open so many doors for u, u can save up money, go to sch, or even get promoted and no one will ever look down on u. but do same in naija and see if ppl wont laugh at u. believe it or not America has more opportunity than Nigeria and stop being in denial cos u happen to hav a good job. hav u wondered how ppl in naija without your job or money r living? they r obviously not living as good as u, they r suffering and the govt isnt doing anything abt it, in fact the govt doesnt care. i am in America to stay, i can never be kicked out cos i wasnt here illegally. so your prayer will not come to pass.
admit it Nigeria is a big shame! at 49 still hav nothing to show for it. we hav our own natural resources yet we dont see the use of the money, till today electricity is not reliable, health care is a joke, ppl die frequently from diseases they shdnt die from why? cos there's no good medical care, no medical equipments, no nothing. what exactly are u proud of abt Nigeria? a country and leaders that dont care abt their citizens.
I'll give you a quote from the words of a famous American President, '' Do not think of what your country will do for you but what you can do for your country''. I was never born with a silver spoon. After my secondary school days, I hawked the popular yourghurt on the streets of lagos. After that era, I worked in a Pure Water Company. I was determined and I got into the university. I remember when I was in 200level, the school decided to use students in building the multi purpose theatre. A lot of guys were ashamed but some of us removed shame from our eyes and at the end of the day we were paid for manual labour. It was not easy but with God I scaled through and he blessed me with a job. I suffered that alone but that has not stopped me from helping friends and relatives. It has not made me lose faith in my country.

A lot of Nigerians passed through that state but they understand the principle of giving and recieving and they keep helping without complaining.
Please change your orientation. We have lots of Nigerians doing well as a result of hardwork. They only travel abroad for holidays but they cannot abandon their country for anothet man's country. I belong to that group. If things are difficult over there, remove shame and ask for assistance and those relatives you feel are begging you for money eill help.
You could send your CV down and I'll not fail to assist in helping out where I can but allow the purpose of God to be fulfilled in your life. Make yourself relevant in your environment and you will be respected abroad. We have Chiamanda Adichie, ayoung lady of 29 doing the country great. We have a lot of others doing Nigeria great. You can be part of them but not by been a cab driver in another man's country. No No No

All these you are talking are all bullsh1t. Why would they come back to Nigeria? And do what? A janitor or cab driver in America will do much better than someone in Nigeria doing same job. Nigeria is a forsaken and corrupt country, those who make it are people in high positions in their jobs or those in oil companies. There are many opportunities in America for students than there is in Nigeria. A student can borrow loan and get a good education in America but that's not the case in Nigeria. However, that does not mean life is that easy here but it's just that you achieve your goals and dreams when u put your mind to it cos the sky is your limit here. So, u folks in Nigeria need to stop assuming that money grows on trees. America is better than Nigeria but still we work really hard here to make ends meet and having ppl back home harrassing us very early in the morning for money is unwelcome and annoying.
Don't tell us that crap abt coming back if we find it difficult here cos we will rather wash dishes here than wash dishes in Nigeria cos doin it here will open doors of opportunity for us than doin it in Nigeria.
the funny thing is that ppl bak home don't ask for small money, it's always in thousands of dollars. and don't be fooled not only relatives bak home ask for money, ppl uve neva heard of b4 that aint related ask of money as well.
frustration is already kiling most students in Nigeria. strike upon strike. it takes 10yrs for someone to finish a 4yr course in Nigeria all b/c of stupid strikes. here in America, it will take u 3yrs or even 2yrs to finish some 4yrs majors.
@ Igbogirl

A great dissapointment I feel with your post.  You are really short informed on the happenings in Nigeria. I have never scrammbled to travel abroad. The few times I went abroad was just for holiday and it was during my leave in the office but I am one of those Nigerians who believe you can make it anywhere. You must not go and wash dishes or wash dead bodies in another man's country to make it. I consider that the highest level of degredation to a man's worth.

I don't work in an oil company neither am I a politician but God has blessed me with a good job amd I am comfortable with the little that comes from it so does a lot of Nigerians. You say Nigeria is a forsaken country. People like you who badmouth the country will be put to shame but remember when foreigners will be kicked out abroad, you cannot be considered. You can only feel like them but you can never ever be them. No No No.

I suggest you wipe out that username(Igbogirl) and adopt Americangirl. A big shame to some one who is expecting open doors from washing dishes and dead bodies in another man's country. It's quite unfortunate people ask you for money like you said but I doubt if anybody wil ask you for money.

If we had the power, a lot of people would have influenced the type of parents they would come through. A lot would have preferred to be children of Bill Gates. If we had power over our lives, a lot of us would have influenced our place of birth. A lot would have chosen to be born in the United Staes but we thank God. He is God and can never be influenced by our selfish interest.

@ redsky

No matter the ambience or enjoyment, you must realize another man's country can never be your country. You could call your friends abroadf and make mokery of the type of hospitals that exist in your country. What a shame.
As underdeveloped as Senegal is, Akon remains an Ambassador and is proud of been a Senegalese. Wyclef Jean never seizes to represent Haiti. Wesley Snipes had to trace his roots to Africa (Nigeria).
My friend, don't feel too comfortable in another man's coutry. Am glad someone enlightened you with the fact that you could own your own wrist BP machine here in Nigeria. Home will always be home.

But why the cry about money growing on trees. If you are not finding it easy abroad, why don't you come home? No body forced you to go abroad. No one will ask you for money except your relatives and close friends that impacted in you when you were in Nigeria. It is time to extend a hand of fellowship and you go about telling the whole world how your own relatives ask you for assistance.
It is only human and natural. Even we in Nigeria extend a hand of fellowship to relatives of ours who need assistance.
I have never dreamt of going to wash cabs or doing any crazy job in another man's country, God has blessed me with a good job in Nigeria and I have always had the orientation that when you work, you don't work for yourself alone but you must impact in lives and be a blessing to people. You don't need to be abroad before people demand from you. Even for us in Nigeria, people demand from us and we have never seized to help because we understand the biblical principle that it is more blessed to give than recieve.

When you leave your country to go and enjoy in another man's country (a product of other people's sweat) expect anything. Come home and better your country if you are going throiugh hell in another man's country. You guys are really the one's putting our country in a bad light among foreign nations. Assist in empowering your people so they will not be a liabilty to you when you are here or abroad.
