seanfer:Technically, according to the Constitution, Section 68.1: A member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if: g). being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected: Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored; or h.the President of the Senate or, as the case may be, the Speaker of the House of Representatives receives a certificate under the hand of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission stating that the provisions of section 69 of this Constitution have been complied with in respect of the recall of that member. He has not fulfilled any of these three loopholes, and so therefore, they should recall his ass. This is what we mean by the citizens not exercising their rights and powers. Then they wonder when politicians run roughshod over them. As usual, nothing will happen, for this is Nigeria. |
SmartPolician:What do you mean? The topic is somebody who doesn't remember how many people he's killed bah? I just gave examples of others who don't remember (or even care to know) the Nigerians they too have killed. Why should we make noise about this one, when some of his (alleged) sponsors just got Lexus and Toyota SUVs as allowance? Sometimes, like Fela used to teach us, we have to look past the distracting commotion in front of us, and pay attention instead to the silence in the background, for that is where you'll find the real criminals. |
Neither do our senators, governors, or president. They have killed countless people by stealing money meant for medicines, good hospitals, constant light, potable water, weapons, good roads, etc. In fact, some of them are even sponsoring boko haram, so what are we talking? |
After abusing Nigeria that "nothing works", "this is a shithole", "there are no jobs"... shebi they've gone and found out that there are worse places to be... Now that Covid19 don dry market finish, dem dey open mouth to call on "our government". The same government they demonize day and night. And when they come back they will refuse to pay taxes. Make dem them dey dere joh ![]() Calling on pastors and alfas for assistance keh... ladies you are on a long thing. Money for flight and visa to Lebanon could have started something promising here... but they refuse to listen |
As usual, people here are ignoring the message and getting bogged down in pointing fingers at the other side. There is no single part of this country that one can call: "world class". For 60+ years, it's as if the country refuses to budge. This person is talking true... if you look at Mushin, Kebbi, Ibadan, Aba, Enugu, Kano, Ilorin, Asaba, Yenagoa... it's like one big glorified slum. Sure, we have some impressive buildings in a few neighborhoods, but how is water supplied? Borehole. Electricity nko... self gen. Sewer nko... na personal soakaway. When it rains, all those neighborhoods na F9. When people get sick... no good facility, that's if there's light. The food we buy... there's no single market in Nigeria that we can call hygienic. Flies, potopoto, waste everywhere. It was the same in 1980s... it's the same in 2020s haba. Every governor has given out kerosine, oil, groundnut, yam, or some other bullshit in order to win votes and buy people's voices. Instead of youths to gather with one voice, they are here pointing fingers that "your leader is worse, and your people are poorer". How I wish the revolution will start from Mushin, Warri, or Kano... and there will be no stopping until the system is renewed. But instead, our youths (don't count me, I'm over 40) will tune in to see who is touching body on BBNaija, then complain that our leaders are stealing from them. |
You realize at the end of the video she still said: "give me your hand..." That boy still chop am sha, regardless of calm down. ![]() |
... and the men that bought said services? They went scot-free right? |
engrrichie92:I'm going to say this, but not with harsh intent. Realize that you are one of a few lucky ones in this country making this amount. As a result, don't wallow in this kind of thinking. Millions of Nigerians work stressful and exhausting jobs (factories, on the street, construction, farming), and don't make anywhere near what you're making. Many Americans sef barely cover living expenses, upon back breaking work. So suck it up, but instead of working to live, start working with an eye towards funding an opportunity. In that light, don't spend all you make. You didn't mention how much you have left over after paying all your expenses, but if you're like most middle-class people, you spend on a nice residence, nice car, nice clothes, and other nice things you feel that you deserve - rather than save or invest. Which means you're just working to continue the spending cycle. Based on your income, it's likely your take home pay is around 225k. I would go so far as to say you can survive on 75k a month, put 75k towards a rainy-day fund, and put 75k towards a future investment. You can start looking at buying land, building, or taking part ownership in a real estate project. An example is this partnership being put together by our own spyder880, an eminent personality in the properties section: https://www.nairaland.com/5611895/buy-unit-residential-flat-us. (3.2Million to buy, or you can pay in installments). I don't have a stake in whether you invest or not; personally, if I had extra funds I would jump on this opportunity, but I'm continuing building out my student solar hostels: https://www.nairaland.com/2583312/building-solar-powered-hostel-learning-experience In other words, take advantage of the fact that you're making bank, and start leveraging your hard work and stress into assets that will work for you. Once you get to a certain stage, yes, you can consider moving into less stressful (even if less paying) positions. I have been in your situation, but I followed advice to suck it up for 5 years, with an eye towards my next move (which hopefully is not just another job). Once you have that goal in mind, you'll realize the stress is worth it. |
This guy is just enriching lawyers in the US... after they chop all that there is to chop, they will clean mouth, and he will still enter cell. What he should be doing is plea bargaining to reduce his sentence, not mounting a defense. |
People relax. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/01/24/in-116th-congress-at-least-13-of-lawmakers-are-immigrants-or-the-children-of-immigrants/ 13% of US lawmakers are immigrants or the children of immigrants. There is no requirement for ministers to be born as Nigerians is there? As long as he is a citizen (naturalized or some other). I mean, according to the same news, we can assume he's lived in Nigeria since the 70s. All we want is good leadership... all the Nigerian-born leaders and ministers we've had... what have they achieved apart from looting and inadequate infrastructure? |
... the hype and fall of Invictus Obi is not letting me appreciate the topic well well... I dey look am one kind... |
Since ignorance is bliss, go and find a different nice lady whose sexual history you don't know. Simple. Since you won't know the new girl's mileage... you'll be at peace ![]() But OP, for all I know you too have mileage, and you will still play away match... so why the double standard? |
RIP Iya Jogbo. Bronchitis or enlarged heart is not a death sentence in most parts of the world. But in this Nigeria... such a shame we have lost yet another to an easily curable and operable illness. We need world class hospitals in this country. God knows we have the doctors - they are saving lives abroad... we just need light and commitment from leaders to fund equipment and maintain. The price to build a hospital of such class is around $60M USD. This is approximately the price of 600 Lexus jeeps at $100,000 after all costs. How many cars did NASS buy this year alone? |
It's nice... enjoy... a version of heaven (they always have pictures of humans and animals in harmony bah?) Tigers, snakes, crocodiles, etc have one day eaten their human "friend". Won't be surprised to see him on the news in the near feature ... the latest victim of being too comfortable around wild animals (captive or not) |
master69:Oh, my existing business paid for the MB ![]() Or was it the dividends from my portfolio...? can't remember ![]() |
new2012:Omo see flogging... forgive him sah, for he is but a small child...

The fear of a lawsuit is the beginning of wisdom. ![]() This kind of action will clear out the noise from clout chasers, so we can deal with genuine accusations. |
Nice one. I was hoping it was an app that would vet potential business partners, so at least you know you're connecting with someone genuine. Sadly it's just another dating app... just with the spin on "Africa". Still a wonderful effort, for sure, and I don't mean to take away from her achievement. Me that doesn't know how to program an app. For me sha Nairaland remains a much better spot to find solid people for business (of course you look at the person's posts, other people's interactions with the person, recommendations, reviews etc). Not to say I've not been disappointed by some people I connected with here, but still there are many real G's on this forum. |
EastGold: Brandstudio01:Why? He is dressed according to his belief. If he was wearing a those, ghutra or kaftan, I doubt anybody would raise an eyebrow. Likewise a button-up shirt, or some other western clothing. However, people are upset because he's choosing to wear according to his own traditions (that's not brainwashed from Europe or Arabia) |
What pains me most is 66 years after the first transistor radio, Nigerians still can't make them. 66 years ago for crying out loud. This is the most simple technology, yet nobody in this forsaken country has bothered, or has been supported to make one. All these years, and we just import import import. Why do we have so many smart people, yet we can't make shiit? I'm not even going to complain much that this is what a governor thought would be good for the people: radios, in 2020. If this was 1970s I'd understand, but really? And of course, each radio cost around 7k, yet our dear officials priced it at 20k. |
The money spent by these protesters on transport to Abuja, lodging, and printing banners... could have started a medium-scale business or two... I'm just saying... |
igboamakaaa:Very very good points, and I agree. I wish we could just dissolve already |
igboamakaaa:Man, this country tire me... after doing all the above without any gov't assistance (including providing water, and often electricity), they want to collect tax from rents. They are already collecting tax in the form of CofO, land use charge (which doubled in 2018), income tax from the rent earned by the landlord, and income tax from the tenant when they earn their salary, so what is this one again? igboamakaaa:Personally, count me in for breaking up the country abeg. Can't wait for Biafra. When I think of the wonderful things happening in Igbo states, I can't help but dream about the great country it can become. Nonetheless, I can't say I agree the the union is the problem... we still have fundamental issues as a people... it's not like our Senators for Anambra or Imo are saints, or we don't have corruption within the state legislature. Also don't forget that the United Kingdom is made of 4 tribes (English, Welsh, Scots, and Irish), and they seem to have figured out how to make a union work. Same as China, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and many other countries with multiple large ethnic groups. |
RIP to the dead. Don't scoop fuel people refuse to hear. It's not like it's a new thing. I'm sure all the people who died have read multiple stories of people who died scooping fuel. Yet they ignored the bitter lessons of others. RIP... there's nothing much to be said... till we all meet again |
Good on ya. I will say: to give ring no hard. To remain supportive and faithful over the years... that's the hard part. Not that in two years, you will be giving bloggers and divorce lawyers food. |
Oga Spyder880, I don't know if you really understand the value you bring to this forum, and to so many of us aspiring builders/owners. A rare gem you are, with clear pictures, detailed explanations, and uncompromising integrity. I've learned so much from you over the past 6+ years and I just wanted to say thanks, as I unfold my mat here to learn some more. |
SenecaTheYonger:That's if MTN shares that info with the bank. The onus is on the previous owner to delink this number. People should do that as a security precaution anyway. But you have a good point... it would be good for these to be done automatically by the bank. |
MegaPlayBoy:You might go to Access and ask them to delink it. But if it was me, I would just destroy it abeg... #300 Naira for a new sim is not worth all the wahala and tfare of going to the bank. Upon that they may not do it right and by accident EFCC will come asking for you. |
This is a welcome change. Lagos drivers just don't know how to use roundabout: - the person turning left will remain in the right lane until the very end - the person who wants to go straight will want to jam into the person turning left - everybody follows bumper to bumper so there's never any space to yield to cars already in the roundabout I just hope the traffic light works and that Lagosians obey, or that yellow fever regulates traffic properly. |
One can't shoot porn in peace again? Oh, I just realized the actors were minors... yeah.. that's a crime. Oh, I now also realize the pictures were of a robbery snatching gang... marking this one false news. |
Normally this is a good thing, but this is not what Nigeria needs right now. Even now, free primary education is not that good. That same budget will now be spread even more thinly. We barely have functioning government universities/polys (which are heavily subsidized). If there is money, please use it for grants or low-interest loans for entrepreneurs - that's what will drive the economy. At any rate, it appears senators are just looking for the next sector to run down as they siphon funds... ![]() |
Operator: "I understand you're very upset right now sir..." Azubuike: "Hey Hey! What are you talking about? Are you an im-becile? Me upset? Did I say she broke my phone? Ehn? I say this ogbanje finished my life... and she took everything from me..." Sad story, but this particular exchange gives one pause. These are the words of a man who has finally snapped after being emasculated for years. Stripped of all the things he suffered for so long to obtain. Ladies and gentlemen, please always be gentle and fair in your dealings with others... you don't want to end up like Chiamaka or other wives (and husbands) who pushed their partner too far. All this could have been avoided if both partners honor themselves and the relationship. It doesn't matter how much money you make, your level of education, whether you build house in village, whether you're the sole breadwinner, or whether you're the one who sponsored your wife... please don't let your pride get the better of you. It doesn't work when either gender overdoes it. |
