Jydology: rescuenaija: rescuenaija:This is business as usual for these foundations, and uncle Reno is barking up the wrong tree. His letter will be put in the cabinet, along with all the others, albeit with a bemused smile from the Americans... he might turn out to be a useful tool in the near future. Anybody who was trying to get rid of GEJ in the 2015 elections was a friend of America and its proxies (esp.) the Mac Aurthur Foundation, and the Ford Foundation. Their role is not to sponsor unbiased journalism, but to further their own agenda, whatever it is at the time. I don't blame anybody for furthering their own interests. This is from the country that supported Saddam, Gadaffi, Pinochet, Babangida, Pinochet, Pol Pot and many other despots. Their support was strictly in their own best interest, not for those who suffered (however "benevolent" the dictator might have been) |
"He wanted the best for the country and its people and worked diligently in his private capacity to advance the course of Nigeria." RIP to him - for we must not speak ill of a man who's no longer with us. However, this has got to be the boldest lie told about most politicians. If every leader who has died actually "wanted the best for the country", we would not be where we are as a country. I only pray as the old guard passes on, the younger set will learn from their mistakes. I'm not too optimistic though... so far they've shown they'd rather contribute N400Million to BBNaija than build factories. |
mastermaestro:Perfect reply from a "child of Christ". Do you really think Jesus would approve of what you said just now? And where is this feeling and name calling coming from? A random person on the Internet said he disagreed with a pastor's choice of words, using scripture to buttress his point. And all you can come up with is name calling. Please try better. ![]() |
Godlovesyou28:What does your birth certificate say? I later went back to see your earlier reply... it has your step mom's name on it... I think suing your dad will make things worse. Besides, there's no crime (legal) in not informing a child of her mother, and I can't imagine a judge sentencing him if your father simply says: "I don't recall her name"... You need to go on being delicate about it. Stay strong, and keep probing gently. |
My dear Nigerian youths - in only three months - you will spend over 400Million Naira on this show on votes, gifts, and subscription. 85M will go to the winner; some will be from fans buying cars, phones and other gifts for their contestant; the rest to the show organizers. Youths, after contributing your N400M to a game, please don't complain and tell us there are no jobs or country is hard, or there is no drinking water in your community, or that our leaders have failed. Do you know how many large factories can be started with N400M? This is just in 3 months. Consider what you're capable of and don't just pour it down the drain. The current leaders took power when they were in their 20s and 30s. Let that sink in. |
Is that a covered drain? Chineke be praised. At least people won't enter open ditch at night or during heavy rains Just hope my people won't fill it with trash sha ![]() |
Fearcom:Matthew 23:9 “But you are not to be called ‘rabbi,’ for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called ‘masters,’ for you have one master, the Christ” (Matt. 23:8–10). Brother in Christ, perhaps, but not spiritual father; that's my point. In Christ we are all the same, but humans have once again raised preachers to level of demi-god, which in itself is a dangerous departure from fellowship under one Father. That people are not complaining does not mean it is right. Christ's words alone are my source of truth. Any other has to give way to his words, no matter if it was by Paul or Moses. |
mastermaestro:Perfect attitude from a "child of Christ". Do you really think Jesus would approve of what you said just now? |
Jamessly:You're quoting a book from before the new Covenant with Christ. Nothing there applies to the New Covenant that brings salvation if only you believe in Christ's death and resurrection. The teachings of Jesus,(John 1:16-17, Acts 13:39, Romans 2:25-29, 8:1-4, 1 Corinthians 9:19-21, Galatians 2:15-16, Ephesians 2:15) make it clear that Christians are not required to follow the Old Testament rules about crimes and punishments, warfare, slavery, diet, circumcision, tithes, animal sacrifices, feast days, Sabbath observance, ritual cleanness, etc. The only requirement is that you believe in him. Nothing else is required - not animal sacrifices, not tithing, not rituals, not singing, not charity, not even prayer per se. The remaining good behaviors will stem from your belief in him. |
What is this one saying self....?
I was referring to his frequent declarations that "anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven", or "pay Your Tithes To Avoid Divine Curses" - Pastor Adeboye Tells His Members Jesus never threatened damnation for not tithing, and he would understand that times are tough. He would recommend giving to the needy at this time. I realize that the Church does help the needy now and then, but the vast majority of the funds go to the pastor. For a pastor to do chide people for not tithing in these trying times, is not very Christian-like in my opinion; for a Christian to insult and throw stones at somebody for having a different opinion... can't say that's Christian-like either. |
With all due respect, nobody is your child, Pastor. They are God's children, not yours... and threatening God's children with damnation for not paying tithes is not very becoming of a real pastor, I'm sorry to say. Times are hard for people, and your only recommendation is to condemn them? This is the time Church should be giving to its congregation. If you still feel like you can afford to tithe, then do so. And note, dear Christians - who by definition are not under the Covenant with Abraham, nor with Moses, but instead with Christ (Rom. 6:14–15), etc: Jesus never once required you to tithe; the only reference to such was when he was chastising those who tithe but neglect other parts of the old, Mosaic Covenant. "These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others". But he came and washed the old ways away. He does recommend giving generously (to the needy, and to help those who preach), but He did not say tithing was a requirement for salvation, or not doing so was damnation. Do not let a pastor threaten you - like a mob boss - to fund his jet and expensive suits. Jesus also never required you to sacrifice animals, even though it was the practice by his people before He came, yet no Christian in their right mind would condemn you to hell if you don't bring a sheep or cow. Why be tied to old Covenants that don't define Christianity? |
TheBlessedHero:These examples are not "accidental wealth". These people worked extremely hard, were lucky to be at the right place at the right time, and know the value of money. Those people don't just lose their money... their kids might (because they don't have the same drive and didn't work for the money), but the point is that the person who earned their wealth, does not lose it by being flamboyant. |
It's a shame he had to resort to crime. I'm also doubly annoyed that these types of grass-to-grace people never stop to think: "OK I don chop small, let me share some of the wealth and build a factory in the slum... even if na bag factory, to help raise my people out of poverty". I think "HushPuppi Bags" could have been an excellent brand. Instead it's only "living my best life" posing with stolen funds. ![]() Ah well, he lived his best life, and now he gets to balance it out with 20 years in American jail - which frankly is better than most slums. |

Amanda4life:Dangote has done more good for our continent than generations of failed leaders. Poor people don't build factories, nor do they give other poor people jobs. Rich people do, and get paid for their contribution to society. What we want is the opportunity for a poor person today - to make a living, accumulate experience, gather capital, and establish their own factory down the line. I feel for those who's children are being killed by BH, but without people like Dangoter using their talents to build wealth (and in the process benefit society), may African countries would forever be totally dependent on foreign countries for cement, petrol, tomato, plastics, etc... |
GboyegaD:The competition is choosing to buy private jets, buy real estate in Dubai, US, UK, and spend money on flying babes in from Columbia. That they decided not to build a fertilizer plant is nobody's fault but theirs. All those big boys and girls with jets... they too have government connections, so what are we talking. |
This is a good development, and I'm happier it's not in Onitsha or Akwa or even Nnewi (which would benefit from proximity to an airport). This way development can be brought to different parts of the state. This will encourage development of homes, businesses, hotels, etc around that axis - which provides jobs and other opportunities. People are free to choose whichever airport they want to use and that is nothing but good news. What we really need is for these airports to be truly international - especially to China and other parts of Asia, so people don't have to sojourn through Lagos or Abuja for trade, visiting factories, etc.. I also wish that a courier service would be able to fly in and out daily from these airports. |
OP, I'd be happy to make your decision a lot easier... please send me the contact details of the second one ![]() |
Not sure how boycotting an election helps women... in fact it means they lose their chance to vote out the people they don't like. If you don't vote, those who do get to decide. |
No matter the source... if you hear "give me money and I will double it", just ignore. But then again, in this world where our people do 10k giveaway to "the next 10 followers"... what can you expect. Correct scam jare. Only greedy people will be scammed. |
What are they investigating? The maltreatment or that the seaman dared to say something? ![]() |
viviangist:I so hate these kind of holier-than-thou comments... perhaps you'd also have hated these commercials for showing ladies in bathtubs (one is from early 80's), though I suspect you chose the word "disgraced" to entice people to click it. Also fast forward to 4:15 in the first movie to see the classic lux commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xlcP_upamU?t=255 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObwlYvX_7K0 Nothing do you Mama-J. "food is ready, food is ready"... after insulting China for eating all kinds of things that cause viruses to jump to humans, those same people are here roasting all sorts of things here in the name of pepper soup. No wahala... the virus that will hit Nigeria is still doing pressup. |
Magu this and Magu that... all are a distraction from the fact that this was Buhari's pick, and Buhari insisted on keeping him in acting capacity despite objections from NASS and other. All Magu did was with the tacit approval of his boss, so nobody should come and be telling me what we already know. ![]() 1StopRudeness:Wise words... |
I hope he is prepared for a visit from the usual gov't agencies They like these kinds of complaints... watery beans and mosquitoes loading ![]() |
I hope Nigerian youths realize that they are the ones contributing and sending money for these shows? Apart from some sponsorship, the bulk of that N85M (and the extra N100M or more profit for the show organizers) is coming from your pocket? Not to talk of all the DSTV subscriptions. This starts looking like real money... the type that can build factories to hire youths, or sponsor a presidential candidate that will work for betterment of youths. Youths should stop complaining about "bad leaders" and look inwards at themselves for misplaced priorities. |
Obingene:...because the girls that don't post their business online are the holy ones bah? The truth is nobody is 100%... even the groom. If he finds his ms holy holy... you're telling me he will never play away match for the rest of his marriage? Let us hear word. |
BlackNeo:Indeed she is... but it's her mom we should be applauding... she's the brains behind this union, who foresaw that Ned likes flowers, and that she and her daughter will not perish in obscurity. ![]() No be beans oh... this guy's family alone is a small village. |
He should go. I was assuming he already had the job. If that's the case then, after tax, he should have 70% left ($84k). If he is wise he should: 1. contribute fully to a retirement plan (e.g. 401k), up to the $19kmax pre-tax, and usually employer will add in up to 4% 2. save half remainder salary every year. $32k. This can buy/build property in Naija after his first year abroad, which he can rent out. 3. live frugally. Do not start living like other middle class Americans - that leads to perpetual wage slavery 4. buy a good used car, like a Camry, not more than $4k in cash. Let your friends laugh at you. You're buying US stocks and Nigeria real estate. 5. don't flex girl. 6. ideally, stay there for 4-5 years with an eye to settle back home. Your investments will be earning for you even if you have no job in Naija. 7. only when you're back in Nigeria should you start a family. Wife and kids in US will wipe out all your earnings. 8. I say don't flex girl. You're not there to fall in love and spend 20 years of your life living to feed others. |
I hope US won't complain when China becomes a bigger player on the world stage. US is willingly withdrawing from the world, and China is happily stepping in. Time to start brushing up on my 中文, Zhōngwén ![]() |
ollins:OP, based on the little I know, I can say this solution is salvageable, if you want it. It appears you just despise her because of her education, and that it's affecting your romantic feelings towards her. I know many loud and loquacious women who "went to uni or poly", so... you're welcome to try your luck with an "educated babe". Or you can send her to school, or hire private tutors, to bring her up to some level. It might be tough and embarrassing for her, but it's possible, and has been done by others before you. There are also "finishing schools" that teach etiquette in Nigeria, if you can convince her (nicely) that it's something that would be good for both of you. You can look for "an educated babe" to tutor her privately (of course you should pay the person). You say have no interest in each other - what have you done to rekindle the interest? You're mentioning something many couples go through anyway, and level of education, profession, loud, has nothing to do with it. Basically, unless she is fundamentally a bad person, all the things you've mentioned are fixable. You just have to work on it. Many a man divorced their wife only to jump from frying pan into fire. |
