You can infer from the famous line I used to hear. "Relationships only work when one of the parties accepts to be trodden over." |
Hmm. Food for thought. |
Guys, when indicating stations its important to state where they are located. For instance even within Brilla network stations the quality of presenters and presenting varies. I consider Frank (Big ID) in Abuja to be the best anchor (better than George Essien) but Brilla Lagos has more depth. I particularly enjoy Overdose in the ring most mornings. To me Brilla still has it. |
Adanyebe: MY INBOXAnd then.... Yawns, rubs eyes. "Damn cockerel. Where my lantern nau". |
chuckdee4: How can driving with fake number plates attract a smaller sentence than riding a bike without a helmetBecause brain surgeons earn a lot, I mean a lot more than traffic cops. |
When athletes suddenly start posting unusually good results and performances I sometimes cannot help but think. The result of Blessing's last race. Hmmm. |
jmaine: Where is the space to even plant a treeMy exact thoughts. At least 3 million households living back to back in the main. No where to park cars, no where to locate generators. Is it trees people will plant. Any available private space will probably be built over by greedy lanlords at the bequest of the increasing populace. Poverty does wonders for the environment. |
Okey Hokay dun it. |
Ask a junkie in rehab. |
sharubutu: Which people vote 4 pdp sef? Are they really from Edo state? abi dem dey craze? No, they are people expressing their franchise. Or do you want a total vote for one party and create the very fiefdom we are running away from. The moment Guv. Adams senses total power, he immediately signs up for dictatorship and you lose power. In democracy you need your enemies to keep you on track. Politics 101. |
ypzilanti: Compared to Obasanjo GEJ is a saint in the matter of presidential inteference in elections. This was one of the shameful legacies of OBJ in connivance with Maurice IWU.Partly right. But I disagree on the fact that change only comes top - down. If it does surely you must credit Mr. President for Edo. If you say GEJ should make INEC independent and in another breath claim civil society are drivers of change, you've got your knickers in a twist. Who exactly are you blaming and who exactly are you congratulating. My take on this democratic thing is that change is people driven, geared through their elected representatives and steered by the executive. If for instance GEJ did not promise to give INEC total independence and you want it, go to those who are custodians of the constitution and Nigerian laws so as to determine who gets credit when things go well. |
i believe that 2015 would be very interesting. Nigerians now know their rights and are more politically savvy and informed. Edo state win will be very inspirational for people to come out, vote and guard their votes. my prayer is that God will give us the grace to vote wisely and not based on sentiments or intresting and nice advertising radio jingles,tv adverts or silly slogans. it is well! God bless Nigeria.
A real and unbiased democrat won't talk like this. In true democracy even the best man doesn't necessarily win. What wins is the perspective of the vast majority of people. If not you risk attributing the failure of Nigeria to certain individuals rather than collectively. Afterall the same Edo people voted Lucky for two terms. NFFDB. |
Mandelaguy: After tragedies, controversies, accusations and counter accusations,Edo state has decided. Adams won because the president gave him protection to allow transperancy......how do you view the whole process? Eye witness account will be appreciated.I was not there and do agree with you that it was a success and that indeed democracy has grown and improved under the dispensation of President GEJ but of more importance is the fact that Nigerians as a whole are opportuned and are embracing change. This I think is more important. As I reserve my blame for collective failings so I reserve my praise for collective successes. This is because much as we find it difficult to understand, GEJ is not the custodian of democracy in Nigeria as Obama isn't in the US. Democracy is and should be warehoused, institutionalised, protected from individuals at all times by every stakeholder. So though he has an important part to play, he alone could not have done it without everyone else. I mean Oxford and Cambridge are great institutions of learning but what makes it so. No one.... but everyone who has been associated with it at all levels over the generations. |
automaticgate: Edo People has finally Decided...Indeed. The more people realise just how powerful their mandate can be, the more positive changes we will begin to see. Other states held under bondage to certain men, parties or interests should take note and wake up. |
Congratulations to everyone who made the wishes and mandate of the vast majority of the peoples of Edo state possible. As long as democracy works there, the people will experience development having realised power truly belongs to them. Remember. Respect and nuture your institutions and they will support you in all adversaries. |
honeric01: You are a goat, read through my comparison to understand why i used igbo as a case study in this issue.I tell you. If this situation is not addressed properly it can undermine the entire country. Just stir up trouble and get foreigners out. What is left in most cases is a wasted economy because it is impossible for and indigenous population to properly develop on its own. I hope we won't degenerate to having internal passports and requiring visas to travel, live and conducting business in various parts of Nigeria. Our political institutions should get to the bottom of this slide before it becomes a full blown avalanche. Its not as simplistic as seperating two fighters but removing the premise for such conflicts. |
From where does the STF get the authority to displace people. I think this is another proof of the weakness or immaturity of our political institutions and their level of development especially when compared to the military. I repeat again. These problems (including the BH insurgency) have no military/security solutions on the long term. It is the responsibility of the polity to solve this problem by collective dialogue. And there is no better institution to handle these matter other than the National Assembly. The root of the problem is the indigene status of settlers viz their rights and obligations, a problem that is common throughout Nigeria. Today it is the Berom/Fulani. Tommorrow it could be another grouping. Will the military be put back in power by its own way of doing things. Politicians wake up. They should begin to build the tools for dealing with these smoking embers before they erupt. That is their job. |
adekennis: Why d 200 ontop d bribe moneyVAT or Insurance fees. |
Piyke: All this bombing is killing what little tourism we have left. So much for NSA's dialogueI said it. This matter has no military solution. |
And then when you come in to land at Abuja and the light goes out, you may be lucky not to be diverted to Lagos. Or in more serious scenarios experience a near miss incident with patrol vehicles, construction equipment or a herd of cattle as some foreign airlines have reported over the years. |
Not politicians hugging the headlines this time but perhaps in another fifteen to twenty years we will be asked to vote one of these to high office. The difference between bread and cake is primarily in the dough. Anyway, when we get sick and tired of corruption. When the cost - benefit ratio reverses, then and only then will we take the steps to rid our society. Right now in our history, crime does pay. |
moneyquest: This Nairaland is just a huge joke! So you can actually paste someone's picture on this website without her permission, make caricatures of it, and yet get an accolade of front page recognition for doing so? What an offensive thing to do, in my opinion? No, its called Freedom of Expression. |
2buff: Because Nigerian credit cards and destination shipping are still not globally accepted yet on the Internet since their revocation years back.Couldn't have said it better. We wallow in the hurt we create for ourselves. |
dayokanu: Age is just a number it doesnt countHmm. Divide their ages by 3 and this woman is a confirmed pedo. |
All the gals in the house in one chorus singing 'Age is just a number, age is just a numberr, age is just a numberrrr....'. My man, age is more than just a number. There is a reason Adam was created before Eve. Research and apply please before you live a life of unnecessary stress. Wisdom is profitable to direct, church man. |
When it comes to money, the average Nigerian is a buccaneer. It is not when they get to political office they begin to take what doesn't belong to them. |
TroGunn: Nice one. And people, a little positivity won't kill you. The minimum wage was implemented by FG, only state govts messing around with it. Also local content bill is really helping Nigerian companies in the oil and gas industry- insiders know this, though not perfect but better than before.Couldn't have said it better. Particularly like the roads thing. Every road lies with a state boundary. The Federal government should not be doing roads but through a regulatory agency ensure proper standards and guarantee connectivity. |
This is unfortunate. Really demeaning. They should withdraw it and apologise to the Presidency. |
The system remains on life support. There's still a long way to go. |
Sorry o, I dont quite understand this part ?
Refineries buy crude just as flour mills buy wheat. |
manny4life: Why are you guys attacking Mmuo_Okija?Good observation. I hope they hear. |
Musiwa2: i dont think cassava bread is a smart move. i think, they should help local farmer grow wheat.. that way it become an export earner for the nation. We've been trying to cultivate wheat for years but our climate and other factors stand against it. Why not maximise a commodity for which we have a comparative advantage. Smart move. We are world leaders in cassava output and you won't see for instant, the Thai's bickering over wheat imports when they have rice. Moreover with agric remaining the prime employer, putting more cash into the hands of farmers is the only way to stemming poverty. I think its time to look inwards and support producers instead of traders. The years of cement import bans has yielded results with the establishment of several plants employing thousands. Soon prices will begin to fall. Folks, lets encourage our own. The prosperity of our fellow country men is our security. Every country facing challenges is looking inwards. Its a good move and Customs willing it will succeed. Sorry, but diabetics know processed flour and its popular products is the number one cause of that ailment especially when combined with sedentary lifestyles like bickering on NL all day long. |
