BluntBoy:
Eyah, sorry, my dear.

But then, you people are not doing the right thing by keeping grudges against your father. Even if your brothers want to remain stubborn, you as a woman should try to reach out to the old man and reunite the family. This does not necessarily mean reuniting him with your mother.

Learn to forgive. I can still see the bitterness in you. This is not good energy to raise your own family with. Let it go and enjoy life. Life is too short to carry so much bitterness around.

If I were your husband, that would be one of my ambitions. To reunite you with your father. The man failed to treat your mother well, but could one say he failed totally? No one is perfect. We all make mistakes.

Please, forgive your father and reach out to him.
You as a woman..lol. I expected it.
People always make that assertion.
After all, a woman is a fool,an idiot who has no sense and she is expected to be stu.pid

The day I forgive that man will be the death of me.
Apart from treating our mother badly,Man was cruel to us ,his children.

My husband has more important issues to work on.
He definitely knows how to mind his business except he doesn't want peace.

My father...Hmmmm.He will continue to be miserable, die miserably and be buried like a lizard.
Anybody who preaches forgiveness and reconciliation with that devil incarnate will see no good thing.

Are you just arguing or have you never met children who despise their fathers for such reasons?

Many men don't receive gifts from their grown children probably because they've forgotten how many times they descended on their wives in the presence of their children, but the children never forgot. You think child support will win over the child when they are grown? Because you spent money on them? You won't even have a relationship, you'll just be a money bag, like most men are because they look down on women. You need to learn more about parenting and not just thinking that it's a war on women. What makes you feel you deserve the children more than her?

On nairaland too many of us exhibit misogyny and not realism. You hate women, fine. You think nothing of them, fine. What makes you think women like us, either? Apart from semen donation, what do you think you add to their lives?

I noticed that it's only poor men who have issues with their wives/women. A man who cannot handle one woman cannot handle any other number he chooses to be with.
You have said it all.
My father is a typical example.
It was always about "money,money,money".
I'm feeding you.
Paying school fees,clothing you..etc.
No relationship, no link..Nothing...

By the time we all became adults and left home, reality dawned on him.
Soon after I got married,my mother divorced him.
I and my siblings got her a decent accomodation and set her up.
The last time I saw or spoke to him was my wedding day, over a year ago.
I doubt any of my 4 brothers have visited or said a word to him.

He probably has forgotten the many days and nights he stripped naked our mother, beat her up,called her news.
He has forgotten all the abuse ...
But we have not.
Its still very clear.
The resentment and bitterness I feel towards him is second to none.
The mere thoughts of him nauseates me

Men don't learn...They lose at the end.

In your own case you probarbly saw what you wanted to see and thought what you wanted about your father, you would probarbly have still hated him regardless of whatever he did good or bad, your love for your mother probarbly clouded your judgement, so as not to see how your father was hurt by your mother maybe.

well... atleast you learned something out of it, to make your own money and buy your own things.

Good luck! grin
You can conclude what you like.
You don't know me or my story. I can only say that your daughter, sister or any female you cherish doesn't become unfortunate to be around a man like my father..
He failed(as a father and a husband) and is regretting it now.
But its too late.

And Yes! Nothing gives me peace and joy as buying my own stuff.
I wonder why gifts from a lover freaks women.
The first time I got a gift from a lover,I turned it down.He pressurized me to accept it.
It was a new phone..An android.
I was using a Nokia Asha 200 which was giving me problems.
I did not feel very comfortable using the new phoneit wasn't just mine.
So I kept it aside, continued with my Asha...Until 2 months later,I got a new phone..An android but cheaper than the gift.
It was a long distance relationship kinda..
So he didn't know I wasn't using his phone.

It wasn't long,we had an altercation and he said ...Despite buying a phone for you,you should be grateful...I smiled.
Some months after,he hit me because I couldn't answer his call as I was in class..didn't know he was already in my hostel waiting for me.
When I returned the call,he didn't pick..Got back to hostel, met him and he pounced on me in the presence of my colleagues.
I called off the relationship and next thing was "Let me have my phone back.Gimme my phone"...
I was expecting it.
I handed over his phone as new as it came over 3 months earlier...He was shocked and refused to accept it.
Lol...
I told him I didn't use it because of a day like this.
He took back his phone and that ended it.

I don't get carried away by gifts.
Because I know there is a thin line between love and hate.
I also learnt from my parents.
Anything I didn't buy with my money is not mine and I cannot get too comfortable using that thing.
FamilyRe: Man Storms His Ex-wife’s House To Retrieve The Car He Bought Her(Video) by spiceadole(f): 11:03am On Aug 06, 2019
Typical of what my father would do.
I was a teenager when I vowed I will work hard and be able to afford stuff I need without a man.
When I saw the way my father quickly collected things he bought for my mum whenever they had any quarrel.
At the slightest thing,he would seize her phone, stop her from driving his car, stop her from eating even after giving her money to cook..He would carry her food with the plate and dispose in the waste bin.
The one that broke the horses back was when he set her box of clothes on fire..because he bought the clothes.

My parents marriage was painful to witness
But I learnt a very important lesson.
Thank God for me today.
Car that I bought as a spinster..A man is going to beat up his ex wife and collect a car of 2 years...
Women, please leave what society says and work hard.
Make money and be contented with what you can afford.
Personally,Gifts never freak me.
I believe anything I didn't buy by myself can be collected from me tomorrow.

Why rape?
Many Nigerian women are crazy about uniformed men.
When I worked with the Air force as a civilian staff, female Corp members, civilians in and outside the base were throwing themselves on the soldiers, even fighting one another because of soldier's preeq.
You could point at the ladies who had nothing to do with these soldiers...And we were seen as weird.
My disgust for uniformed men(military and paramilitary) remains till date

I could've posted in the job section but I was denied access.

Pls people I had to open a new account to avoid some things, I am working in a bank as PA to the state area manager, they started me with 11k march 2018 with promise of increase but till today I'm still earning 11k, pls note the 11k don't even take me through the month and basically not a single savings since I started.

Pls nairalanders should I quit this draining job or should I continue?
Note I don't have any other thing to do for now but I think I'm hustling backward.

Pls I need ur candid advise here cos I'm so confused
You call this slavery a job?

As a lady, the least I ever earned was 90K and that was during my service year.Yet it was barely enough.

I wonder what the mother of these kids that are molested by these evil fathers are doing still living with such men..
Spirit of lust has taken over the men, all of them, mothers guard your children, find something doing so when he start showing it, run away with ur children!!!
The reasons are
1.What will people(society) say?
2.Lack of good financial standing to survive alone

I had a patient(a 3 year old girl) whose father was sexually abusing..By poking his fingers in her private part, forcing her to svck his joystick.
When we decided to involve the social unit and take up the case,it was the mother who refused.
Said she wasn't ready to lose her marriage, hence she will send the little girl to go live in the village with her grandmother.
That girl was her first child.
She was nursing a baby boy.
Women will do anything to stay in a marriage.
That is what society expects
CrimeRe: Father Bags 21 Years For Raping Late Daughter by spiceadole(f): 7:45pm On Aug 01, 2019
When we tell them that a man's joystick has no conscience, they will start arguing.
Where is that matured lady who took offense because her mother asked her to stop sitting on her father's lap?
Come and read.
Nigerian fathers are becoming more irresponsible, not only in refusal/inability to provide for their families..They have extended their promiscuity to their blood daughters.

Mothers,Be very vigilant .
Advise your daughters.
No man should be trusted.
Every man is a suspect including their biological fathers

After the Minister of Health, who is a medical doctor, said doctors are too many in Nigeria.
A time willbcome,Nigerians will go to hospital and there will be no doctor to attend to them

All roads lead to UK,Canada,US,Australia and other sane climes.

They will say NO.
And start telling you how marriage comes with blessings.
How God will provide for their children.

Next thing, they are sending their children to go live with relatives or even strangers as maids.
