Lol.

First spot the fear mongering I have in my posts. If they arent true...we will know.

Second, you will show me that you are in the UK ooooo. If you dont, you are just an unreasonable fellow.

Third, you will mention the reason why even you make $1,000 in naija as tech giu, you must leave. If you dont know then, you are a complete confusionist.

I see that the only part you picked from my post is what you are talking about. But make sure you return yo my initial posts to understand my point.

So, just stop that useless talk.

I want to really know you are in the UK and into Tech. This is the main issue. If you dont show it, just the crap up. Ok? Cos you are really annoying me now.

And if you want...and let's do it..you will see my loaddown info. I am not your mate. Ok? Dont dear me. You these kids. What the crap are you doing in the UK? Washing dead bodies? You better return to Naija. You dey UK and you are in Tech, and you are saying rubbish here. You better clear off my mention. I dont doubt you are in the UK...but you are not into tech. Na dead body you dey wash.

I dont have your time at all.

Simeone who jumped into the middle of discussion without knowing the full details. You arent into Tech. Stop forming rubbish!!!
Listen, I don't have any thing to prove to you. Are you not LogoBenz aka nwanemm? Why should I prove anything to a clout chaser.

The other time you were arguing endlessly on the Family thread, i was just looking at you. Go and check all my posts, a lot of people know me offline in this forum, you are not that important that I would prove anything to you.

Where did I post 1.5m isnt a lot of money? But £4,000 after tax is a lot more.

But them, go read my initial post. This is a useless thread. If you are into tech you will know. I dont have time for you and your debate.

Goodluck!
I am into Tech & I'm in the UK, you are obviously saddled with passion that Nigeria is terrible, and I am not arguing that Nigeria isn't but the actual fact is that you still live there and you are not dead yet, your families are also still alive, so why the fear mongering?.

If you don't leave in the UK, don't say this shit outside.
I live in a 2bedroom flat here, my rent and all bills inclusive is not more than £1000 monthly.
You can't spend more than £350 a month no matter wat you are eating.
So he has more than £2500 as savings which is more than the #1.5m he earns monthly in Nigeria.
Abi na better Healthcare and environment.
Don't be fooles by the rubbish ppl say about tax and bills in the UK
Dude, Where do you live? Please state exactly where you live in UK.

Most big tech jobs that sponsor workers are in London & I am very optimistic that OP job would be in London as well. A proper house self contain is £1000 in London and above excluding any bills. Nobody will give you 2 Bedroom flat in London for £1000, shey you wan thief am? Even with Juju, you no go see am.

When you people are talking, please make sure you add accurate details.

Where do you easily find 10million naira monthly. You just want to make sure you win.

Oga, stay in naija na. Who dey force you? By the time Boko Haram removes you...you will know. Bandits are around too. I cant even talk further. Stay in naija if you want. You never get 200k job, you are talking of 10million naija in naija. Just to keep debating.

No matter the amount you get today, if you are into Tech....move. no one will ever dispute that. You arent into Tech. So, stop arguing blindly. You are into something which you know is not meaningful as soon as you leave naija. If you get 10 million naira monthly in naija which I dont doubt, you know you are into fraud or corruption. So, stop your rubbish thing.

We are talking about ppl who are legit, not you corrupt govt officials.
Hello, can you please stop with the scaremongering. I think it's quite distasteful at this point. We all have families in Nigeria & they are not kidnapped or raped yet, we have lived in Nigeria all our lives and not died yet. People go back home in December & still spend time with their families. Container hasn't fallen on anyone I know personally, even though It happens quite often.

Nobody is discouraging anyone from travelling, people should take that personal decison by themselves based on what they want in life.

1.5M in Nigeria is a lot of money, especially if you aren't living in Lagos. People are getting jobs in Nigeria amidst the unempoyment problems, so not every one is jobless and cannot get a 200k job.

Nobody I know has encountered Boko Haram, my family lives in the South & it is peaceful.

It is very possible to earn £60,000 per year doing tech jobs. There are people that earn £1,000/day.

The question is out of the multitude of job seekers in the UK and US, why would employers employ someone based in Nigeria to do a tech job based in the UK/US? There are work visa issues to sort out, how does the person pay tax? Which bank account do they receive the salary in e.t.c. Maybe they are consultants working independently and not employees. Or they could be be employed locally to work in Nigerian subsidiaries but payed in foreign currency. Or they have some very specialist skills. What kind of tech roles are they in?

At the end of the day na still demsay unless you have seen the money go into their account with your own eyes.
They are simply contract employees.

People hire consultants or contracts from UK and US to work on long term projects, but this isn't a full time role & there are no work visas granted. You are a remote onsultant and that's it.

This is what Andela does full time & I know for sure.

Liar

Now I know why people are suspicious of stories on Nairaland. No one will make an after tax offer to you in the UK. You either pay through PAYE or you sort out your own tax outside IR35. In both cases your offer will be your gross annual salary.

Tell me I am a hater but no one is offering you a £90,000/year job in the UK from Nigeria simply because you are 'tech bro', Whatever dafuq that mean. I dont care if you can write perfect API code straight from sleep or you are a developer, SDET, BA, Architect, PM all rolled in one.
Lmao, the fact that you actually calculated the tax is funny. People don't usually check for facts. Perhaps maybe he has checked his Net Income and found exactly how much his money would be, I really can't say.

£90,000 a year is a lot sha, you have to be working as Staff Software Engineer in UK to earn that.

@Xbolmax, personal opinion to your question.

1. Yes you can become a front-end dev before the year runs out.
2. Yes you can.
3. What you need is an internship role afterwards, you need to solidify your skills in a real environment.

Finally depending on your love for it, it can take you more time or less time to achieve. Try and get a mentor or just join the slack channel advertised on this thread.

Don't learn too many things at once. Focus on only one frontend framework and learn it, thats all.

In Tech, once you are good, you are good. Nobody cares whether you are a man, woman or hermaphrodite.

For me I discovered its among the few careers were hard work and dedication still pay in the modern world.

Secondly your programming level/skill can be easily seen and rated, unlike other fields were every one go dey claim say de sabi, bu in reality na d opposite. Their is no room for argument.

Thirdly there is no hiding in this field, if u no sabi you will be exposed, etc. You cant hide behind any body.

Its not like other fields were some will go to club, drink and Bleep and still be better than the hard working ones. You you get?

Its 100% garbage in garbage out. One of the most honest professions.

Recruitment are 100% based on your proven abilities, not like other fields. No serious company go employ who no sabi, even if they do they will easily notice and fire d person

In summery i became a programmer because hard work pays here. As a hard worker I believe I a in the right place.
This is actually something to worry about, hard work pays in this industry.

(1) 2 are older than my father so I rejected when they came..one that is just about 8 years older than me was just acting like my boss..he has houses and cars all over Nigeria so for that I should take what ever he throws at me including carrying different girls so I left..

(2) Now to what I have endured..wasted many years with a guy and he left me to marry someone else because of state.

(3) This other came and I waited for him then his demon started, started telling me of how he wanted to marry a wild person that can fight his sister and mother because he was having issues with them..

(4) Now ikechukwu that I thought was different, didn't give me any issue for the 7 months that I waited for you when it was just 2 days for to came back for us to get married as you suggested you disappeared without a word..Oga I turned down a childhood friend that came back because I couldn't disappoint you..I am too faithful and that needs to change..why wouldn't my conceince allow me cheat, isn't that what most people do these days?no conceince,no principles,no morals..nothing..the one he wanted a wild lady for a wife came back and started saying how sorry he is,how he has gone round and I'm the best, how he boasts to his friends about me and all that I represented in his life..ikechukwu I told you this,I sent you the audio and assured you that I can never leave you and go back to him because you haven't offended me in any way..you gave me peace..

I'm 36 now and one would think it's because of bad character that I'm still single but like they always tell me,good people aren't always lucky when it comes to relationship..I just wish I can reach you just one more time so I can tell you a big thank you for what you did to me..you only taught me one thing, that being faithful to one man doesn't pay...if you can see this ikechukwu..thank you very much.
Okay, pardon me but let's just do some analysis here.

If my assumption is correct, it seems you were already 35 before ikechukwu met you as you spent only 7 months dating him, so in your early years from 20 to 35 which is 15 years in total, you made other wrong decisions. ikechukwu whom you only spent 7 months with shouldn't be blamed too much. You can't dump 15 years of mistake on ikechukwu. Please swallow your pride & call that childhood friend of yours to check up on him, people link up with their exes all the time.

The reality is that If you are looking for a solution to an issue at the late hour, social media & churches can fool you but above 35 struggle to get partners they really want. I hope you have made some good money within the time you were single, It makes no sense if you are older, broke & lonely simultaneously.

If you are good looking & willing to date down, you will surely find a man at 36, Nigerians are struggling & you will surely find a good looking man albiet below your financial status, that's me assuming you are very financially stable.

Dating multiple men can work but you might end up being used by all of them, best time to do this was in your early 20s. They call it hoe phase, where you can date about 5 guys at the same time & no issues. Not at 36 where every one has moved past that behaviour.

Am sorry for taking much of ur tym with unnecessary questions but pls try to help out
Start with this course: udacity.com/course/intro-to-programming-nanodegree--nd000 to get a teacher to explain things to you.

Then you go to w3schools.com/js/default.asp to help you occassionally with learning Javascript.

Alternatively you go to w3schools.com/python/default.asp for learning Python.

so far, w3schools.com is the easiet path to learning programming any where in the World for beginners.

Madame you can take quality advise from experienced people who are in the field already here, BUT don't be discouraged by anyone who brings up the issue of passion or whether you are good at sciences or not.

Passion can grow and it can evolve overtime, with hard work and dedication It can work. This isn't motivation, this is a fact.

The reward for Nursing is really high, you have nothing to lose if you dedicate 3 years plus to it with the help of your family & other support system, I stand to be corrected but there are 2 Careers that top the earning chart now, It is Nursing & Tech globallly. Especially women who end up becoming Registered Nurse outside of Nigeria.

I left networking for cloud and I have never regretted my decision. Networking is hard to learn and you can't be an experienced network engineer sitting in your home. They are very underrated, underpaid and unappreciated. I called it quit after I got to the peak of my networking career with my CCNP R&S cert, companies still offered me 200k with all the sufferings and years of experience.

My advice? Go for flutter programming and leave networking
This is sad to be earning that figure at your senior level, a Flutter developer will probably earn that same 200k as a beginner.

At the end of the day you have to stick with the one that you can cope with, faboulous future or not.

Although If you are looking to escape poverty in easier fashion, I would encourage you to shun that teacher of yours and go to Udacity to learn Flutter from scratch. It is free, As long as you have a roof over your head & your parents are giving you 3 square meals, It means you have no instant responsibility hence you can learn for 3 months straight with no distractions.

Network field or career doesn't pay that well especially for Begineer to Mid-level, money you can make in one month writing Flutter as a Beginner, in 6 months you'd be lucky to get it with networking on that same beginner level.

The choice is yours oh.

FamilyRe: Pursue My Career Or JAPA by tosinhtml:
Poster your issue is very simple.

You are currently in Nigeria and since you plan to stay in Nigeria for 2/3 years, It means you still have time.

I'd advise you to take steps in these particular order

1. This time you have should be used to focus on your job, build your CV and professional certificates, if your career requires any.

2. During this time, you should save your money.

3. Marry your wife in Nigeria within this 2/3 years, don't suspend your marriage plans, carry her along.

4. If you decide to travel for your studies, make her the primary applicant for the study VISA and you become the dependent. It means you should have every right to work. Dependents are permitted to work in Canada. They need to have an Open Work Permit for this. It will allow them to work full-time anywhere in Canada without any curbs. This should be easy.

5. If you choose to go with the PR route, that is fine as well. For PR route your age will work against you in next 2/3 years at 30, so might still need your wife to be the primary applicant.

6. Don't travel any where without your wife, It is going to be a fruitless venture. I promise you. Canada is cold and lonely, forget about the noise on Nairaland.

7. Ignore those saying you should learn coding. Please Ignore them. Coding isn't the only way to earn good money and it isn't for every one.

Shalom!

I studied Software Engineering with one of the best private universities in Asia and I can authoritatively tell you that 4 years of active studies are not enough to be a good programmer.

Within this period, I was exposed to C, C++, C#, Java, Php, SQL, Wordpress, Android, iOS, Graphic design, Multimedia content development.

During my finals, my rector told me that he has a gift for me for being a 1st class graduating student.

Guess what the gift was. He told me to go and study frameworks like VueJs, Laravel and slack.

He said with these 3 frameworks, my future is secure.

I'm yet to study any of them because I'm busy with side projects coming up every now and then, though small and engaging as an Intermediary Software Engineer.

To create my own path, I picked SQL and Software Designs.
I believe with these two, my dreams of developing robust algorithms for my dream software will surely be achieved.
It's taking you 4 years because they have decided to teach you a lot that you won't probably need to use when you get hired abroad, you will most likely be hired to do one thing & use one programming language for the specific work you were hired to do.

--- C, C++, C#, Java, Php, SQL, Wordpress, Android, iOS, Graphic design, Multimedia content development.

In every thing you listed here, you are going to be hired for only one of them, Just one.

Even though your professor told you to study both VueJs, Laravel. You will also use just one of them eventually. It's either you become a VueJs Frontend Developer or Laravel Full Stack Developer. You will choose one.

Hello everyone.

I noticed a few pages ago there seemed to be some confusion about ILR 10 years route, so I would like to share my positive experience.

Date of Standard Online Application: 31/08/2021
Payment Debited & Confirmation email received: 31/08/2021
Documents Uploaded via UKVCAS website: 14/09/2021
Biometrics submitted in person (Cardiff): 15/09/2021
Complex Letter: NONE
Received positive decision email: 17/12/2021
Received BRP: Waiting.

I accumulated the following visas during my 10 years stay: Tier4 student visa (5 years; 1yr Master's, 4yrs Ph.D.), Doctorate Extension Scheme (1yr), Tier 2 skilled visa (4 yrs).

For ILR long residence route (10yrs), you can fast-track the decision via the super-priority payment (extra £800) opened at 1 am (yes, after midnight). I would have done this but was not aware of the 1 am super-priority opening.

For me, it was imperative that I switch from tier 2 to ILR as soon as possible. I have always not really fancied my stay in the UK dependant on my employers or any other party. There are several instances where individuals and their families had to relocate back to Nigeria/other countries because they lost their jobs, company went bust e.t.c. and could not get another sponsor. A lot of people fell victim to this, especially during the pandemic.

A little bit of advice for those who recently came to the UK and are seeking permanent residency in the future is to plan accordingly. Start small and gradually grow big. As you may all have read from people's experiences, it's really not easy particularly for those coming with family on tier4 students visas. I cannot overemphasize cultivating the habit of saving and financial discipline as an application to transfer to another visa category or extend your visa is quite expensive. Also, put into consideration the cost of living e.t.c. Please, don't be too quick to spend lavishly while giving people back at home any kind of false impressions. Again, there are people who had to leave prematurely after making extravagant purchases due to losing their jobs and being unable to find another one on time.

Wishing you all good luck and all the best.
Honestly this is one of the reasons why Canadian PR is simply the best for anyone who can go through the hoops to get it. Imagine after spending years in the UK, then one day a company turns it back and say no more visa sponsor.

Actually those people are really mad I tell you. A friend of mine did it and got it. No lawyers or anything like that. I clearly understood what they were looking when I sat down to analyse it properly.

He had 1 company CEO from the UK, 1 company from central Europe, 2 CEOs from Nigeria. I came to discover that they mostly rate UK company recommendations which is very biased.

Now only the top 1% of people in Nigeria that have this kind of credential which is really unfair.

Also having a volunteering work for humanitarian purpose on your CV is also important.

Overall it’s just 50/50 and no guarantees at all. My conclusion is they are mad.
