NYSC is never a scam because some people's life have been positively affected by NYSC and unborn children life will still be affected by NYSC. Agreed the scheme has outlived it functions and needs to be refine and broaden it scopes but total cancellation might not be in the interest of the rural communities who relies on the manpower NYSC provides.
NYSC allawee is never a freebies, it's money earn by serving "corpas".

I always wonder why APC thinks everyone that criticize them is PDP member or PDP sponsor.
APC should use criticism as a feedback from electorates in measuring the deliveries of their electoral promises and not like witch hunt from anybody that criticize them.

There is always freedom of speech even in North Korea but freedom after speech is not guaranteed. Buhari never promise Nigerians free speech and his previous administration bare witness to what happen to voice of opposition.

@Op, let me be of help to you. People have generator in Western world not because they expect power to cease but because if storm, hurricane and possibly accident beyond the power company control happen, then generator comes on as back up power.
You can have a generator and not use it for a year if nothing like storm, a drunk idoit hit a power cable with his car. Only very few people have generator because it's consider a luxury and not a necessity. Hope this explanation help.

Why are you speaking for majority of Nigerians? I am not in nigeria but I can tell Buhari has been a monumental failure and Nigerians are worse off compared to 3 years ago. Increase in unemployment, insecurity which is not better than what PDP offer and his tribalism has divided Nigeria and Nigerians more than it has even been. He needs to retire and give room to younger generation to govern and take Nigeria to greater height cos what Buhari has to offer is not good enough.

Our problem is structure and people. Our form of government is not defined. We practice federalism with no free States and local governments. We need to practice true federalism and we will accelerates development because each governors will not want to be left behind. 6 VP will further impoverished already broke country. We need to trim down numbers of elected officials and not increase it. United States has 50 states and 100 senators while Nigeria has 36 states and 106 senators... that does not add up...

First, Prioritizing human development is the best thing that can happen to an economy because how do you intend to produce, grow and sustain your economy if you are lacking in human capital? Nigeria as a country is lacking a great deal of quality human capital. We have so many engineer but only engineer that read textbook on how to build bridges but have not build one in real life or witness where a bridge in built.

Only quality education can liberate Nigeria and Nigerians from shackles of poverty and wholesome investment in quality education by both the public and private sector is the answer. No nation can outgrow it quality of education and Nigeria problem begins the moments of large scale decline in education. I had received free education from University of Lagos and i had receive paid education from college elsewhere and i can tell the different.
The bottom line is, Nigeria as a nation should reduce the remuneration of political office holder by %60 and increase investment in human capital, education, infrastructure by a great deal if we plan to attain economic prosperity as a nation.

Fact is there is a VERY convincing argument for the Nigerian government focusing on physical infrastructure as a priority. Why spend extra billions on education when there are no roads to reach the schools, and no power to light them up and power the labs etc?

Why spend billions on hospitals when your streets are muddy, open gutter eyesores? To visit hospital, get treated, and return there two weeks later with the same sickness?

Bill Gates' own country, the USA, built up its infrastructure BEFORE focusing on 'human development'. The famous railroads and freeways crisscrossing that country, which opened it up to trade and great wealth, were built by malnourished slaves and impoverished immigrants. They didn't say, ''Oh wait! Let us invest in this human capital before building the country''. Yet this is what Bill Gates is prescribing for us. Sure he is a rich CEO of Microsoft. But he is no expert in development. I'm unaware of any qualifications he has in Development Economics. Didn't he drop out of high school or something? All he can have is an... opinion. And Nigerians should decide independently what is good for them without taking 'instructions' from him.

Sure, there is an argument for prioritising health care and education. But it is not as stark and clear an option as some here have concluded it is, merely because they heard Bill Gates say it. What I would recommend is that the FG maintain its primary focus on physical infrastructural development, while raising substantially its expenditure on healthcare and education.

Nobody is suffering in US or Uk but not as people think it's easy to get dollars. I had lived but life and i will rather be a home care aide in America than a banker in Nigeria due to job insecurity and host of other problems.

I read the saying in Nland that a lizard in Nigeria will always be a lizard in America and I did not comprehend what it means until I got approved for student visa, get to America and see for myself some people are better off in Nigeria than they are living in America. I saw for myself MBA holder in Nigeria doing home care aide with joy and smiles on his face and I was moved to tears. The situation get worse when such person fail to develop themselves by going back to school.
America is better than Nigeria but never an Eldorado and some people are better off staying in Nigeria if you have a good job because citizenship does nothing for you than the privilege to go and come as you like but your bills still wait for you.

For example, United States secretary of education Besty Devos and family donated millions of dollars to Trump campaign organisation during election and Trump decided to appoint her as educational secretary. Reason why Nigerian politicking is taking our nation backwards. People supports their candidates to win elections and in return they want a juicy appointments were they can lick more than enough from the national cake.

Until we get to a situation where public position/appointment are no longer seen as compensation and the right people appointed to oversee our board, our nation will continue to go backwards.

I will gladly support the removal of all those that has previously held public position since the country's independence for a brand new set of politicians that has the nation at heard and not their pocket.

There are priorities in life. Lots of rich folks who still do not have jets while lots of soon to be poor have a private jets. Credit facility is Western world has made it easy to buy now and pay later even when the debt will make you go bankrupt in future. Most time, luxury like expensive cars is not a sign of wealth but investment. I know friends that drive expensive car but struggling to make car payment
