Last salary increase I got was 30k. I used it whole to increase her monthly allowance. Didn't tell her but she just saw it. Never asked me what the increase was but just thanked me and continued. We live in different cities and she maintains the house on her own. She does that well. |

Pair of Jeans. Freezer jeans. Those of us of the early 90s know freezers were among the in thing then as far as denims were concerned. We wore jeans as compound wear then in boarding school. Dad bought it after much hesitance. Cost 500 bucks then, was a huge amount. I was cream boy then wearing it. Washed and hung to dry on hostel window then the bastard moved it. Helped a friend with 50 thousand naira in 2010. That was a third of my salary so it was quite much. He was into supply of chicken droppings, gathering from poultry farms in Jos and delivering in Abuja. He begged for money to augment his working capital & to refund me after 6 months. I pitied him because we finished university together and after 8years he didn't get a job while I was in my 4th year working in a second bank. Time to refund... no show from my guy. He either changed number or blocked me because I couldn't reach him again and we were far apart, he was in Jos and I was in Zaria. I was preparing for my wedding then so I needed cash badly and this guy just blanked me. November 2011 he showed up at my wedding, I didn't even invite him, I just accepted his pleasantries casually and let him be. We never saw since then and I never made effort to reestablish the friendship again. 4 Likes |

Had one guy I knew in Jos. He's from a relatively wealthy family, he always had cash to spend but he was always involved in one case of theft or the other, even among his friends that he foots their Bill's. He could be wearing a 12000 naira wrist watch while visiting and still steal a friend's 1500naira watch. That's how bad it was. Valentine's day in 2006. I Had no money to spend on my girl then so I sneaked to a bar to drink lager and eat suya. This guy (klepto) came in company of 3 other guys in his car, one of the cars in their house. Apparently they were partying somewhere else and ran short of drinks so they came to restock. Bottle of red wine was about 700naira then and this guy ordered for 4. While the bar guy was trying to package the drinks this guy stole one more bottle and tried to hide it in his Jean back pocket and cover with his jacket. It missed and the bottle fell and broke. So embarrassing. I saw him while he did that and he claimed he wanted to buy it and add to those already bought. Who was to bear the loss of the drink was becoming a problem between him and the bar guy until I intervened and explained everything I saw. That was when he shamefully admitted and it was settled. Bar man was to remove a bottle out of those my guy bought as replacement but surprisingly this guy asked that it be left. He still paid for the broken one. The thing shocked me. You got money to pay and you still wanted to steal after paying for 4 bottles o! And me I was managing my k-Borg and 2 suya sticks. Goddammit! 22 Likes 1 Share |

HonNL:These guys... so they think the bad guys will hear all these things and still go commit? Why won't they quietly get some few reliable men and brief them on what they want, then send them out to the streets to see who will fall into the criteria of the restriction and accost him. Take them in for questioning. The ones that are convincing, free them. The ones that are not, detain them for further questioning and I believe they will reveal much on who or what the government intends to get. Simple intelligence. I bet with these announcements they won't see nada! |

Toeze:Very true. I had a junior student in secondary school. Dad's Igbo and mum British. He was fair skinned ok, but you would tell by mere looking one of his parents was black. But the sister, totally white like the mum. She's blonde, light-brown hair just like mum's. We found it hard to believe they were siblings but just accepted it that way. 3 Likes |

All these surrenders here and there are suspicious. Never trust an enemy who surrenders at the point of defeat. Also, these may be Shekau guys who stood by him till his death and refused to fuse into ISWAP, who were dislodged from Sambisa forest. They presently lack leadership and have run short of supplies because they are caught between Federal forces and ISWAP fighters. Why they surrender to Federal troops is that they encountered them first. They could have easily surrendered to ISWAP if they had the chance to meet them first too. I do not think their surrender is genuinely out of repentance rather, it's a means of survival and they can easily return to status quo if the resources and leadership are made available. 3 Likes |

Why would he attempt racing against a car with better capacity, if not ignorance? Hope he learnt his lesson there. I used to do gragra with my old W203 C240 2003 model. That car is superb. When I changed to Honda, even though a v6 accord, omo, I respect myself o. No anyhow speed and maneuver anymore. Car just feels like it will leave ground @ 160km/hr. I've always had this principle: any accommodation that my 1 month pay cannot cover isn't for me. I can't even use 2 months salary to pay rent. OP take that cue. There are a lot more things to do with money aside rent. 1 Like |

All the regulator bank needs to do now is to ensure the allocation hitherto given BDCs are redistributed to the banks so as not to reduce the volume of fx in the economy. Genuine customers have suffered recently due to inadequate allocation of fx to banks as CBN shared what was available between banks and BDCs. Customer requests were kept for days or even weeks on queue awaiting fx availability when same fx was flowing freely in the black markets at cut-throat rates. With the BDCs out now, and with total volume of fx allocation sustained I think genuine applicants for fx should be fine. Also, the fx operations can be more easily monitored in the banks than BDCs provided there's no compromise on the part of the regulator and its employees and agents. 1 Like |

During a discussion in church some years back, someone presented two scenarios and asked whether tithe is applied appropriately. One: a trader that buys goods from Lagos for resell in Jos. At the end of month he pays tithe out of the profits he made from sales of that month because that's his income. In arriving at the profit he would have deducted all his expenses incurred like transport, feeding & accommodation while in Lagos, shop rent, staff salary etc in the course of his business. Then he pays tithe out of what is left. Two: a government worker who receives salary monthly is expected to pay tithe on the whole amount received. Should he not also deduct his daily transport cost, cost of lunch at least which he takes during work, and all other expenses he incurs in the course of his work and pay his tithe from what is left of his salary? An argument ensued which remained inconclusive till we departed. Even the priests present at the discussion could not provide clear, convincing answers. It was a catholic forum BTW. 3 Likes 1 Share |

It's because many mistake lust for love. But then, is it only the man that has a taste of the woman's body? Does she not also have a taste of his own? What makes it look like the woman loses after sex and the man gains? I believe women should stop using sex as a bargain point or weapon as it were, and also stop giving men the idea that if sex is involved between the two then the man should be responsible for her needs. We meet, you need sex, I do too. We have it, you enjoy, I do too. Everyone goes his way.
