I'm in my 30s and we aren't the hardest to date. At 30+, you are more mature. You have been through all that chasing the girl crap that you spent your 20s doing. At this point of your life, it's about focusing on your career and finding some stability in your life. A man in his 30s has seen all the tricks from women and is no longer amused. Time is money. If a lady isn't interested, she should bounce. Nothing worse than wasting a man's time playing games. That's for boys who haven't experienced life yet. Days of simping for women are over. |
Thank you for understanding where I am coming from! Someone finally gets it! I am not mocking women or anyone from a poor background. I am not saying that they should remain where they are. All I am saying (pretty sure it's the same for most rational people) is that you can't ask for what you don't have. Relationships are give and take not take and take. You cannot be poor and expect a rich man or a rich man's son to sweep you off your feet when you haven't done anything to develop yourself. Life is not like the movies. Even Meghan Markle was an established actress when she met Prince Harry. She wasn't living in a slum dreaming about marrying Royalty. Even despite all this, the British press made a mockery of her family background. Can these leeches deal with that? The real elite, as you noted, don't respect people from humble beginnings regardless of gender. These slay queens don't understand this. Us men are very realistic about our prospects and don't go for what we can't handle. Magnoliaa: |
Thank you for the message even though you know nothing about my background. The question is, what "standards" do you have to begin with? You are poor, no money, no assets, no car, no family pedigree and you are talking about "standards"? Isn't that ironic? What are women from poor backgrounds bringing to the table? Intellect? Finance? Contacts? Homemaking? What is it? What do you have to offer a rich baller that other women can't? I want to know. siofra: |
I will never understand why Nigerian women from poor backgrounds have this entitlement to marry up. They are all over social media broke shaming poor men and swearing that they have nothing to do with them. You will never see girls from rich backgrounds do this. Hell, even girls from middle class families don't do this. I understand the importance of wanting a better life for yourself and your offsprings. I really do. What I don't get, however, is their criticism of broke guys/struggling guys bring nothing to the table but they themselves have nothing to offer. If you ask them what they themselves bring to the table in a relationship, their response is "oh he will love me for who I am", "the rich bachelor hasn't seen the poor girl that will sweep him off his feet", "I will be submissive and humble". My dear, how is that "love" you are talking about going to improve his life? You don't believe in love from a poor guy but you want to offer that same "love" to someone who can get any woman he wants? Does that make logical sense? Your father doesn't have a car but you demean men who don't have a car You live in a face me I face you flat in Orile but you want ballers who live in Lekki and Ikoyi? ![]() What most of these women don't understand is that rich guys, especially ajebutters, are very elitist. If you mess up, they will remind you of where you were coming from before they met you. They can kick you out at any time and there's nothing you can do about it. Look and FFK and his estranged wife. Caroline Danjuma's husband cheated on her with several women and she couldn't do jack. I am not saying that you shouldn't go for rich men but at least bring something to the table and not see marriage/relationships as a poverty alleviation scheme. Agbani Darego came from a humble background but she ended up marrying Danjuma's son. Let's not forget that Agbani has her own money and has furthered herself both academically and socially. |
Not Aisha Buhari but Zahra their daughter who is married to Indimi. None of her children were born in Nigeria. The first was born in Spain while the second one was born in UAE. Yet Bubu will be preaching patriotism and one Nigeria. None of the elites believe in Nigeria. truthsayer009: |
My brother, the idiots in this forum will not listen. They will continue to shout "IPOB", "Afonja" or "Aboki". None of the elites from all corners of this country give a damn about the masses. Did you know that the First Lady was residing in UAE for 5 months? None of Zahra Buhari's kids were born in Nigeria. Bukola Saraki and Ben Murray-Bruce still maintain dual nationality despite being Political holders. Tinubu has properties in the UK & US and most likely has a U.S. passport. Atiku has a house in Maryland, USA. Peter Obi has assets outside the country. All these guys have backup plans in case Nigeria ever collapses. The masses are just cannon folder. chaloskyx: |
Look at this one lol. Your likes are on this forum on a daily basis bragging that all you need to get a woman is money. "Money is the koko", "who love epp?", "women can date a monkey as long as money is involved". What did you think was going to happen?? She saw you as a maga and you saw her as an easy lay . What has she contributed to your life? Nothing. Apart from money and provisions, what else have you contributed to the relationship? OP, what you have is not a girlfriend but a parasite who has other magas on the side. Know this and know peace. |
I have been saying this for a while. This forum is so misorgynist and tribalist it's not even funny. People will be venting their anger and frustration on people they don't personally know. A lot of moderates and intellectuals have quite this forum and other mediums because the toxicity is too much. NoFucksToGive: |
OP, it comes down to how they view you. If they see perceive you as being flashy or the struggling type, in their mind, they see a potential maga. One thing I have noticed about most of these girls is that if you are rich, from a wealthy background or you lived abroad, they don't reveal their true selves to you at the beginning as they feel that a guy of your type is hard to come by. Instead, they will pretend and act "sophisticated" with the hope that you will fall for their charm. This is a true story. These girls aren't that stupid. They are hustlers sizing their market. If I am lying, look at the last Big Brother. See the way the girls in that house treated Kiddawaya in comparison to say Laycon. |
OP, your friend needs to understand something, Nigerian women do not like competition. It's not about light skin vs dark skin. They see fair guys as their competition. They want to want be the attractive person in the relationship. Nigerian women also don't like men that know how to cook. Most Nigerian women feel intimidated by men who know how to cook as they cannot impress such a person. It's the same way a lot of Nigerian men are intimidated by women who are richer than them or are more educated than them. You cannot intimidate a woman who is wealthier and more educated than you. Forget about the lack of finance comments here. Majority of Nigerians who are married are not rich. In fact, poor people get married faster than rich people. This is a fact. Nigerians are a very competitive and dominating people. We don't like to be second best at anything. |
You need to understand that Nigerians are as ignorant as the Americans they mock. They know nothing about many countries across the globe. The Chilean passport is the strongest passport in Latin America. For your country to have visa-free access to the U.S., it has to be very developed. America has some of the strictest visa rules in the world after Australia. Countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Malaysia, Brazil and the gulf states aren't "third world". They are just a few years away from being first world if they don't mess themselves up. It will take Nigeria at least 2 generations to even get to their level let alone matching them. walkbrazil4k: |
OP, I respect your zeal to defend Brazil. A lot of people, especially Nigerians, are very ignorant of countries that are not UK, USA, Canada and other western countries. Can you imagine that some Nigerians actually believe that South Korea is a third world country?Brazil is more advanced than any country in Africa including SA. I have been reading about Brazil since I was a teen and the country is not a third world country. It's not a first world country either as there's a huge disparity between the rich and the poor and between the North and South. That's the reality on ground. There's a huge racial inequality in that country even though they like to believe otherwise as Southern Brazil, which is dominated by whites, is the most developed part of Brazil while Northern Brazil, which is dominated by Blacks and Natives, is the most underdeveloped part of Brazil. You made a smart decision to relocate to Brazil as there aren't many Nigerians moving towards that direction and with its large black population, you can easily blend in with the crowd. Brazil still has a lot of developing country problems such as poor literary rate, a high % of people living in extreme poverty and a low purchasing power compared to say Argentina, Chile or Uruguay. |
I thought that I was the only one who noticed this lie. Who spends that kind of money in a month if you don't have any business venture in the country? Are you going to tell me that they stay in a hotel for the duration of their stay in their own country?? What about family/friends? People aren't making money like that abroad. They know that this is a faceless forum so they can say anything they want and people will believe them. pansophist: |
Sorry bro but our points are divergent. Even Prince Harry would not get into Oxford with his poor A'level grades let alone someone like Otedola. The point I'm making is that you have to be brainy or have an impressive resume to get into schools like Oxford/Cambridge. I am not a fan of Cuppy but I have to give credit where it's due. With her family wealth, she doesn't need to push herself to acquire more degrees but she is. Commentor: |
I'm sorry but do you think that it's easy to get into Oxford?? Oxford is not a Nigerian university where you can settle the school officials for admission. I know people with perfect A'level results that couldn't make the cut to Oxford. You are a very bitter person who needs to work on his/her issues before critising others. It's not her fault that you were born poor. This forum reeks of bitterness and envy. Philipmems: |
I somewhat agreed with you as a guy. I have observed that us men, sometimes, are our worst enemies. A broke guy will have no qualms with spending the little money he has on a girl but to help his fellow man is difficult. Don't get me wrong, men do help their fellow men a lot and quite a few take advantage of it and are ungrateful. It's not even only with broke guys. I have also noticed this is very common with returnees from abroad. I will never understand how a girl who has never lived in Nigeria secures accommodation, job and contacts within 2 weeks of relocating to Nigeria while their male counterparts are on their own.Look at the female celebrities. Both men and women patronize their business on social media while only a few patronize the businesses of their male counterparts. As a man in this country, if you don't have a strong supportive system (well to do family, friends) you are on your own. No one gives a damn about you. Magnoliaa: |
At least 50%. It's like applying for a job. A first class graduate with good social skills with get in front of the queue before everybody else. It doesn't mean that he's secured the job. Same thing with Nigerian women, all these things will get you in front of the queue but it doesn't guarantee that they like you or will be loyal to you. The dating market in this country is crazy. truthsayer009: |
As the headline states, a travel visa issued at an embassy does not guarantee you the right of entry into a country. So many people do not understand this. There is a general misconception that once a prospective traveller is finally issued a visa at a country’s consulate, it would guarantee said traveller an automatic right of entry into a country’s borders but that is not true. I shall discuss what brought about this topic. On 14 August 2021, a Nigerian, Adeyemi Opebiyi, had filed a lawsuit against the United Kingdom for allegedly turning him back from entering the country after he had been granted a visa and had flown from Nigeria to the Manchester Airport. Mr. Opebiyi, who described himself as the Head of Operations, Sabi Micro Finance Bank Ltd, arrived at Manchester Airport on March 14, 2021 and was stopped by a UK Immigration official, who insisted that he must be interviewed before he could be allowed into the UK. He claimed that he was made to wait for eight hours at the immigration desk before he was eventually interviewed by an Immigration officer, who had asked him to draw the logo of Sabi Micro Finance Bank Ltd, among other things, as a way of verifying his claim that he works with the financial institution. Opebiyi alleged that after drawing the logo as best as he could, the Immigration officer told him that the drawing was not good enough and he would be denied entry into the UK on that basis. He claimed that he was subsequently detained for 10 days before he was finally deported to Nigeria on March 24. He said, in response to his request for the review of the decision, that he received a letter from the UK Home Office, which stated that what he drew bared little resemblance to the logos found in all the supporting documents he had sent to the British High Commission during his visa application. The Home Office further inferred that Mr. Opebiyi was unable to state the names of the current Chairperson and Managing Director of Sabi Micro Finance Bank Ltd. Mr. Opebiyi was also alleged to have been unable to state the core values of the Bank, which he is a part of. From the above case study, it is safe to say that the alleged victim was deported from the United Kingdom as a result of his failure to verify his status with his company and also his inability to comply with the immigration officer’s instructions. Even though the British High Commission granted Mr. Opebiyi a visa, the immigration officer at the point of entry has the discretion to deny him access if he/she feels that his application is not genuine. It is also important to understand what a point of entry to country means as it will enable potential travellers/immigrants mentally prepare themselves for their trip when the time comes. What is a point of entry? A point of entry is specific place where a person can lawfully enter the country. According to Law Insider, a point of entry means a passage for international entry or exit of travelers, baggage, cargo, containers, conveyances, goods and postal parcels as well as agencies and areas providing services to them on entry or exit. It is one of the many “stages” a potential traveller has to partake in order to travel to another jurisdiction. The first stage is to obtain a visa, second stage is to exit the country you are based in and the final stage is to arrive at the intended country’s point of entry. Now that we are clear about what a point of entry means, it is safe to say that the immigration officer who interviewed Mr. Opebiyi was at the point of entry in the UK and had the power to accept or reject his visa at will. A similar scenario occurred in March 2017. In this case, a Nigerian citizen was denied entry into the United States of America (U.S.A.) despite having a valid two-year multiple visa. The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria asserted that a visa does not guarantee entry into the U.S. and it is a practice that is common amongst different countries across the world. This is the sad reality of immigration. A country can issue a potential traveller a multiple entry visa but that traveller can still be deported if the immigration officer interviewing said traveller feels that the individual involved has not satisfied their reasons for allowing he/she into their country. Nevertheless, one should always endeavor to ensure that they have the right documents, can confidently answer all questions asked and is willing to provide further information/documents when needed. |
The point is that the aforementioned two are risky considering the OP's friend's budget. The money is not enough for real estate business.Even if you buy a plot of land for N200, 000, you will still have to spend twice as much to develop it. As for UBER, the cost of maintaining a car in the Nigeria of today is not cheap. A family friend had to quit after a while as it was not durable in the long run. The person in question can buy a sewing machine and learn tailoring. He can apply for foreign jobs online and earn in dollars. The internet is there for a reason. This is more in line with his desire to become a fashion designer. He can use to balance to invest in stocks or tangible things. Bakerdav: |
OP, what's your definition of classy girls? Is it the pretty social media girls dressed head to toe in designer wears but no proven source of wealth? Is it the rich girls from a rich background that live in the suburbs or is it the working/middle class girls that are big shots in their field of practice? That question needs to be clarified. Once you have clarified that, use the following points to be the ultimate bachelor as far as Nigeria is concerned: 1. You must have a car. (they need to know that your are mobile) 2. You must have a constant stream of income (money) 3. You should have a place of your own (it indicates independence, place of comfort and security) 4. You should be well educated (no matter how much money you have, women can't deal with illiterates) 5. Your diction must be on point. (can't have you embarrassing them in public when you open your mouth). 6. Finally, your dress sense must be on point. (Nigerian women judge men based on their appearance). Have all these and classy girls will flock to you like bees. |
Your friend is already a fashion designer. Why doesn't he invest that money into something fashion related? He can get a sewing machine and rent a small shop. Use the remaining balance to further himself in the profession which is what it is. Uber and real estate are risky businesses. Nigerians need to be more creative. |
As someone who has spent 13 years of his life in the UK before relocating to Nigeria, I will say that moving back home is tough if you are not financially independent and don't have a back-up plan in case things don't work. All what the previous posters said about the cost of living in the west, lack of culture and risk of running a rat race is true. However, Nigeria is not a stable option either. The cost of living is rising and business is not booming like before. The growing insecurity in the country is not helping matters. I don't blame many people who want to leave. In my personal opinion, the best way to enjoy the best of both worlds is if you have papers. I get that not everybody is interested in such but it is a massive advantage that a lot of people are ignoring. If life is unbearable in Nigeria, you can always relocate. Foreign citizenship gives you access to foreign health care that you may not have in Nigeria. The point is not to limit yourself to one place. Many people who did so are regretting it. |
Oh, so that means that Sowore and other activists are frauds because their children don't study in Nigeria? It's not your fault, this forum gives unknown monikers the audacity to chat to people who they wouldn't have the opportunity to talk to in real life. I leave the stage for you. Godispeace: |
Nigerians must always complain! Is Aisha a public official?? Do you know if her husband is rich? She's a private citizen and can decide to send her children to any country she wishes as long as it is not looted funds. If anything, this shows that she's comfortable and doesn't have to fight for your rights. Even Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana and other activists educated their wards abroad. Who doesn't want the best for their kids? You should direct your anger towards politicians such as Buhari and Ben Murray Bruce who kept misleading people with the mantra: "grow the naira and patronize your country" when they did otherwise. |
The irony. He supports the destruction of beer/alcoholic drinks in his states as they are "anti-islam" but sends his son to a "non-islamic" country to reap the benefits of their educational system. His stupid supporters, who are languishing in poverty with no quality education, will still support him come 2023. Poverty and ignorance is a crime against humanity. |
There is a general perception that men from privileged homes find it easier to settle down compared to men from working class/poor homes. This is not true. Most guys from "privileged" backgrounds tend to be within the middle class-upper class bracket. So we aren't talking about the sons of billionaires like Adenuga or sons of Politicians. The guys I am referring to are the sons of top professionals, captains of industry, top civil servants and business people. These guys grew up in posh neighbourhoods and went to the best schools money could buy. Their parents are comfortable but do not have the financial clout that billionaire magnates or politicians have. These guys have seen what exposure and wealth looks like. You would think that they will have a better chance to settle down with the girl of their dreams compared to a guy from a struggling background but that is not true. Most of these guys cannot sustain the lifestyle their parents gave them with their own salary. Even with their connections, they have to hustle on their own. When it comes choosing a partner, their options are limited. They cannot maintain the lifestyle of the girls they grew up with. In fact, securing a place of their own that matches what they grew up with is difficult. Imagine a guy who grew up in Ikoyi now looking for a place of his own in Yaba? Not easy. If their parents could not bestow them a place of their own it is very difficult. There are many guys in their late 30s who still live with their folks. This is not because they want to but it is difficult in this economic times to find quality accommodation. A guy from a privileged home when deciding to get married has to consider the following factors: accommodation, schools, holidays for the family, health care and so on. Yes, every single person has to take that into consideration. However, a guy from struggling background doesn't have any a standard to look up to. As long as he has a job and a place of his own, he is good to go. Issues such as trips abroad, foreign tuition fees, foreign medical fees/private health care, having two cars for the family are not his concern. In contrast, a guy from a privileged home has to consider those things. If he can't afford to provide his family what his parents gave him, he has underachieved if not failed. The country is tough. Everybody is feeling the pain. This article is not about putting anyone down or comparing people's struggles. It's meant to highlight the realities of single men from two different economic backgrounds. In a country where a man has 100% responsibility of taking care of the family, privilege is meaningless if you can't afford to back it up. It's either that or downsizing your lifestyle and becoming a laughing stock among your peers. |
This lad is trying to guilt trip older bachelors into marriage lol. Don't fall for it. Only get married because you want to get married. Not because of loneliness or what society says. It's just crazy that all Nigerians talk about is marriage, kids and church/mosque. No social activities outside those things. |
This is another proof of the level of mediocrity tolerated in a country like Nigeria. How can a village lack electricity for 12 BLOODY YEARS and no one blinks an eye?? There should be protests and probes over this issue. Do you know that the people of Palestine protested simply because they didn't have electricity for 24 hours ? Where are the elites from that village? You cannot tell me that there are no big men/women from that village irrespective of where they live. Anyways, people in this forum keep preaching the gospel of making money and becoming a "big boy" ignoring the poor environment they live in. These same clowns in this forum (at 80%) will tell you that Nigeria is the best place to be in the whole world and is even better than any developed country. Enjoy your mediocrity. |
You are wasting your time. Nigerians are used to mediocrity. Anyone who is against the President is seen as a wailer or IPOB. They compare Nigeria to other banana Republics to proof a point that Bubu is working. No sane educated and exposed individual will still be supporting a Government that banned Twitter, massacred innocent protesters, granted herdsmen amnesty, allowed banditry and kidnapping to fester to the point that even the elites are being kidnapped and stood by while the Naira crashed against other currencies. The standard of living has declined in the past 6 years. Despite all of this, a sizeable number of people still support him. Nigerians really deserve their leaders. Onepeople: |
I can't even begin to imagine what you went through. I was fortunate as my folks had some contacts with NIS and could settle them on a discount. Why should one bribe/know someone in order to acquire your National Passport which is part of your entitlement? Not only that, you have to go there PHYSICALLY to collect it. In saner climes, once your passport is ready, it is posted to your home address. Nigerians really deserve their leaders. The only ones who have the right to complain are those who are unwilling to accept mediocrity. florixi: |
My sister, it's a waste of time educating these people. The average Nigerian is extremely materialistic. They lack foresight and believe that everything is about being wealthy. Nothing works in this country. No light, water, roads, health care, education, electricity or even security but all these ones talk about is how to make money. They aren't even ashamed that in 2021, an oil producing country like Nigeria cannot boast of constant electricity. Nigeria is good for them because they can oppress their fellow Nigerians with money. Most people migrate to give their children a better life than they had. Imagine living in a country where you have to BRIBE someone just to acquire the national passport? A country where passports run out of print? Yet they are comparing it to a functional country like the U.S.? Some of these clowns complain about the cost of living abroad but are not willing to make financial contributions to improve the quality of living in their own country. Grace001: |
