Under German Nationality Law, citizenship is granted under the principles of jus sanguinis and jus soli. Citizenship is granted under the Jus Sanguinis principle if at at least one of the parents is a German citizen, or under the Jus Soli principle if born in Germany to foreign nationals residing in Germany with an unlimited permission to stay and a regular stay for at least 8 years. German citizenship can also be granted through naturalization as a rule following 8 years of residency in Germany, BUT NON-EU AND NON-SWISS CITIZENS MUST USUALLY RENOUNCE THEIR PREVIOUS CITIZENSHIP BEFORE BEING NATURALIZED IN GERMANY.

OP, as an immigration lawyer, I will give you free advice that I otherwise would have charged as consultation fees. That N7million is not as big as you think it is. If you decide to migrate to the English speaking common law countries (U.S., UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland), just know that money will finish between 6 months to a year. If you must japa, migrate to countries where citizenship is guaranteed within a space of 5 years. With a second passport, you can move back to Nigeria anytime you want. Your descendants will forever be grateful for what you have done.

The only European countries worth looking with your budget are France and Finland. Education in those countries are relatively cheap compared to most western countries and you can naturalize within a space of 5-6 years (look at their nationality laws online). Don't bother with Germany as they don't accept dual nationality and you must have a fixed amount $8,000 before you can pursue your education there. You can think outside the box and look at Latin American countries. Brazil is an ideal destination. The cost of living in that country is low compared to the West. Their nationality laws are straightforward and Brazilian passport grants you visa-free access to most western countries. You can kill two birds with one stone and set up a business in Brazil with your remaining balance. Mexico is another option. Cost of living there is cheap and it is next door to the States. You can get married to a native there and obtain your citizenship within a short period.

Overall OP, think carefully about what you plan to do. Do your research. Don't rush to do anything rash. Ignore most of the posters here telling you to make multiple "investments" in Nigeria. They don't know anything hence why they keep voting for mediocres. The country is not getting better. Nigeria has been in decline in the past 40 years. Our problems didn't start in 1999. The founder of KFC was in his 50s when he founded the company. Walt Disney was in his 50s when he founded the company. A lot of corporate juggernauts are changing jobs well into their 60s since the beginning of the pandemic. You need to sort out your self-esteem and gain exposure by utilizing the internet to develop yourself.

That's the problem. There's too much fragmentation going on in the south. Yorubas from Kwara and Kogi have a different mentality to the core Yorubas. The south south is even the worst. Look at Delta alone. Itsekiris, Delta Igbo (my mum's tribe), Urhobos or Isokos. Where are they going to start? Funny enough, Benin people have more in common with Yorubas than other groups in the south. The whole thing is a mess.

There is still this tinge of suspicion, tribalism, animosity and second-guessing that goes on between both tribes. We will just have our Yoruba governments that prioritises my history and culture, and language too. Ditto the Igbos. Having our respective nations makes us go deeper into understanding who we are. My brother, I understand perfectly well. I am a product of both Yoruba and Igbo. Hence, my belief in Southern unity. Even at that, I understand the major differences and beef between the tribes. Nevertheless, I am of the view that Southerners have something in common: e[i]ducation and social mobility.[/i] Southerners and those from the middle belt understand the importance of education as a means of progression in any society. Femi Fani Kayode's custody battle with his estranged wife Precious is all over the news. Precious has been denied visitation rights to see her children. There are online petitions to help her. The real issue is this. FFK has money, power and influence to decide whether Precious sees her sons or not. Precious on the other hand is a nobody. She has no influence or connections. This may sound harsh but it is the reality on ground. Who knew Precious before FFK wooed her?

This is a bitter lesson to women who continue to broke shame poor guys/hustling guys. You want a man that is rich, established and powerful. Can you deal with his ego? Nothing else to be said. OP should have processed his son's Nigerian Passport while he was waiting for the lad's British passport to come through. The child is a dual citizen and is entitled to hold two passports. Use the British passport to fly out of Nigeria and Nigerian passport to visit or come back to Nigeria. In this day and age, one should never limit his/her options.

You have mentors who would give you advice on life after university. Not every body is sure of what they want to do once they graduate. That's why having a mentor is very important. As for the people moaning about PHD holders doing low income jobs, even in the west, PHD holders are doing low income jobs such as working for MC Donalds, Supermarkets, Cinemas etc. Job scarcity is everywhere and most employers in the west are looking for people with experience not multiple degrees that make them overqualified. Employers have a business to run.

A lot of women have this delusional belief that all it takes to get a high value man is their looks and homely attitude. It doesn't work like that in the real world. OP, as a practising lawyer, i will advice you to choose skills over legal qualification. Thousands of law graduates are turned out annually from universities and the Law School. A lot of those graduates are unemployed due to over-saturation of the job market. As some people in this thread have pointed out, you need to be very smart in order to succeed in the legal profession. Your social skills must be top notch because you have to do a lot of networking in order to get clients. Not only that, you need to socialize with those rich kids in school in order to get a job. The Legal Profession in this country is not what you know but who you know.

Do you come from a legal background? Most of these "senior lawyers" as you see so come from privileged backgrounds. Their parents were either Judges, SANS or ran their own law firms. This is an open secret that no one wants to talk about. Most of these "firms" pay lawyers peanuts. They will tell you that they are giving you "experience". The big firms that pay decent wages (Templars, G. Elias & Co), you have to work like a slave in order to earn that salary.

Your best bet is combining both. Use your skills to make money while developing yourself through legal education.

As long as you only possess a Nigerian passport, you need a visa to travel everywhere with the exception of other countries in West Africa. There are thousands if not millions of Nigerians with a passport but have never even crossed the seme border to Benin. Right now, many countries are denying visas to Nigerians.
