What are you talking about? The Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) are doing better than the rest of the former Soviet Union. They are members of the EU. Estonia is known for it's I.T. Their passports are among the best in the world. Please do some research. Quite a few countries that have separated are better off than they were previously. somehow: |
I am so sick of these low self-esteemed SIMPS crying on this site. You have the guts to come online and ask people if it's okay to give a woman that you are not married to or doesn't have any child for you 90% of your salary Are you not ashamed for asking such a question? Even giving her half your salary is stupidity. What has she contributed to your life? Do you not have parents to help out? What about siblings or other close relatives who may be in need of financial assistance but you decided to spend it all on a stranger who doesn't give a monkeys about you!! What about your own needs? Do you not want something better for yourself? 80k, especially if you live in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt, is peanuts considering the high cost of living these days. Know your worth man. A woman that really loves you will NEVER EVER want you to blow your salary for her sake. Your so-called "girlfriend" is most likely getting money from other men but you will never know ![]() |
I know that it's a waste of time. I only do it so as to satisfy my conscience. It's pointless educating Nigerians about ethics and other issues. They aren't different from their leaders. They are just hypocrites. Nigerians go to church & mosques and pray from morning to night yet they don't practice what they preach. I am not a saint but at least I am not a self righteous hypocrite. Forget these people bro and do you. wirinet: |
I am not surprised at the opinion of the above commentators. Nigerians are hypocrites. They act all "holy" and judgmental but do the opposite at home. They endorse corrupt practices but have the cheek to complain about corruption. What do you mean that it "nobody's business"? Those two are in breach of corporate ethics. Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world, had to step down from his company because of something like this. A Director of the CIA had to resign because of scenarios like this. Do you know how powerful the director of the CIA is He can order the assassination of your President and there's nothing you can do about it! The West, with all their immoralities, have strict ethics when it comes to the workplace/political positions. Here, we don't care yet we would be preaching morality all over the place. The masses aren't any different from their leaders. They are only pained that they are not in the position of authority to oppress their fellow citizens. Shame on you for castigating a woman who was betrayed by someone she trusted. If she wanted to sleep with her boss, don't you think that she acted on it a long time ago? Disgusted. |
This is what I keep telling them but they don't listen! If your family, friends or mentors can't advise you, is it a forum of anonymous strangers that will give you a decent advise? It's just stupid bringing personal & sensitive information to a very TOXIC forum. cosse: |
You shouldn't be surprised. Most Nigerians refuse to do research on other countries in the world. You don't need to travel out to know how good a country is. Extensive research would solve the problem. Unfortunately, Nigerians are too lazy to do some research. Their blind "patriotism" has clouded their sense of reasoning. I have friends who have been to Singapore and they said that Nigeria is a backwater compared to that country. quote author=Gerrard59 post=101588702] Which is why I am surprised that a moderator on Nigeria's most visited forum can be so ignorant factoring her online presence. One would think that our people will take advantage of the Internet to broaden their mindsets and expose themselves to different systems and cultures as they cannot travel because of the extreme state of privation in the land. I've not been to Singapore but after "discovering" the country during one of my searches seven years ago, I regretted being a Nigerian. Let alone South Korea. At the bold, it's disheartening o Cc:Tensazangetsu20
|
Gerrard, I visited South Korea two years ago for a conference. That country is more advanced than most European countries! Nigeria is a 4th world country compared to South Korea! We are talking about a country that has the fastest wifi in the world. They have underground shopping malls. Forget about this forum, majority of Nigerians are ignorant. They don't know how backward Nigeria is compared to many countries in Asia. Most of them lack expose and enlightenment. Gerrard59: |
Look at these people insulting the Pastor for telling them the bitter truth. For once, you have a member of the elite being honest about the harsh reality that Nigeria is currently facing and you lots are calling him a "coward." If he tells you to "pray" over Nigeria's problems you will say that he's making you docile. If he tells you to go and fight for your rights, you would say that he's leading an insurgency against the Government. Here, he's telling you to have a backup plan in case things go side ways and you are calling him a charlatan. If you lots like, ignore his advice. The only people who would suffer from an all out war or break up are the masses. The elites already have an exit strategy. Even MC OLUOMO has an American passport. Tinubu has a private jet and property in the UK. Atiku has property in Dubai. Femi Otedola doesn't even live in Nigeria atm. Dangote has several private jets. Your President will immediately jet out to the UK while your First Lady has been in Dubai for the past 6 months. You, my dear friends, will be collateral damage. Think wisely. |
I hope that this is just beer parlour rumors. Kelechi is waaay above her league. He has many options when it comes to women and should not waste it on a local champion and hood rat. |
Why are lots surprised? This has been going on for decades. I will highlight the problem as follows: 1. We have a lax immigration system that allows any tom, dick and harry to get into the country. A lot of these foreigners do not have legal documents to be in the country but alas, they bribed our immigration officials to let them have their way. 2. Nigeria does not have any strong labour laws. We have the Labour Act that is not enforced. As a result of this, these foreigner have taken advantage of that loophole to treat our their staff with impunity. 3. These guys have seen how we treat each other and have acted on instinct. If Nigerians treated each other with dignity, would these jokers treat us like trash in our own country? 4. Inferiority complex. Most Nigerians suffer from inferiority complex. They see any non-black person as "white", "oyinbo". Until we get rid of this mindset, we will continue to be slaves in our own country. 5. Lastly, another problem is corruption. Nigeria is a country where you can get away with murder once you have a lot of money. They have observed that you can bribe the police and soldiers to do your bidding. We are talking about a country where soldiers are holding the personal handbags of female civilians because of money! Solve the aforementioned problems and these guys will be forced to respect themselves. |
Mate, his wife is black. Did you not see the 3rd pic of his family? Joromi1: |
Well. to be fair, even westerners celebrate being citizens of other western countries. After Brexit, about 3 million british citizens applied for Irish passports. It's even more pronounced when a citizen of a developing country acquires citizenship of a 'developed' country. The world is becoming a globalized place where freedom of movement is more important than ever before. etrange: |
I'm sorry, the vast majority of votes for Buhari came from your region. The only reason why you lots are complaining about insecurity is because muslims are affected/killed. If it was only southerners/northern christians that were affected would you care? Despite all the level of insecurity in the country, you guys are still supporting Bubu, El Rufai, and Pantanmi because they are from your region. If you want others to take you lots seriously, go and call them to order. Otherwise, you lots are implying that you are indirectly on the same page. The ball is in your Court. Aremson14: |
This isn't surprising now. Most politicians are friends. If they were 'enemies' there would have been a lot of probes, assassinations and persecutions amongst themselves. These lots laugh at gullible Nigerians who kill themselves in the name of politics. If civil war ever erupts (God forbid), most of them will fly out of the country in their private jets and leave you lots to die. Have you ever seen Nigerian politicians fighting each other in the name of tribe/religion? Hell no. They are all united in stealing our commonwealth but a lot of idiots on this forum are too shortsighted to see that. Continue to shout "Ipob", "afonja" or "aboki". None of your politicians give a damn about you. |
Thank you for saying this! Most people in this forum don't get it! Nigerians are too blinded by political, tribal and religious inclinations to ever come together and make a stand. The House of Senate and the National Assembly are made up of representatives of every tribe in this country. What have they done for their people? Nothing. They are all united in stealing. AdaNri1: |
You aren't well and you have no one to tell you. Do you know what it means to date a cripple No woman in any part of the world desires to marry a cripple. Do you know that kind of mockery she has received from society due to who she married? Secondly, isn't it obvious that she's the breadwinner in the family? How is that cripple make money for the family? Use your brain mate. Not every woman is like the ones you know.Weedhustler: |
He's a brain dead slowpoke. kuntash: |
Keep quiet! Your President de marketed the country internationally by calling Nigerian youths "lazy" and "criminals"! He further de marketed the country by promoting medical tourism in the UK than his own country! Of course, you will not say something about it because it does not suit your narrative! Protests are done everywhere in the world. Hong Kong has experienced lengthly protests since 2019 yet most top companies still has their businesses there because they have good facilities. You zombies are something else! Damn! seunmsg: |
It's like that in many parts of the globe but more pronounced in this part of the world due to the level of inequality/disparity between the rich and poor. People date and make friends with those they grew up with. It is difficult for someone who went to Lekki British International School to meet someone who went to Oshodi Grammar School. Not possible. Also, differences in lifestyles means that such relationships cannot work. A poor individual will feel intimidated by the lifestyle of their rich partner. The rich individual would feel irritated by the mentality of the poor spouse. In this part of the world, when you marry someone, you marry their family. This is usually a recipe for disaster simply due to the lifestyle differences between the parties. In this very forum, many people complain that rich people, especially rich girls, are pompous, not submissive and do rely heavily on their parents. Why then do you want to marry them? Marry your level while they marry guys who know where they are coming from. XXXXTENTACION: |
This is what tribalism does to someone. Everything to you is Ipob. Meanwhile, the school is in Bayelsa and the names are Niger Deltan. People like you will wail when whites and arabs call you monkeys but your happily prejudiced towards your fellow black man. Seek a psychiatrist before it's too late. Simplyleo: |
Really and truly, you suffer from poverty of the mind. Even law firms (the top ones) pay more than that amount per month. Multinationals pay as much as N2 million per month. Try and expand your mind and stop displaying your ignorance on this forum. HONESTFACT101: |
Nigeria is just being run by idiots! Incompetent/ineffectual idiots! Nigeria doesn't need more universities! They need more funding! They should be focusing on internships for students so that they will have sufficient work experience that will prop up their CV! Universities need career advise centers just like it's done in developed countries. These centers will guide potential graduates towards making wise career decisions! They should be focusing on improving research facilities in every campus in the country. All these idiots think about is new ways to make money off struggling students who cannot afford tuition fees. |
OP, I also relocated to Nigeria a few years ago. Based on my experience, there are a couple of factors you have to consider: 1. Back up plan. It is imperative that you have a back up plan in case things go south in this country. So many people did not take this into consideration and are paying for it. When you have the option of moving back, your mind is at ease. If you have problems such as health, academic or other issues, you need to have an option. 2. Capital. This is obvious. To survive this messed up country, you need a lot of capital. Do not TRY to relocate if you don't have enough capital to keep you going for a sustained period of time in this country. Also, do not invest all your money in this country. It is suicidal. The current exchange doesn't favor Nigerians at all ($1:N450). Always have some assets where you are previously based in case of unforeseen circumstances. 3. Accommodation. In regards to accommodation, the question to ask is where you were based before moving abroad. Everyone is talking about Lagos or Abuja. What if you don't know any one in those cities? Most repatriates choose either Lagos or Abuja for obvious reasons. The problem is that those two cities have the highest cost of living in the country. Can you afford them? 4. Contacts. In a country like Nigeria, who you know is very important if you want to make life easy for yourself. Yes, there are quite a few repatriates who didn't know anyone and were able to adjust but I wouldn't recommend that you take that risk. You need contacts for business and day to day activities. 5. Infrastructure problems. As you are well aware, Nigeria has a lot of problems, chief among them is lack of adequate infrastructure. You have to provide your own light, water and internet services. Speaking of internet services, please bear in mind that the internet service in this country is very poor. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If your job requires you to work online, you need to reconsider your option to relocate. A lot of my friends who were stuck here during the initial lockdown complained that they couldn't work from home as the internet service was very slow. Think about that. 6. Side Hustle. It is imperative to have a side hustle as salary income is not enough to sustain you unless you are willing to live below your means. I am not good at business so I can't provide any recommendations regarding side hustles. These are all the factors that you need to consider before you take the plunge of moving to Nigeria. It's advisable to make a few trips to the country in order to assess the environment and make a decision. |
Stop wasting your time. Nigerians love mediocrity. We are a nation of shameless people. We should be ashamed of not having constant electricity in 2021 when countries like PALESTINE and Jordan have 24 hrs supply. We should be ashamed of the fact that Nigeria, the largest energy producer in Africa, imports oil and does not have a SINGLE functional refinery. We should be ashamed of the fact that we don't have decent roads nationwide in 2021.We should be ashamed of the fact that our academic institutions are still using books from the 60s to teach students in the digital age. We no get shame bros Resurrection212: |
Nairaland tribalist never disappoint. They turned a story about a randy artist cheating on his long-time girlfriend to yoruba vs igbo bashing. These same buffoons will then complain about racism towards blacks. As for Chioma, i have no sympathy for her. She refused to improve herself while dating Davido. Anyone with sense knows that this was bound to happen. How do you willingly date a guy that already had two baby mamas before you? If she was serious about securing his hand in marriage, she ought to have closed her legs and given him an ultimatum to marry her or leave her. She ought to have learnt from Tania Omotayo (Wizkid's ex) who abandoned the relationship rather than end up as a baby mama. She's now married with her own child. I hope all these girls who like to broke shame hustlers can now see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. |
Don't you know that the law is for the poor in this country? If the law was for everyone, all the politicians (APC & PDP) and past military heads of state would have been executed or jailed ages ago. If the law was for everyone, Ganduje's hands would have been cut off ages ago for being caught stealing. If the law was for everyone, daughters of the Northern elite would have been forced to wear hijab like everybody else and been married off at a young age. That's why corruption can never end in this country. Get rich or die trying. Dailybell: |
Nigerian men will never learn. If she can't afford to get a phone via parents/herself/relatives then she has no business being in a relationship. You ought to have seen the signs but you were blindly in love with her to use your spider sense. The fact that her exes (more than one) were always disturbing her should have been a sign. She was looking for a MAGA and she found one in you. If you had been reading the romance section on this forum in the past few years, you would have known that she was a leech. Stop dating broke girls with nothing to offer. You lots will not listen. They say that it's all about her "character". Character kill you there. People aren't smiling in this country and they are looking for someone to lift them out of poverty. I can only buy you a phone if we are married/engaged/been dating for many years and our families know each other. Nigerian men need to wise up and stop being mugs. |
No sympathy. They voted for that numbskull not once but twice. Even celebrated the "next level" movement. They insulted all the EndSars protesters in the south and called it a "conspiracy" against the North. They even pleaded for the SARS police to be deployed to the North. They mocked GEJ and called him all sorts of names despite doing more for them than for his Southern brothers (what an idiot). They supported Boko Haram at it's early stages and attacked anyone who was against it. They spent the last 6 years insulting anyone who dared criticized their "darling daddy". Now they are complaining about the monster that they have created which is consuming them. Despite all this, they will still support this Government if it decides to come out for another term. I pity them not. No sympathy from me. |
This woman is just a clout chaser to the extreme. What does her husband do for a living besides being Kanu's brother? Someone who's husband was publicly disgraced for dragging a bloody ticket with his brother's kids? I won't be surprised if Linda gave her the money as a PR stunt. Rich kids do not behave like this as it's beneath them. Even Cuppy isn't this vain. She and her husband are birds of the same feather. Living off the achievements of their siblings. |
You make a big point. It doesn't make sense to go abroad, spend millions of naira in foreign currency only to come back and come with home based graduates for Government jobs. Foreign graduates should be bringing something different to the table to set themselves apart from others. Otherwise, your degree is a waste of resources. We have too many certificate holders and not enough critical thinkers. SmartPolician: |
This is exactly why nairaland and Nigeria is a bloody joke. Someone that has not left the shores of Nigeria is comparing a 100k salary in Nigeria ($222) to a $400k salary in the U.S. (N180 million). Are you mentally okay? Do you understand what a $400k salary is in the U.S.? We are talking monthly here not per annum! This is the salary of top executives in Fortune 500 companies! Are you mad Are you okay![]() A 100k salary earner in Nigeria is barely middle class! A $400k salary is in the top 10% of salary earners in the States! Another question, what is this needless comparison with Nigeria and U.S.? Nigeria is not even better than Saudi Arabia let alone the U.S.! Stop this nonsense delusion! More than 80% of people in this country live below the poverty line yet you idiots keep comparing yourselves to countries that have a sizable middle class! You people know nothing about how country ticks! How well payed are your doctors, nurses, teachers and police compared to developed countries?? How well payed are your cleaners, refuse collectors, soldiers and scientists compared to developed countries? The aforementioned are the engine of any functional society. The fact that the above topic got over 200 likes is enough evidence that most people in this forum are ignorant, lack exposure and suffer from serious poverty of the mind! Hence why gibberish nonsense such as "I can't marry a woman who is more educated than me" or "can buy a house without informing my parents" head straight to the front page. |
You took the words right from my mouth. I cannot believe that someone who grew up in the UK can be this ignorant. Has he forgotten that in the UK, he went to school for free up to high school? Education in Germany, Scandinavia, Austria, South Korea and a few other developed countries is free for their citizens from nursery to University. Not only that, the quality of their education is of high standard. How can N4.6 million be cheap in a country where minimum wage is N30k a month? Dude is out of touch with reality. sgtponzihater1: |
