First and foremost, handsome men don't see themselves as being handsome. Others tell them so. Secondly, women are very intimidated by handsome men. Women don't like competition. A good looking guy takes away all the attention they want which is not good for their egos. Thirdly, handsome men are stereotyped as womanizers. The ignorance and delusion of many people in this country is astounding! A country that cannot even give it itself 24 hours electricity despite being the biggest energy producer in Africa! Oga, your First Lady spent half of Covid period in UAE. That alone should end any point you are trying to raise. Femi Otedola, one of the richest men in Nigeria, barely lives in the country. Yes, there are a lot of Nigerians who relocated to Nigeria from the diaspora and became succesful. That's not peculiar to Nigeria alone. Many guys I went to school with in the UK moved back to their countries of origin and are successful. It however doesn't change the fact that only a small percentage of the population is successful. It doesn't change the fact that Nigeria is one of the poorest countries in the world due to poor economic policies. It doesn't change the fact that the middle class barely exists in this country anymore.

I am not saying that everyone should japa but it is ridiculous to compare an underdeveloped country like Nigeria to the West. We aren't even on South Africa's level. In developed countries, you are entitled to benefits, loans and other incentives. In this country, you are on your own. Your family is your main source of financial support. Stop comparing apple and oranges. Stop using the success of a very small percentage of the population to cover the fact the majority are living in abject poverty.

I can't believe that this dude compared the standard of living in the west to Nigeria. :Listen up folks, i have spent most of my life in both the UK and Nigeria. Yes, the UK is very expensive country compared to Nigeria. No doubt about it. Yes, most of your income goes to the taxman. However, at least you are about to have a comfortable standard of living. In todays Nigeria, to have even a middle class standard of living, you have to be on N500k a month. Even that's not enough in Buhari's Nigeria where the current exchange rate is $1:N650. If Nigeria is so "wonderful", why are the top earners in the country resigning from their jobs and moving to Canada?

Do you know how many people in the petroleum and banking sector have quit their jobs and moved their families to Canada and the U.S.? Do you know how many doctors and nurses are leaving this country on a daily basis? Many lawyers are now taking the New York and Canadian bar exams. Many senior lawyers are complaining of a massive exodus of talent. The top 1% are increasingly snapping up citizenships of caribbean countries as a back up plan. These are the people who you would think should be enjoying the country the most. Your bloody First Lady barely lives in the country. She spends most of her time in UAE. I have not heard of any other First Lady that's not residing in her own country. Femi Otedola spends more time in the UK than Nigeria. Your boy Wizkid spends more time in the States than he does in Nigeria. Willie Obiano of Anambra state couldn't wait to move back to the U.S. after his tenure. This is despite making his money in Nigeria.

Folks, that's the reality on ground. People like OP, who was probably had a bad experience abroad, like to mislead folks in order to keep them in Nigeria. I won't be surprised if he is a Buhari/Tinubu/APC/Atiku supporter. That's their trademark. I also won't be surprised if he doesn't believe in the Lekki massacre. These lots don't want you to prosper. There are many of them like that in the country. Bosses who oppress you and tell you to forget about going anywhere while they keep balling at your expense. It's not just about the Nigerian economy. Nigerians often use poverty as an excuse for their excessive materialistic behaviour when it's just greed. Malians, Nigeriens, Chadians, Burundians are poor but they aren't as entitled as Nigerian women. As you very well know, Nigerian women abroad are also materialistic. Many of these ladies work so what's their own excuse. The problem is greed. They have been culturally imbibed to not contribute anything to a relationship but take. Even some of the men support this. OP lol, I guess that you are based in the States. Mate, you need to understand that the concept of love in Nigeria is different from the concept of love in the West. For Nigerian women, the only way you can show that you love them is by spending money on them. Relationships here is based on survival not compatibility/love. Most women see marriage as a way to escape poverty or responsibilities. They have been indoctrinated since childhood that men are meant to pamper them and they don't have to contribute anything to the relationship. The men themselves don't help matters. Trust me, if you have spent most of your life in a western society, it will be difficult for you to relate to women here. I've been there. Just take them out. That's how they will appreciate you.

I keep saying that Nigerians lack the ability to be critical thinkers. What does being single have to do with mental illness? Do you understand how mental illness works? Mental illness is a result of numerous factors such as drugs, trauma, stress or anxiety. It can happen to anyone. In fact, a lot of married women suffer from mental illness. I know! I was just being generous to the OP. N5 million is not much to have a child outside Africa. You not only need to get a visa to said destination but a transit visa as well due to the fact that the Nigerian passport is weak. We haven't included flight tickets, accommodation, living expenses, hospital bills and baby food. Birth tourism isn't for the average joe in Nigeria. You need to be at least Upper Middle Class to afford it.

OP, like most members have said, traveling to Brazil is your best option. Europe is out of the question as citizenship by birth (jus soli) is not automatic. You don't stand a chance of getting a U.S./Canadian visa as your missus is already 5 months pregnant and the pregnancy will be too visible to the visa consul. In Brazil, the whole family can attain citizenship within 2 years after birth in the country. I don't know the costs of giving birth but to be on the safe side, it's best to have a budget of N5million. That should cover everything from visa fees, flight tickets, accommodation and hospital bills. Best of luck.

The main reason why so many men in this country are single is because of the state of the economy. The present state of the economy is not favoring many young men. As a single man, it's difficult to have savings because of the rising cost of living. Which sane man wants to put himself in perdition in the name of marriage? Our parents generation enjoyed free education, low cost of living, massive job opportunities and affordable housing. What are young men of today benefiting from Nigeria? Nothing.

In this part of the world, men are expected to pay for everything. In fact, many men are expected not only to take care of their immediate family but their extended family and their wife's family. Why won't many men prefer to stay single under those conditions. Most women in this country don't want to build with a man. They keep harping about 'hypergamy'. The concept of relationships and marriage in this part of the world has been destroyed by materialism. Love doesn't exist in this part of the world. Marriage is just a poverty alleviation scheme for many. Nigerian women are looking for a messiah to rescue them from poverty. Since a lot of men have realized that women are only interested in their pockets, they go through extreme lengths to make that money and treat women, even their own wives, as nothing more than sexual objects. It is what is.

Bro, it is not delusional for men to try and be financially successful before getting married. Even though money is not everything, it is a very important ingredient in any relationship/marriage. So many marriages have collapsed simply because the man couldn't provide for his family. I have seen with my own eyes the stress married men go through simply because they couldn't settle one bill or another on time. Who has time for that? It's only those who live in the rural areas or parts of the North that can say that money isn't important. To add to my earlier post, a lot of guys keep raving about our parents getting married when they had nothing and growing as a unit. Most people here tend to forget that the cost and standard of living in our parents time is different from now. The realities of a young man in 1982 is completely different from what men in 2022 are facing. There was no social media, no android phone, no laptop and cars aren't as expensive as they are now. Back then, having a telephone in your house was a big deal. Mercedes 300 was for the few 'big boys'. Expectations were low. Furthermore, education was still free or at least very cheap. Can you compare that time to now where everyone wants to send their ward to private school as public schools have gone to blazes? Back in the day, having your own place and a car made a big boy. Today, that's the barest minimum to have as a man. Life as a young man in 2022 is not beans. This coupled with the fact that most women in this country have very unrealistic expectations on what a man should do for them is one of the many reasons why many men prefer to remain single as marriage is more beneficial to women than men.

This topic has been done to death on this forum. There are other pressing matters to talk about. However, I will list the reasons why men in this country are losing interest to settle down.

1. Economic reasons. A lot of men are not financially buoyant enough to settle down and start a family. Dating someone is different from marrying someone. Issues such as rent, transportation, feeding, school fees, pampers and baby clothes are no joke.

2. The concept of marrying ones family. In this part of the world, when you marry someone, their family becomes part of your family as well. That is a big issue. It's even a bigger issue if the woman comes from a very poor family. Wifey will expect you to take care of her siblings and parents. That situation has destroyed many men and aged them beyond their years.

3. The cost of wedding and traditional marriage. Weddings in this country aren't cheap and most women in this country pressure their men to give them their "dream wedding". It is possible to avoid that if you have an understanding woman but what about that expensive 'bride price'? So many men have been rendered bankrupt because of the numerous "lists" and demands from unscrupulous uncles and dads.

4. Cheating. I am not judgmental yeah but the rate at which women cheat in this country is something else. A woman can have four different boyfriends and her man will never know. Hence, the high rate of paternity fraud in this country.

5. Transactional relationships. Most women in this country see relationships as a mere transaction. They don't understand the concept of being in a relationship. They will bill you in exchange for sex. What kind of mentality is that? Sex is a mutual act that is beneficial to both parties. It's not only the men that enjoy sex. When you are engaged in this act, you are no different from a prostitute. At least prostitutes and escorts are blunt about what they are.

6. Your money is our money but my money is my money. I saved this point for the last. This mindset has sent so many men to their graves. In a country where minimum wage is N30k (which is not the same in every state), how can you sustain a family like that? Even if you are earning N500k a month, you cannot save money if you have to pay for everything. Only rich millionaires can afford to pay for everything buy themselves.

It is tough as a man in this country.

German citizenship can also be granted through naturalization as a rule following 8 years of residency in Germany, BUT NON-EU AND NON-SWISS CITIZENS MUST USUALLY RENOUNCE THEIR PREVIOUS CITIZENSHIP BEFORE BEING NATURALIZED IN GERMANY.

OP, as an immigration lawyer, I will give you free advice that I otherwise would have charged as consultation fees. That N7million is not as big as you think it is. If you decide to migrate to the English speaking common law countries (U.S., UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland), just know that money will finish between 6 months to a year. If you must japa, migrate to countries where citizenship is guaranteed within a space of 5 years. With a second passport, you can move back to Nigeria anytime you want. Your descendants will forever be grateful for what you have done.

The only European countries worth looking with your budget are France and Finland. Education in those countries are relatively cheap compared to most western countries and you can naturalize within a space of 5-6 years (look at their nationality laws online). Don't bother with Germany as they don't accept dual nationality and you must have a fixed amount $8,000 before you can pursue your education there. You can think outside the box and look at Latin American countries. Brazil is an ideal destination. The cost of living in that country is low compared to the West. Their nationality laws are straightforward and Brazilian passport grants you visa-free access to most western countries. You can kill two birds with one stone and set up a business in Brazil with your remaining balance. Mexico is another option. Cost of living there is cheap and it is next door to the States. You can get married to a native there and obtain your citizenship within a short period.

Overall OP, think carefully about what you plan to do. Do your research. Don't rush to do anything rash. Ignore most of the posters here telling you to make multiple "investments" in Nigeria. They don't know anything hence why they keep voting for mediocres. The country is not getting better. Nigeria has been in decline in the past 40 years. Our problems didn't start in 1999. That's the problem. There's too much fragmentation going on in the south. Yorubas from Kwara and Kogi have a different mentality to the core Yorubas. The south south is even the worst. Look at Delta alone. Itsekiris, Delta Igbo (my mum's tribe), Urhobos or Isokos. Where are they going to start? Funny enough, Benin people have more in common with Yorubas than other groups in the south. The whole thing is a mess.

There is still this tinge of suspicion, tribalism, animosity and second-guessing that goes on between both tribes. We will just have our Yoruba governments that prioritises my history and culture, and language too. Ditto the Igbos. Having our respective nations makes us go deeper into understanding who we are. I am not surprised at the Sultan's actions. It's called divide and conquer. They have mastered that tactic very well in the past 60 years. It's also why there can never be a very successful revolution or protest in the country as we are too divided along ethnic lines.

God bless u my brother. If the Yorubas and the Igbos don't unite, I can still understand cos we are quite different people. But is it not quite funny that people who share similar culture, names and even language in the East will be dividing themselves as Igbos and Niger Deltans.

Anytime I talk like this, people come for me telling me I am Igbo seeking sympathy, meanwhile I am pure Yoruba.

We too suffer some of this kind of complex as fellow brothers from Ilorin and upnorth Kwara and Okun parts of Kogi fall into this same divide-and-rule trap. I follow one man called (Omo-luka) and he explained in his channel that the Sultan of Sokoto came to Okun land to give them a staff and identify themselves as non-Yorubas. Just imagine this nonsense!
