How much did you contribute to deserve having your name included in the receipt ![]() |
Worriedwife:That was what obtained during their time. Most girls married at that age. She has been able to train ALL her children upto university level and I don't mean just anyhow kind of training o rather she trained professionals comprising of two doctors, three engineers and my humble self a Pharmacist. And as a matter of fact, she's still very healthy and enjoying the fruits of her labour right now. Same cannot be said of your own mother who probably married in her 30s. |
As an Igbo person myself, I have observed that in their pursuit of money, most Igbos indulge a lot in illegal trades such as drug peddling and all manner of fraudulent activities with IMPUNITY. They even try to justify such illegalities in a manner that would be offensive to any right-thinking person. That is the root cause of the hatred Igbos suffer in the hands of not only other tribes in Nigeria but other hitterto Nigerian allied countries. In our quest for wealth as a tribe, let us endeavor to alwy separate real industry from illegal trades which have continuously tarnished our image both locally and internationally. |
Op, topics like this are often met with sentiments and emotional reactions from Africans. However, the truth is that the Caucasians are more intellectually sound than the average black African. One of the yardsticks for measuring intellectual prowess is dept of reasoning and the whiteman scores very high in that aspect. For instance, while the whiteman thinks about how to better humanity and promote continuity of life by building a better society for himself and his unborn generations --knowing that that is better than corruptly stacking money in banks for his children and unborn generations, the blackman on the other hand would rather loot money and stack in banks for himself and his progeny. That is a reflection of poor thinking ability! |
While the Southerners, especially SE and SS understand, criticize and avoid marriage until they make money, northerners like op marry even while still poor and breed like bedbugs. With this, the north continues to grow in population and the political class use this to maintain political dominance in Nigeria. No wonder they organize mass weddings for poor people over there! |
That's what happens when a lady forces herself on a guy who isn't into her. |
akaahs:Exactly |
akaahs:Too bad. I don't just know why some of these hospitals will not employ. We have many healthcare workers who are willing to to take up jobs in Nigeria. All the government needs is to work on the management system of these hospitals by ensuring that astute and unbiased ADMINISTRATORS manage the hospitals. With good management, these hospitals will generate more than enough funds to pay any number of professionals they employ and still remit large sums to government coffers. |
Zigzagman:The so called women empowerment is one reason fraud and corruption have persisted in Nigeria because men now resort to cutting corners in order to meet up with the demands of their supposedly empowered women. |
I love Messi for his humility in fame and wealth! I've never seen Messi play rough in the pitch since he began playing football. That's one big plus he has over Ronaldo. |
When a doctor is working in an environment where he knows that there are alot of independent observers and that regulatory bodies are beaming their searchlights, such doctor would have no choice than do the right thing. That is one advantage the government hospitals have over private ones most of which operate with little or no regulation. |
idtiwo:Most private hospitals in Nigeria are even worse! I recently lost an in-law in one of such private hospitals. The man was wrongly diagnosed and treated until his condition got worse before he was referred to a government teaching hospital where the right diagnosis was done but before then things had gotten out of hands. As it is today, public hospitals especially teaching hospitals remain the best because there can be more scrutiny there if our leaders would do the right thing. Most private hospitals in Nigeria are slaughter houses where all manner of malpractices take place without checks! |
Falling sick is inevitable for everyone, if not now it could be at old age. If not you personally your loved ones could be involved. That is why it is important that we all hold our leaders to account as to getting our healthcare system functional. Health sector is one area a sensible government should never allow political games interfere with progress. |
Op, those criminal loan apps will only blackmail you if you show them that you fear their threats. Let them know you don't bleeping care who they report you to, in fact, offer to help them tell more of your contacts that you owe them. Once they realize that you are not moved by their threats, them go calm down come begin dey beg you sef to refund without interest. |
hopeforcharles:I wonder the lawful way you're talking about here, if not that some of you think you can frustrate the policy through the courts. But rest assured that that policy has come to stay. FYI, I'm not looking for any sympathy for myself because no matter how much you lots mess up our drugs supply system, my humble self will continue to excel in my practice. I only pity ignorant Nigerians you send to their early graves with drugs. However, I'll continue to advocate for full implementation of the new drug distribution guidelines because I understand the danger you lots in open markets pose to our healthcare system. Kudos to Kano state and PCN for their efforts so far. |
lexy2014:They didn't mention his name in a bid to save one of their own from embarrassment. What would punch and other news media gain from reporting the event if it didn't happen? |
chi4ik4:You must have long QT interval hence your reaction to the drug. Many drugs cause cardiac arrythmias in individuals with pathological or idiopathic QT interval prolongation. It becomes worse when you use more than one drug with such effect. This is why we've been advocating for Pharmacists to be involved in monitoring patients at every stage of drugs administration. If a clinical pharmacist had been there, he would have noticed what was happening to you and simply advise the physician to change drugs. You wouldn't have had that event nor spend the extra funds like you did. So, whenever you read or see Pharmacists clamor for advancement in their clinical practice, just know that they're doing that to protect patients from having similar experience like yours, not that they just want to be like the physician as some insecure Nigerian doctors would say. |
lexy2014:I read the story here and also in punch. A point of order was raised by another honourable member (Hon. Billy) who must have known the man before raising a point of order. |
Op, thank you for this educative article. The truth is that drug abuse and misuse has caused alot of deaths in Nigeria but many Nigerians don't know. This is why some of us advocate for stringent regulation of pharmaceutical drugs in the country by ensuring that we close down all open drug markets in the country and relocate them to a coordinated center where it'll be easier for the regulatory agencies to control these drugs.. Sales of drugs at the open markets in Nigeria constitutes a serious threat to our healthcare system and quality of life generally because in such unregulated environments, people sell these drugs to just anybody solely for profits and that is bad. Drugs are not sold just for profits! If only many Nigerians knew the dangers of indiscriminate sales and use of drugs, they'd mount pressure on government to increase regulation of pharmaceutical sector in Nigeria. It degrades our healthcare system that in the 21st century, people still sale and buy drugs in Nigeria like though they're buying "purewater", little wonder our life expectancy is one of the lowest in the world. Something needs to be done urgently to stop that anomaly. |
The rep was wrong to have dressed in that manner. You don't dress like a motor park tout in the gathering of honourable members of the house. This is why it is important to always elect well educated people into such positions. The difference is always clear. |
Why are our actors and actresses dying in this manner Could it be just because of our poor healthcare system or some kind of spiritual factors are responsible Too bad!RIP to the departed |
Tell me why people won't japa like this |
I can't see my man Chimaroke there |
hopeforcharles:Sorry, it's about what the law says. No excuses from criminal fake drugs sellers can stop the law from taking its full course. The same excuse you gave above is what you lots have been using to frustrate government's moves towards sanitizing our drug distribution system. FYI, no body is buying your excuses this time around. It is either you comply with the law or you change business! |
Meanwhile, Seun and mods of this forum should remove those irritating pictures of stained panties from here! They're disgusting to say the least. |
If you want to better understand the reason why people are working and campaigning against drug abuse, visit the nearest psychiatric hospital in your area and see human beings like you and I languishing with drug-induced mental disorders. Codeine, tramadol, cannabis, and now Nitrous oxide etc have dealt heavily with many Nigerian youths! |
Peachy14:And you didn't see any "dust" abi I don't blame foolish girls like this, I blame people like op that encourage such level of entitlement mentality from broke asz girls! Ruuuubbbbbiiiiiish! |
The consequence of believing that nothing can change in Nigeria and that it'll always be business as usual is that you'll be caught unawares and swept away by the tides of change when it comes. This is the case with operators of illegal open drug markets in Nigeria today. Government has given them enough time to prepare for relocation to a better environment where they can be easily regulated as stipulated by law, but many of them have remained adamant believing that Nigeria can never change and as such they'll always be able to bribe their way through. Even when the laws have been clearly spelt out, the ignoramuses would not do the right thing now. Some of them would prefer to go and disgrace themselves in court like they recently did in Kano where the merchants of death among them tried to alter the course of change by going to court against the federal government's gazetted law on drugs distribution and wholesales as espoused in the PCN act. The learned lawyers of the court simply threw out the suit for lack of merit. For the avoidance of doubts, the law is saying that all drugs distributors and wholesalers in Nigeria should desist from operating in open markets where quality and safety of drugs are grossly compromised and regulation made difficult, but that they are to move to coordinated markets where they can be easily regulated by government agencies such as NAFDAC, PCN, SON and NDLEA. However, as expected, those who have been benefiting from the chaotic system at the expense of people's lives are not relenting in their fight to scuttle the noble idea of government towards sanitizing the system. It is therefore important that Nigerians rarry round the federal government in this noble course. Many of us may not understand the harms that have been meted to Nigerians in the past years by these merchants of death. If you have experienced a situation where you or your loved one is being treated for an illness, yet the condition kept getting worse due to the fact that the drugs you were taking had been faked, then you need to lend your voice and demand an end to the activities of these evil men who place financial gains above human life. Many people have died while others have become bankrupt due to the evils of these merchants of death. If you visit the nearest psychiatric hospital, you'll be shocked at the number of Nigerians battling one mental illness or the other due to the many years these criminals have operated freely in the open markets. Psychoactive drugs that are meant to be used strictly on prescription by a doctor and dispensed only upon careful assessment by a pharmacist are being sold like 'pure water' in these open markets. Such drugs have addictive effects which get the abuser hooked until they mess up the mind completely. This is aside the effects they have on the other organs that metabolize and excrete them. I lost my dear dad to indiscriminate administration of drug by an unqualified 'nurse' who readily sourced drugs from operators of these open markets. I'm sure many Nigerians have lost a dear one to such quakery by people who are not supposed to come anywhere close to drugs let alone administering them. Therefore, let us all join hands and demand an urgent end to open drug markets in Nigeria! Professor Dora Akunyili (of blessed memory) placed her life on the line and faught these evil killers, and I'm sure she'll be very pleased watching from the great beyond as we are putting an end to the activities of the barons in open drug markets! #SayNoToKillingWithDrugs |
I have similar story to tell but I'll rather wait until things mature. Congrats to Dr Simi. |
That sit-at-home thing has outlived its usefulness. It is now making Igbo men and women lazier by the day much as it is taking its tolls on the education of Igbo children Igbos have to rise and revolt against that madness |
Though we may not have massively voted for Tinubu during the last election, that doesn't mean we hate him. Since providence has made him our president, it is now left for him to prove that he's the best fit for the job by providing quality leadership marked with massive developmental strides. Many Igbos are honestly desirous of a better Nigeria, not just some political interests. |
I know he'll not lose! All I care for is for him to succeed in building the Nigeria we'll be proud to birth our offsprings in. A better Nigeria for all |
