Yankee101:In fraud cases or cases where lives are not at risk most of the work is done long before prosecutors lay charges because the US can extradite from most countries. American justice is built like an iceberg. The bulk of the matter built over a considerable time lies hidden beneath. |
As usual nothing cerebral about the views and opinions about a post clearly meant to skirt what really matters about infrastructural development in Nigeria and attend to useless primordial sentiment. Once more, another proof we citizens donot bear the intellect required to develop anything meaningful of this country. Nothing to debate about, no one to discuss positive aspirations with. This forum is clearly hijacked by all that is wrong about citizen Nigeria.... hopeless. |
As long as men and women continue to marry partners who are substantially socio-economically and educationally discordant with them, this will be the result. If one is hard working and self motivated, why marry from people completely the opposite. Surely whatever they contribute to the union cannot be the purpose of marraige. You see hardworking men marrying couch potatoes.... how can this be?. ..you see upwardly mobile and enterprising women getting hitched to toyboys or so called 'bad boys' expecting such unions to work. How can? |
I like his designer, Portugese, slave trade era ankle restraints.... nifty. The NPF are really at the cutting edge of local content. |
Makavelli25:Not this Reference. I have been on my first leave this calendar year after working 5 months flat out and have rarely posted as I am dead tired. Back to work on Monday. Anyway I am completely disinterested in Covid 19 which is old news to me because I rather do prevention than lamentation, and I had ceaselessly done that since the middle of February till May. Those who will get it will get it because of ignorance. |
oteikwu16:More excited about the fact that another marquee name is coming to grace Premiership dugouts. Bielsa will surely colour next season with intriguing tactical 'chessmanship'. My dream of having all premiership clubs managed by the very best of the world is coming through. The drama goes on. |
Wow. How time flies. Remember the days of Tony Yeboah and his long range screamer that still makes the top 100 Premeirship goals of all time. |
Rilwayne001:Why wonder when you folks keep on elevating individuals above institutions. Do institutions fight each other, no. Do institutions seek to destroy each other. Nogeris is this bad today because of rhe quality of citizenship. We put these oeople in power and worse, cannot manage them and worst, cannot remove them. |
Football will ALWAYS be a team sport. Something that is lost on the Barcelona management. The success of Lionel Messi over the years has seduced them away from that fact. But now the laws are taking hold. The earlier the team is made a TEAM the shorter the post retirement wilderness experience will be, an experience that clubs who depend on dominant figures go through, whether a gaffer like an Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, or a player like Paulo Maldini of Milan, or Javier Zanetti of Inter. Individual domination is a double edged sword in the world of team play whether in the business world, corporate world, religious institutions or the sports world. |
nairavsdollars:Influence, influence, influence, that cannot be translated to good governance. What use is that. Poverty, desperation and crime everywhere. Why not try 'influencing' the powers that be towards giving Nigerians a break from this mess. |
Nothing has changed in the last 25 years since my uncle used to take me to watch Lagbaja live at Opebi. 25 years of stagnancy at best and degredation of the economy as usual. |
mightyhazell:Partial knowledge is even worse. Wet or dry, solid or liquid. Burning ALL fossil fuels will release significant amounts of carbon monoxide, consuming free oxygen required to maintain circulatory function in the process. |
yanabasee1:....and our tribalism leading to ethnic superiority.... leading to sectionalism.... leading to nepotism.... leading to corruption.... leading to suffering.... while the feudal lords dance. There is nothing to celebrate about culture and tradition in Africa. It is a curse. |
Babacele:'....if Buhari is performing below expectation...' is what has caught you out as partisan and not civil nor objective, just I was being seduced by your opinion. Alas you are just another fellow who cannot see beyond sentiments. Tell me what is better roday than it was in 2015. Just one. Whether within the election promise of this govermwnt or its manifesto or the general index of life and living. What is better today. So if we should all agree that 2015 was bad enough to change goverment the least I expect you to desire is for 2023 to come as quickly as possible to rid ourselves of this disaster of a goverment. If you cannot recognize that the further down the road we go along this 5th Republic the worse Nigeria gets then you are simply being hypocritical. |
Totally rotten. Easily the worst governed state south of the Niger and Benue. Abians must wake up from the general apathy they have towards government particularly under the Nigerian State. I know the civil war has created deep seated distrust of authority and an overwhelming sense of individualism (these wonderful people have perhaps the greatest sense of survival amongst just about any group of people in Nigeria thanks to the enormous amount of pain they had to bear) But it has to stop. No one is saying Nigeria can ever work like a real nation the way it is constituted. However charity can indeed start from home. And they should begin to rally round themsekves to create the society they wish they had. So that if it happens one day, they can continue from there. Enough of apathy towards good governance and quality leadership. |
donwily:Indeed. The body man exchanged with the devil's for the knowledge of good and evil is under an eternal curse never to be able to live forever. The one made by God out of the dust is sold out by man, never to be repossessed. The misunderstanding by mockers is that Christ came to save and restore everything. No. From the moment the earth was lost to Satan God shut down the Garden of Eden God began building another dwelling place for man. Unfortunately, our earthly, condemned bodies cannot exist there so we all have to be transformed. The only parts that go there, the parts that cannot die is the soul of man and the spirit of man redeemed by His Blood. His body broken on the cross is to do 'maintenance' on ours. His body was cannibalised to keep ours working long enough for us to fulfil His purpose for us on earth. When the purpose is done God shuts everything down. Apart from the lost souls here on earth we need to save to which God comits all His resources to, there is nothing worthwhile on earth for Him to keep His children for a minute longer. If you know any reason, please tell. |
Then what did you say mister reckless talker. A learned fellow who speaks anyhow. |
Slawormir:You watch too many movies. The basic weapon of an assasin are his hands. The meanest, baddest assasins the world have ever known have been armed with the simplest of weaponry... pen knives, box cutters, garroting wire and of course the customary vial of poison containing anything from arsenic, through anthraxbto plutonium. No freelancer will be caught dead or alive carrying masaive sniper rifle. That is a give away. The first creed of an assasin is camoflague and the first rule is to survive after the fact. Escape is not negotiable. |
I think the days of smooth sailing for politicians is dying. If you must vie for high office you must just live above board and be ready to take the heat. Less than a percent of these folks will be able to stay sane if they were in the US with the 'National Enquirer' or in the UK with 'The Sun'. Places where corruption is not as barefaced as it is here. Well someone is stealing the silver, someone is causing the widespread corruption induced poverty so why shouldn't those who are in charge be targets. If Mr. Veep is not stealing he should tell us who is. He should know and to keep silent is complicit. I can praise a politician for delivering on his mandate, for improving key indices, for sticking to his manifesto, for institutionalising goverment business, for restructuring moves, for deepening the polity, heck for even infrastructural or investment improvements.... ... but I can never vouch for a politician and criticise a fellow citizen on their behalf when it comes to accountability or issues around abuse of office anywhere in the world. It will be like trying to prove that ice is not water...just a matter of time.... just a matter of time... |
Racoon:Left to fade away quietly since the time of Donald. Parts are in disrepair. Go for the nature, the stuff God takes care of. The others.... |
Nothing left to say. Where are the cowards hailing this government....tthe hardcore fanatics and serial racists. Nowhere to be found. Nowhere to be found when the real issues affecting ordinary Nigerians arise. Yet people will still pay attention to their sordid quibbles and quote from their intellectual amd moral bankruptcy. When the real citizens of this country are fed up, they will stand up and take action. |
smallsmall:That is what are saying. After serving the monarchy of Mr. Buhari and not the public interest what makes you think it makes sense to go against the monarchy's interests. If he had served the public in a bi-partisan or non-partisan way devoid of sentiment and being fair and firm to all, the nation will be better for it and all Nigerians will be out on the streets of Nigeria and on the streets of cyberspace demanding his release. Alas neither is he clean nor did any deep cleaning so of what use is he other than an object of ridicule and a university course of study on leadership failure. Leadsrship is very easy if one is not block headed or vile. Just follow the crowd. Be on the side of the biggest numbers. But when you kowtow to a few you often lose spectacularly. |
When we say institutionalise, you say no, you want to be answerable only to a feudal lord. Now they have turned on you, you want to embark on a fast to 'draw PUBLIC sympathy', from a PUBLIC you were not serving. You are trying to draw power from a generator you are neither maintaining or have not fuelled.... how can that be. Why are these people so remarkably bone headed about how the world works.... |
Look at the schools a typical performing artist is expected to pass through. Wither Nollywood. |
Quizzed over, asked about, demanded a report. These are just semantics, questions an auditor wilk ask. Does not remotely indicate he has acted inappropriately. And for heavens sake the EFCC is an organisational tree with many branches. They can get informarion from just about any department and there will be many ready to 'whistle blow' if needed. It will be completely impossible to steal such amounts in cash and kind without anyone knowing. The problem will be bigger and run deeper than him. |
The truth is that Nigerian scammers have a terrible rep before the American public. With the FBI clearly having polished its silver for quite a while now I simply cannot see how a jury will be swayed by anything his attorneys will pull out of the hat. You wouldn't find an American who is not aware of the 'Nigerian Prince' We have over leveraged our fidelty. |
That is how leaders succeed and others fail. Partisanship, ethnicity, bigotry, feudalism, nepotism... When such a leader is up against hard times or when he has to make tough decisions his support is equally as divided as his actions. Those in power are apt to forget there will always be strength in numbers, and that collective will will always prevail no matter how long it takes, and the more you are able to unite your constituency to your cause the stronger will your position be to do whatever you like. If Magu dealt in equity, fair and firm to ALL, it will only be his good works people will speak of today but he cozied to a few at the expense of the many.... And we all know what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. |
Until we imbibe the culture of public works being the responsibility and the dividend of the public this will never change. The reason it is like this is that the country is a contractor's paradise, a contractor's garden of eden where the government comes down on the cool of the day with bags full of money to reconstruct roads. Some roads in the developed world have been existing for upwards of 50, 60 years but get a touch of maintenance EVERY WEEK UNFAILINGLY because of their importance and cost. They will notpermit a crack become a dent and a dent become a pothole, thoughtless of a gully. And who does this, public works and who owns, directs and operates public works, the public. But since independence and the Gowon era the structure of maintenance has given way to the culture of contracting and typically contractors in cahoots with corrupt civil servants desire to see infrastructure completely decay and collapse for two reasons. One, so that the contract sums are massive easily hiding any graft. And two, so they can leverage on the anguish of the public to expedite such contracts with little time for proper scrutiny. All I advice folks who commute on these roads to do is to take them over as real public responsibility and handle it themselves. Sounds odd but that is exactly how things get done permanently. |
RIP. The purists are leaving the stage one after the other. Those who played characters larger than life and created poignant reality from acting, not for penny but for passion.... now replaced by the generation for which the pound means everything who have turned reality to a show of sorts and with little skill and absolutely no other passion but that of lust are hailed as the ace performers of the generation x..... does Nigeria have anything of value left on its shores... |
These are agricultural states, these are farming communities... I say again. Let everything be done to prevent a collapse of agricultural production in northern Nigeria. It will be catastrophic. |
AffiliateHitman:Why should you list Dubai as your residence. That is what we say, basic honesty is missing. Our value system clearly says the end justifies the means which is totally wrong. Perhaps that is what eliminated your venture. I always tell young people this... What you do and where you do it doesn't really matter. What makes or breaks a man is attitude, character and value set. What makes a man successful is HOW you do it. If a man has an eye for excellence you can put him in the middle of a desert and people will fly out to meet him there. We are too desperate a people in this country for things that donot matter and it chains us to the vicious cycle of poverty. |
With all the corruption hullabaloo of ghe present times no one, absilutely no one has been made an example of serious justice to shake the tree. Even the ones rhat have tasted gaol are being treated like rockstars, their abodes turning to a mecca of some sorts. Andrew Yakubu is another opportunity for goverment to show its people its seriousness about the so called war and its determinarion to ensure the casualties are not only in its institutions but in the camp of the felons. I expect him to be convicted and sent away for the rest of his productive years on earth if we are sending a strong message against graft. |
