Temptee101:To cause you to make more informed democratic decisions at the polls and to follow up with civil pressure in ensuring leadership responsibilities are carried out appropriately. So you have taken the first right step by demonstrating righteous anger but will you follow through with the above.... So you can see that Dino is a strategic ally in waking up the citjzens of this country. So personally I do sincerely wish his vile demonstrations of oppulence is stuffed further down the throats of an increasingly hapless citizenry until the ignition point is reached.... ....just hope he has a bit more opportunity to corner our common patronage. |
China will bring an end to this world one way or the other. I hope we are free to close our borders to them considering the amount of debt we owe them just in case they want to use Nigeria as a graveyard or IDP camp for their infected populace. |
Not even his harshest critics could have imagined in late 2014 and early 2015 that by 2020 things will be this bad. I for one clearly said that at the very best progress will be superficial... how completely wrong I was. Today every index of life, living and humanity has worsened, some to catastrophic depths. I am totally baffled how a goverment can fail so spectacularly within earshot of the swearing in ceremony when the ink of ascension is yet to dry. |
Laba-laba was all over the place today as usual. Too many mediocre players to save this team from the impending relegation battle. Years of selling your best and buying okrika players is hitting home hard. |
budaatum:The Veepee is his son in the Lord. For him to take action means all channels of communication are blocked or the advice offered is not taken. Does this goverment not have a stellar record of shunning the advice of high public figures and attacking them instead. Was Bishop Kukah not villified by these leaders who are set in their ways. Do you hear the Veepee coment on any national matter anymore. This goverment certainly has closed its ears to the master citizen's whistle and its unfortunate journey is set |
HacheNoire:That was part of the report I got but I just don't want to talk about it here. There are serious problems in this country from what I am seeing. |
I received a report on the security sitiation and incidents this past week in parts of the country and what I saw was really bad, really terrifying... It appears banditry and kidnappings is assuming a coordinated dimension, what is officially termed as 'organised crime'. I think the institutions of law enforcement as we know it is about to be overrun. So many fingers in criminal activities at all levels of society. It was truly shocking. I think the international community is doing this country a serious disservice by keeping quiet about what is unfolding in Nigeria. This country is too big to fail. The consequences to the sub-region and the world will be better imagined. Everyone in Nigeria and outside who can speak up should speak up now. This govermrnt is about losing total control. |
gratiaeo:Yes. all soft tissie orfices and cavities are protected ftom small foreign objects that can cause internal damage.... to answer your embarassing addendum. God cannot be wrong. |
dominique:It should. The incident has attained the status of a global emergency and actions bu various countries borders on internal security. Whole cities have been locked down because of this resulting in losses of billions of dollars in economic value. It is no joke. It appears you donot appreciate or understand the gravity of this pandemic. Please be informed. If it hits Nigeria hard it may completely cripple what is left of our faltering economy. |
Nigerians just donot understand how democracy works. You can imagine what someone writes, how a supposedly enlightened citizen thinks. Let me summarize what democracy is: Everyone taking responsibility for everything. Nigeria has not failed because of a three lettered acronym of an organisation. |
Chapii:Are you serious.... what da heck. |
... Everyone is a Liverpool fan now... a few years ago a Liverpool thread will only exist if they played against a top four team... Now they are at the top of the four... how times change... City is the orphan this year. Perhaps Newcastle will become the fam favs if the Saudi billions roll in and results change. |
Measured response and the right thing to do when criticised by action which this incident by the US is. The points raised and the charge to Nigeria amongts other countries is of immense benefit to us in this season of our war against extremism and terror. We just wish we could do the same for migrants across our northern border. Nobody wants to fight an unending war such as ours. They just look at our plight and shudder. If we want solutions to the insurgency perhaps the US is giving us a heads up as to what is lacking and should be implemented because it is clear our govermemt doesn't know what a citizen of Nigeria looks like even if they passed them by is broad day light. May our elected and appointed officials share in the same passion, patriotism and comittment as their counterparts in the US. If they donot know how it is not a sin to have foreign experts come look at our immigration and border control establishments with a view to raising them from the dead. |
This is what I am saying about poor quality leadership. About leadership that is completely cutoff from reality and from.the citizens it governs. For the life of me I just donot understand why goverment cannot simply direct investment around opportunity it creates. Why is govement so poor in vision. On one side you have goverment looking for funds to develop the country, on the other side you have the citizens investing poorly with adverse consequences to sustainable development. Why can't goverment come up with a framework to partner with citizens in directing their little capital aright into profitable, sustainable models in line with the objectives of national development. You have Nigerians buying over a million motorbikes and kekes at well over N500,000 a piece. It that not enough capital the goverment can harvest to sort out profit based infrastructure such as refineries or power plants if the model is right and it is rightly sold to the public. If all the kekes and bikes in Lagos were to be valued I am certain it will complete at least one of the metrolines and earn the subscribers profitable income by way of joint ownership. This is the way most of the infrastructure in Europe and the States were built after World War 2 in the midst of serious economic challenges. And some if thise bonds are still yielding decades after. I have said it severally. The problem of the black man is our inherent inability to organise ourselves into viable societies, profitable groupings towards development. We have this selfish, individualistic tendency that can at best make our 10 plus 10 equate 20 while other societies operate by leverage, multiplication.of forces yielding 100 in the same space and time. |
A beggar accousts a man on the streets and the man tells him to go find a job. The beggar boycotts him. Who loses. We are neck deep in insecurity, a key reason many flee the country. We are told to strengthen our security architecture and we are angry.... Is there a depth of foolishness greater than this.... Indeed developemnt will never come to this country even if it fell like a meteorite and levelled everything from the Atlantic to the Sahara. Like the beggar we are set in our ways till the grave. |
Interesting.... My thought now are with the Veepee... And his allegiances. Will he side with the church and protest... against rhe goverment....himself ?!'@?#/?... or take sides with the goverment and order the police out with water cannon and pepper spray just incase a renegade pastor misinteprets 'since the time of John the Baptist...the kingdom of God suffe...' What does it mean to protest... against what, or whom... |
seunmsg:What is your problem about emigrating to the United States. I thought you folks say Nigeria is an utopia under the present leadership. It is folks that battle hard to change the status quo but are being persecuted I have an iota of sympaghy for. Not for those you who.... 'reinforce failure'. Please this is not your sphere of influence. You folks are not running out of Nigeria. We will stay here together and battle it out in this cage match till the last man is standing. Nigeria will not turn to Honduras or Venezuela. Thank you Mr. Trump for piling on the pressure on nations to sort themselves out. Please extend the ban. |
Godsein:Eras come and go. United can no longer atttact the best. And this viscious cycle can only be broken by outstanding coaching in sync with ambitious management. Just look at a once formidable AC Milan now considered a grave yard for washed up players and a showcase for eastern european mediocrity. Somewhere somehow I believe if United were firing on all cylinders Paul Pobga's injury crises for instance will miraculously end. |
Best news in years. Stay back and develop your country. Wish all visas could be suspended for a year. |
slam7000:In name alone. I don't think any fan today will recognize anyone of them if they sat at the President's box. |
Ha.... ol Ed has finally lost it..... 'chop him in a thousand pieces' must av hit home hard. Can't think straight again. Panic mode certainly. Indeed eras are cyclical.... just ask AC Milan. A once glorious team now filled with second rate players from third tier leagues.... imagine United signing from..... China..... |
Oga, just tell your principal to take on the pressure and act accordingly. Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility. The problem you chaps have is the time you waste looking back at the past and sideways at the competition. Just focus on delivery and if you succeed the heat will ebb away. You claim you are democrats yet these things appear strange to you. There is nothing you can do about criticism. It is one of the 'perks' of power. |
signature2012:Even God warned them about clean and unclean animals but the atheists eat everything... this is the consequence. Now everyone has to pay the penalty. Anyway some folks have said it. That China is the gateway to the end of the world as we know it. One way or the other. All we pray for is that their country becomes more democratic so that all the folks there have an opportunity to hear the gospel then the end can come. |
madridsta007:Haven't you seen the memo that UEFA is givng Arsenal special concession to play 6 additional defenders until the end of the season hoping that a matchday squad of 17 outfield players should stop the rot. They simply cannot bear to.see the Gunners out of Europe completely next season. |
These people simply donot underdtand what democracy is all about. 'WE THE PEOPLE!!!... is such a loaded 3 worded sentence... that only inteligent citizens and their leaders truly understand and make light work of organising society successfully. The writer cannot even understand that basically the military is an institution.... not a one man barbing saloon. When you read things like this (hopefully it is a work of fiction) you begin to confirm the mindset of those in authority and you come to realise why we are exactly in the place we find ourselves. I repeat again. Democracy is not a monarchy wjere society is built on the wisdom of the king and his court alone. Success in a democratic setup comes by a leader's ability to forge a consensus of positive, progressive thinking. A democratic leader is able to tap into the resources of the entire populace he leads for solutions to intractible problems. The issue of security and the arch of solutions lie far beyond what half a dozen or so of Mr. President's close confidants can muster, beyond what the two dozen security council members can handle, beyond what the 1000 or so elected officials nationwide can handle and sometimes solutions can range internationally, across borders being greater than what entire countries or continents can handle. Why should a challenge as security and this intractible insurgency be left in the hands of 6 or so men who have tried unsuccessfully for half a decade to end it.... Just amazing. What the majority of folks yearn for is simply a new direction. Nothing more. No one is after anyone. Just do something different and defy the cyclical logic of madness. For goodness sake if I had 15million people supporting me how can I then fail in any task. 15million brains behind 15 million ideas....c'mon. What is so hard in realising how democracy works....gosh. Which planet are these folks from... |
Esseite:If that is the case then it is a very dangs situation. |
sarrki:'...due to assurance he gave...' shows you don't know how democracy works. It is only in Nigeria politicians are believed and faith exercised in them. In other climes politicians are instructed onj what to do and compelled by advocacy. Their inherent qualities whatever they are are secondary. So when you go to the polls you donot elect your leaders based on what they claim to be or capable of doing but how readily they are able to comply with civil directives and draw on the power of consultation and negotiation. In other climes the most powerful component of government is the Legislature because they deal with issues regarding everyday life. The Executive by definition is the component of goverment that acts out instructions. In a business establishment, the Legislature is the admin section while the Executive is the operations section. For the head of Operations to give you assurances on any matter is just wishful thinking. And this applies to any government we had be it OBJ's, Yaradua's, GEJ's or this one. The reason we are often disappointed by the performance of government is simply bevause we donot know how it works well in a democratic set up. We are feudalists by nature in Africa. We have this mentality of one head, one king, is all and all. Democracy does not work like that. Next time elect leaders that understand democracy. There is a reason the world has largely abandoned the monarchy, dictatorships and totalitarianism. It just doesn't work. |
And it is possible that there is no representation by goverment at that event. No governor, no Rep member, no Senator, perhaps not even a Councillor. Perhaps only a DSS operative in disguise mingling with the crowd to see who will as much raise an eyebrow against the authorities he must protect. By 2022 the politicians will be back there, dancing on those graves and asking the peons to part with their votes for a penny and a pound of patty.... all sins forgiven... Nigeria we hail thee... When we the people are ready to change this country for the better, it will change. |
YorubaPrince:Yes it is Ibori, no Goodluck Jonathan, or is it OBJ, perhaps Yaradua, of course it is Abacha cos he suceeded Babangida. Maybe Shagari, Murtala or Gowon. Definitely Ironsi or Tafawa Balewa. Queen Elizabeth is the cause.... and of course Mungo Park.... maybe it started wirh Adolph Hitler... or Jack the Ripper.... It is everyone elses fault... that Nigeria today has this problem and that except those who promised twice to fix them but sadly cannot help themselves but blame others. If you promised heaven and earth to save me from a burning building but all you do is yell at me from afar asking how did I manage to set my house on fire in the first place.... why should I take you seriously. |
OcVoice:It is cruel and duhumanizing exploitation. Before you castigate the ladies remember the politicians who solicit your vote with a promise to betyer your lives and after obtaining what they want turn round and commit even more heinous crimes against the citizens.... It is exactly the same thing and we are all in agreement that such is evil and distasteful. When you prey on the weak you build a special vault for yourself in hell. No one forces you to vote nor take up that job that promised much but delivered slavery and inhumanity instead. They are all wrong. |
ogtavia:They are your representation in goverment. They are the only say you have, the only influence you have. They are your voice. The Executive comes to goverment with ITS agenda. The Legislature comes to goverment with YOUR agenda so you better get learned and stop idolatry. In every working Presidential or Parliamentary democracy citizens donot joke with or deride their Representatives. Weaken them and watch suffering dramatically rise by excess power given to the Executive. Nigerians must learn how democracy works and how it can be made to work for them. |
It is the citizens of a country that ultimately determines its fate. Nigeria is like this because of Nigerians so leadership anywhere.... is fundamentally overrated. Afterall the basic and only function of goverment is to organise society to which the leader of that country is no more than a moderator, a conductor. The party belongs to the citizens, the orchestra its people. What democracy affords is the ability to moderate the direction of society by stimulating leadership... a sort of carrot and stick situation. We give them the carrots of power and perks but hold in the other hand the whip of elections and in between, sharp criticism and torrid opposition. If they then want all the carrots and none of the stick, the donkey of leadership is going nowhere. That is why we continue to talk and talk....and beat the donkeys backside until it moves forward. Carrots alone don't make donkeys work. |
