mccloud224:@bolded: Hhmmm.... You've taken the story and made it your own without making any room for the possibility of it being false. The story might be true, I don't know. But it's important not to stamp your opinions, assumptions, deductions or perspectives as facts especially seeing that you were not there and, therefore, rely on the media to get your information just like any other person out here. |
Lol... Someone will just go online, go to some else's social media profile, pick thier pictures and come to Nairaland to share them, and others will gather to insult the person. |
The brothers, Bola and Ola Osundairo, were among seven witnesses for the prosecution. The brothers testified that Smollett directed them and paid them to stage the attack in an attempt to get media attention. To get media attention? This one is hard for me to wrap my head around. This guy has had the spotlight since he was a kid. He was in the middle of a very successful show. What kind of attention was he seeking? Sad. |
Chicago (CNN) -- Actor Jussie Smollett was found guilty Thursday on five of six felony counts of disorderly conduct for making a false report to Chicago police that he was the victim of a hate crime in January 2019, an attack prosecutors said he staged. The jury of six men and six women deliberated for more than nine hours over Wednesday and Thursday.Source: https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/09/us/jussie-smollett-trial-thursday-jury-deliberations/index.html

You hit your own husband? Yes, your husband is probably a terrible person, a Nairalander who spends most of his time in the romance section where they believe the only way to be a husband is to lord it over the woman. But now that you've decided to hit him first, who cares if he's the devil himself? And do you really need us to tell you what next to do? In Africa, they say they hit kids to correct them. And even though we know most times, adult do it out of anger, it can still be argued that it's a corrective measure. What exactly were you hoping to gain by hitting your husband? How was that going to help your marriage? You thought he'd then be afraid of you and start respecting you? He didn't react the way you expected and you still need Nairalanders to tell to apologize to your man? See, you were probably taking a lot in the marriage, but the moment you raised your hand against him was the moment you lost the argument or any sympathy you'd have had. He knows this and if anything, he's happy you finally took away his sense of guilt (which was the only thing you had going for you). For all you know, your husband could be seeing someone else now without the fear of being caught. It's good to be assertive. Say your mind but don't be the first to raise your voice (or, in this case, your hand) so that you won't lose the case before it's judged. Now, you will have to apologize regardless of the fact the he was the one that provoked you (according to you). You might as well report yourself to your family this time. #SayNoToDomesticViolence |
Eriokanmi:So if he had asked her to remove her clothes, would you say there's nothing wrong with that provided he didn't touch her? Contact or not, that girl was exploited. And if he could do this in public, only heaven knows the other things he does with helpless desperate people when no one is watching. Think about it, why subject the kid to that in the first place knowing she'd do basically anything for the money? You dangle money in front of a begger and make her do your biddings (even when the bidding is amorous) and you think it's cool to treat poor people like that? Would he still say he gave money to a begger or he paid for her services? Everyone deserves respect and making a begger do this before giving her money is exploitative. Let's call a spade a spade, brother. |
The desire for master/slave lifestyle in Africa is really sickening. Just imagine if blacks were the ones that invaded and colonized others. |
Lol... OP wasn't expecting this. Anyway, such schools offer more than academic excellence. They help ensure the rich stay connected with the rich. Such connections are referred to as the human currency and it's just as important as any other currency. |
Hypocrisy |
I have both but if I had to chose one, I wouldn't see it as a hard decision to make. My laptop is mobile and rechargeable. That settles it for me. |
SocialJustice:If only you had the slightest idea how difficult it is in US/Canada to find available talents out there especially at the top level. At my place of work, you'll get some thousands of dollars as referral bonus if you could bring in a talent for job chat (as we don't call it interview when dealing with top positions). Skill is one thing, experience is another. Most experienced skilled people are held down by the employers who would do anything to keep it that way. Besides, how many prospective executives/management staff members who usually have a lot headhunters after them would settle for an organization with this reputation? The organization may use money to entice some but they'd only end up getting those who are only after the doe. So yes, these guys can be replaced but there's no guarantee that it wouldn't take time or that the next set of people would measure up to thier competence. Whichever way, there's no pretending the organization won't feel the impact. |
Considering the positions of those that quit, I'd say he made their job impossible for them. |
Banga (simply cause I've never tasted it ) |
Tired of living a lie. Congratulations to him for finding the courage to do this. Like I've always said, gay people are all around us. They are our friends, brothers, sisters, colleagues, cousins, etc. And we love them already. If finding out they're gay would wipe out all the good things they've done for us and all the good memories we've had with them, then they're better off without us. |
Say no domestic violence. Marriage is never a do-or-die affair. If it's not working anymore, give each other some space. |
WibusJaga:There are gay animals just like they're gay humans. And just like the majority of humans are straight, most animals are straight too. So it's not a big deal you've never seen a gay one. I have seen one. And if you asked Google for assistance, you'd see many. But this line of argument is never really productive cause the same people that ask if other animals have such tendencies are the ones to shout "are you animals?!" when presented with facts. You ask this as if showing you gay animals would change your disposition but the truth is, it won't because you're not trying to make a decision based on the outcome of this comparison, you're basically looking for any comparison that supports your already knotted mindset. So you'd find something else to hold on to the moment you see gay animals. I think the bottom line is here is the need to acknowledge and appreciate differences. Different people are not enemies, they're just different. They didn't choose their fellow men, it wasn't a choice that had to make at some point. They just don't know how you'd look at a lady and find her attractive. You don't have to understand them, you just have to acknowledge and respect them as humans. ![]() |
Congratulations to the people of Chile! Say no discrimination. Freedom for all! |
Thanks. This your catfish looks dangerous though. I think that's a shark. |
White clover. You can buy the seeds here: https://www.u-buy.com.ng/product/2177U0U-outsidepride-white-dutch-clover-seed-nitro-coated-inoculated-5-lbs I don't live in Nigeria but clovers generally do well in cool/moist environments. This might make it a high maintenance plant in dry season. |
Walkee:She spent a constitutionally accepted number of years according the law. Democracy doesn't require that it must be 8 years like practiced in Nigeria, France, etc. Democracy only requires that the people directly or indirectly decide who stays in power (indirectly would be the case in Germany since the people don't elect a chancellor). Under the German constitution, there is no limit to the number of terms a chancellor can serve in office (France is probably the only country that has that in Europe). Every four years, the people decide the parliament and the parliament decides the chancellor. Asides the fact that the parliament would definitely drop the candidate as some point, the mere fact that the chancellor can easily be kicked out at any point makes the absence limits not to be a big deal in such parliamentary democracy. It's an entirely different ball game in Africa. |
You'll never really find any logical justification for homophobia. You'll only get emotional or religious responses. And that's because there's none. As for you, it's important you know sexuality as a variable is continuous and not discrete. While many people tend to accumulate towards the two ends of the scale, we still have a lot of people scattered in-between the two ends. We even have people completely off the scale. You mustn't be gay or straight. Discover yourself. Nature is extremely diverse and beautifully inconsistent. No aspect of nature is consistent, not even the concept of day and night. So it would unnatural to ever assume the more than 7 billion people on earth today were born perfectly straight. People are hardly indifferent to what they don't understand. They either fear it, hate it or adore it. This, coupled with religion, explains why the Western world introduced homophobia to Africa. Now, they know better, but if there's anything a black man fears the most, it's change. Most homophobic people are homophobic either because others are and they don't want to be social misfits or because they were told by thier religion that God hates gay people or because they aren't just sure about thier own sexuality and they feel combating gay people will somehow make them more straight. The truth is, none of these makes sense. |
Guyman02:A native doctor that cannot himself? |
slawormiir:Yeah, this happens. But it's important to point out that "those" (/ðəʊz/) and "dose" (/dəʊs/) are not in any way homophones. As you can see in the transcriptions in parenthesis, the first and last consonants are different in each word. |
KillIgbohoN0W:Wow! Crude... Some of y'all are so raw on this platform really. You both are fighting over something? |
Wow... sorry, OP. Should we say "fear men"? |
Capable enough? Lol... |
I don't know if people have the slightest idea how lies can impact a relationship even after they've been forgiven. OP, total honesty should be the only tool at your disposal now even if it doesn't get you anything. Further lies and/or manipulations wouldn't help your case. It's up to the lady to decide what she can put up with. No one is saying "fear men". Can we be giving ladies advice like this too? Acknowledge thier mistakes, criticise them where necessary, encourage and suggest a way forward to them just like I'm reading here? That would be better than "she's olosho!", "you belong to the streets", "that gender is evil", "fear women", etc. |
Globad:@bolded: Lol... you know you just had an interesting argument with yourself? He lost, and it doesn't really show anything because you'd have to know how others performed to arrive at that conclusion. ![]() |
chariisGRACE:We all have what makes us fulfilled/contented in life. I'd say you should pursue yours and not disparage others. |
TuFab:Lol... You're so raw. Enjoy your day |
TuFab:The fact that I think discrimination against people of other sexualities is unreasonable implies I must be gay, right? Your herd lifestyle is your greatest undoing as Nigerians. It's always you vs us. And you think I'd need your validation to sleep with anyone if I were gay? I'd suggest you focus on your "koko inu iwe iroyin" and leave some subjects alone. |
Seeing how diverse and beautiful imperfect nature is, some people still believe the more than 7 billion people on earth were born perfectly straight. |
