Career › Re: What Is Your Opinion On Asking People What They Earn? by InvertedHammer: 5:46pm On Dec 31, 2019
NwanyiOkpa:
Hello,

I have had friends complain that i don't tell them how much i earn even if they tell me theirs.

I personally think salary should be private, what's your opinion on this?
/
If you know what they earn, reduce it by some percentage and tell them. It will make them feel better about themselves and they will leave you alone. Most importantly, it will make you know exactly how they feel about you.

Herds mentality.

Everyone believed that Jonathan made a wilful concession call. grin grin He had no other option especially since just about everyone was fed up with his nonchalant attitude towards leadership. Can we admit that his tenure was self-serving?

He folded under pressure after Orubebe couldn't pull off a gimmick. But the narratives people chose to believe make for a good read.

Death. Bloodshed. What changed? The death you thought GEJ prevented managed to reach your backyards under Buhari. It turned out to be a choice between dying up North from Boko Haram under GEJ OR dying in your houses from herdsmen under Buhari. Death nonetheless. Go figure!

USA lied in their propaganda that Christians were being targeted by Muslims in Nigeria but just today here is an attack against Christians in USA and it is not the first.

Mass shootings in USA has become a daily occurrence yet same USA claims Africa is not safe.

Records show that USA has the highest number of mass killings but it is Nigeria or Africa that is not safe.

Okay o

It is high time Africa countries began issuing travel warnings to her citizens against going to USA

You do understand that it is all about economy.
No matter the level of travel warnings, Nigerians will still give Thanksgiving on being issued American visa. Who pass you pass you.
Do you know there are countries that are visa exempt to US and other developed nations? Look closer and you will know why. Wanna be indifferent to US? Grow your economy! Until then, enjoy your fantasy. You are trying to negotiate from a position of weakness. grin

They will not disband SARS. Police officers kill people in US extrajudicially every year. What do the people do? They riot and turn the city upside down. The politicians are then forced to react.
What do you do when SARS kill people? Everyone runs online to groan like a tiger. SARS will be disbanded the day Nigerians react extremely to the menace of SARS. Action is respected in Nigeria. The docility of Nigerians is what makes them the footmat of every authority. If SARS killed the lad in Benin and the people meted jungle justice on them, the other SARS members will take note because they want to go back alive to their families as well.

Arrest and prosecute (with evidence).

Firearms can be used if there is a deadly threat to operatives and not even to de-escalate a situation.

Apparently Nigeria is a jungle. Folks need to do whatever is necessary to survive till sanity returns. SARS don't want to see flashy cars, iphones, dreads, tattoos? Then get those things away from you. What point are you trying to prove when murdered in a cold blood and there is no justice in sight?

Those who stubbornly chose not to read the handwriting on the wall will definitely end up as victims of SARS extortion or murder. How long will people keep typing #EndSARS? It is the situation you found yourself in. Find ways to live through it.

NB: Don't think I will bat an eyelid if any of the nincompoops typing "dodorima" or whatever get killed by SARS.

Nigeria is comprised of 36 States including FCT.

A man owing mallam N50 and mama Fumi buka N100 still has a total debt of N150. Whether itemized or not, it is what it is.

OBJ stated N24.74Trillion. DMO stated (N8.3T + 17.3T) for total of N25.6Trillion.

Therefore, the entity called Nigeria has a debt profile of N25.6Trillion. Foreign or Domestic doesn't mean a thing.

It is still some debts that must be serviced.

Why not send the bodies to Daddy G.O so that he can resurrect them? Or they only perform miracles when the beneficiary is an unverifiable stranger? It takes scenarios like this to expose the shenanigans of pastors. Are they special people that speak directly to God? I doubt it. They are stealing in the name of God which is why the wife couldn't wait for Almighty God to send down fire and brimstone to annihilate the perpetrators. Instead she is searching for justice in a court manned by mortals.

Religion is a BIG SCAM. It is an opium of the feeble-minded. No amount of denial can negate the truth.

Chef2000:
I don't know why but I keep seeing this guy in my dreams, though we were so close when he was alive (we usually go to set trap for bushmeat when the two of us return to the village when he was alive)

Before his death (a truck hit him and he died at the spot) I had a dream and I saw the two of us walking on the road, I hit my feet on a stone and fell down and he was unable to lift me up and I was asking him to lift me up but he was unable.

He died in June 2018 since then I have been having dreams about him which I do forget immediately I woke up.

But last week, I saw the two of us clearing weed in a farm and this morning I had another dream where we (his junior bro and my elder bro) were laughing and joking together, eating and drinking together.... he later went and wore my clothe in the dream, he wore the inner side of the clothe..

Could this be a message or a coincidence.

Pay no heed to the dream. It means nothing. Your mind is playing tricks on you.

Sports › Re: Sadio Mane's Phone With Cracked Screen Shocks Fans (Photos) by InvertedHammer: 4:35pm On Dec 29, 2019
ackim:
Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane was pictured with a phone that has a cracked screen.

Many fans have questioned why Mane who is among the top earners at Liverpool is using that type of phone.

Well, others have argued that he's a humble footballer who prefers to spend his money on his philanthropic works rather than luxury lifestyle.

Speaking with nsemwoha.com, Sadio Mane opened up on why he prefers to spend a big part of his earnings on charity in his homeland.

"Why would I want ten Ferraris, twenty diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world?

"I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I win thanks to football, I can help my people.

Stunning both on and off the pitch:

"I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy.

"I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me."

Nobody's more down-to-earth than Sadio. A top player always stays humble and remembers his roots.

It is always poor people that define themselves by such stupid things as phones.

When a student is carrying iphone 11, it is obvious that there is a greater force at play than village people.

Family › Re: My Husband Beat Me On Christmas Day by InvertedHammer: 3:38pm On Dec 29, 2019
Mrsprissy:
Good evening my brothers and sisters in the house. First , I am not a troll . I've been a member on NL since 2008 and am very active, but I prefer using a new account for my story to seek advice and also learn from other experienced people in this great group.

On christmas day hubby and I were invited to attend a special dinner at his friend's house and I picked a nice outfit for him to wear on the day, he wore another outfit, a t shirt and jeans his every day clothes so I asked him politely to go and change, he got angry at me and told me to keep quiet and he went inside.

He was in our room for an hour while the kids and I were still waiting for him, I even sent the kids in their room to play, he later came out he only changed his top but didn't changed the trousers and trainers. I had decided not to say anything for peace to reign, so as we were leaving, I asked him if we could take a family picture, he just snapped and slapped me and started beating me up so badly, he only stopped because my children were screaming and crying for him to stop.

I am so pained because before the incident happened, we were fine, no quarrel at all, I just don't understand his reasons for beating me like this and I swear to God, I didn't say something to make him this angry, he left me there and went out, his friend later called to know if we were still coming because he couldn't reach hubby on the phone, I told him we are coming.

I cleaned myself, changed my clothes and I left with the kids to his friend's house, to my surprise he was already there, we acted like everything was normal and I tried hard to stop tears coming because I was in pained.

For the past 3 days he has been acting as if I did wronged him, he doesn't talk to me, he doesn't eat my foods and he left the room and he is now sleeping in our son's room. I just don't know what to do again
/
In a case like this, I expect women to leave 90% of the pertinent details. After all, it is all about soliciting for emotional support.

Why would you tell a grown man to go and change as if he is your little kid? You were very disrespectful. Remember....it is not always what we say but how we say it.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Why France Kidnapped West Africa’s Eco Currency by InvertedHammer: 3:04pm On Dec 28, 2019
fairfora:
Our main problem is perpetual stooge we have subjected ourselves to in the hands of the so-called Great Britain, the world's renown parasite. Since the beginning of the insurgency, France has played major roles in curbing their activities with less efforts from the british people. Some of their doctors ( Doctore without Borders) were abducted and even killed by boko haram. The last time I checked, their court slammed a huge sum which could deplete our foreign reserves overnight as penalty or damages in the case of P and ID. France would never have allowed this injustice to be done to any of their colonies

I think our leaders, both past and present are selfish. Immediately after independence, we have failed to adopt french as a second official language, sticking only to english. In Europe, hardly would you find a country who doesn't speak English, including france though they have always preferred speaking their language. I was in Germany some years back and there I met a guy at the airport. I asked him for a direction to where I was going as a taxi guy but he pretended as if he didn't understand English. Later he came to meet me and began speaking fluently...and that's the way an average german behaves. They may not like speaking english but the majority of them understand and speak well.

Being bi-lingual as a nation brings about even and speedy development. If you speak my languages, I'd deal with you in all eagerness and fairness...its normal but the reverse is the case with British. They are haters and unwilling to help especially in an area where they feel they can't see anything to eat. Our politicians loaded their banks with looted money from and they're busy doing business with it. Whenever our country makes any move to bring the money back home, they come up with stiff conditions which would end our country parting away almost half of the money.

I hope the French language learned in most private schools is sustained. We need to break this jinx of one language which is english. Hardly would you visit a francophone country and see learned people who do not understand English and that's where they have an edge overseas over us...in football clubs, in schools, fashion or show biz and wherever they find themselves...they always thrive and adapt easily.
Whereas, their anglophone counterparts would have to enrol in a french school to pick up. Amazingly, french and Spanish are very similar so anybody from a fanconphone country can easily understand Spanish when spoken. It brings about ease of doing business internationally without barriers.

The ECO issue wouldn't have been there in the first place, had our government adopted French a subject from day one in our public schools as a second official language for the sake of economic integration of our region . This is why I've always faulted the amalgamation of 1914, which we are not finding difficult to repeal even years after it's expiry. All the franco phone countries in west Africa put together, ate not up to the Nigerian population but are far better in development than we are as a nation. They are well-organised with less issues of insecurity and corruption. The amalgamation was put there by the British to keep enslaving us. I hope this is repealed someday.
/
The main problem is that you can get the best brain in Africa, teach him Economics up to Ph.D level and as far as they hand him over a blueprint within which framework to operate, he will seem a genius. But take him outside the confine of the blueprint and challenge his critical thinking abilities, it becomes obvious that he is a tabula rasa. Our professors are professional beggars looking for educational grants from developed nations to use in buying latest cars in town. How do you expect any breakthrough from such nonentities?
