Very valid point.
I’m not an authority on writing matters but I think Joromi 12 is right.

Writing does require a lot of attention and practice. The tone must be formal except when writing informal letters. Some words aren't acceptable in formal writing. Jay E2 has a YouTube on this.

Paraphrasing is also very necessary. You can’t use the same words in the question over and over again. My essay topic was about Violence among young people being caused by parents spending long hours at work. While writing my introduction, I used Juvenile Delinquency to replace Violence among young people. In another paragraph, when I needed to make reference to it I used delinquent youths. Instead of salary, I used remuneration. I used different synonyms for the same word/phrase.

Then, paragraph structure is crucial.. Your thought process must flow. Put yourself in the reader’s shoes. You don’t want to read a disjointed essay. Prepare your ideas on the question paper first before you start writing. That way, you can decide which idea should come before the other. In each paragraph, the first sentence should introduce your idea starting with a linking phrase like Firstly, In addition, Furthermore etc.
2nd&3rd sentence should explain the idea (what, how, why) you can use examples for this. Phrases like, For instance, For example etc. The examples don’t have to be true, be creative. In my essay, I created a story about a research by an American Child Psychologist, John S. (I don’t know any John S. sef) and what he findings were to support my idea. The psychologist and his research were created in my head that day. grin
3rd/4th sentence should conclude the idea or show what the idea leads to. Phrases like, “As a result” can be used here.

I don’t want to derail the thread too much; my suggestion to IELTS takers, read ielts made easy pdf cover to cover if you can and watch Jays tips on YouTube. There’s a Cambridge book that has a range of vocabularies for the different sections from which essays are created and sample Band 9 essays. (I can’t remember the name and my laptop isn’t with me atm. Unfortunately, the materials aren’t on my phone). Ask for help from people around you. I understand we don’t want people knowing our plans but sometimes being too secretive does more harm than good. I got materials from my colleagues taking PLAB etc.
If I had kept my plans to myself, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten all their ideas, tips and materials.

Finally, may we obtain all our good heart desires.
God bless..

I cant agree less.

IETLS is a game of synonyms. Both reading o, writing, listening. Speaking too. Of course amongst other requirements.

It will end in praise for us all.

Joromi12:
but she passed na lol. Jay e2 is a phd student/ holder in english. He had 7.5 twice and 8.5. Writing is a skill most of us rarely use because there is auto correct and gramarly . If you check the marking criteria for writing you would see the reason for 7. My friend wrote 3 times in nigeria and wrote once in the USA she had 6.5 in writing all through.
Very valid point.

LOGAN TI O DE!!!!!

Decision to travel 2017, my husband (PA) wrote IELTS in 2017 and had 6.5 in listening didn't really know much about express entry then he got a job in the UK and we exed Canada and focused on UK. UK now came with their wahala and increased the salary scale for sponsorship and the company couldn't afford the new salary scale, so we exed the whole process and continued with our lives.

Later in the year, I told my husband to let's continue with this our Canada runs o, then I found this thread and started reading from part 1 and registered in part 3. Then in 2018, IELTS struggle began. He wrote IELTS 6 times and even missed an exam because we applied for UK visa and passport wasn't ready before the exam. We called and mailed British Council, but they were not able to help. Chai 68k just like that.

ECA: this was pretty straightforward for us because we evaluated our UK masters degree with WES and it was ready within one month

IELTS: My husband wrote the exam 6 times. We remarked some (BC and Mod) and it came back unchanged. Even though I didn't write, my husband practised with different videos on YouTube and some materials on British Council website few days to the exam.

POF: hmmmm, all I can say is that God showed up. POF was fixed deposit certificate only from first bank. We supported it with screenshot of the exchange rate using XE and we added a summary table of our pof.
No letter in CIC format, no statement of account, no letter of indebtedness, just the fixed deposit certificate.
I was also worried because our fixed deposit was for one year(November) and our medicals expires October 2019 and there was a huge discussion regarding this, but God came through. This pof Ehn, almost every time I want to make payment, mall or delivery, I mostly say pof instead of pos grin grin

work reference:this was also straightforward. reference letter(to whom) in CIC format, ID, 6months payslip
NB: my husband resigned December 2018, so we raised CSE. He resumed with another company in April but we didn't notify cic.

BIOMETRICS:
biometrics was after 32days and we completed it January 3. The server was down and we spent almost 3 hours. Only for me to check our profile and realised that my name was misspelt (village people), so I raised CSE and it was corrected after 3wks or so

PCC: my husbands colleague linked us with one inspector like that (a lady). I told my husband that we should use inspector Moshood o, he didn't answer. OK, ask for the price at least we'll know how much to budget before we get there, Oga no answer and I kept quiet. Na so this inspector bill us 15k(7500 each) after we finished. She sha collected 14k. I was so pained.

Our UK PCC was very straightforward. My husband schooled in Scotland, we used same UK PCC for Scotland placeholder.

MEDICALS: we used children practice, everything went well. God bless the guy that swapped dates with me. God bless you real good. (was scared because I felt my blood sample was darker than others grin grin). This journey can make you think plenty things.

We were trusting and praying that our PPR comes in 60days (January) because we didn't want to pay rent in March, pof will reduce but will still be above the required amount. But God's time is always the best. We moved our pof from first bank to arm (no cse raised) because interest made more sense and we can always withdraw the interest at will.

Also, my location on Facebook was UK, I had to edit it. My business page (justwigsng) on instagram can also be linked to my personal page, had to edit it because I didn't mention it (even though I wasn't the PA). Was just trying to be safe.

The waiting is really a test of patience, especially when you can do nothing about it. I checked our profile everyday
Raised CSE weekly when we hit 4 months.
There was even a time they responded that our file has been transferred to Nova Scotia. Called them the following day (9/4/2019) and was told it's still in Ottawa and criminality, background checks and eligibility in progress, security not started.

We raised another CSE and was told eligibility hasn't begun , same thing we were told when we called. CSE can confuse with their responses sha.

POST 6 MONTHS

Anyways sha, we decided to mail Ralph but we got an automated response. An idea struck and we decided to mail another MP, we mailed Ziad Aboultaif and Randy Boissonnault MPs for Edmonton (since we're settling there) and Ziad replied that our file is in for final review, while Randy replied that he'll contact ircc and get back to us. So, I think other MPs can also help with the status of our application, please let's wait till after 6months o.

We sha called them again after we got ghost update and we were told that criminality and eligibility passed while security is yet to start (I doubted it sha grin). I was so excited because eligibility is one of the biggest hurdles of this process. The agent also told us if we don't get an update on or before June 15, he'll send a reminder mail to the case officer Abi analyst de ni grin. We got another ghost update yesterday evening and woke up to the mail this morning. I can't explain the feeling.

Decision to Migrate
In 2015 I was contemplating doing my masters in Canada because of the prospects for international students and the opportunity to stay back and work after graduation. However, I didn’t have the resources to pursue that dream. Later that year with the help of my family, I came up with the funds and since I had relatives in the UK who could assist with accommodation, I decided the UK was a better option as the financial implication seemed quite less in comparison to Canada.

Immediately after graduation, I did all I could to get a Job and switch my Tier 4 visa to a Tier 2 visa but it didn’t happen. While I got some good offers, none was willing to offer me a Tier 2 sponsorship and as such I had to turn down job offers.

When the time finally drew near for me to return to Nigeria, I decided I had to give express entry a shot. That decision was definitely worth it. I finally started the process in August 2018.

ECA
The decision on which evaluation body to use wasn’t a hard one, all thanks to @Mcstan18, @smslive2, @elfmanisback and a couple of others who responded when I asked. I only evaluated my Masters degree. It took just 45 days to complete.

IELTS
I have always been an avid reader on nairaland and it has always provided me with a rich source of information. First thing I did was to gather as much information I needed to start the process and then I simulated my CRS score. One thing was certain; I had to ace IELTS on the first attempt. There was no room for failure, I had very limited resources and couldn’t afford to pay for IELTS more than once.

After simulating my score with different variables I gave myself a target score of LRWS 8.5,8.0,7.5,7.5. Writing was the most dreadful module; I had seen so many people who fell short by just 0.5.

I started practicing; I downloaded every bit of material I could find but IELTSLiz was my favourite. My practice strategy was to use my spare time at the office to practice. For writing all I did was read sample Band 9 essays I copied from www.ielts-exam.net. Tbh, I think I spent more time just staring at the writing samples anytime I was bored than actually writing.

Finally sat for IELTS on December 15th 2018 and aced it.

EE Profile
I created my profile on January 9th 2019 with a CRS score of 448. There was a draw on that day but it was 449. On January 14th 2019 I received an EOI Letter from Ontario; I prayed I would get ITA in the next draw as I didn’t want to spend so much going through the PNP route.

I would like to add that I created a folder on my PC called Canada EE and had a folder for every major placeholder on the CIC account. I found it really helpul in keeping my documents organised and preventing any error submission.

ITA
As God would have it I received ITA on January 23rd 2019. I was elated that the application journey was about to begin.

PCC
I obtained my UK PCC and Nigerian PCC. Both were pretty straightforward. For the Nigerian PCC, Inspector Moshood made the entire process very simple and fast.

Medicals
I called Qlife immediately I got ITA and the earliest appointement date was March 1st 2019. There were quite a lot of people on that day, but suffice it to say that everything went well.

POF
My POF was all lodged with my bank in the UK. I had mailed them asking if I could get a letter of non-indebtedness but they got back saying they no longer offered that service. I searched on NL to find anyone who had used funds in a UK bank for their POF and how they went about it. I found @Fyorgn and she was really helpful. I ended up submitting only my online statement and attached a LOE explaining why that was all I could provide.

Letter of reference/NOC
I wanted a very simple application and didn’t want to combine NOC’s. So I decided to use my NYSC work experience, all thanks to @Glitteringstar and a host of others who shared in their PPR script.

Then the decision on which NOC was the best fit and our amiable @Newmum0615 was indeed a blessing to me. We exchanged a couple of mails and voila she had helped me with my Job description. I typed it, sent it to my Boss and he got it signed, stamped and printed on the official letter head.

That was all I submitted, No pay slips, nothing else.

PPR
I received a Ghost Update in the early hours of May 16th. I checked my account that morning but nothing was there. It just had “Updated” but nothing had changed.

On the 22nd when I got home I decided to check my CIC account again, Lo and behold the request letter dated May 16th had been sitting comfortably in my account.
I then checked my mailbox and realized I got two mails from CIC on May 16th. Apparently the second mail came with PPR.

Appreciation
I would like to appreciate everyone who has contributed in one way or the other on the Express Entry Threads from Part 1 to Part 8. You all are the true blessings. slushy:
Please I need help with proving work experience.

1. I intend to add my NYSC experience. I was an accountant. I will really appreciate getting a sample of a letter from someone that used accounting experience describing the accounting duties (under the correct NOC)

2. How do I prove the NySC allawee? My PPA paid in cash. Is using my nysc 19800 bank statement enough?
Thank you guys for all your help. See you in the promised land.

1. You have to state your specific duties as an accountant in the reference letter to be provided by your PPA. The best is to get a sample reference letter which you will adopt into writing yours. See a sample here.

2. Get your PPA to include in your reference letter that you were paid in cash. Also indicate that you were paid Federal allowance of 19,800 under the support of the Federal Government.

I got so many pms on cash salary certificate. So I decided to provide a sample of what I submitted. If your company agrees to give you, print it on a letterhead, sign and stamp.

But note my circumstance, I was paid in cash, have no payslips, the work experience was from 2014 to 2015 and since I left the country, I closed the bank account where I deposited the cash so I can't even print it. If you have the reference in IRCC format and it indicates you were paid in cash, you might not need anything else. I just added the salary certificate in place of payslips to prevent ADR and if ADR still comes, I would attach it again with an LOE.

DECISION TO RUN
....the minute I returned to Nigeria from my masters in the UK in 2017. The pressure to go back for a PhD was high, but I wasn't going to let them turn me to a psycho. My masters was intense, hence, I needed a break. angry

Sooo I considered Australian visa 476 and the Australian PR, changed my mind. Next was Netherlands work year visa for graduates from the top 200 universities in the world to gain work experience. It's a 1year visa, but I was willing to give it a shot. Started gathering documents, but not wholeheartedly. Worse still, the people on that Netherlands student thread are sooo stingy with info....it would have taken me 3yrs to land in Netherlands.

Meanwhile, I knew about express entry somehow but thought I wasn't eligible cos I was a Graduate Trainee then, which wasn't a full time role. Also, where the hell was I gonna get POF from? (POF isn't required for the Netherlands work year visa). Still read page 1 and updates in my free time, but was scared of asking questions.

Finally gathered courage and asked the stupid question in July 2018 in Part 4 and got the shocker of my life...I was very eligible, infact, my NYSC experience was more than sufficient!!! WHAT The second shocker was the info on gift deed for POF! So why did I now come back to this Nigeria? Ohhh ignorance indeed is bliss...I sha followed alllll the Canadian express entry threads from Part 1 and my journey began.

ECA
Used WES, no WAEC requirement then. Considered evaluating my BSc for future purposes...those ones told me transcript is now 21k (flew from 8k I paid prior to my MSc), then posting outside Nigeria 15k...wonderful. Plus the stress I'd go through, didn't want any delay. Respected myself and evaluated only my Masters at £12, the future will take care of itself.

IELTS
I'm a very lazy writer, so my fear was writing. Observed you score less in the section you're most scared of (using my myself and friends as reference). Having written IELTS academic before (which is tougher than general), I knew whats up.

Concentrated on actually "writing" complete letters and essays before the exams, not just reading through....felt satisfied with my writing on exam day compared to my performance in the academic. So I was shocked when my result for writing was a 6.5....went with my gut feeling and requested for a remark. Remark returned positive after 5weeks.

By the way, I registered with MOD which I discovered and heard for the first time on this thread. BC was fully booked as usual.

POF
Was worried this wasn't available pre-ITA as one Uncle laidat I was hoping on kept giving me tales by moonlight. Later confirmed by reading through this thread that it was okay to have the POF in your account post ITA, as long as it was before the 60days deadline. Entered the pool asap and continued gathering docs while waiting for this story-telling Uncle.

Anyways, my mum came to the rescue and gifted me 100% of the POF (had to wait for her TBills to mature). Still had 700k jara in my savings account to give it flesh, so CIC won't think I don't have my own money. tongue Invested the total sum in TBills for 3months, then duplicated @Newmum0615's LOE like a lifeline in explaining my source of funds. Sent back to her to proofread and she was like, this looks so much like mine grin (hehe, this woman thinks I came to play in this Canada struggle).

Ensured I didnt hide nothing, included gift deed (sample from page 1), transfer slip showing transfer from my mum, Tbills certificate, generic bank reference letter and 6months account statement printed 4 days before AOR.

NB - reinvested matured Tbills in fixed deposit early March... no CSE raised.

JOB reference
I switched roles within the same company, so was confused about combining two very seperate NOCs then (I hear it's possible for outland applicants as long as they fall in NOC 0, A or B). Sha used only one NOC, 2yrs experience (1year graduate trainee experience pre-MSc and 1 year graduate trainee experience post-MSc)...this was sufficient to get CRS of 456. No need complicating stuff, though the additional experience in the other NOC wldve shot up my CRS to 481.

Job reference was in CIC format drafted by me with go ahead from my boss. @Newmum0615 (this woman is God sent) helped edit the draft which I printed and gave to my boss to sign, not HR. My boss asked for the soft copy for her future use. grin grin

No payslips, no employment letter, no nothing... Just that one beautiful letter in CIC format listing my roles in the company.

MEDICALS
Funny I planned to complete mine at Prime Medicals in PH. This was no longer possible when I was due to carry out medicals, evidence that the process was getting tighter.

Booked ahead with Qlife late Sept way before ITA. Remember shaking my head in disbelieve when I was told the next available date was 9 Nov 2018 - booked this. Called early October to check if there was an earlier date since I was in Lagos and was told the next available date was March 2019. Dropped the call and hissed...they must be mad. Patiently waited till 9 Nov.

PCC
UK PCC was ready in 3days. Used my sister's address for hard copy, she scanned and sent the soft copy. Used Inspect Moshood for Nigerian PCC @3500 (discovered him on this thread as well). He sent the forms to my email which I filled, thumb printed were applicable and sent back to him.

POST-AOR
Thankfully, I got busy settling into my new job, so forgot about my application throughout December. Said I wasnt going to bother with gcms notes, CSEs or nothing. However, BIL/MEP came longer than expected, got curious and started checking progress of other Dec AORs on immitracker. I relaxed when I observed others hadn't gotten as well.

Later saw a rejection case mid January on immitracker (forgotten cause of rejection) Shuuuuu...I started worrying and included my application in my prayer point that my file was covered from going to AVO (sorry AVO guys). Raised my first CSE on 17 Feb to enquire about my VO and stylishly asked about status of application. Was surprised to get feedback on 19 Feb...VO was Ottawa, eligibility was being verified. Was so happy, dropped a huge amount in St. Vincent's 'help the poor" box the next Sunday.

PPR
Still on immitracker, noticed late DEC AORs were already getting PPR mid February...ok na. Started checking my gmail daily and CIC account once a week. Even took interest in my spam and deleted all spam "forever" after a thorough check.

Come March, number of PPRs for Dec AORs on immitracker increased. Doubled my CIC account weekly checks and increased gmail checks to 3 times a day grin My efforts were not in vain, saw the first ghost update on 16 March (application/profile update but no mail). Raised a CSE on 17 March enquiring what the update was about and stylishly asked for update on application as well.

Got a reply on 20 March that they can confirm a decision had been made on my application and I should be rest assured that I'd get a mail soon. Jesu!!! Quickly said a prayer for the Agent that sent that mail...God bless him. I then raaaaan to my gmail...nothing. Spam..nothing. Refreshed twice...nothing. Then checked my CIC account out of curiosity and saw the 2nd ghost update - 20 March.

Was certain of getting PPR in March. Saw the golden mail yesterday morning and just shouted yaaaasss. Called in sick and went to work an hour late. Gave me sufficient time to re-read the mail 10times and make my announcements to family and close friends. When I got to work, greeted every single person I passed from the gate down to the office....stranger or not. The joy got me in another mood.

To everyone on this thread....
Thanks for contributing on a daily and answering all the stupid questions, saved me a whole lotta money! Did I mention I looked for an agent's trouble and was told to pay $3000? I keep getting emails from them with varying discounts till date (if they like, they should discount till $100)

@newmum0615 thanks for making yourself available when I and others needed it most, you're appreciated. We'll meet someday in Canada, that I'm sure. A Nairaland party perhaps shocked

To new hopefuls...please read page 1 and understand the process first. Again, there's so much information on this thread. Screenshot useful info for reference even when you don't need it yet, it helped me a whole lot. Stop waiting or procrastinating...do it now!

Phew.....thanks for reading!

To new hopefuls...please read page 1 and understand the process first. Again, there's so much information on this thread. Screenshot useful info for reference even when you don't need it yet, it helped me a whole lot. Stop waiting or procrastinating...do it now!

Phew.....thanks for reading!

Thanks for this. I wanted to do this myself, but my fear is POF, even if I sell all my property, I can only raise half of it. I've read and reread this thread that I know all process by heart. I even know pass agent.
Please, I'm raising pof for a family of 3, biko how does Tbills work? Can I send you a mail?

Congratulations

Hi guys and gals, it's COPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still can't believe it. COPR dey my hand! The packaging alone o...very sexy. Me likey. God has been so goooooood.

My timeline below:
Decision to Migrate: Since I started thinking independently, finally took the bull by the horns January 2018
IELTS: Feb 10, 2018 LRSW - 9 9 7.5 7.5
ECA: WES March 26,2018 (Bachelors degree)
Dive into the Pool: March 26, 2018 CRS - 420
Birthday: CRS - 415 cry cry cry cry
TEF: October 10, 2018 CO CE EO EE - 256(B2) 227(B2) 346(B2) 327(B2) (CRS 457 coolcool)
ITA: December 12, 2018
AOR: December 14, 2018

Biometrics Updated: January 25, 2019

Family of 5

PPR testimonies have always inspired me. I'm not one for many words but here goes:

As my moniker implies grin, I've never felt at home in this country. When I finally wanted to do something about it, hubby was a diehard naija fan. Even when we heard of express entry in 2015, he always used to say naija will get better, no need to leave. Not until December of 2017, business was looking bleak...he finally saw the light. Yay!!! gringringringringringringrin

Luckily, while doing research on the process, I came across this thread, and y'all have been Godsent. Even though I may not have really asked many questions, I found most (if not all) my answers by going through the thread which I joined in Part 3. So, kudos to y'all!!! Na God go bless all of una!

IELTS: I used the materials recommended here to practise before the exam. By the special grace of God, with my scores, I got the maximum language points, yay!!!

ECA: This was a breeze because my school processes transcripts online and they're quite efficient (Greatest Lions and Lionesses!!! coolcoolcoolcool). Special thanks to @einsteino for outlining the steps for verification. It saved me a lot of headache and also N10k because I think I would have paid for both certificate and transcript verification.

We also evaluated hubby's degree with WES (same school) and we got maximum points from his IELTS.

Then, we started waiting. Our CRS was 420. We were hoping for CRS cut-off to drop as low as it did in 2017. At the same time though, we were also looking for a way to improve our score which is why I decided to take the TEF. While I was preparing for the exam, I had a birthday in July and lost 5 points but all glory to God, the exam was a success and my scores were just enough to push my CRS from 415 to 457. Somebody shout Alleluyah!!!!

TEF: I have already outlined some tips to learn french easily and my experience on the exam day on the TEF thread. If you feel you can learn french, I highly recommend doing so. Besides the additional points you can get, it also gives you an edge in PNP from provinces like Ontario and Nova Scotia if the said points are not enough to bring your CRS to the required levels. For those interested in writing the french exam, you'll find more than enough resources there (from french gurus I might add wink) to help you get started. Words can't express how grateful I am to my TEF family (I don't want to call names - I don't want to omit anybody like some people did at the Oscars grin, y'all know yourselves kisskisskiss). They have been a constant source of inspiration and motivation to me. I pray for constant breakthrough for y'all, be it in TEF/TCF, processing of your application, or settling in Canada eventually.
I must also thank @Tojued (congrats on your PPR!), @Fuzzyman, @rs172 and @sunvick. I still remember when I asked for tips on learning french here and all your suggestions were helpful. I pray that help will always come to you when you need it, no matter how small.

Medicals: After writing the TEF exam, we booked for medicals at Qlife just in case. We had to cancel it though, because when the TEF result came out, we then felt our appointment date in December was too far embarassed - beggar became a chooser hehehe. Did medicals Nov 30, 2018 at IOM. Did PCC same day as well at Alagbon. We just walked in.

We declared one US visa refusal 2 years ago.

work experience (gehn gehn gehn undecided): I am self-employed and to be honest, gathering the documents gave me serious cause for concern. There's a lot of divergent information online (to me anyway) on which documents to submit for self-employed work experience. Choosing NOC alone sef was a problem, I changed it three times before I settled for 0911. Then the format for the reference letters was another issue, but I'm thankful I joined a whatsapp group I saw on canadavisa for self-employed peeps and they came through for me.
We keep knocking Indians here, but I've found that some of them really know their onions

So in a nutshell the documents I submitted for my work experience (Print production manager) are:
- CAC documents
- Tax clearance certificate
- SOA (for the past 3 years)*
- reference letters from clients
- reference letters from suppliers
- Invoices from supplier (the one that refused to give me reference letter angry)
- Emails from clients (I didn't ask them for reference letter)
- Screen grab of whatsapp chats with clients

* It is pertinent to note that though my SOA was for the past 3 years I didn't upload all the pages (it was over 120 pages!). I only uploaded the relevant pages which showed transactions from clients and suppliers from whom I had gotten reference letters, as well as salary payments to employees. I also highlighted the relevant transactions with different colours (a specific colour for each client or supplier). Packaging things wink. One might say that was overkill but I felt it was necessary to enhance readability, especially as the prints on most of the pages were skewed (yeye bank angry).

I remember when @Shyee gave his PPR testimony. I almost cried when I read that he used the registration as a taxable person document. Chai! All the money we spent to get the tax clearance certificate cry. Thank God I'm smiling now sha grin

On the first page of my work experience document, I created a table of all documents therein by page number and description. I also added the colour chart for the highlights on my SOA. It was not an easy something but it seems to have paid off. Thank God!

We also submitted reference letter in CIC format from hubby's place of employment. We know we didn't need it as his work experience wasn't Canadian but he was able to get it so...

LOE: I used this to state that I didn't upload all the pages of the SOA because of size limitations but I was willing to upload them if deemed necessary. I also explained the daily running of my business, how many employees I had, etc.
I should add here that my LOE was not a letter i.e there was no address, or signature or whatever. I just explained what I felt I needed to and submitted. (I was so worried when I saw as sample LOE was being shared on the Post ITA whatsapp group cry...another headache again but thank God that's over *whew*)

POF: I used TBills. Submitted the TBills certificate and generic reference letter from the bank.

Had all my docs ready before I got ITA because there was a long delay (of 3 weeks), after I'd seen my TEF result, before I received my attestation (similar to IELTS TRF). Left to hubby, we would have even submitted that same day, but I no gree o, we checked and rechecked to make sure everything was correct first.

We waited almost a year to get ITA, but God decided to bless us with speedy processing (despite my fear of being sent to Accra because of my self-employed work experience embarassed). Hubby believes the french gave us an edge grin. All in all, we praise God!!!

PPR/COPR: Was getting the kids ready for school when I saw the mail from CPCO FinalRequest.... I can boldly say I now understand the concept of time standing still (I never really understood it before when I read it in books grin). I had to read the mail several times o, before it finally clicked (even after it clicked sef). After dropping the kids off at school, we sha went to the bank to pay the VFS fees before sending the passports and co through courier - we already had passport photographs (before IRCC changes their mind o). Depending on how you look at it, using courier may have been more expensive but we didn't want to risk going to Lagos again - our lives were too precious now, as per prospective Canadians lol.
The passports got to Accra on February 26, 2019 (all the holidays due to the elections angry).

Application was approved March 13, 2019.

Passports and COPR received from UPS, March 20,2019.

Voila, I'm officially a Canadian Permanent Resident!!! coolcoolcoolcoolcool (at least I feel like one even though I neva even land gringringringringringringrin). Flight tickets have been booked though...we can't wait again o!

I joined some whatsapp groups after I submitted my application but had to leave them because the pressure was MEEEEGAAAAA. Some posts ehn...I was constantly worried that I had done something wrong and I couldn't concentrate on other stuff. I know most of you are here sha so I wish y'all a smooth processing and subsequent landing in Canada.

To everyone else here, most especially @Joo2018 and @Ifeoma77 (you guys are selflessness personified...wow), thanks for ALL your help. May all your dreams come true.

To the newbies, please read o! That's the best way to get acquainted with the requirements for this process (as it pertains to you specifically). I wish nairaland had a feature that allowed us to pin important posts so that no matter what page you're on, you'd see them (like Telegram I think) - maybe that would help (just thinking out loud).

Alors, cela se terminera par des louanges pour nous tous! Grace a Dieu!

So, I am wishing I had written this long before the mail…. 8:45am March 12th 2019
Post PPR
Seating at the back seat of a Hilux, strapped in, Enroute Benin, laptop on my laps, I am just beaming while typing this …….story, no… reality. So, my last night was like chaos for me. Got home 10:45pm from the office as I was preparing documents that will be needed for the trip till 9:15pm. Meanwhile, as I got home….entered the Kitchen immediately, my other job. Had to fix a soup for my Husband to eat in my 4 days absence. By the time I was done, it was past 12. My darling Husband looked at me, and said….He cannot imagine I still had all the strength to arrange all this…….bla bla….long story short, We slept late, like past 2, cos after dinner/bfast we watched TV to allow the food digest. While preparing and stuffs; We just discussed how we were going to call the Lawyer in charge of our house and pay up our rent. We had waited for a notice since January, as rent was due Feb 14th, but no word. So we decided to call. My Husband had called him yesterday, but for some reasons, it was moved till today. We had just concluded to pay a year’s rent just incase he doesn’t agree to 6 months and if the PPR comes later than expected. Meanwhile, our visa expires in September, So we are planning till July/August to leave. It has all been a ball of confusion while waiting for the golden mail. So now, obviously, whether the Lawyer likes it or not….We are paying him the 6 months !!!! That’s the first testimony!

PRE CANADA
My neighbour told me about express entry way back in 2016! He said, that I am lucky, that his own application wa paper based and has been more than a year. He sent me the link ….I studied all through the pages. Then, I wasn’t married, I had finished my masters and currently working. That was when I had the Canadian dream. If you caught me day dreaming, I was somewhere in Vancouver, or Toronto…In fact I created a note book which I called “my Canada book”. I took notes and dreamed big. I had calculated the cost of living as well as my salary as an Intern Architect. It was quite impressive, and kept my dream alive. Somewhere during my research, I had read, one has to be married for at least one year to claim married. That’s how I suspended it, as I was preparing to get married in September that year.
So, fast forward to 2017 February, I had started a 14 months course that distracted me. In between, after the 1 year , It came up again, My Husband has been sceptical about the whole migration thingy. I cant remember what happened that month, but he began to reconsider. I brought out my “Canada book” Did a fresh research, things had change, IELTS was no more 52k, Was now’ 68k. I tabled the whole cost of processing it and all. The sum was enormous…Till I mentioned the Proof of Funds…..Then it was officially suspended again. The conclusion was that we can apply to visit once in a while, Lets make it here; Nigeria has a big avenue for progress and growth.
April 2018, Course ended…What project was next? Canada Yay!!!!
So I assured my Husband, that it’s the best thing to do. He had a friend that had relocated since 2011, his friend also encouraged him to come. …That’s how We began our journey.
PRE ITA
ECA: Registered with WES, my friend that had left since 2016, was a darling. I told her that we have finally decided to begin. And I was having issues paying WES with my debit card. That was how she asked my for my sign in details, and made the payments for me…Just like that! I started wondering how someone can be so carefree, deep down, I was even scared to send her the money to do it for me, to avoid stories that touch But she suggested to do it anyways…I paid to her Naija account 65k.
Then I knew I needed just the master. Went to Unilag, I was told I could do it online, that was cool. Since I had just come already, I gave one lady at Eco bank the application to process. Cost was 19500. 1k for her data….That one pained me o. Then I went to EPS behind Ecobank to courier my photocopy of Certificate. I was given 2 prices..N1500 (5 weeks), N16000 (5 days). I thought it through; then went for the N1500. In like a moth, my Certificate was received, but transcript still pending. That how I started going to Unilag to push them to send my transcript. I was always busy, so couldn’t be a regular. Then it was received, then verification came ….as August drew near, I started panicking and pushing my cousin to disturb them to verify. Anyways, God came through as usual.. I got a notification that it will be redy by 4th of September. I started my profile ahead and waited for the ITA.
IELTS: In all honesty, I never really practiced. I had the notion that, it was just English, how difficult can it be? I had studied about the sections, what goes on where, how to talk, what to listen to….Most of the times, I read in the car, on my way to work, sample letters, examples of speaking topics, what to say etc. My Speaking Test was topic was “CONCENTRATION” . It wasn’t funny at all. I stammered, and was confused why I will have a topic like that. Common…Who asks anyone “What’s the effect of concentration on people in the City?” After the Test, I started hinting my Husband that it wasn’t as I had expected it o. First, I was shocked to see an elderly black man as my Test giver. The man looked li a Ghanaian, and I know Naija and Ghana beef. I just prayed it was going to be okay. A day to the other exam, the only day I had to practice; I quickly went to deliver an errand at my In-law’s place….that how I watched two movies (that I have watched before o) Got home around past 9, and went to bed. Woke up early, and glanced through my phone again for points and ideas. Centre was at Oregun, See crowd!! I was dumbfounded. As I only knew myself, I just faced my front, and was attentive throughout. Though the test was delayed for two hours, that part wasn’t funny. Results came out to the Glory of God, 8,7,7,7! I had not come across this thread yet, and also never knew the way IELTS can humble someone, I can only assume that If I had known that IELTS is a fail able test; I would have failed out of panic. It was much later that my friend told me that I was lucky, that she wrote it 5 times, the last she had to go to Abeokuta as Lagos wasn’t working for her. I thank God it went well. Immediately, I knew my score, as I had calculated with it. CRS 442.
I apologize for those offended with my exceeding thanks to God, but in all things I give thanks to God.
My Birthday is September 16th. I had calculated the forecast of ITAs to September 5. And was waiting for my ECA to drop since July 2018. With my Husband’s ECA, it was 452. So I registered his. By then, Unilag has increased the transcript to 25k, and the postal to N2500. I didn’t know about Hello fax by then. And up till now, Unilag cannot trace my Husband’s result. So, my chances was to hope ECA drops before 5th, if not the next ITA will be 19th (Husband’s birthday) and I would have lost 5 points down to 437. Then 440s was the real deal. I just turned to God and prayed. I have created a profile and submitted without the ECA , it made the profile ineligible. I had to create another, then waited. As God will have it, ECA dropped September 4, as promised….I dived into the pool @ 442!!!

POST ITA
This is where I found nairaland. My friend had sent me a link, I cant remember what for, But I found myself on a page with so much information, I saved it on my phone home screen. That as how I knew what to do when I get to Children’s Practice, gor ASP Moshood number, Knew places for passport photo, saw samples of reference letter. I started following up from when Mepconsultant got his PPR and people were arguing or so. Anyways, What annoys me while I read on to even this part is how basic questions that google can answer is being asked here. I got all the information form Page 1 of Part 5. Its appalling that one will claim to be a “graduate” who did “thesis” or “project” and also have above 3.5m, but cannot, I mean cannot research on a life changing journey; ;like as if One is being forced to go to Canada. …Lemme not deviate.
reference Letters:
I claimed 3 jobs. 1. Nysc in the North. I wrote my reference letter myself, and in the letter stated how Bauchi is volatile, and getting the letter there will be life threatening. Apologies to folks in Bauchi reading this…I am in Lagos, so that’s the best I could come up with. I had a picture I took with one of the projects completed with other World Bank officials, I added it. Then went to GT( Allowie acc) and asked for statement of account from opening for the 1 year, then my discharge certificate.. 2. Worked here for 2 years, in Lagos. Unfortunately, they are no more in Nigeria, so I attached all the evidence I had that I worked there. I had the hard copies of pay slips, emails between clients and I, My offer letter, my wedding leave letter, my resignation letter, my acceptance of resignation letter etc. Then also stated that they can find my boss on Linked in if they want. 3. Current job as at then. No biggie, I typed this myself again in the CIC format but with some swag. Then gave to my boss, he printed it on the letter head paper and stamped on it. That was all. Just that reference letter. No payslips, No statement of account. Just that one letter.
PPC/Medical: I called immediately ITA landed to booked, I was sad when CP told me 27th September as the closest date. I tried the other one (not IOM) said 8th of October; that how I fell back to CP. Meanwhile, I wasn’t working full time, so I had most of the time. My Husband had taken leave for Sep 17th – 21st 2018. Had to wait till then. Called the weekend before, and ASP Moshood said we should come around 12 on Monday. So we were there around 1pm, met the man, did it in like 30mins, paid 10k…And that was crossed from the list. So we decided to go to CP as we were in the area, the Nurse gave us 28th Sept, and that I shouldn’t be on my period, I checked my Calendar, It was a clear day. Hmmm, so we said ok, and walked out. Then I rushed back in and explained to the Nurse/receptionist, that we just have this week together, if there is any sot we can take. She asked us to come early tomorrow by 7 and wait, just in case some folks don’t show up. So we arrived around 8:30am, and sha waited. Meanwhile, I had to see a Client by 11am in Lekki, I was just confused. I didn’t believe when I got up and begged the lady again, that \i have to come out briefly and return. She was really nice, got back around 1. And was able to do the tests. We knew the whole things needed, so it was a breeze. …..By 4, we were out of there. And Yes! I got the contract from that Client. (My Application fees settled). In between; you won’t believe that my period actually started on the 28th of Sep. I thank God for redirecting us to insist on another day.
Passport Photographs
I used one at Bode Thomas, My friend referred me, she already has her PPR, and I needed somewhere I could trust. So we took our passports, and paid for both soft and hard copies,N3,000. That’s not the normal price o..But we got lucky. Will be using the Hard copies during the submission.
POF
Didn’t know anything about gift deed prior to our submission. We had a gift cash transfer in July and August in my Husband’s account. The intention was to use his account, so I was added as a signatory to his account. Printed the bank statement up till September 30, and waited for ITA. By the time ITA came, we had spent out of it, and checked the difference between treasury bills and money market. We decided to invest in money market. A friend of mine works in Mansard, and without even visiting the branch, my account was set after sending the requirements. I did a test run with N50k, interest was good. Then transferred 4m from Husband account. We needed 4.5m, so had to wait till month end for salary. The money market account was opened Oct 2nd or so. So we attached the statement of funds + transfer teller showing the transfer from Husband’s account. That was all. So far, each month, the 4.5m yields 50k and liquidation is same day…so awesome. We always retain that 4.5m minimum to avoid stories.
I am a filing person, so organising the docs was not a problem. We scanned all with our phones using camscanner. The instructions are just easy, just read and follow. We attached an LOE to explain my reference letters, and new account with Mansard. Was ready since Oct 2nd, but submitted Oct 5th after a lot of trials trying to pay for the application. I bought the black market price, someone used her $CAD card to pay.
POST AOR
The wait was okay. Just had distractions, so I didn’t feel it. Shebi they said within 6 months, So I paryed for 2 months…Instead it was my friend that got it DEC 5, was a win to me, felt like I still got it.
Then I was on my own hustle, then a job came to me. So currently working since Jan 9. Less time for nairaland and stuffs.
In February, with my rent due, I decided to use my Ralph card and send an email asking where my visa office is and to know the stage. I got an automatic response after 5 days. Resent it again, got another automatic response after 3 days. Sad, I decided to wait till March 5. March 5, nothing…Haba.Decided to use the web form to inquire about my visa office. In the message, I also mentioned my rent issues, that I need to plan accordingly, that please I need a response. Then I had to log in last Saturday when a lady said she felt a ghost update, I just saw my profile read 27 days more. I was just considering to raise a CSE even though I know its not required; that I have a new job, maybe that will remove whatever dust that want to grow on my file. Ada mentioned something like that, so it can’t hurt trying.
All Glory to God, who has been faithful to us….

Alphadoor:

1. A sample reference letter is available on ACS website, I would have shared mine but its old and outdated as it does not meet the ACS latest requirement
2a. Elect Elect is most likely to be accessed as ICT Major, however going for ICT bus analyst can result in a 4yrs exp deduction.
2b. reference letter cannot be delayed. If you are not comfortable with getting reference letter from your HR at the moment, you can choose statutory declaration (SD) option which is a reference letter written by your colleague, direct reports or supervisor on a non letter headed paper and you have to providing supporting documents like payslip and employment letter...... attached here is also an old sample... please check ACS website for latest guidelines and requirements regarding this. the SD must be notarized at the federal high court or by a notary officer in your vicinity.
3. To whom it may concern is good enough...

All in all, ICT bus analyst is a very competitive NOC, hope you are able to gather 70 points without state nominations

Thank you soo very much! you all have helped allayed most of my fears.

I have also read through the latest guidelines on ACS website as you suggested.

I noticed ICT Bus Analyst is competitive like you mentioned, however, that is the closest to all my years of work experience ( I am actually an IT Auditor or IT Consultant). Choosing another code may either mean I risk losing my years of work experience with no point or the other code won't be on the occupation list on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Mo234:
Good morning Nairalanders,

Thank you for all the great work!

Please, I am a graduate of Elect Elect (B.Eng) but I have about 8years work experience in the ICT field, more related to the ANZSCO code 261111 - ICT Business Analyst.

My 8yrs experience cuts across the following: Bank - 1yr, Consulting firm - 6yrs, and my Current job - 1yr. However, my roles are still ICT-related in the firms.
I plan on submitting my ACS Assessment this coming week and I need to request reference Letters from my organizations. I need help in the following areas:

1. Please, I would need a sample reference Letter for ACS Assessment on ICT Business Analyst

2a. If ACS chooses to make my B.Eng Elect Elect an ICT Minor, then they will take out 5yrs from my 8yrs work experience which means I need the remaining 3yrs completely to claim my 5points for Experience. So asking for reference Letter from my current employment is needed to make up for this 3yrs for my 5points on Experience. However, I am not sure what my boss and the HR in my current organization will think requesting a reference Letter from them now (like I want to leave or something cry).

2b. Or can my current job's work-experience reference Letter be sent later , once it's good enough time to request (Maybe when things are about to click), without paying a new ACS Assessment fee ?

3. Can my reference Letter be addressed "To whom it may concern"? The reason is that I do not want it being addressed to the Australian Immigration for instance, and then, I may need to tender it maybe to the Canadian Immigration or for something else.

Thank you soo much for the anticipated responses.

This video should help you in designing your reference letter for ACS assesment,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZZzOUJn8RA&t=80s

Secondly you need to put the day, month you started working into perspective to be sure how many years you have for instance if u started working 1 jan or may 23rd of a particular year you have to put that into consideration.... Am sure other guru would help you here.

3. Can my reference Letter be addressed "To whom it may concern"? The reason is that I do not want it being addressed to the Australian Immigration for instance, and then, I may need to tender it maybe to the Canadian Immigration or for something else.

Thank you soo much for the anticipated responses.

Hello nairalanders, newbie in the House.

Pls where can I get the format of the POF letter, reference from employer etc.

I plan to use mutual funds for POF, do I need to spoil the statement? Or just a letter that states the balance?

I received ITA on the 30th and will like to join the WhatsApp group if there’s any.

Thank you.
