For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to reside out of this country. I can remember as a teenager praying that I get to study abroad and when that didnt happen. I prayed that I will marry a man who was favorably disposed to abroad‍♀️... oh well as fate would have it I got married to a Nigerian Fan. In 2017, I got married and immediately began to talk to DH about relocating but hubby wanted nothing of that nature with his comments "Nigeria will be better" "too much money to be made here" me sef I resigned to my fate and continued existing as I was before.

Fastforward to 2018, it was time to give birth to our daugther and hubbys bro (American citizen) somehow convinced us of the importance to have the American pally for her...Me I gladly accepted and encouraged hubby. He accepted too but said I should go by myself... I norh gree ohh, I kindda pleaded and eventually he accepted to follow me and also make it a mini vacation and family reunion - Hubby's only siblings are both American citizens and had not been to Nigeria for a while.

April 2018 was when we arrived Houston to birth our daughter and may I say the rest is history.... we were still in Houston when hubby came to the realization that what we had been doing in Nigeria, to put it midly is nothing but slavery and toiling.

PRE Express Entry

We got back to base in June 2018 and immediately commenced the relocation process. Money was very tight at the time? Inshort we were at zero so we planned initially that hubbys bro will file for us to relocate to the US but then we thought of Canada and decided to ply that route since it seemed quicker and more straightforward. We decided to take it one step at a time. I am younger, have worked in a Bank for 8 years and have 2 siblings in Canada hence it was decided that I will be the PA. Around the same time, someone in a work WhatsApp group informed us that he was relocating to Canada. I immediately became a pest to him. Chatting and asking endless questions. After many questions, he directed me to this forum and the rest they say is history.

IELTS

We worte our first IELTS in August 2018 (BC) and it was a disaster. LRWS
Mine : 6.5,8,6.5,7.5
Hubby's: 8,8.5,6,7

We immediatly registered for the next exam in September (IDP/MOD) and to God be all the glory the results came out and it was

Mine: 8.5,9,7,8
Hubby's: 8,8.5,7,7.5

This was our first major victory and at the time we had began to realize from this forum and the personal experiences of others that the exams was not just "another English exams" So you can imagine our excitement when we passed at the second sitting. On the day the result was to be out, I went to IDP office in PHC to pick up our result (JJC like me) and was directed to comeback in the next one week. That night I couldnt rest, I kept refreshing the browser and after what seemed like a million times to my greatest surprise, the results came up, immediately I saw that I had passed, I screamed and danced round the house while my little daughter watched in glee... I then checked hubby's own and he passed too and our joy was complete.

Below are some tips which we adopted and which might help...

Writing: We basically used Liz paid videos to study for writing and some random videos online. We downloaded the actual exam sheet and practised with timed sessions and past questions found online. Hubby marked my work and vise versa. As per bragging rights, we looked out for the person with the most errors and as such, our marking was quite intense. Becos of work, I transferred all Liz writing videos/lessons to my phone and was always listening to them on the go.

Reading: Hubby downloaded over 25 reading questions from youtube and we took turns timing ourselvse to answer the questions. He also did major research and got several tips on answering reading questions. To speak the truth, reading was never a problem for us.

Listening: As with reading, hubby downloaded a lot of timed listening sessions from youtube with which we practised together. We got better over time. If you practise listening enough you will eventually become very good at it if not a pro.

Speaking: These were funs sessions for hubby and I. We downloaded a diverse range of speaking question from Liz page and took turns examining each other while recording the entire sessions after which we replayed it and criticized. We practised all the likely questions so as to avoid surprises at the actual exam. As God will have it, this paid off

Advice: To ace IELTS, you ought to study and be extremely dedicated. I was a firsttime exclusive nursing working mother with no help at home. It was quite tedious having to study and take care of a brand new baby not to talk about work stress as a Bank marketer. But I ensured I spent at least 3 hours every day studying. Somedays we got to sleep by 2am and by 5:30am I will be awake getting ready for work. It wasnt easy but it was sure worth it. I also used the free materials provided by IDP/MOD and it helped a lot.

DIVING INTO THE POOL

At the time, the scores were hovering between 440-442. Our score was at 442- without hubby's WES - so immediately my WES evaluation was complete, we created our profile and dived into the pool. With the hope of ITA in the Nov.14th 2018 draw. Alas the draw delayed and I typed my first message in this forum seeking encouragement and @Ifeoma77 responded (God bless the soul of that damsel). Draws were eventually held and the scores shot up from 442 to 449. I was heartbroken to say the least. Birthday was on 18th and we lost 5 points.

ECA

I personally did all the waka for this one. Hubby and I finished from the same university so I started the process for both of us which was kindda smooth except for hubby verification which took over 3weeks and greasing palms for it to go through. WAEC for me was pretty straightforward, I enlisted the assistance of a friend cos we reside in PHC. Pouched all the requirements to her and she submitted on my behalf. About a week later, l saw notification of receipt on my WES dashboard. Hubby's NECO was however a big pain and caused unprecedented delays. First whoever sent the parcel from Minna made an error, maybe he didnt seal or stamp it but anyways WES rejected his NECO document and we insisted that it was resent at no additional cost to us (bad idea) cos WES eventually acknowledged reciept and sent verification but for whatever reason the verification was never recieved by NECO. I pleaded with the man and even offered to give him back the money he used to resend the document but for wia. He kept saying that he had not seen the verification mail. This lingered from August to November. Everyone in NECO PHC became my friend. It was a relief when one of the staff informed us that if we send a scratch card to WES it could suffice for the verification. The next day we spent about N20k to courier ordinary scratch card and the next week WES acknowledged reciept. Husband's WES was completed in January after I had lost 5 points due to age.

ITA

...After hubbys WES was concluded, our scores shot up to 445 and we prayed for ITA. ITA strolled in unseemingly on 23rd Jan 2019. Got home from work and saw a notification in my mail. Immediately checked the scores for the day and when I saw 443, I knew that ITA was locked down. We were excited but not compared to IELTS excitement.

DOCUMENTATION

Proof of employment:
reference Letter: As is expected with Nigerian Banks, they refused to give me the reference letter in IRCC format so I asked them to give me the regular embassy reference which had my Job role, annual renumeration, employment date and name.
I also attached the underlisted
• Mail trail with HR where my request for a reference letter in IRCC format was rejected
• Court affidavit of facts stating my duties / responsibilities
• Employment letter
• Comfirmation letter
• Promotion letter and
• Account statement - 3 months salary was highlighted

POF:

The US trip ate into our savings so hubby's bro gifted us 50% while the other 50% was savings from hubby and I. We attached
• Bank account leter in CIC format stating actual balances and dates account were established amongst other information.
• Notorized Gift deed from Hubby's bro signed by him and the notary public (sample was gotten from page one and goggle). Please note that I did major adjustments to the one on page one because I just felt it wasnt wise to use same document word for word. Moreso, I have heard of cases where the gift deed was rejected maybe because so many people have used the exact same format. Please note that everything on page one is a guide and should not be copied verbatim in my opinion though
• Dollar statement showing inflow of dollars from hubbys bro.
• Statement of account showing conversion of the dollar at bank rate and movement of same alongside existing funds into treasury bills
• Treasury bills investment letter ( funds were invested for 6 months)

MEDICALS

I did not have strenght for QLife. I personally think they are extremely rude and have no value for customers. So we jejely used IOM.

Because we reside in PHC and the work factor, we had to plan for a convenient time to do the medicals. Luckily for us, a day before the scheduled medicals, I was asked to visit one of our clients in Lagos and thats how we all travelled and killed 2 birds with one stone.
The day before my medicals, the red lady decided to visit and as such i had to redo my urine analysis meaning I had to travel to Lagos after 2 weeks to have it done. This one pain me sha but thank God it ended in praise.

PCC: Immediately after the said meeting, we went to officer Moshood and did the PCC for N5k each.

Sibling Points: We attached

Hydro bills, PR card, drivers licence, Gas bills.

To prove sibling relationship, I attached our birth certificates (not NPC attestaion) and international passport showing same surname. (This one gave me worry but I dedicated a whole session for my worries and how God came through)

Passport photograph: This was done at studio 24. We took soft copy and hard copies (waste of funds)

We attached marriage certificate as proof of marriage

IELTS, ECA, WAEC, NECO, university certificate for education.

N/B: pre ITA we had filled several work experiences for hubby but after ITA during submission we discovered that he would have to provide proof for all the job experiences- too much work for what didnt give us points so we asked our second question on this forum. We were advised again by @ifeoma77 and others to move work experence to personal history. I was scared and actually contemplated declining ITA cos of this. Thank God We didnt cos scores are yet to get down to 445 since that period (another birthday is around the corner)... God indeed was watching over us.

Before filling our forms, we held hands (including our smally) and prayed that God should take control and guide us.

We sha filled the post ITA forms, attached all documents, paid our RPRF as well as other fees and submitted -AOR 10th March - same day as submission

We joined a couple of WhatsApp groups post AOR and it made the wait easier because we were able to compare timelines for MEP and BIL. BIL came as at when due - 26th April and we concluded same on 2nd May (Had to take permission from the office again). Checked our profile same day and BIL was updated already.

The wait...

What can I say. I believed I had put in a good linear application so my expectation was that PPR will show before two month but hey it didnt happen. June came and I spent every waking hour thinking about our application. Was there something I did wrong, did I omit a document etc...so on 17th June about 3 month post AOR I asked my brother to order GCMS notes on my behalf which he did... GCMS came about one month later and nothing had started. Only criminality passed, info sharing was not even complete.

Sometime in June, I read the story of a lady who was rejected cos she didnt submit sufficient documents to prove sibling relationship and that began a phase of worry for me. I reached out to the lady but wasnt satisfied with our discussion so I reached out to @Topsmamen (we all know he is a great guy so I wont bore you with the stories of how awesome he was to me and all the assistance he offered selflessly). After our discussion I immediately did the attestaion of birth for my brother and I , did a slide show of pictures taken over the years raised a webform and submitted it. We got an acknowledgement about a week later.

After this, I called IRCC about 3 times and it was always the same story, criminality passed, eligibility and security not started...

I raised my first CSE for status update sometime in June and the response was heartbreaking. They said our application will experience delays because of additional verifications. About a month later, I sent a mail to MP Hussein and his response made me feel worse...He referred to the previous mail from CSE and reiterated that our application will experience delays. He further stated stuffs about the integrity of the process and how they have to check with several security agents both in Canada and other countries...I began to wonder if we had committed any crimes especially as info sharing refused to be completed. Moreso freelance online review of info sharing cases revealed that some can remain uncompleted for several months or even years... Hmmmm, I shudder at the thought of this.

After this I kindda gave CIC a break and didnt inquire as to the status of our application anymore.

...However, sometime in September, hubby read another story about a guy and his wife who were both turned back during landing because he failed to add his wife's child as a dependent under his own application. This gave us another bout of worry because in our own application, we unknowingly omitted our step siblings. We feared that this might be termed misrepresentation and once again we came to sample the opinion of this wonderful family. The suggestions were diverse but we eventually decided that we would do the right thing and correct the error just for conscience sake. We however feared that the correction might delay our application because at the time some March cases were being processed. But hey we still went ahead and submitted form 5406 I think, a very compassionate LOE and update proof of funds. A week later on 30th September, we recieved acknowledgement of reciept.

We planned that immediately we recieved an acknowledgement, we would give a little bit of time and then send a mail to Ralph for status update but it so happened that on 1st October a lady in one of the Post ITA groups on WhatzApp who has same AOR as ours shared the response she received from Ralph. Eligibility was recommended passed etc. This prompted us to use our one and only lifeline for Ralph. I sent the mail at about 7pm and by a few minutes past 7pm I got a response " Criminality (Biometrics) passed, Eligibility and Security not started. To say I was devastated is an understatement. I cried and was depressed, had bad dreams all through the night. I researched to try and understand why common criminality (info sharing) was not complete and the chances of it being completed in due time. Moreso, the mail from CIC telling me that our application will experience delays just kept resounding in my mind... TBH, I had a million fears and worries about what issues could be going on in the background. In short I had never been in a position like that where I was unable to take any actions and had no one to reach out to. This process taught me a great deal of patience.

... So after this, life continued but to tell you the truth I just couldnt focus on anything. The bad dreams continued, my mind had left work a long time ago. I was fed up with everything Nigeria. The Canada PR had become everything to me. I spent the better portion of my time at work on whatapp groups...may I say my performance was at an all time low but thank God I was in the first stages of pregnancy so my boss kindda took that as the reason for low performance and all.

My Testimony...

...After about two days of being depressed I read a story on one of the WhatsApp group where one lady with Jan AOR whose PPR was delayed had to pray it out after being depressed for a long time. She even went as far as praying for a PPR drought until hers was released and it worked for her. I sha shared the story with hubby and immediately he took the same stance with the lady and that was how our prayers started on Thursday just two days after the negative status update from Ralph. Hubby and I prayed like our lives depended on the PPR (cos it actually did). On Thursday night/Friday morning just after our prayers, I logged into our profile and saw the very first ghost update. Took screenshots of it just to be sure I wasnt hallucinating, shared it on my WhatsApp group and congratulations started pouring in. Me sha I was skeptical and just kept my fingers crossed. We continued our prayer the next day after which I logged in and again saw another ghost update - see God!!! I could not contain my joy not because I knew for sure that PPR was coming but because at least something was going on on our application. This was on Saturday morning.

Our prayers continued and on Monday I was on the PC at home trying to respond to a whistle blowing from a customer. Hubby was by my side just gisting and giving me moral support whilst using his phone. After a while he tapped me and he was like see ooo and showed me a mail sent to my email address on his phone. Immediately I saw "Ready for Visa/Pret pour Visa" everything turned to slow motion. Nothing mattered anymore, I was in total awe of God's kindness and the speed with which everything turned around. I was baffled and perplexed, I jumped up to the room to get my phone and check my mail to be sure DH wasnt playing some kind of prank saw the mail sitting pretty in my inbox. We were just jumping and thanking God...our daughter was just there following us about trying to comprehend what was going on. I was just screaming and saying "So I finally get to leave the Bank work finally" this was the highlight for me... a big weight just dropped off my entire being and so many thing that mattered hitherto didnt matter anymore. It was truly an amazing experience and I wish and pray that everyone desiring same recieves it soon IJN.

...We thereafter called select family member and told them the good news...

Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 7 by JosephAdeoba(m): 5:51am On Oct 17, 2019
odimbannamdi:
Guys, i need your input.

Can a german resident process SL for more than one beneficiart? Is there a document i can read and possibly reference to convince a close relative who is worried about not been able to process SL a second time as her blood brother is also interested in the Germa venture by next year?
. GOOD MORNING READ THIS NOTE:: THIS IS NOT MY POST BUT I GOT IT ON THIS THREAD AS WELL. /b]This important information is for all winter semester applicants and future ones that will be using Verpflichtungserklarung fur studium (Sponsorship Letter, sl), please read carefully all that is involved using sl and how the embassy operates with it.

Firstly, I want to let you know that using a Verpflichtungserklarung fur studium does not guarantee the issuance of student visa (I don’t care where you will be getting it from whether issued by a family, an acquaintance, or you paid), you stand the same chance as every other applicant using Blocked account. If you are using sl, you can still be rejected on the basis that your sponsor is not capable. The rejection is always in this form from the embassy.

“Your secured subsistence cost is not ensured in Germany”
“There are doubts regarding your secured subsistence cost in Germany”

Now I know you want to ask me why the office in Germany gave your sponsor the letter if he wasn’t capable to sponsor you in the first place. I want you to know that different cities/town in Germany have their own criteria in giving out the sl. Let’s take a case like the Auslanderbehorde in Munich, if your sponsor is living in Munich which is the most expensive city in Germany, as of September 2018, your sponsor must be earning 1,880 Euro monthly before tax to sponsor 1 person if he is single (and must be earning 2,610 Euro to sponsor 2 people), if he has a kid living with him or married without kid, he must be earning 2,300 Euro monthly before tax to sponsor 1 person (and must be earning 3,040 Euro to sponsor 2 people), if he is married with a kid, he must be earning 2,540 Euro monthly before tax to sponsor 1 person (and must be earning 3,270 Euro to sponsor 2 people), if he is married with 2 kids, he must be earning 2,780 Euro monthly before tax to sponsor 1 person (and must be earning 3,510 Euro to sponsor 2 people). This is the breakdown of how Munich checks your sponsor to see his/her eligibility to sponsor you. So different cities got its own breakdown of how much your sponsor must be earning monthly to sponsor you. Normally, after all monthly tax, bills and have been deducted from his monthly salary, he must have 720 or 730 Euro left, that’s how they do it. You can see it equates to the amount of blocked account (BA) to be dispensed to you monthly if you are using BA.

Now, some cities issues this letter even without your sponsor not being capable or not earning that stipulated amount and that is where you start having issues with the foreigners office of the city you are heading to and definitely with the embassy. A city I know that gives sponsors the sl without the sponsor being capable is pforzheim, Germany. This city dishes out the letters anyhow and most of the letters I have seen that comes from pforzheim always ended up being rejected by the embassy. Part of the criteria generally in Germany in issuing this sl is that your sponsor must hold a Permanent Residence permit or Temporary residence permit or must be a German citizen or EU citizen to sponsor you (This is the only residence titles your sponsor must have to be issued the sl). Now there is what they call fiktionbeschenigung (fiction certificate), this is the permit they give people living in Germany that applied for a residence permit and the foreigners office has not yet decided on the residence permit whether to issue the applicant or not, so they give the person a fiktionbeschenigung, this person can work with it pending the time they decide on his/her RP. This person is not allowed to stand as a sponsor which is clearly stated by most cities in Germany but pforzheim can give people with a fiktionbeschenigung (that’s how bad pforzheim is), now imagine you are applying to another city with this sl signed by a person with a fiktionbeschenigung, that’s auto rejection.

Let me talk about Hannover city, now Hannover has one of the strictest foreigners’ office in Germany, and the place is always filled up. If your sl is coming from any city in Germany, whether from Munich, Hamburg, and so on, just know that Hannover will write your sponsor through postal mail to send some documents including his/her 3 month payslips to check the creditworthiness of the sl, Hannover will now make their own calculations to see if your sponsor is really capable (they always do this because they know some cities are not strict with the letter and due to fluctuating credit-rating of different cities), after making their own calculations and they see your sponsor does not meet up their criteria, then sorry is your case, even if your sponsor is a white German or White EU citizen, they will write him, and if your sponsor doesn’t get the letter Hannover sent him asking for his docs, that’s not their problem, and they wont write another one, so your sponsor must have a working mail box. You might want to ask how they will know your sponsor’s address, your sponsors address will be asked when filling the sl. So I advise you all, please if your letter is coming from another city and you are going to Hannover, don’t try it, you will be disappointed, the best is for your sl to come from Hannover if you are heading to hannover, you wont even have issues, that’s auto acceptance. Hannover is the only city I know that writes sponsors to send documents and this is how to verify sl issued from other cities.

Furthermore, there is a particular number of people a person can sponsor (I don’t the exact number) but let me give you a real life case that happened summer 2018 and winter 2018. There is this German-Nigerian man in Germany, he own a company so he is earning so much money to even sponsor 40 students, in summer 2018, he sponsored about 7 people and they made it to Germany. In winter 2018, he gave about 11 people sl again, and embassy rejected all of the 11 people. Why? Because there is a rule of how many people you can sponsor. Why did they give him in the office in Germany since he was already sponsoring 7 people? The answer is he went to another city to get the sl. Yes, your sponsor can leave his residence city and go to another city to get the sl.

If your sponsor is living in Berlin, Berlin has 2 offices where this sl is issued from, there is one for long term (student, family reunioun and so on) and there is office for short term (visiting, tourism and so on.)
Also, the embassy are not the ones that verifies sl, embassy send your sl to the city you are heading to in Germany and the city does the verification, now the embassy can still decide whether to give you the visa or not, meaning even if your foreigners office in Germany approves your visa, embassy can still reject you for different reasons. They might say “they doubt your indicated purpose of trip” they have their own convictions are you cant sue or fight them.

I hope I have stated all what prospective applicant that wants to use sl needs to know. And please and please, don’t pay anybody you don’t know personally for sl, I read part 4 of this thread where a guy was scammed 400k, a lot of scammers in town now cause they know people are desperate to leave Nigeria, and there are scammers in Germany too, if you get scammed, you get scammed for life, you cant hold anybody, and even if you got the sl and the embassy rejects you based on any reason, then the money you paid is gone.
This is my 2 cents. BE WISE and BE SHARP!!!! A lot of people are crying in one corner now for this.
I read a post some pages back where one Guy was saying he has 2 million naira and he can’t raise the remaining 1.6 million for the blocked account. Dude if you are reading this, you better hustle for that complete money. I have a friend that had to stay back for a year in Nigeria to get the complete blocked account money and now he is in DE.

NB: sl can be handwritten (filled with pen) or typed-written. sl from Munich is always handwritten except for the official remark, date of entry, employer of your sponsor, and date of issuance of the sl, all these I mentioned are always typed. To get a sample of sl and how it looks like, type “Verpflichtungserklarung” on google, facebook or Instagram, you will see samples.
And please when you get your sl, before the sponsor sends the original by post mail, always request for the softcopy and check that your details (Full name, passport number, date of birth, purpose of stay in Germany) is correct.

TCHUSS!

Jbzzyy:

So sorry about your ordeal JPJ. As a fellow FG worker, this is close to home. And I know our duties are practically the same on paper even after several promotions (until directorate level).

In view of this, you need to get a new reference letter from your place of work. I would also suggest you provide a sample for the HR person highlighting requirements from IRCC plus job responsibilities over the past years, in bullet points, regardless of under which rank you were (these should align closely with your chosen NOC), then you can mention your promotion timeline altogether in a separate paragraph or leave it out all thesame.

This will make the reference letter more logical and straight forward without altering any of your roles or promotions.

Although I think this can be attempted to reopen the previous case, I dont know if it is too late. However, you can also try using this method for the new application.

This is my opinion, you can checkout possible ways around it from others.

Thank you, God willing by Monday I should have the letter.

jpj:

I felt my whole world crumbled because I had put in everything into the application. I immediately wrote a letter of appeal for reconsideration stating that I have over 10 years of experience and linking the main duties with the reference letter my employer gave me.

I apologize that this is a late PPR post. I have been somewhat overwhelmed by so much, but then I am reminded that the blessings of God maketh rich and addeth no sorrow. Also, this thread has been a blessing to me, this is my own small way of adding to the wealth of information here. So here goes my ppr gist.

Firstly, I would like to thank God almighty, the giver of all good gifts for this great opportunity He has granted my family at this time. Also, to this wonderful community of selfless individuals helping each other out, I say a big THANK YOU.God bless you.

Writing templates on this platform proved very helpful. Just a little bit of mix using synonyms rather than repeating words can make a lot of difference. Practiced my strategy for writing both tasks in simulated exam situations using the sample ielts booklets.

ECA
This one was a journey on its own. After the Nasu strike we proceeded on Feb 2018, with all documents reaching Canada by April using PEBC as evaluating body for both hubby and I.
This was after much research, considering that this evaluation would cost us about 950k and hubby has msc clinical Rx and I, a pharmD.

Pharmacists in this house, points to note;
WES will not give you professional points for your BPharm. However, If you have msc pharmacy or a pharmD, wes will evaluate as a masters and hence you still get the same professional points. That said, if you intend to practice pharmacy in Canada, only PEBC can evaluate your degree, which is the first step towards licensure. If you're thinking of a career switch in Canada, and your NOC is NOT under community or hospital pharmacy, ie your noc may be Lecturer , then by all means use wes, of course with an msc. It saves you time and money and you still get masters/ professional point for your CRS.
Using a Nigerian address also cost us about 3weeks as documents was sent Aug via Canada post ,but somehow reached us Sep 25.(World Pharmacy day). I took this as a sign. Smile.

work reference:
1 year Internship at Government hospital.
2 years Self employment with job title as Superintendent Pharmacist in a community rx, owned by hubby and I.

I got reference letter from the Hod pharmacy in CIC format on hospital letterhead, signed and stamped with department stamp. I included pcn letter of experience, payslip of 4 months.
I got jittery after submission seeing some posts here, concerning using the hod and not mgt as I knew the bottleneck involved and still wouldn't get a CIC format reference from them. So after submission, I applied for the mgt refence letter. Once it arrived, I planned on raising a CSE to add it, I never did.

For the second job, I tried to see how I could remove the self employment and use nysc and some other experience I had, but those ones were not too straight eg redeployment during Nysc, cash payments( didn't know about cash certificate). So I stuck with self employment, being the most recent. The first task was actually deciding whether to choose self-employed or employee. CAC documents bear my maiden name as hubby and I registered the company when we were still fiance/fiancee. Also, hubby is chairman/ CEO on these documents ,albeit has another job.
On the other hand, I receive a small salary as superintendent and another income from being Co- owner. After much thoughts, we decided to go with self employment instead of having hubby write me a reference letter. Also, considering my name is mentioned in company registration documents it seemed the correct thing to do.
The next thought was documents to submit, I have to specially thank Moniker @ LadyAy. I don't know her nor did i contact her, but in the course of my research after I stumbled on nairaland, I came across her well detailed posts in thread 3 or 4. So everything I included in this placeholder was a prototype of hers with a few additions.
LOE explaining my situation, writing in detailed but concise sentences , including a little bit of the retail nature of the job.( just so they didn't expect large deposits from customers in bank statement).
Personal licence and pharmacy licence for the 2 years claimed. Personal income tax receipts for me and employee. Pharmacy revenue receipts. Insurance policy for 2 years. Two letters from customers and one from a lab I refer my clients to. Corporate bank reference showing hubby and I as signatories, date it was opened , amount. Letter of non- indebtedness, statement of last 6 months. Dated and current Invoices from company reps and our own receipts.(one was bearing the name of a customer that wrote reference), lastly was a picture of a haematinic and vit c syrup in our branded nylon.smile.

Change of Name:
This was the most challenging part for me. And the part I prayed the most about.
I will try to use examples that fit, so you all understand the challenge I single handedly put us in because I never thought there were issues with it as no employer ever raised one. Although I thought of a solution as an undergraduate, the paper work seemed much and I never went through with it. During the PEBC evaluation, I was requested to send additional documents. Probably, that added to the time spent on the evaluation.
My name- Esther Amarachi Nduka
Birth certificate- Esther Amachi Nduka
Waec- Nduka Amarachi Esther
Degree- Amara Esther Nduka
Started Job- Esther Amara Nduka
Got married, changed and reconciled names legally- Esther Amarachi Williams

What a mess. what did I do?
LOE explaining my situation, that its a tribal thing. it was left to me to produce sufficient documents that this was all me. I had them all. I mean, my parents still keep nursery one results. They taught me to keep papers. With so many dated documents to place in this placeholder, It had to be prudent and significant. Documents included;
Birth certificate, Waec certificate, university eligibility/clearance slip, newspaper publication , change of name, one and same person affidavit, faculty association certicate.
It helped that for some of these documents my DOB was present as well as a younger picture of me. A big thanks to the poster that put the one and same person sample on this thread. I got that sample from relentlessly searching this forum when we just started this journey. At that time, there was no page 1 link.
So new applicants, whatever your queries, good people have taken out time to link these things, which makes things a lot easier for you. Please use them and remember to still ask when in doubt.
So that was that there. I prayed and faithlessly hoped for an ADR in this regard as I still had a heap of documents to submit if asked.I was humbled by God's faithfulness.

POST AOR , I honestly hardly checked the profile. Twice during Biometrics, and once on each occasion before raising CSE and ordering gcms.
I am a natural worrier, so I had to keep myself sane. I prayed everyday for this application. When I was not busy with family duties or work, I reread americanah and half a yellow sun, watched TV series ; Killing eve, Jane the virgin, game of thrones, Wentworth, oitnb, the bold type, money heist. Call me chief downloader( will miss this there).
Kept me busy when I was not busy.smile

While we await our COPR, I cannot but thank God for His loving mercies while still keeping in mind that the task ahead is no walk in the park. God is taking us to our destination as we begin to prepare for our licensure. For regulated professionals, the work for us is real, but carry along your strategic plans, hardwork, tenacity, courage and believe, with your Trust in God. This is our resolution. We are so hopeful for the future in that beautiful country.

Friends, in whatever stage of this journey you are, I pray that your dreams come through, speedily. God bless us all.

Topsmamen:

1. Indicate on your reference letter that you were paid in cash. There are PPR stories of people paid in cash on Page 1.
2. Get a cash salary certificate from your employer. A sample of this can also be found on Page 1.

Uncle Topsmamen please I need your assistance. Trying to work on all my docs, it's important. Pls help....I don't know how to pm, is it the same and email message? I've just done that

I have a question guys. What if my only proof of a 3year work from 2011-2014 before I left for Canada was paid only with cash. I can only get a job letter but is this enough? No bank statements, no payslip. I intend adding an explanation letter. Is there any suggestions at all or is this okay?

And please can someone send a sample detailed offer letter to me so I can send to my HR to use as reference. Thanks

Actual PPR - 8th August 2019 (10 months post AOR)

I learnt about the Express Entry process in 2015 but I felt lawyers were not included in any of the categories. I had also just returned from the UK after my masters with that 'I can do anything I put my mind to’ ginger. I had plans of starting a business, I had had it with horrible bosses and I didn't want to work for anybody again. I had also applied for a PhD in Canada as plan B so I felt I had everything figured out. Fast forward few months later, no admission, no job, no business, account red, parents asking the ‘what next’ question everyday, frustration was just lounging in my life that year. Nigeria don show me shege since sha, who patriotism epp.
Anyway in September of 2017 my sister told me about her friend, a doctor who was relocating with her husband on Express Entry. When it got to evaluating degrees I lost hope again because every time I thought of the process of applying for transcripts from my Uni, I just couldn't be bothered to go through the stress. I felt I would have to apply for all my degrees to be evaluated and that would mean evaluating undergraduate, law school and masters degrees. I started dragging my feet about the process. Then in March 2018 after my sister’s friend had relocated, my sister was also concluding her plans to relocate to the UK, lots of medical doctors were getting jobs in the UK anyhow, my body was doing me as if I'm not part of this country again. She started asking about my plans and how far I had gone. I told her about the bottlenecks with obtaining transcripts and she clarified from her friend that it was only my masters degree I had to evaluate. A little research would have helped me with this one.

IELTS
I booked an IELTS exam with British Council for the earliest date which was in May 2018, so from March I had about 2months to prepare. I started preparing earnestly in April. My sister gave me her Official Cambridge guide to IELTS and other materials she used for hers. I focused on the official guide because it was easy for me to understand. My friend and I booked the exams together and wrote on the same day. I had asked if there was a pass/fail score for the exams and he told me he thought we just had to get 6 on all the modules and we would be okay, lol. I was like for English exam what is 6, shebi I have written academic version of this test before. I was pretty confident I would pass the exams, in fact with 6 as the pass mark it was one of the smoothest exams I have written, I came out feeling fly. The speaking test had gone well, the examiner asked me the exact question I had practiced with on the Cambridge guide for the long talk. I couldn't contain my joy. After the LRW test, I called my sister and told her how every section was a breeze. It was after the exams I found this thread and saw the 8777 combination and my chest started doing me somehow. Results came out and my friend didn't pass, my own was not yet ready, I became uneasy wondering where I would find extra 75k to book another test. Finally saw the result, thank God I made it on the first attempt.
I was kinda happy I didn't see the 8777 combo before writing because I would have been under pressure.

ECA
I started my application for evaluation the same time I paid for my IELTS. Unfortunately, I hadn’t found this page yet and picked the first nice sounding evaluation body to use. I found ICAS on the CIC website and decided to use them. I paid about 87k for the evaluation and a copy of my transcript and degree certificate. 3months into my application I had not heard anything from them except that they had received my transcript, that’s when I started really looking for reviews and found they were horrible with processing times. Someone said he waited for almost a year. I finally decided to pay for WES in June and started afresh with transcript application at my Uni. I spent about 76k this time. WES came with their own wahala, they didn’t see a stamp across the flap on the envelope used by my school to send the transcript. Luckily transcript was about 2500 from my school, I reapplied for another one. Finally received my ECA on the 24th of August 2018. ECA took from March to August for a UK masters degree because I didn't research. Again, please do your research, it'll save you time and money.

reference letter
This one weak me, I wrote the department responsible for drafting these letters asking them to write one for me. I told them what I needed in the letter, the man in charge said they don't issue reference letters for permanent resident visas and they gave me a generic visa letter stating I was going for a vacation and even adding a return date based on my leave period. angry Msctheww, I had to get my colleague to write a letter for me on a plain sheet in CIC format, attached her ID card and notarised it. I also attached my appointment letter, posting letter, payslips, bank statements showing my salary deposits for about 6months, wrote an LOE stating why I couldn't get the letter in CIC format and listing all I had attached to prove my work experience.

ITA
I created my profile the weekend I received my evaluation and received ITA on the 5th of September. I had previously been arranging other documents in a folder so I didn't have much to do except wait for POF then submit my application

Medicals
We only have IOM here in Abuja, I paid about 41,400 for this one. Got there around 8am, my friend told me to drink plenty water before going so that getting a urine sample would be easy. This was a Big mistake, as I wasn't the first person attended to. My bladder was full, AC was pumping and I was actually considering going to ease myself and remain small, but we know it's better I don't start at all than to start and stop. It finally got to my turn and I was done by 12:30/1.

PCC
I got PCC from UK and Nigeria. Nigerian PCC was 10k in Abuja and pretty straightforward, my sister gave me the number of the officer in charge of processing PCCs at Force CID in Garki. I filled the forms, it had to be sent to Lagos and it was ready in two days. UK PCC was about 22k and also straightforward, until I didn't receive my certificate. I contacted them and they said they had sent it out about a week or two after I had applied so it was probably lost in transit. I applied for a copy to be delivered to a UK address for free and I got my friend to scan it to me.

POF
I hadn’t been able to save any substantial amount since I started working in 2016. Apart from investment in side hustles, my salary would never have been enough to meet my needs much less make up POF, except I had been fasting for 3years and living under the bridge. When I started the EE process I had to spend virtually all my salary from March on the things I needed at each stage. I got a gift deed for the POF from my mum and invested in fixed deposit. I attached the fixed deposit certificate, gift deed, bank statements showing two deposits of POF, screenshot of XE conversion rate for the date of submission and LOE stating breakdown of all I had attached. POF for the day was around 3.4m ish, but I used 3.6m incase of fluctuations

E-APR
I completed my application after I got POF and submitted on the 8th of October. Paid about 318k total for E-APR, biometrics and RPRF, also received AOR same day.

From the records I kept I spent about 685k, for a single applicant with two ECA reports and two medical reports, minus other minor miscellaneous expenses

POST AOR
I got Med passed update about a month later, also got the biometrics request letter and did it on the 8th of November, then the wait started. Everyone probably hopes their application gets processed sharply, even if you don't intend to leave immediately, just to be able to plan your life. I hoped and prayed for this, so when I got an update on 21st November, logged into my account and saw the ‘How to find a job in Canada’ mail, I was like chai I finally landed in London. I was a little busy with side hustle this period so it kept me occupied till around January. I started checking my account more often, by February it was every day.
I didn't want to order GCMS notes at all, I didn't even want to check visa office, I just wanted my application to be approved and my PPR to come without too much back and forth. I finally raised a CSE on the 20th of February to enquire about visa office and the status of my application. The reply came the next day, my application was being processed at CPC Ottawa and currently being verified for eligibility. On the 6th of March, I logged into my account, and saw a ghost update. I didn't get the PPR mail, but I felt it meant somebody was touching my application. On the 12th of March, I called IRCC and the agent confirmed eligibility had been met, remaining security and criminality.

Ghost update excitement has sha put me on 'is coming’.
I have looked forward to a fresh start so much that it feels like a life I have not even started is on hold. Every plan I've made since March of 2018 has been with this journey in mind.

12:30am Monday 18th March, 12 days post ghost update, excitement is waning. I pray PPR comes this week.
5:54pm Tuesday 19th March, every email that is not from CIC is obviously taunting me. Definitely going straight to thrash.
4:22pm Wednesday 27th March, I'm checking my account less now. If once in two days is considered less anyway. Raised a CSE on the 25th, haven't gotten a reply yet, I shouldn't have stopped learning French last year.
5:42pm So Matthew Agent or is it Agent Matthew responded to my CSE. Application is in process blah blah, generic bobo.
1:51am Tuesday 2nd April talk about boring, imagine my account balance without POF.
12.17pm Wednesday 3rd April, I should write less about waiting, doesn't make the wait easier. Back to learning French on Duolingo.
6:35pm Saturday 6th April, the only thing I am sure of is that the wait will end one day and everyday draws me closer to the end of my waiting... Osheyyy I yaff turn to philosopher
2:42pm Friday 12th April, raised another CSE two days ago. This wait has got me thinking about crimes I may have committed in another life, maybe a namesake/lookalike on the terrorist list. I dunno why security/criminality will be taking so long.
6:49pm Friday 26th April, no more updates. I'm tired.
5:39pm Thursday 9th May, yesterday my application clocked 7months post AOR. God forgive my ignorance, I remember before I submitted, specifically praying not to be sent to Accra. Lookat me now, Accra is on a roll and I'm here crying myself to sleep. Is this depression or frustration? May I not use my mouth to cause wahala for myself. Wait oh, if this is a lesson in patience does my crying mean I am impatient? Because the PPR dinor come after the cry sha and I'm still waiting. I can bet my POF that God has a sense of humour.
Ahh, this thing called Patience, I thought I had a lot of it but this journey has tested every single unit and I'm pretty sure I have been found seriously wanting.
10:08pm Tuesday 21st May, today was especially frustrating. Called IRCC, was on hold for over 50mins, only to get connected with an agent who put me on hold again to check the status of my application and didn't come back until my credit on the freecall app got exhausted.
8.14pm Monday 3rd June, In five days my application will be 8months post AOR. I've resumed work. My leave seemed so short, even though I wasn't doing much at home time just kept flying. I thought/prayed I would be coming back to submit my passport for PR and put in my one month notice, so I could leave this job by the end of the month. I guess I'm done with my rants, PPR will come when it will come. Until then…
2:42pm Tuesday 11th June, lmao who am I kidding. This is like holding my breath in a pool, counting to 10, but this time I don't have a definite countdown, I can't wait to finally breathe. Oh PPR where art thou?
11:44am 26th June, Called IRCC on the 12th of June, the agent said everything looked in order and she would make a note to the case processing officer working on my file. I got a generic email the next day stating my file was in queue for review blah blah.. I saw that the note she sent stated something about a BF(bring forward)due date for my file as 5th of June, which is about two months after April 8th, which marked the end of my six month average processing time. I guess they're still not done with security and background checks.
8th July, 9months since I submitted my application. Called them again, nothing has happened since the last ghost update. Eligibility met, security and criminality not yet started. What can I say, I cannot describe what I have been feeling. Especially because I do not have the slightest control over what is going on. I constantly imagine case officers sitting about and gisting like staff in a typical ministry in Naija. Ha, let it not be so
3:30am Friday 26th July, I woke up to ip2 and re-medicals request this morning. Ordered GCMS last week, sent a message to Ralph and Hussen, they haven't replied yet, sent an email to my visa office on Wednesday the 24th, no response yet. I began my novena this week, visited the blessed sacrament with my petition. All I know is I'm thankful to God. This torture is finally coming to an end
11:05pm Thursday 8th August, CPCO final request. Today my wait has ended, I don't know how to describe how I feel at the moment.
Friday 9th August, passport submitted at VFS. Spent less than an hour.

I'm so thankful to God for the opportunity, extremely thankful to my sister for all the support. I don't know how far I would have gone without her. She practically started me on this process and lent me the money to start my first ECA and pay for IELTS. Thankful to this family right here, for all the JJC questions I had(like when I wanted to jump into the pool without ECA), all the clarification. Everything I learnt about submitting my application, I learnt from here. The process was like deja vu, I didn't even have to ask many questions during submission because of those who took out time to give detailed info here. Specially thankful to Newmum0615, Ifeoma77, Tojued, Cheekygirl, Topsmamen, smslive2, luffyhaki, joo2018, Ethelia, daks02, gbemlad, ontariossisauga aka elfmannisback aka whatevernameyougobynow, everyone who made this thread what it is today, providing information and encouraging each other on this journey. Hope to see you guys on the other side.
God bless everyone and grant our hearts desires speedily and if not, give us the patience to wait on Him.

Ghost update that did not do the forerunner work is that one legit ghost update?

I work in a school and I took permission from the owner before I left. Would it be reflected in the reference letter.
Since you were still employed by the school, then the time you took off to do the graduate program could easily pass for a study leave in my opinion. Your reference letter doesn't have to indicate that.

You can use the sample cash certificate in this link and combine it with this sample reference letter here

Make sure both are printed using the school's letterhead, signed and if possible stamped.

Someone should plz answer this question I am very curious to know. Good morning great people of Nairaland

1 Does CIC call the bank and ask them how much ur balance is at a particular period to verify ur balance post AOR ?

There have been different theories and speculations about this. While some people have said the banks would not reveal such info to a third party, others have said CIC has a way around this. In my opinion, keep your funds intact.

2) Does CIC call/email ur boss who signed ur reference letter & put his official email address on the ref letter or they will send an email to the company email that is on the letterhead ?

CIC didn't email or call my previous boss, although I have seen a case from someone whose HR got a mail from CIC. I think it depends on the VO to decide who to contact, but in most cases they would contact HR directly.

3) In 2016 I left my place of work which is a school for a graduate trainee program which lasted frm Feb to May 2016. I returned back to my place of work after the program wasn't successful. How do I write my reference letter.

Were you on leave from your place of work or you resigned to go for the graduate trainee program? In my opinion if you were on leave then its pretty straightforward. Others can weigh in on this

1 Does CIC call the bank and ask them how much ur balance is at a particular period to verify ur balance post AOR ?

2) Does CIC call/email ur boss who signed ur reference letter & put his official email address on the ref letter or they will send an email to the company email that is on the letterhead ?
3) In 2016 I left my place of work which is a school for a graduate trainee program which lasted frm Feb to May 2016. I returned back to my place of work after the program wasn't successful. How do I write my reference letter.

I've asked this on the PNP thread but hopefully someone here can help too...

Please has anyone successfully gotten PPR through AINP or at least gotten the nomination points? If yes, hopefully you can help answer my questions as i'm in the process of submitting my application. My NOC is 1241 Administrative Assistant.

1. Looking at the document checklist, there's a slot for certifications, licenses and registrations. In regards to my NOC, will i need to submit anything or process anything through alberta to add to my application?
That slot is for professions like medicine that requires a licence before you can practice

2. Can I get a sample work reference template used for the Alberta nomination? The one i have doesn't include information about skills/knowledge required, work experience required as well as education required. This seems to be the format required for the AINP.

or will the reference letter i have suffice along with an job advert for said post stating all the above requirements?

3. Is it possible to add spouse after getting the nomination from Alberta, getting ITA and post AOR? Reason being we are not married yet but planning to and even if we rush and get married and i add him now, my crs score will drop. It is not advised because AINP require you inform them as soon as you get married. You can add your spouse at anything during the process though

4. What is the estimated duration of the AINP program from submission till one gets nomination (600 points)? 45 to 60 days

All response and input will be appreciated.

Braket:
I will be dropping this just incase there's someone else that's applying outside Nigeria.
I applied for UK visa from Germany and it took exactly 15 days to get my passport back with a 6month visa stamp.

I have been following this thread for quite a while now but I just couldn't get the specific information I needed.

Here's a list of documents I sent.

Invitation letter, BRP and reference letter from the person inviting me place of work.

My study status certificate and a letter from my university ( though a friend told me the letter wasn't necessary)

Balance certificate ( I was really scared of this because reading this thread and seeing people refused based on statement of account ish. And here I was applying with just a printout account balance)

A cover letter ( I had to write this because I was worried about certain questions while filling the online form because I had a stopover in Heathrow this year and I got stamped in for 24hrs because I missed my flight and I had no visa)

Job contract and 2 months payslip

Residence permit, social and tax number

Hotel reservation.

Note: even though the website states that documents that are not in English have to be officially translated, there were some documents that were totally in German and I submitted then that way.

In case anyone has any other specific question, please ask.

Oh awesome.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Do you mind sharing a sample of your cover letter sir so I can draft mine as I intend to apply for a short term study visa this week. (israelimade102@gmail.com) that's my email. I would greatly appreciate! And is the heading of the letter "cover letter or introduction letter or intent letter or personal letter?" Or are these documents all different? Thanks

Finally, like how much should one's account be reading or that of a sponsor if using one! This financial aspect is quite hmmmm.. easy, amen!

Find the answers in bold

Remicynt:
Hello House .. Whaoo it's been a long read but it's really worth it. I want to start my Canadian PR journey and obviously I will need all the help that I van. I have the following questions
1) I presently work in a school as the Administrator. I have a BSc in Bus. Admin also a Msc in Business Administration. I have been working there before I started my Msc which I graduated in 2015. I started the job 2012. How many years do I claim 2012 till now which is 7years or 2015 till now which is 4years. work experience during your Msc counts as an FSW outland applicant so you claim 7 years

2) The Noc code for School Administrator requires I have a degree in Education which I dont. Do I go for The School Administrator noc code or I go for Admin officer which doesn't require me having a degree in Education bearing in mind that reference letters to be submitted will carry the name of my school. The minimum qualification for your NOC is relevant when you decide to search for jobs in Canada. For your EE application, that is irrelevant. Rather, you must choose the NOC that fits your job description as that will be the basis for eligibility assesment by the visa officer. Post your JD here so we can help choose the right NOC for you

3) My work place pays me by cash how do I get a proof that it's actually a full time paid job. Let your reference letter state that you were paid by cash. You can also provide a cash salary certificate, you will find samples on page 1 under sample DOCUMENTS

4) As Regards Pof ... I am the primary applicant because I have a Msc but my husband earns more is it wise to use my husband statement for proof of funds. You do not need a gift deed for spousal fund support. You just need a letter of consent from him stating that he has consented to the use of his funds and they are available to you and the family at anytime

Also can we do 100% gift deed of we share it maybe 40%savings 60%gift deed. If the money comes from another source aside your husband, you would need a gift deed. It is okay for the gift deed cover some part of the funding and your savings can cover the rest.

How many months must be savings be in the account before we receive ITA we intend entrn the pool by Oct must we have our POF six months prior to this or what exactly. For the gift deed, it doesn't matter how many months it is in the account. Just ensure the money sits comfortably in your account before submitting your application. If you plan to use your savings in your bank account, it is wise to provide a 6 month bank statement as VOs would like to see the inflow and outflow of your funds over that period of time. Tbills are acceptable so you might want to consider that instead of leaving the money in your savings account

5) My husband has BSc in Business Administration too he works with an Energy firm for more than 5years now as a Sales Representative. What job do you recommend from the NOC. I am not so familiar with the forms for married applicant, not sure if there is a space for spousal noc if there is, the NOC should match your husband's JD. If the form has not space for spousal noc, your husband's NOC is irrelevant, you just include his work experience. Married applicants can answer this better

Thanks

Same essay! I wrote on May 23rd. I paraphrased, I used generalities, I used examples, I used linking words and exceeded the word count... na 7 I get. I just carried the 7 like that. Other ones were 9, 8.5, 8.

careerwoman:

Very valid point.
I’m not an authority on writing matters but I think Joromi 12 is right.

Writing does require a lot of attention and practice. The tone must be formal except when writing informal letters. Some words aren't acceptable in formal writing. Jay E2 has a YouTube on this.

Paraphrasing is also very necessary. You can’t use the same words in the question over and over again. My essay topic was about Violence among young people being caused by parents spending long hours at work. While writing my introduction, I used Juvenile Delinquency to replace Violence among young people. In another paragraph, when I needed to make reference to it I used delinquent youths. Instead of salary, I used remuneration. I used different synonyms for the same word/phrase.

Then, paragraph structure is crucial.. Your thought process must flow. Put yourself in the reader’s shoes. You don’t want to read a disjointed essay. Prepare your ideas on the question paper first before you start writing. That way, you can decide which idea should come before the other. In each paragraph, the first sentence should introduce your idea starting with a linking phrase like Firstly, In addition, Furthermore etc.
2nd&3rd sentence should explain the idea (what, how, why) you can use examples for this. Phrases like, For instance, For example etc. The examples don’t have to be true, be creative. In my essay, I created a story about a research by an American Child Psychologist, John S. (I don’t know any John S. sef) and what he findings were to support my idea. The psychologist and his research were created in my head that day. grin
3rd/4th sentence should conclude the idea or show what the idea leads to. Phrases like, “As a result” can be used here.

I don’t want to derail the thread too much; my suggestion to IELTS takers, read ielts made easy pdf cover to cover if you can and watch Jays tips on YouTube. There’s a Cambridge book that has a range of vocabularies for the different sections from which essays are created and sample Band 9 essays. (I can’t remember the name and my laptop isn’t with me atm. Unfortunately, the materials aren’t on my phone). Ask for help from people around you. I understand we don’t want people knowing our plans but sometimes being too secretive does more harm than good. I got materials from my colleagues taking PLAB etc.
If I had kept my plans to myself, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten all their ideas, tips and materials.

Finally, may we obtain all our good heart desires.
God bless..
